During the last few months I was mainly flying airliners in P3D. For GA I was flying the other popular sim. Now with P3Dv5.2 and a new GPU I gave P3D GA flying another try. With most settings on Ultra and flying over augmented scenery (ORBX TE or FTX) I had some really nice flights. For example, starting at PAVD with A2A's C172 equipped with a GTN750 was a stunning experience: sharp and detailed mountains (no morphing), nice terrain, awesome clouds and weather (EA on) ... overall very immersive. Well done LM. I hope that the present EA issues will be addressed in near future. But for now it was already acceptable for me. Thanks @GSalden for your VolumetricClouds.cfg.
I wonder what's peoples experience with this new feature. I have the ORBX lights and didn't see a huge difference with this option enabled in either normal or dense setting. Furthermore, I kept getting plenty of DXGI hangs until I set the slider to off. To be fair, I can't say for sure this was the culprit as I changed some other things as well. Just wonder what others make of it being a new feature...
At many situations, a/c landing lights and taxi lights are very weak, or in other words, they don't illuminate the ground. I experience this with PMDG a/c at some top-notch airports like KORD (FSDT). Why is this? I also hoped that it would change with 5.2, but obviously it did not. What I wonder the most, ai traffic (AIG) does a pretty good job in this regard. Most of ai a/c illuminate the ground perfectly, some are even a bit too bright. Only a small amount of ai a/c models suffer from the same issue. Why is a/c lighting so inconsistent and what can be done against it?
