Question about Bravo Switches Spamming the Sim
Virtual-Chris replied to Virtual-Chris's topic in AxisAndOhs Support
I will try rebinding them - if for no other reason than to satisfy my OCD 😝 -
Question about Bravo Switches Spamming the Sim
Virtual-Chris replied to Virtual-Chris's topic in AxisAndOhs Support
No. I don’t think so. Do you think it might be impacting performance at all? Should I re-bind these switches through AAO… or will AAO suffer from having all this spam just the same? I don’t know enough about how events and redundant spam are handled to know. Hope you might. The Bravo throttle quadrant is one of the most popular devices here, so I’m surprised this hasn’t come up before. But maybe it’s a complete non issue. -
Question about Bravo Switches Spamming the Sim
Virtual-Chris replied to Virtual-Chris's topic in AxisAndOhs Support
I have several Bravo switches bound to events using MSFS built in control options… like the taxi lights for the Kodiak 100… simple things. Last night I was trying to find an event for a button in the VC (for the Kodiak engine bypass switch) so I used that window you have in AAO to monitor events. It immediately filled with events from these Bravo switches… they are constantly spamming the sim with events. I had to disconnect the Bravo to get rid of the spam. That got me wondering about how that might be impacting performance and if I should rebind those switches via AAO rather than let the sim do it. -
Thanks. You probably created more questions for me than you answered 😝 I need to do more homework. EDIT: A bit of homework revealed Eclk overclocking is raising the CPU core clock and only high-end boards support that. I went with an ASUS TUF board and I don't think it supports Eclk. I'm going to do what I can with PBO and curves.

Hi, when I look at sim events via AAOs, it seems some switches on my Bravo that are bound via the sim controls options are constantly spamming the sim. For example, one switch is bound to turn on taxi lights, and it’s constantly sending that event… several times a second. The other switches appear to be doing the same. Is this potentially impacting performance? Should I bind all switches through AAO? Does AAO only send one sim event to the sim on the initial button activation and reduce the spamming/load? Or am I worried about nothing here.

Sounds like a great setup and you’re clearly an experienced overclocker. One thing I dont like about the 5800x3D is there is zero overclocking. It seems the most popular way to overclock the new 7800x3D is to use PBO and a negative curve to undervolt it to get more power envelope to achieve higher boost clocks. Is that what you’re talking about? Not sure what Bclk vs Eclk is referring to. Are you running your infinity fabric at 2100? I think I saw in some video that the best results were with it at 2033.

Advice for fresh Windows/MSFS install?
Virtual-Chris replied to Virtual-Chris's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yeah, since my PC is a dedicated gaming machine, if it's on, I want max performance. I normally disable all forms of sleep or hibernation in bios as well. -

Thanks... but why Balanced Energy? -

Thanks, in my case, I think I want to load previous settings as my system isn't changing dramatically and I don't want to re-setup MSFS. -
Pop out Panels and Performance
Virtual-Chris replied to Michael Moe's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
So I don’t know if it’s the new beta build, the latest NV driver, or both, but I tried a pop-out panel on my 2nd display last night and it didn’t seem to impact performance at all. Would be nice if someone else could confirm. ps. I also set G-Sync to both Full Screen and Windowed (vs Full Screen only) so maybe that was the difference? Popping out a panel on a G-sync display definitely seems to create some issues with G-Sync, but moving it to my 2nd display seems to resolve any issues. -

Indeed... that is certainly the consensus. I've got my eye on some Corsair 6000 CL30 with tight secondary timings that should do nicely. My parts should arrive before the weekend if all goes well... I'll report back on my findings. I'm not expecting huge gains but something that helps with busy airports will be welcome. I'm really hoping that the integrated GPU might help with pop-out panel performance. That will be one thing I will be testing.

I just ordered a 7800x3D and new mobo/ram to replace my 5800x3D system. I also have a 4090 and find I'm still CPU limited most of the time so hoping a bit of added CPU will help balancing things out a bit more. I should have my system setup this weekend and will report on my results. I'm not expecting huge gains, but something that helps with busy airports would be great.

Pop out Panels and Performance
Virtual-Chris replied to Michael Moe's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I have a cheap and cheerful 12" 1080p touch display from Ebay. A quick search couldn't find it exactly but it seems there are lots of similar displays there. -
Pop out Panels and Performance
Virtual-Chris replied to Michael Moe's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
So, I'm upgrading to the 7800X3D with integrated GPU... and while it's not stellar, it should be more than capable of rendering a touch panel from the g5000 on a 1080p touch screen. I'm wondering if you've tested popping out panels to a display on the AMD GPU and compared the result to connecting the 2nd display to your NV GPU? My guess is that the bottleneck is likely the CPU in both cases which has to render the additional window and that neither GPU is going to stress over the actual display of it. But perhaps there is some nuance to MSFS and its pop-outs that makes one method clearly superior to the other? Interestingly, the Fenix apparently allows you to render the cockpit displays on a 2nd GPU and folks have found that using the AMD integrated GPU for that helps with overall performance. -
Thanks for sharing your situation. I gather you are GPU limited most of the time now (although running at 1440p might be shifting the bottleneck back to your CPU? - not sure)? I didn’t realize that these new AMD CPUs include graphics 😳. That’s very interesting. So are you popping panels out to a second screen connected to the integrated GPU? I guess that alone is a big help… did it eliminate the hit from popping out panels? Right now I pop out panels on a 2nd display connected to my 4090 and it creates a hit on FPS. Edit… One other question… do you think the added clock frequency and boost of the 7900x3D is worth the extra $100 over the 7800x3D?

Question about the H145 Helicopter EFB

Thanks, and some modes like auto hover are activated from a button on the cyclic.
