  1. Or alternatively it screams just broader market appeal generally and there's nothing wrong with this. The group that want super high fidelity are relatively small and developers are a business so clearly some have decided that 80% fidelity is good enough for most people, they can spend less time to get the product out, ship it at a lower price as a result and make more money. Maybe doesn't suit everyone here but for those that need high fidelity there's still PDMG, Maddog, Fenix, etc. so everyone can get what they want more or less.
  2. I have the 38" AW3821DW from your list. Use it for work and games. I find it a great monitor. IPS with Gsync ultimate. It does go up to 144Hz but that's 8bit colour. For 10bit colour it's 120Hz max which is fine for me. The only thing I don't think it does well is HDR but I don't use that so not an issue for me. blockquote widget
  3. That's correct. Only RTX cards can avail. Going by the Steam survey from November that'd mean roughly about 25% of users.
  4. Have you tried using the Bonanza improvement mod? I don't use the stock bonanza but on the improvement mod the Inst Flood rheostat turns fine and the glareshield brightness can be set (it starts off for me on full brightness). Do you maybe have a control mapping conflict on Inst Flood which is preventing you from turning the rheostat? I've had that happen before to me.
  5. I can't check it right now to confirm but is that the GLARESHIELD_LIGHTS_SET setting?
  6. As mentioned above you'll probably need some extra software to be able to access some of these. They're LVARs that you won't have access through the MSFS UI as far as I know. You can find the list that they've provided for all these in Community -> sws-aircraft-kodiak-wheels -> Manual -> SWS_Kodiak_Switch_Bindings.pdf Starter - SWS_ENGINE_Switch_Starter_ThreeState_1 (I set it on my Honeycomb magnetos where Both is Off i.e. value 1 and Start selects value 2 which turns HI START on & then I have Right set to be Value 1 which moves it to LO/MOTOR) Fuel Pump - SWS_FUEL_Switch_Pump_1 (send value 2 to switch it on and value 1 to switch off) Fuel Selector - SWS_Kodiak_TankSelector_1 & SWS_Kodial_TankSelector_2 (send value 1 to switch on and 0 to switch off). I mapped this to the landing gear lever where pulling that down switches both selectors on Landing Lights - SWS_LIGHTING_Switch_Light_Landing - it's a 3-way switch but I just map 2 of them (send value 2 for the regular non-pulse lights and value 0 to switch off) AUX Bus - XMLVAR_AUX_Bus_ON Oxygen - XMLVAR_Oxygen The only one I couldn't get to work was the Ignition Switch - it's listed in the manual but it doesn't seem to map at the moment. But I don't really use that anyway so no worries.
  7. The Kodiak uses a good few custom key binds. To assign some of them I think you'd need some extra software like Axis and Ohs or Spad next. I use AAOs and was able to get pretty much everything mapped except for the ignition switch. I'll stick the list here tomorrow morning.
  8. Rebooted my PC and that triggered it to update. Maybe try that.
  9. Not personally but I know a lot of guys on DCS and IL-2 side that use them for various sticks and they get good reviews. They're not cheap but they're high quality stuff. Not sure if they have mounts for Honeycomb though.
  10. I don't think so. It's a little trickier with the Baron not being a default aircraft and it's files are encrypted as a result. I think it's possible to work around this but as far as I know nobody's put together a proper improvement mod. There is a turbo mod for it here but it doesn't appear to have been downloaded much and not sure how it works in practice: Baron Turbo Mod » Microsoft Flight Simulator
  11. If you're not handy there's an option to buy an under desk mount: LowRider™ Flight Simulator Under Desk Yoke and Throttle Mount (allsportsystems.com) It's not an option really though if you're outside of the US as the post is crazy expensive.
  12. Here's an explanation on how it works: What Is USB to HDMI Adapter (Definition and Work Principle) (minitool.com) I got one recently for my wife so she could have dual monitors connected to her laptop which only has one HDMI port. Works fine for that purpose at least.
  13. Ok thanks. But for the taxi instruction does it use the MSFS taxiway names (which are mostly wrong when compared to charts) or does it use the correct ones like what would be on Navigraph charts?
  14. Does PF3 ATC use all the correct taxiways names or does it sync in with the MSFS ones which are all over the place? I tried the free trial for P2A and I liked how it used all the right taxiways which synced up with the Navigraph charts. Just wasn't sure if I was ready to spend $60 on it.
  15. In addition to the toolbar menu with Navigraph you can link it in with the MFDs in some aircraft too which is handy for taxi charts, approach charts e.g. the G3000 & GTN 750 (PMS version). I think it's on the roadmap for the G1000 NXi as well. I think it's probably the best all round package available but it's the most expensive too so might be worth trying the free trials or free options first and seeing what your use case really is. You can always then try Navigraph for €10 for 1 month and see if it's then worth the money for you.
  16. It's mostly just ILS that snakes for me and I'm using the NXi latest version too. Not a massive issue by any means but it does seem like there's something up. It's been noted by a good few others as well and is correctable with the mod so just a minor issue with the AP PIDs that can be fixed by SWS.
  17. Has to be a bug as it'd be oddly dangerous if real. There seems to be a couple of niggly issues with the Kodiak's AP. It's not great at settling into an ILS approach either but somebody has posted a mod to fix that if it really bothers you while we wait on SWS to make an update (doesn't bother me that much though).
  18. Looks like it was taken down. Taken in isolation a lot of the sounds seemed good to me but the overall balance seemed a little off and there was a bit of looping that was a bit too discernible. Nothing that a bit more time in the oven couldn't fix I'd say.
  19. Haven't flown this one but if it's like DCS then you'll want 6 degrees of right rudder trim. Also hold the stick aft a bit to engage the tail wheel lock. 3000rpm + steady advance to 61" MP and keep it in a 3 point position until you have plenty of airspeed so when you bring the tail wheel up you'll be able to effectively use the rudders.
  20. I don't think it would. The main issues are that there isn't any real legal definition around trademark usage in video games and there isn't much case law as historically game developers have just paid licenses rather than have to go up against some big companies in court. Then on top of that games get distributed globally and this leads to potential issues across jurisdictions. Another issue is that to hold onto your IP you have to actively protect it - some companies take a stricter view on this than others and Honda seem to fall on the very strict side of things. Recent case law in the US would suggest that game developers can use these trademarks provided there's any artistic relevance at all - the bar in court is really low for this. But there's probably more to be explored here as if the complexity and the realism of the video game is high then it's possible that people could infer that Honda have endorsed the product (which they haven't) or people could infer an opinion of the plane based on how it flies in the game e.g. if the plane FM was modelled badly and it flew like a pig then people could think the real Honda jet is a pig which potentially could hurt the image of the plane. Personally I think that including a disclaimer that Honda in no way endorse this product, that it's a simulation and not necessarily representative of the real plane and that you're trying to give people a sense of what the real pilots get to fly would be enough to claim artistic relevance but realistically no small developer is going to spend time/money going to court over this.
  21. Honda shouldn't really have any rights to do it as games typically fall under fair usage. Movies, books, music, etc. have always been able to use trademarks, etc. without infringement as they have artistic relevance. Games have had recent rulings which allow them to also claim artistic relevance - see e.g. the recent AMG vs Activision case where Activision used Humvees and were successfully able to claim artistic relevance. The bar for artistic relevance is very, very low generally. But there's not a lot of case law as game developers often don't want the hassle/cost or arguing in court and it all remains a bit of a grey area - possibly more so if the item in question is simulated to a high degree. So we'll still often end up with scenarios where the likes of a Honda can bludgeon their way to getting what they want until such time that these cases get brought before a court and games get a clearer leeway to use trademarks.
  22. Been a while since I used Shift+Z but I thought it worked where you hit Shift+Z to open it up and then hit Shift+Z each time to cycle through the various stat options available? If that's the case just setting it to a button should work ok? The Bravo doesn't have much option here as the buttons are all used for the AP but if you have the Alpha there's a good few you could use. Axis and Ohs is software that replaces the controller logic in MSFS so you can configure control profiles for each aircraft, read LVARs from the sim, etc.
