  2. My old TV is an 48" LG CX OLED. It's "gsync compatible", "AMD Freesync" compatible, 120hz, 1ms response time. (It's Gsync range is 40 to 120hz, but I have a 4090 and never go below the lower limit) I bought it right before cv19 / FS20 dropped, it's got 10531 hours of uptime on it according to the support menu. It's around 4 years old and still receives regular firmware updates from LG, they sent me one last week. No burn in. Would highly recommend LG. I suggest that anyone looking for a new display should check out https://www.rtings.com/tv

  4. Coincidentally, I was just checking this mod out in the MSFS official forms. And if you want to fly in 1935 US, might as well add in the US Airmail mod with it's beacons and fields. https://flightsim.to/file/32132/1926-airway-route-cam5 /Side note, it's not a historic structure, but Kermit Week's Fantasy of Flight is a good vintage style airport. https://flightsim.to/file/16471/fantasy-of-flight-fa08

  6. The model 631 is $9.99 usd today, not sure how long it's been on sale. Sold.
  7. Words have definitions. People who claim it's not a simulation, should probably consider reading the definition of the word. No offense intended to anyone, but it's an insult to all the developers who are coding their life away. It's a simulation, which some people use as a game. Much like every other simulation. To me the gate keeping sounds like elitism to a certain degree. You gonna tell A2A that they are attempting to simulate an aircraft? Or PDMG? The things you say have an impact in the world.
  8. This quote alone brings me hope as an msfs glider pilot. And I can't talk about IL2 without recognizing Oleg Maddox.
  9. No offense intended to anyone, but I've always wondered how many tube drivers (and simmers in general) are somewhere on the OCD spectrum. 😂 Please don't misconstrue that as a negative statement about anyone, or any group, it's just that it takes something different to make someone want to study a thousand page manual for an aircraft they'll never fly IRL. Not saying that all of them have any form of disorder, nor a majority, but I'd bet money that the level of intricacy appeals to people on the spectrum. They tend to like rigid, structured environments. I think it would explain many of the responses we see in the sim community.
  10. I don't get why people have issues with pre-sales. They aren't mandatory, they are for people who want to support the product early in it's development cycle. I've purchased aircraft which I'll never fly, like the Discus 2c, just to support their initiative. It's like half the world wakes up looking for something to outraged about. To each his own, I guess.
  11. Thanks for everything you guys do! What an impact you've had on the sim!
  12. Someone is recreating the Titanic in Unreal Engine 5. Personally, I think the carbon fiber pressure hull was an accident waiting to happen. I watched a YT video that showed the titanium sections being bonded to the carbon section using some type of adhesive compound. A former Titan passenger talked about how the titanium bulkhead which features the view port was bolted to it's titanium frame with 18 bolts, but Ocean Gate only uses 17 bolts because "there is no mathematical difference". Anyone who heard that statement should have ran as far as they could away from that trip. And the "off the shelf" view port was only rated to 1300m. Insane. In a way it's crazy to see the opulence of 1st class, in stark contrast to the steerage passengers who died because the stairways to the upper crust decks were gated and locked, trapping them.
  13. Jonker JS3 Rapture updated today to include the 15m version, bundled with the 18m version. https://flightsim.to/file/56083/jonker-js3-rapture
  14. Launched the sim, downloaded the Tri-Motor, and loaded a flight in the DG-808S glider. Then I noticed the Ford Tri-Motor available as a tow plane. I lol'd, and hit fly. It towed me airborne in half a football field into a 2000 fpm initial climb, then eventually settled into a 1000 fpm climb.

  16. Mint Chocolate Chip. /$529 for a throttle? Someone at Thrustmaster must have fallen and bumped their head. \ edit: for comparison sake, the Orion 2 F-16 throttle and stick = $549. https://wwsimstore.com/view/goods-details.html?id=382
  17. I purchased FSrealistic some time ago, but never got around to messing with it very much. Recently I started using it when flying MSFS gliders, the shaking effects and sounds for events such as overspeed or speed brakes and flaps are really nice. Make them feel more "alive". It is a shame the K7's vario isn't audible though.
  18. 36 pilots participated in last Saturday's SSC event in Columbia. This Saturday we are flying out of EPZR in Zar, Poland. All details will be shared in the "SSC Saturday" discord channel, https://discord.gg/rZjmcrJd The flight plan and wpr will be posted there a few hours prior to the event, in an attempt to promote a level playing field. All are welcome, voice comms is not mandatory. Xbox pilots are also welcome. If anyone is shy, just spawn at EPZR tomorrow at 17:45 on the SE Asia server, and follow the pack. I have to pull some mandatory OT tomorrow, but I'll try to post the PLN and WPR here when I get home a few hours before the event. You can expect a group varying from teenagers to seniors, from all over the globe. Many of them are glider pilots IRL, and at least 3 or 4 are dev's of the 3rd party gliders which exist now. (AS33 ME, JS3, DG808s, K7, LS-4, etc) Very informal event. It's not a race, but that doesn't stop the competitive juices from flowing. 😁
