  1. Wondering why I am getting these shapes in my scenery.
  2. Hi All,I dont normally give up but despite persistance I cant seem to fix this one and I am turning to you all for advice. I have trawelled the inter-web for an answer but cant seem to locate this exact problem/solution.In FSX with any aircraft I am getting horrid looking colour bands in the sky scenery instead of nice graduations in the shades. This is especially pronounced at dusk/dawn and is so bad at night I just dont fly at that time. I have attached a couple of pics to illustrate. Now it maybe that Im picky or over critical but this doesnt seem to match with many other screenshots I see from various FSX users. My system specs are:i7 960 (8 core)@3.2GHz24Gb RAMXFX Radeon HD6790 with 1Gb memory running @ 1900x1200x32 on a Dell 2407WFP (24") monitorWin7 Ultimate 64-bitI have all the usual tweeks in the fsx.cfg (HIGHMEMFIX, WideViewAspect etc). My graphics drivers are up to date (11.12 catalyst) and I am letting my CCC control the graphics (see screen shot).Any help much appreciated.ThanksJames
  3. Is there a way to see what the FPS are in game while flying, or do I have to use some overlay to tell me this? The reason I am asking is that I set the graphics to high, while flying around there seems to be no lag, but when I land and sit there for acouple seconds all of a sudden it loads a bunch more textures.I am currently running an ATI HD5770 @ 1680x1050Also, is there a way to select running DX9, DX10 or DX11 if 11 is in game?
  4. Having finally finished my fresh re-install of Windows and MSFS, an on-going issue since the previous installation is still present - any time there is an overlay on the screen, it introduces stuttering. By 'overlays' I mean if I use Game Bar (to take a screenshot, record video, display fps etc) or if I change system volume (and the volume level display comes up in the top left of my screen). The stutters immediately stop when I close Game Bar (clicking anywhere on the screen) or when the volume display fades away. I've mentioned this problem several times but nobody else has ever mentioned they have experienced it nor offered any suggestions to fix it. It doesn't appear to affect anything else, such as either of my Forza games (which I've yet to re-install). Any ideas?
  5. I suspect I've run afoul of the Unicode feature in P3D v4. When I make setting changes to Graphics/Options-Display and Save I don't get the same settings when I select different saved settings and return to the last saved settings of the Texture Filtering and Texture Resolution are "demoted". For example I save Texture Filtering to 16x and Texture resolution to 2048x2049 my profile is Custom instead of the name I just saved. When I choose the Profile I just saved Texture Filtering changes to 8x and Texture Resolution changes to 1048x1048. I'm suspecting a Reload of P3d v4. If anyone has encountered this and has a less nuclear fix please let me know. CFI-AI 42 Years stale If man were meant to fly god would have given him $ money. 6. Hi All Had to format and re-install everything (long story, my foul up 😒). Anyway after many many hours all up and running as before, or so I thought... I’m now getting black flickering every 10secs or so, yet when I alt/enter into full screen it disappears and I have a stable image. Anyone any ideas? Regards Alan
  7. Dear fellow simmers! I love flying. Soaring through the skies, piloting my FBW A320NX through virtual clouds, from Airport to Airport, ideally controlled by VATSIM. But in the recent weeks, my excitement took a hit by undesired behavior of the sim. For reasons I do not know, the ground textures look afwul. Ths certainly was not the case before. It seems like MSFS does no longer use photogrammetry/satellite images to display cities, fields, rivers and forests, but rather dissapoints me by displaying offline/default landscapes. Of course I mostly fly IFR and the flying part itself is still a lot of fun, but looking out of the cockpit (or around/below the plane) leaves me in shock. What is going on? To let you know what I am talking about I created 2 albums with a couple of pictures showing the "before/good" and "after/bad" situation. All images were shot by me during the last few months, and the last few weeks have been the bad ones. I do not know what caused the change between before and after since I did not (knowingly) change anything. My rig: MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32 GB DDR4-3600, ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Super 8GB (Geforce driver 471.41), Game installed on SSD. Cable/LAN connection. My MSFS graphics settings, which always have been like this. My online settings, which I also never changed. I even tried to erase the local rolling cache and update it, but that did not help in any way! Remark: When I start Xbox Network settings from the start menu, it always lets me know that "Teredo is unable to qualify", but when I click on "check again" it always returns "open" and "connected". In any case, neither do I know what Teredo is and if it play a role in all of this, nor do I know if there is a difference now to what was going on before since I never looked into this. Is there a way to force the sim to "show" me if data is being downloaded or if satellite images are being shown? I would like to see what is going on exactly. TL;DR: Since a few weeks, MSFS only displays the generic/default/offline ground textures and not the photogrammetry/satellite images, although I did not change the settings or alter my internet connection. Can you help me to get the sim to look like it did before? That would be greatly appreciated and I am really thankful for any advice! Your fellow pilot Nuke
  8. Hi, As many of us are aware, one of the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel for FSX and P3D is the Power Management Mode that is typically set to "Prefer Maximum Performance", but today I stumbled across a similar setting that LM recommends for P3D in their basic troubleshooting where you configure the graphics card e.g. "Use the appropriate video card software to configure the graphic card’s control of Prepar3D. For NVIDIA graphics cards, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, select Manage 3D settings, and set the Preferred graphics processor to High-performance NVIDIA processor. You can also set Prepar3D.exe’s preferred graphics processor directly under the Program Settings tab under Manage 3D settings." Now when I went and looked for this particular setting on my system, I could not find it as per LMs advice. Its nowhere to be found in the Nvidia CP. Instead I found it via the Windows Settings>System>Display>Graphics Settings/Graphics Performance Preference. From here you can select a specific application e.g. P3D.exe and then the choices are System Default, Power saving and High performance. I discovered mine was set to "Default". So my question is, are these two options (highlighted in blue above) the same or do they perform different tasks? I assume they are slightly different given one is set to Prefer Max Performance, but the other not set to High. Anyone know the difference and impact this has on the sim? Side Note: I did read up and it appears the reason why the former option mentioned by LM is not available from the Nvidia CP directly is because this setting only shows if you have multiple GPUs installed. Thoughts/comments on these two settings? Cheers
