  1. Anyone had any success with adding the GTN750/650 stack to the 3D panel on the XP12 default Laminar C172? I know the text I added to the .acf file in XP11 does not work the same. Any tips or software suggestions that could help me integrate it myself? Plane maker for the 3d panel does not look friendly. It's just weird seeing a 530/430 stack on the panel and toggling 750 / 650 windows . Thanks. Torg
  2. I was hesitant at first to pick this addon up, but for 20 bucks this thing is a steal. I cut my teeth on a Piper very similar to this about 20 years ago - learning to fly out of Flying Cloud, MN (KFCM). It was right before Sept 11th - and that happened and I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to pursue a career as a pilot. I ended up flying some at FCM and then when I got to college I started flying to get my PPL in a Warrior III (which looks very similar to the Carenado Arrow III cockpit but with fixed pitch prop and fixed gear). I will do a mini review of the Arrow but I am awaiting a Carenado update for better avionics and flight model refinements. Anyway so I flew a few hours in a piper like this one (160hp). I earned my PPL ASEL in a Warrior III (160hp) while in college. After college I also flew an Archer II (180hp) exactly like this one for a few hours as well. I guess I've been a low wing flyer for most of my adult life. I have a handful of hours in basic cessnas, and then of course many recent more hours in the Beech Musketeer (fixed pitch prop/fixed gear/200hp). The Musketeer is a little less forgiving than the hershey bar trainer the Warrior/Archer is. Anyway enough rambling - but I did want to explain my history with low wings and that if you don't like to read a bunch - well just get the Archer from Carenado! Previously I thought the FSW C414 to be the finest texturing in a general aviation addon. I would say Carenado has claimed the throne once again with this Archer. The model and texturing is exquisite. The textures are crisp and clear. The day I bought it I went into VR and it felt like my first flight all over again. The sounds... oh the exterior sounds are spot on - they nailed em. The handling, the wimpy stall horn, just like I remember. The power on and off stalls.... just really a mush in the warrior and archer - Carenado seems to have replicated this. Recovery is really simple , just full power, relax the pressure on the yoke to offload the wing, carefully retract a notch of flaps or two. And of course don't use ailerons if a wing dips (you don't typically see that in the warrior, maybe a little more in the archer)... use rudder to keep the aircraft in coordinated flight. I've found the C172 to break a bit more aggressively during stall practice. Still fun though. This bird comes with the typical WT GNS430, the PMS GTN750 or TDS GTN 750Xi. I did not test the PMS or use the GNS430 too much but the LPV GP (or any rnav approach with vertical guidance) works on the TDS for certain. There is no autopilot. Which I believe is totally reasonable and irl I never had one. However in the sim I would love to see a simple 2 axis (or even though I'm not a huge fan, the default KAP140). I have seen nicer Archers and Dakotas with AP's irl. It's nice for the those longer hauls in the sim at the very least. Also just a preference I'd love to see a GTN 650/650Xi as an option - standalone. It would be more common to use a 430 or 650 in this plane imo. (Then again I've seen a C152 irl with a GTN 750!) There is instrument backlighting although it is a touch dim, and there is a red dome light as well (and a white cabin light). You can definitely fly IFR but of course there is no icing protection (aside from required pitot heat). I do not see an option to exclude the GNS430W (in other words no way to fly only with classic radios). Also, an unfortunate first, I do not see any POH/perf charts in the install directory. Maybe they forgot? I had to dig some of my old stuff out. I do find it to hit perf numbers pretty well. There does seem to still be some odd Asobo mixture/leaning bug.... I just feel in the sim you have to lean out soooo much to do a basic best power config. Maybe Asobo will work on this as we progress. Landing feels great to me and don't forget to transition your eyes down the runway as you're 5-10 ft above the ground and hold the nose off just a little. Depending on weight I found 60-70 kias to be a good final approach speed with full flaps... and then touchdown maybe around 50? When I was in college (and a lot lighter!) I once calculated my Vso to be 38 kias! I was super thin and the plane wasn't full of fuel... anyway crazy times hehe! You know, around here opinions are a dime a dozen - but for 20 USD... it's a great addon. You won't get A2A quality (we need that Comanche stat!), but you're getting stellar textures/modelling, great sounds, flight model and a nice avionics selection at a fair price. Unlike my usual Point A to B flight I've just selected some shots from a variety of flights... two of the paints aren't in the default install - I did a color swap for N8068C and there's a Tim-HH one as well in there. I may have heard a rumor that Tim is getting back into painting 😉 1 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 2 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 3 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr All the registrations are dynamic so you can add whatever - this one and the red one have callsigns on the wing top and bottom (not appropriate in USA unless pipeline or skydiving but works elsewhere afaik) 4 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 5 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr The WT GNS430W looks right at home here - the warrior I flew had a KLN90B and then later in my training we got the Garmin 430W. The interior just looks freaking great! 6 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr I looked at the Mooney and this is a LOT higher texture quality. I think I spent almost double on the M20R when it was first released. 7 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr I wouldn't have minded some more modern schemes (help Tim!) but it's okay as the Archer is pretty old school 8 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 9 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 10 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 11 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 12 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr I just love this pic for some reason 13 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Day/Night IFR/VFR equipped 14 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 15 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 16 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr 17 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Short final in Duluth - see the yellow circles on either side of the runway? Those mark the location the barrier cable - which retracts and extends above the runway when needed. It's for the F16's based there that have a tail hook in case of emergency. They grab the cable just like on a carrier. 18 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr
  3. Questions for the participants in this topic, as I see your posts contain answers. 1) how are you getting single spacing in your posts? Each time I hit the <enter> key I get double spaced lines. 2) how creating the hidden content to shorten the initial appearance of long posts, such as when posting a long .cfg or .ini file? Thanks...
  4. Hello and thank you for your effort. I have just bought the GTN 650 and installed it in XPL 10. I installed the 2.4.0.0 version from the official RXP store, not the release candidate from this forum. During installation I got the trainer install error, but I continued the installation. After finishing the RXP installation I manually unzipped and installed the trainer which the installed downloaded. I did not change any paths, and this is the only Garmin trainer installed. In ProgramData/Reality XP I see foru .dll and one .rxp file. My rxpGTN.xpl.log contains only 17/04/15 18:52:38.748 08836 - ] # win.xpl version 2.4.0.0 My rxpGtnSim.dll.log contains only 17/04/15 18:52:43.370 08836 - ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.4.0.0 Windows 7, latest X Plane 10 version here. After loading my Carenado C172 in the X-Plane at LOWI, I was able to show both of the GTN units. They powered up. I see the home page, and buttons Traffix, Default NAV, Flight Plan, PROC and Nearest were tested and work (subsequent menus appear, I was able to start a simple LOWI DCT LKPR flightplan and even Review it in the Flight Plan menu. The problem is that when I click either Map or Terrain, the unit freezes. No chance to use anything else than until Xplane restart. The Map button remains blue after clicking it, the Terrain button not. Tested twice with XPL restart, both units same behavior. Any ideas? If you need any testing or debugging, let me know. Pavel
  5. A short trek from O85 (outside of Redding, CA) to Eureka, CA KEKA. I planned a higher cruise but clouds enroute kept me at 12,500. 8. I followed Nirgal's instructions for the 182 and ended up with a system that displays correctly; however, the autopilot in the 182 fails to follow the GPS guidance. It just turns the plane north to a track of ~005 and locks it there. I've tried this at several locations and I get the same results.
  9. Hi, I created a set of checklists for the GTN using the Garmin ACE. They're based on the Just Flight PA-28 Arrow III manual and the Pilot's Operating Handbook from Piper. The file is attached to that post in the X-Plane.org forum. If you spot a typo, error or anything else, feel free to fix it using the checklist editor (link in the aforementioned post) and share it.
  10. This mod causes Dreamengine to operate in a 10 minute Demo mode. Is there anything that can be done to address this issue? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  12. I can't get the Flight1 GTN 750 to show in the Fokker 50. The clickspot doesn't work (although the tooltip shows), and there's nothing I can find in the documentation or any of the 2D panels. I've tried with it enabled or disabled in the GTN config program. In the former case, the GTN 750 works as a 2D panel (and the FMC flightplan doesn't), but it's still not showing in the VC. Anybody any insights as to how I could get this fixed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  13. To anyone on the fence about whether to add this to your aircraft, this is the most awesome garmin there is! This software makes your flying experience a joy. It has terrain , aircraft charts- the true whole deal!
  14. Hi folks! Could anyone make the Carenado B200 and C90B panel with the GTN 750?
  15. Hi guys! Does anyone have the GTN 750 mod for Embraer EMB-110? Greetings!
  16. Hi! I purchased the superb GTN 750 addon a few days ago and since then I've been trying to get it in the default Cessna 172 from Laminar Research for XP 11.10b5. I also have the Reality Expansion Pack for the C172, but it's not compatible with the latest v11.10 yet. As you may know, there was a compatibility mod for the C172 including two GTN 750 in the cockpit. I managed to adapt it to XP 11.10b5 and decided it should be interesting to update the GTN 3D model and textures. I heavily tweaked a base model (from a payware) and created my own textures and effects. The result you can see on the pictures below is a new model with accurate dimensions for the GTN, with custom textures and UV map (1024x1024) including night lighting, a PBR screen surface with reflections and subtle "dirt", but I had to ditch the master selection button from the original mod as I'm not familiar with the animation and logics process for the interactive elements. The original buttons remain functional (knobs, DTO, home). I just wish it would have been easier, as editing the cockpit interactive elements can be very tricky. Unfortunately, I can't afford the time to get into that level of details - so I kept the original layout with two GTN units. The current result with the default 172 is fantastic, and I'm really grateful we have the opportunity to use such an in-depth GTN device in X-Plane. Thanks to Reality XP and Jean-Luc! Mille mercis pour cette superbe réalisation !
  17. Hi! Does anyone have mods of the Embraer 110 (Dreamfoil) and of C208 (Carrenado) to X-Plane11? Hello, GeeForge! How can I obtain yours mod for Alabeo Diamond DA-42 Twin Star? For GTN750.
  18. Hi, The GTN is nearly ready for release, and in the meantime, I've decided to open the curtain on different aspects, while at the same time, debunking some myth about FS and performance! Here is a modest screenshot of 4 GTN unit1 at 2560x1418 pixels in P3D3. NB: It is slightly reduced to save bandwidth (75%), but it illustrates a couple points nonetheless. First myth: to save performance, display 1 gauge at a time only. Most often than not, you read you can't have a popup gauge displaying the same content as the VC at the same time, and this is a 'design' decision to 'save frame rate'... Why end up with half of your gauge, instead of getting the complete picture all around? This screenshot shows one GTN 750 Unit1 (1 gauge, not 2) displaying 4 different instances of the gauge in different sizes at the same at the same time, at 60 FPS locked. This is massive amount of gauge pixels to refresh, and believe me, using the mouse wheel on the screen (which simulate screen pinch in/out) there is no stutter at all and this refreshes at native GTN speed. Second myth: you can't display images with gradients because of colour banding... Well, I'm sorry to prove this is wrong (see the area within the yellow circle), but thanks to our unique technology capable of rendering 32bits images in FS gauges, in real time, you really get THE complete GTN screen picture only with the Reality XP GTN Touch. Third myth: this is just a gauge which bridge the Garmin trainer, what's so special about this? Can't everyone do the same frankly? It might look the same on the surface, but it is more than just 'bridging' flight sim and the Garmin trainer. Suffice to say, if this was easy, there would be a lot of Garmin trainer based products on the market! First, once done the bezel, the screen, and start/stop the Garmin trainer in the background, which a lot of developers could manage to do, there are key differences in how you put and how you get data to/from the sim and the trainer. Implementing the technology to grab the screen in a highly efficient way, and then displaying it in FS in a highly efficient way, and in 32 bits colours, it something which is much harder to do than it may seem. Then, the scope of input/output to the trainer is paramount to a sound simulation, especially for our professional customers using our technologies everyday for training. For example, our TAWS-A implementation in the GTN takes in account the actual flaps and gear position, which have a dramatic impact on the TAWS algorithm, and the alerts it returns. Speaking of this, I've recently read on avsim someone saying there is no way to 'inhibit' the TAWS because, well... In fact, not all GTN are born equal and the Reality XP GTN Touch offers the 'TAWS Inhibit' input, in addition to the OBS and the CDI toggle inputs. I could write a lot more about all this, but enough said for now, time for the screenshot: NB: this is running on an old 3.4Ghz Intel I5 (2013) and an Nvidia GTX 775M with 2GB, more specifically a Late 2013 iMac in bootcamp, which is our average test reference computer.
  19. Hi Jean-Luc, Trying to make a case for your products on A2A - you may want to reach out to them as it seems they might be working on installers now... RXP GTN 750 http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=474565#p474565 Regards, Scott
  20. With the Flight 1 GTN 750 installed, is it possible to make the click point to bring the GTN out of it's bezel on the left side, where it is larger footprint to click on,instead of on the top.I find when flying in turbulence it's difficult to find the small footprint of the click spot. Thanks Steve.
  21. Hi, I'm pleased to announce v2.4.11 is now released! It is available either via Plugin | Reality XP GTN | Check Updates... or directly from our web site. Thank you again for your feedback with the release candidates! In this update: Fixed: GTN Trainer 6.21 not powering up (bug introduced in 2.4.10). In the previous update: New: IDENT mode: overrides NAV1/2 audio panel if active (compatible with GTN+GNS V2 on the same panel) New: IDENT mode: audio panel NAV1/2 selection remain available while IDENT mode is active Added: Piper PA-28 Arrow III Checklists in the sample pack (credit Bourrinopathe). Fixed: Transponder switching to 1200 during takeoff. Fixed: Flight Plan import bug introduced in the previous version. Fixed: Avionics bus / battery bus problem introduced in the last update. Fixed: GTN Trainer process stuck during boot (aka black screen problem). Enhanced: Further stability and performance enhancements.
  22. DA62 GTN Panel by Jorge Rexach, on Flickr The integration of the GTN750 into the DA62 MFD is now complete and ready for beta testing. The G1000 MFD gauge is replaced by a redesigned gauge that includes enhanced autopilot functions, including Alt Hold before selected altitude capture, saving the VS and/or FLC profile settings for resuming the climb/descent, AP auto disconnect based on airspeed, vertical navigation, altitude and extreme attitudes. The FLC algorithm has been revised to improve the accuracy of hold speed vs actual airspeed, both in climbs as well as descent, within two knots.A 2d autopilot gauge was incorporated, as flying into turbulence makes the virtual cockpit AP buttons difficult to use. Fuel system page now include separate gauges for main tanks and auxiliary tanks (visible when aux pumps are activated), as well as separate fuel tank quantity readouts. A fix for the auxiliary pump switches on the console has been properly coded to enable tank selection. Once the testing is finished and necessary approvals secured, the full package will be posted in the F1 site. If you are willing to help with the testing please PM me. 23. Hi all, I am aware about the lack of the cross-fill feature on the GTN650/750, as well as of the option of using a previously stored FPLAN (.gfp), created with some external software, to get the same flight plan on a dual set-up. My question is about flight plans created directly from one the two GTN650s, running (for example) in my wonderful A2A A35 (FSX): where are they stored (on the local drive)? And in which format? Details: I create a new route in the master unit, and from this moment on this new route shows up in the master unit catalog... but not in the other one! I searched for recently saved/updated files on my drive, but didn't find anything... the intention was obviously to copy/paste the file in some appropriate folder Any hints? Can this be a way to exchange routes between the two units without making use of any external software? This is not laziness... 😉 in real life, I program the GTNs directly during the engine warm-up Thanks - and sorry if the answer is already lying somewhere in this forum (I did spend quite a lot of time searching, but couldn't find anything concerning this question specifically) Blue skies! Andrea
  24. When I implement this mod, all works well except for Dreamengine which runs in demo mode for 10 minutes and then shuts down. Any ideas?
