Hi! Tres Pierson. This is the first time I have ever posted on the AVSIM forum but the truth is I've been lurking around for years, downloading free airplanes and other stuff out of your library but I.ve never posted anything. Actually, I am a very experienced simmer, I go back to FS4. Before that, in the 80s, I was a real-world private pilot, accumulated the best part of 500 hours but then I lost my medical when I contracted chronic progressive Multiple Sclerosis. After a few years interim I took up flight simulator and I've been flying a computer and a wheelchair ever since. Oh yes, I am a very experienced simmer. That doesn't mean I am a particularly smart simmer LOL, I've just been doing it in my average way, for a long time. So I figured it was time to jump in here and tell you guys hello. I have been an avid FS economy pilot for the last four years but I have mostly migrated away from FSE. Some of you may be aware of Flyteline, which was an outgrowth of FSE about 10 years ago. I've been spending most of my flying time (I'm usually good for twenty or more flights a week; I fly every day except for three days in the office) there. So I have an issue. It is an outgrowth of my MS disability. As I said, I'm in a wheelchair so obviously anything like a Saitek yoke and rudder pedals is out of the question LOL, I can work a mouse marginally; I can press the buttons and I can hold a joystick and I'm okay with the keyboard, but the thing is, a scroll wheel is out of the question I just don't have the digital dexterity. As most of you know, the most recent generation of payware airplanes by developers such as Carenado, are heavily involved with knobs which are turned utilizing the scroll wheel. Altitude adjustment, heading adjustment and the like. I'll be damned if I can see why they bothered to make the change, the old way with plus or minus values increasing or decreasing control inputs operateable by simply pushing the mouse button seemed to work perfectly well. And it's not just one developer; I think they are all going to it. So I need a workaround. I am hoping against hope that somewhere there might be some sort of an app which could alter the code in the control knobs on the new birds and put them back to where an old guy like me can operate them. I have a weak memory of having read somewhere, I think it was on Carenado's forum, about somebody here at AVSIM was helping them with certain things. I would love to encounter that person. And as you can see, not only am I long in the tooth, I am long-winded as well. But I'm delighted to finally break the ice with AVSIM. Tres

Hi everybody, I'd like to introduce myself this way and say hello to you guys ot there :). Long story short, I startet my first virtual flying experience on an AMIGA 500 back in the late eighties and in my twenties I worked as an aircraft mechanic on airforce machines and also on GA planes like Cessna, Piper, Mooney etc. I'm in my early fourties now and after years of "flying" MSFS from version 98 on I again switched lanes and now X-Plane (10, now 11) supported with some addons (planes, scenery, realism tools...) provides the fun. Don't regret it. This year I found out about "On The Glideslope", got thrilled and now I plan to build something similar. Fot those who don't now about this, it's a nice basement simpit, great for single engine GA aircraft simulation like Cessna 172. Right now I'm doing a lot of research and I also gather desired hardware. With SketchUp I try to plan the cockpit itself. I test tools like Air Manager for a nice steam gauge panel and spadneXt to configure my already existing Saitek hardware the way I like and need it. Everything slowly comes together and in 2018 I'l start to bring everything together and build this thing. I don't rush things, since this is a hobby and I don't have any deadline to hold. But thrilled to build this thing I am :). Kind regards

Hi, I wanted to introduce myself, I live in France and have been flying 20 years ago when I was younger. Now that I have retired, I have a A320 cockpit home and make a great use of it. I'm here to find some information when I encounter dififculties in the sim, and discuss also the new things which always come out every day. Although I don't post too much, I read a lot of the discussions here and very interested in what I can read. Regards, Christian

Hello, A bit late with the introduction here. Although I've been a registered user for quite a while now, I never posted before. I did solve a lot of problems with my old FSX/XP10 installations in the past, thanks to posts others made on the forums here. So let me start by extending my gratitude for that. I am Hans, 27 years of age, coming from the Netherlands. My flightsim enthusiasm got sparked at a young age by a combat helicopter sim my father brought with him (team apache). More recently it got triggered again by DCS blackshark and after that DCS A10-C. I didn't get into airliners until a number of years ago. Which also brought my attention to the forums here, trying to solve addon puzzles in FSX and/or XP10. After a while I somehow lost interest and for the past two years i haven't been simming. Since the release of P3D V4 caught my attention I'm slowly rolling back into the world of flightsim. Doing so I'm beginning to realize that my system is not as beasty as it once was. So i thought it was time to abandon my Lone-wolf simming habits of old and start participating in a community by posting my very first question directed at the experienced folks here at AVSIM. But not before I introduced myself. So back to my system, since I'm posting here anyway i might as well include the question. Although my I7 is also not the newest either, running at 4.5GHz it seems to still do the trick. The 3GB VRAM on my 780ti however seems to be a bit of a bottleneck to me. So I'm considering an upgrade to the ASUS ROG Strix 1070ti which features 8GB of VRAM. I think it will do the trick for me, I dont need ultra settings or anything, just looking for a smoother experience. If there is anyone reading this having experience with P3dV4 performance, any advice on this matter would be most welcome. I own the PMDG 737NGX and the PMDG 777, ORBX Global/Vector/OpenLC, ActiveSky and a number of other add-ons like precipitfx and immersion from fsfxpackages. If anyone is wondering. Edit: Maybe worth mentioning that i run on 2 screens1920x1080 resolution, one for the vc view and one for cdu/pfd. Anyway, I'm looking forward to be more active on the forums as i reënter the world of simming and start exploring the new P3D V4 platform. Oh and thanks in advance for any tips!

Hi! hello from Sweden! new here!

Hello all, I a new member just getting on the forum. I am apart of 2 VA's (upsvac.com and aavirtual.net) with a couple others in my past. I currently am a staggering 16 years old (I know, crazy). In the real world I have only flown on a few Southwest flights but I have been bitten by the aviation bug and love everything about. With that I'd like to say this community is one of the more relaxed I have seen and I can't wait to participate in it. I enjoy being apart of these simming communities and look forward to this one. Hopefully I can spread some knowledge while gaining a lot on the way. So for now, post on! Best regards, Clayton Yosten - VID 1311511

Hi there, just joining your forum. I participate in 2 other online forums, a third forum will not hurt. I currently hold a PPL that I acquired some 51 years ago. In that flying has gotten so expensive these past years and due to some health issues I have had, the extent of my flying has been limited to Microsoft Flight Sim(s)! With the additional skills and information these flight sims their and respective forums can provide, I have truly enjoyed being able to continue my interest with the various aviation communities. I look forward to learning from the members of this community and I hope to be able to share with you any information that I can be of help on! Thanks for having me! - Rick
