  1. Has anyone every thought of creating some sort of addon/plugin for the NGX in which the longer you fly the specific plane, the wings get dirtier? It could read the .hours file for the specific reg and if somehow it could read any kind of Active Sky file like other addons do to detect the type of weather you were flying in. I'm not sure how complex this would be, specifically the weather part, but I feel it would add an extra point of realism to the aircraft. Just a thought I had tonight.
  2. Coming off the target to approach the turn for home, a brand new B17 crew leading the mission from Deenethorpe, to bomb Brest Harbour, in the good old (but still brilliant) Microprose B17 The Mighty Eighth. You can just make out below my port wing that the target was hit, that's a tanker in the harbour on fire, and this was in nine tenths cloud layer over the target, so a pretty good shot considering the visibility. For what is supposedly a bit of a 'milk run', it was something of a baptism of fire for them; the only compartment in the aircraft which didn't get flak damage was the waist, ever other part took some fairly serious hits, two fires broke out in the nose, the bombardier, navigator and pilot were all wounded and there were some holes in the port wing, port aileron and the stabiliser. No fighter opposition for the bombers though, even though there were some 109s about which never made an intercept because we were escorted by P47s and P38s. All eighteen Fortresses on the mission made it back to Deenethorpe.
  3. This aircraft sure knows how to tear one's hair out,as has oft been posted in this Forum ! 1 full week into using this aircraft since purchase, over 100 hours already logged,no issues,no Hotfix, simming life could not be better. Then, wham! There I was,at 32k,cruising serenely, leaving the plane on A/P,using Flight Sim Commander in the background as a moving map reference to check if the aircraft was tracking the flightplan.Went back to check progress, and this is what I found: the plane was clearly moving in the scenery above blue oceans as the clouds passed by and the sound was still on but the miles to the next waypoint, which should have been reducing as each mile went by,remained static, stuck at the same miles to figure. checking the FMC I could not alter anything, the legs page which normally displays the waypoint altitudes now just showed the waypoints and nothing else. tried to go back to the FSX saved flights which I have set to take place every 1/2 hour but every one of them was in a Cold 'n Dark situation, with the plane heading downwards. had to scrub the whole exercise and re-start from the beginning What a sheer waste of time. Has anybody else experienced this weird behaviour?
  4. Wanted to see how genuine you could make FS Fraps footage look. This is the A2A B17G in FSX-SE with JF phototerrain of the UK below it and ASN clouds, plus a few visual tweaks in After Effects to reduce the contrast similar to what you get with slower, less contrasty film emulsions of the period, blur things up a bit, shake the camera, simulate a bit of gate weave, motor jolt etc, so it looks like it was shot with something like maybe a hand held Bolex H16:
