  1. The splash screens don't bother me, they're on screen for a little while then you never see them again. Maybe if people put more effort into telling Asobo what's really wrong with the Sim we'd see the obvious bugs get fixed quicker.
  2. Overall that video is cool, but those thunderstorms lack height. I've never ever seen a thunderstorm with such few clouds with such a low cap height. The overcast scenes were good, not seen anything like that in live weather since SU5! I just hope they've fixed the opaque clouds as well, that'd be nice. Anyway, thanks to others reports recently I'm sold, price dependant.
  3. August is my guess, but the HYPE TRAIN hasn't properly left the station yet so they need to get a wriggle on and show us some decent videos or something to whet our appetites.
  4. Lest we forget the Q&A where Jorg literally laughed off this idea...
  5. It's a bug that's been fixed in the beta, not public for all yet until SU15 is released.
  6. I have 32gb, I run MSFS in VR and have at least 5 apps/programs sometimes perhaps upto to 7/8 running in the background for the Sim alone mostly loaded through Add-Ons linker for quick seamless loading, plus winamp for music, browser which is always open, steam of course, MSI afterburner, Joy2Key & others then all the windows background stuff - never been an issue. Whilst I agree some Sim background apps could be done away with through better default options in game, but to get the experience I want I need all those running. I can see the point about simply not wanting to run much if anything in the background, but if you have decent RAM you really have nothing to worry about. So personally, one more open running app isn't going to be an issue.
  7. I've not done much flying recently and also not used the Auto FPS app for a long while (originally preferred DynamicLOD), but today I thought I'd update and give it a go and....well it's lovely! I think it's matured enough now for my VFR + VR needs that it is the app of the two that I should be using, set it and forget it so to speak. I locked it onto 40fps and let it do the rest whilst I enjoyed the experience, a very pleasant couple of flights this weekend in Europe & the USA.
  8. ...but again it's taking far far too long to fix what they break, which is why we (sometimes have to) rely on 3rd parties to do the job for them.
  9. Thunderstorms in MSFS have been severely lacking for years now to mention thread bare in their existence, the fact I'm able to fly a C152 through the heart of one without much turbulence at all suggests it's still not working correctly. (I'm referring to Live Weather)
  10. As mentioned above, for me it's using recent (last 24 hours) weather to fly in areas later in the day. For example I like to fly in Australia, being in the UK is mostly nighttime weather, using historical I can pop back a few hours and fly in daytime weather instead. This is the point that Jorg Neumann failed to understand in a Q&As, he simply didn't grasp what we were asking for multiple times. We have the world at our disposal, but only Live Weather at any one point in time, ActiveSkys Historical Weather looks to change that.
  11. Tornadoes are a selling point to the masses, Cirrus clouds are not!
  12. This is interesting, a few points & queries; Will the Custom Weather come with a "Random Weather" Option? One thing I *hate* about current MSFS Presets is the fact it's the same weather everywhere, there is no way to fly in clear skies through a storm into haze etc etc. Historical Weather, Jorg Neumann couldn't get his head around this when asked countless times in Q&As, if this works as advertised then that's a big selling point for me. The UI matters not one jot to me, I fly in VR therefore I'll set it up and forget about it. If it does the job who cares what it looks like? You'll be busy flying in the Sim as will I, this incessant need to have pretty UI with the kids these days drives me nuts, I buy games/sims for the gaming/simming part not what the UI looks like! If anything this is needed for Jorg & Co to get a kick up the backside to make sure MSFS2024 Weather is advanced as possible. They've screwed around with the current Sims weather integration too much, SU7 was a shambles when they introduced METAR and there's still issues remaining from that now. Hopefully ActiveSky might do some things that make them think "oh yeah we can do better" - everyone's therefore a winner.
  13. Yeah the Horizon Line issue didn't get on everyone's annoyance, yet it was (still is) there for every single user so I was surprised if didn't get as many votes as it got before Asobo finally did tweak it somewhat, thankfully it should be eradicated in MSFS2024.

  15. Where did you hear that? The last Q&A? They should've been looking at it years ago when first reported but ho hum...
  16. IMO they need one more update (SU16) to fix the bugs *THEY* introduced in past updates, then full stop work on the current Sim and go full head on with the next.
  17. I'm by no means a physics expert, but coming from a car racing background I do know fair bit about braking, and I have found myself wondering on many occasions if an aircraft really comes to as complete stop on landing as quickly as they do in real life. It may be realistic for all I know, but some planes have got better braking than an LMDh which simply doesn't feel right!
  18. Can you practice stuff in MSFS/P3D/DCS/etc and take that practice into real flying = Yes. Can you practice stuff in iRacing/RF2/AMS2/etc and take that practice into real racing = Yes. Can you practice stuff in Elden Ring/RDR2/FarCry/etc and take that practice into the real world = Probably, Probably Not!
  19. Yep, it was one of the very first things I did in this Sim shortly after release, picking a previous Eclipse and going to that date.
  20. yeah it's a very strange way of doing it and somewhat alien to me, I suppose myself coming from a sim racing background it never appealed to me pre-VR for that reason and that reason alone. I would say, being "new" to this tech and getting to grips with it this weekend that there's 3 key areas to get the best from the experience; The software obviously comes first, this Beam + OpenTrack seem to work perfectly fine to me. You need a large monitor, not just ultrawide but ultra tall as well! You need that monitor as close as possible to get the most from "looking" around. My free demo time is almost up, having played a bit in MSFS and TSW4 it's been decent, but of course nowhere near VR which is my go too. I did try this very briefly in a racing sim and nearly fell over laughing it was such a weird experience at full speed 😄but I can see it's appeal with ETS2 for sure. I'll think about a Beam purchase as a backup to those hot summer days when VR is too much, but until then I'll park it for now I think.
  21. My phones camera only outputs at 30fps (I can increase it by rooting the phone but cant be bothered to do that), whilst the view is a touch "jerky" it's worse if I move my head fast, slow turns and it's just fine & smooth. Being used to VR then jerkiness at times is something I've grown accustomed too anyway, but as before I'm only looking at Head/Eye Tracking as an alternative at certain times so I can easily live with it as it is now. I'm approaching the end of the free trial (this has been increased to 3 hours for new users FYI) so I'm trying to decide whether I want to fork out for the full package or not, it's certainly a fairly decent alternative to VR but for me it'll never fully replace it so it's whether I'll use it enough to justify it's purchase 🤔
