duplicate post, somehow!

Another combined airport and city tour. KSAT from IniScene, and San Antonio itself (in the second post) following the recent Texas Cities Update. KSAT is another one of those airports that is not exactly design-led. Functional but nothing to look at. The Iniscene vesrion is quite nicely done, with lots of detail in the various periphery areas which are nothing glamorous, but very well modelled . The main terminals themselves are partially modelled, but have no people, which seems to be a thing with a lot of these airports lately. Personally, I really don't understand this - having authentic looking interiors with not a soul in sight is a bit absurd, and I assume (could be wrong, of course) that there are model libraries full of people out there and it wouldn't be that complex for the developers to add pixel people to the mix. So we'll start wih a general overhead of the main buildings, and then take a trip round some of the details This is what I mean by the peripheral details. Nice details in the vegetation, fences and wirework, and things like the telegraph poles and their light fittings. Of no great interest to the cockpit-botherers amongst us but I like this sort of thing I thought the pick-ups were really nicely done, and I love the detail of the pallets the wreck is sitting on Again, nothing special or glamorous, but just very nicely done. Very realistic, I thought. Boring but well done Now this is just weird. Main entrance building, and they went to the trouble of including the aircraft suspended from the ceiling but nothing else. Maybe a future update? Probably not as this is almost a year old now. Whereas in the boarding areas you have more comprehensive modelling (if no people) Back outside Hey! A properly modelled highway interchange (part of the KSAT package)! And off to the city itself, to be shown in part two

So, on my original flight around KSAT I'd spotted a strip called "Bat Cave Field", and @enright posted an explanation and a link for me, about what is meant to be the world's biggest bat colony. So with the help of Google Earth and the site link provided, I not only went back to visit Bat Cave Field, but found what I think is the actual cave in MSFS. Not modled, but still fascinating to see it there. So I've done this as two posts - this one is a more or less standard flight in the H135 from the very fine KSAT out over Randolph AFB (which also looks pretty good) and on to put down at TX55. Second post is to the cave itself, via Paramotor. But first . . . Approaching Randolph AFB On towards TX55 And that's the field, ahead The actual Bat Cave (Bracken Bat Cave) is a little ways off, and we'll go there in the other post.
