Good afternoon / evening folks, This morning I experienced something strange on my 747. First let me note that a few minutes prior to the incident I had run the Operations Center and updated the tool, and also the plane itself through said program. Both updates appeared as a prompt / alert on OC. Don't know if that could have caused an issue as I have never had this before. After updating, I was trying to run a very short flight (load the short stop panel state while parked at a gate, run a preflight, power the plane and perform a traffic pattern). However, after starting the engines as per checklists, they were completely unresponsive. I could see the white "dash" (?) (or I could call it the target thrust indicator?) on the EICAS engine N1 indicator move up and down and also the thrust levers did move physically, but thrust would remain at idle. Tried both with the hardware (Saitek Pro Flight Yoke + 1 Throttle Quadrant) and also with the keyboard (F2/F3) but no thrust change or spool up sound at all. Did I do something wrong or maybe did the update corrupt something? I have to admit though that I did not restart the simulator and try again because I was about to leave for work, will try once I get back home. I also tried searching on forums to avoid a double post but didn't find this same scenario, so even if it ends up being a silly mistake by myself or a possible bug, it could help anyone who might experience this in the future. Thanks in advance! Regards,

Hi Yesterday I've tried to run-up the engines on the DC-6 step-by-step by the manual (chapter 3.2 from the expanded check list). All went well until step number 6c (page 206 of the POH): My engines were running at about 1600RPM in high RPM (P-Lever full forward position) when I pushed in the feathering switch for number 1 engine (switch #46 on page 27 in the POH). Immediately after I've pushed in the feathering switch, the engine had shut down. The prop was indeed in feathering-position, but the engine wasn't running anymore. I tried the same with engine number 2, by first pushing in the feathering switch and then immediately pulling it fully out again. but I got the same result. The next step in the manual would be a prop feathering check, where there should be a drop in 200 to 300 RPM. In my sim though, the drop was 1600 RPM and the engine stopped. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug or a limitation by the flightsim itself? I'm using Windows 10, Prepar3d v4.

I've searched this forum for some solution to this problem and tried all of the suggestions as follows: 1. Press the Q button twice 2. Adjust the sound options in FSX ... I've placed all sounds at 32 and the engine sounds to 100 3. PMDG Sounds options are Master Vol 100, Controls 100, Ambience 70, Warnings 100, GPWS/TCAS 50, Gnd Comms 50, External 100 4. There was a site out there that allows me to test my speakers when I press the left arrow button sound comes out of the left speaker and the right arrow button sound comes out of the right speaker so the stereo setup at the computer level is working properly. 5. I've tried different liveries and finished with the PMDG default livery ... same problem Finally, when I turn my "head" so that my "ear" is pointing back to the engine (either right or left) the spooling of the engine sounds perfect ... when I center my vision to the front the engine sounds cancel out and it sounds like a hair drier again ... no engine sounds. If I'm correct I also remember hearing some tire noises when rolling down the runway but I cannot remember for sure ... but that sound is gone too. Anyone have any suggestions? And, no, I'm not going to install the latest update (where I have to uninstall and then reinstall) unless a PMDG Tech Support personnel says that will fix the problem. Thanks to all! C. T. Blankenship
