Hi pilots, currently I am looking for an upgrade of my current hardware for flightsimming in P3d 4.1. At the moment I am running an Mini-ITX system with GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boos, Xeon® Prozessor E3-1230V3, and 8GB RAM on one 23" monitor (1980*1440px). I do not want to have a high end system. Mostly I am flying the PMDG 737/777 with FTX Global/Vector. Additionally i am using airports like the complex of the UK2000 group. Now I want to identify the bottle neck: Should I upgrade the graphic card or the CPU? If graphic card, I have to check if the card fits in Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced (Mini-ITX). Do you have any recommendations? This would be very helpful for me! Thak you very much in advance! Best regards

Guru 3D has a review of the new i5-8600k: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/intel_core_i5_8600k_processor_review,1.html. As you would expect, single core performance and IPC appear to be almost identical to the 8700k. Overclocking potential is very good and performance in games mostly matches the 8700k. All this for 100 UK pounds less than the 8700k. The new gaming king?

Many years ago there used to be a computer program called "End It All," whose purpose was to shutdown background CPU activity and memory usage, so that your flight simulator could dominate and run more efficiently and smoothly. It worked beautifully and made a real difference in flight sim performance. Back then, the stray background apps were called TSRs: Terminate and Stay Resident (in memory). My question: Is there any modern day equivalent of "End It All" -- that clears your computer's CPU and memory of all but essential activity before booting up your flight simulator? Hello Guys, I had an problem. When I start ChasePlane, it takes about 50-80% of the CPU. After launching, the bridge needs about 10-20%. Is this normal and wanted ? Im running on the latest Beta version and P3D v4!

I'm considering building a i5-7600K + GTX1080Ti portable system, so looking at Mini-ITX boards. Q1) Do I need a Noctua NH-D14 (or similar) cooler to hit an OC of around 4.7GHz? That would really limits my case options. Q2) How high an OC might I get with a low profile cooler e.g. Noctua NH-C14S or NH-L12S (NB I'm only interested in air cooling!) Q3) Any suggestions for portable Mini-ITX cases with good airflow for the CPU?

Hi everyone, recently I bought P3D so I could fly the FSLabs A320. However Im having issues with the FPS. My first thought was that my CPU and/or my GPU were not good enough for P3D, but when I looked at my task manager I found out that both my GPU and my CPU were not even working at 50%. I really want to enjoy P3D cause the FSLabs A320 is the best A320 on the market right now. My FPS are between 10 and 15. I think P3D is not taking advantage of my pc specifications. Do you have any ideas of what I can do to increase my performance in this simulator? I also fly with Xplane 11 and my FPS are between 25 and 30 with a GPU workload of 95-99% I dont know what to do with P3D. Please help me. Hey ! I don't really know where to add this thread so feel free to move it if needed. I'm experiencing issues with P3Dv4 GPU and CPU behavior, actually I never paid attention to it before but when I fly over heavy sceneries or with a heavy on framerate Plane, both of my GPU and CPU don't run at 100%. My CPU cores are also not working equally, like the CPU0 work way harder than the others. (All tests are made without Vsync obviously, so framerate is not limited) CPU : I7 4790K without OC GPU : MSI GTX970 4Go The problem might be coming from my CPU since when I fly without any autogen, Vsync still off my GPU run at 100% with 140/150 FPS. Autogen must be adding a big load to my CPU and as soon as I load my sim with big addons I got this weird behavior. AffinityMask has been set on 0 in the .CFG as I saw it on forums, but I don't see any changes. Here at TAMPA with Carenado PC12, 40fps, GPU chilling at 44% and CPU with only core0 working at nearly 100%, all other cores are chilling too. I don't really know what to do at this point, Any idea ? Have a great week.

I am running a AMD FX-4300/4-core with 16GB/DDR3 and GTX-1070/8GB. I converted to Vulkan recently but now see that the CPU is always running at 70-75% standing on the runway (example C172) . I am driving 3 (1920x1080) HDMI or DP screens (Main and 2 popouts for GNS430+530) Should it be this high? 2. Is a CPU upgrade (30% possible with a FX6350/6 core) worth it? This is the max that the AM3+ socket supports 3. Or is is time for an update to AM4 (say Ryzen7/8-core?) What do the Nerds have to say / recommend? Particularly in respect of the work-in-progress at Laminar to make more use of multicores after the change from OpenGL to Vulcan
