    My best yet?

I'm just really partial to this aircraft. It has everything I'd like in a plane, AoA indicator, fully IFR equipped, and it's FAAAST! 3. After a couple of enjoyable days in Malta, we continue our journey. Our final destination for today was supposed to be Alexandria in Egypt, but there is apparently no freeware airport for that city that works in P3D v4, so we decided to conclude this leg a bit further south in Cairo instead. We could have taken the straight route above sea and along the coast, but that would have been a bit boring. That is why we will fly south instead, cross Tunesian airspace and some portions of the Sahara desert in order to go back into Algerian airspace, where we will reach the Tassili n'Ajjer mountain range. Taking off from Malta’s LMML, we make first a short tour of Valetta again. Over Tripolis, capital of Tunesia We have reached Tassili n'Ajjer’s western part. The mountain range gained world fame after the discovery of ancient rock art in the 1930s. Over the years, more than 15,000 petroglyphs and paintings were identified, as were a great number of archeological remains. But more spectacular is its eastern portion, where we are flying to now. Tassili n'Ajjer covers a massive area of Algeria, on the border of Libya, Niger and Mali. As these names imply, this is not one of the safest places to travel, but we have no intention to land in any of these countries, we just want to experience this area’s beauty from the air. But no photoscenery can give you an impression of how it really looks. Since 1982, Tassili n'Ajjer is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its special cultural and physical significance. Flying on a north-easterly course again: sand, nothing but miles and miles of sand Below us one can spot the large marina of El Alamein Above Alexandria and the Nile area, which is recognizable by its much more fertile land. Meanwhile we have turned south and follow the Nile until we reach Cairo We have reached Cairo and prepare for landing. Above the plane you can see in the distance the Giza pyramid complex, which we will explore a bit more on our third leg of this flight. As you can see, this photoscenery doesn’t have a very high resolution and is best viewed at 6,000 ft and above. Reason is that it covers with the whole North African continent a huge area Oh, I forgot to mention...when we were landing, we ran on vapor 😏😏 See ya soon and thanks for viewing
  4. First flight in my new Bonanza. I've got no GPS, I'm flying the needles and it's mostly IMC on a short hop from Bremerton Natl PWT to Skagit KBVS in the Pacific NW. My routing was a radar vector onto V165 to ISLND, then from there I shot the NDB Ry 11 at KBVS with a circle to land to Ry 4. The whole thing was tricky due to a monster ssw wind (it was lovely aloft - had a ground speed of 202!!)... I had a crosswind for the entirety of the non precision approach. routing by ryan b, on Flickr Untitled-1 by ryan b, on Flickr Untitled-2 by ryan b, on Flickr Even without GPS the aircraft is well-equipped for IFR with dual nav/comm, ADF and DME. 7. Carenado Cessna S550 II Citation, Aerosoft Gibraltar, freeware photoscenery of Northern Africa and Southern Europe, EnvTex, EnvShade, P3D v4 After having arrived with the Curtiss in Gibraltar, I thought, it would be interesting to explore this area a bit more, but on a grander scale. So why not do a tour around the entire Mediterranean Sea. I have never done that. We take off in our trusted Citation S550 from Gibraltar. She is small enough for shorter airstrips and fast enough for longer journeys. Our first leg will lead us via Algier to Malta, where we will stop overnight. For the second leg, we will fly from Malta to Alexandria in Egypt. The third leg will first go south to Cairo and the Giza pyramid complex. From there we will head further south to Hurghada, a well-known Egyptian Red Sea holiday destination, for lunch, across the Red Sea to the Sinai Peninsula and then north to Jordan, where we’ll explore the Wadi Rum desert and try to locate the ancient city of Petra. From there we’ll fly further north-west into Cyprus and then east to Crete, where we’ll finish our third leg. On the fourth leg we’ll fly first to Athens and then along the Corinth Canal west to Sicily and Sardinia, where we’ll stay overnight at the military air base Decimomannu. The fifth leg will see us heading further north via Corsica to Monaco and then on to Marseille. Via Barcelona we will reach our next and final stop-over Mallorca, which is one of the Spanish Balearic Islands. Our sixth and last leg will bring us back via Alicante to Gibraltar. Should be fun. Let’s start our first leg. Total distance between Gibraltar and Malta are some 1,800 km or 970 nm. As we plan to fly away from the coast south into Morocco’s Atlas Mountains to see some of the wonderful mountain formations, we plan a stopover in Algier to refuel and have some authentic Algerian lunch. Off we go, bye bye Gibraltar. See you again in a couple of days We have reached again after a short hop the Northern coast of Morocco. Luckily the weather around here is usually fine The Atlas Mountain range. The colors are awesome Further into our flight we are back on the coast and have just crossed into Algerian airspace Approaching Algier’s Houari Boumediene Airport (ICAO:DAAG) Passing by the modern terminal buildings We are directed to the old part of the airport. I hope fuel and the food is good here Thanks to our local agent (without one you will be completely lost), we had no issues with refueling the plane and lunch was just fantastic. Next stop will be Malta Flying over Tunis, capital of Tunesia. On its Eastern side lies what was in ancient times one of the biggest enemies of the Roman Empire: Carthage and its Carthaginian general Hannibal. He is considered one of the greatest military commanders in history. One of his most famous achievements was at the outbreak of the “Second Punic War” (218 to 201 BC), when he marched an army, which included war elephants, from Iberia over the Pyrenees and the Alps into Italy Carthage was the capital of the Carthaginian civilization, on the eastern side of what is now known as the Lake of Tunis. Carthage was finally destroyed by the Romans in the “Third Punic War” in 146 BC, then re-developed as Roman Carthage, which became the major city of the Roman Empire in the province of Africa. Finally we have reached the Republic of Malta, this here is its smaller, westerly portion, an island called “Gozo” And here we approach the main island, called “Malta” Valetta is its capital and has, as you can see, a beautiful harbour It’s already a bit late, so no more sight-seeing today. We will reserve that for tomorrow Welcome to Malta, one of the world’s smallest and most densely populated countries This is the end of our first leg around the Mediterranean Sea. I hope to see you, when the journey continues

  9. Can anyone kindly inform me if Taxi2Gate's Hamad Internationl(OTBD) has been updated to v4? Likewise for KCMI from TropicalSim.? Have a few airports from both developers and want to know if they are now to be consigned to FSX,V2,etc trash can as I have not been able to find any information from their websites other than links to their respective Forums. Tried to install in v4 and they seemed to install okay buy are not showing up either in Addon Library or in the sim itself.

  11. A touch and go at 11S then onwards to Port Angeles. I had a scenery issue at 11S.... no buildings maybe due to 4.3 update. 12. I have downloaded Cumulus X and installed it into P3D v4.2. If I start a flight without it connected it is fine, but when I connect Cumulus X to the sim, it quickly reloads the flight, and places me somewhere probably about 10 - 20 miles from where I was before. After that it will quickly (it takes about 1/2 to 1 second to load) go though the flight loading process and repeat every 20 seconds or so, nothing changing when it completes. I know Cumulus X is not officially compatible with P3D, but I have never (that I can remember) had an FSX only addon not work in P3D. I'm wondering if this is because I am trying to use it in P3D or if this is just something wrong on my end. Has anyone else tried Cumulus X in P3D? If so, does it work? Thanks in advance.

    Pipistrel or Air Tractor

Does anyone know of a good (would be willing to pay, I want a good simulation) Pipistrel Sinus, Virus, or Alpha for FSX/P3D? Also, does anyone know of a good Air Tractor plane for FSX/P3D? Many thanks.

I have the iFly GPS App on my mobile device for use in the real world, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience or knows how to connect this app to Prepar3D like you could with the Garmin Pilot app. Thanks, Caleb

    Can't start engines

Sigh...this is getting really frustrating for me. I've followed the tutorials to the letter, and none of the engines will catch. I've tried various other methods provided here by fellow simmers, and none of them works! ARGH! I've tried it on multiple liveries, repaired the engines, BUT NOTHING FREAKING WORKS!! I've been sustaining my flights on the panel states and auto-starts provided by PMDG, but it doesn't feel realistic at all. Help? Do I need to reinstall the DC-6? Or is something corrupted?
  18. So this is a preemptive question for folks using the DC-6 in P3D v4.2, have anyone experienced a massive frame rate drop in P3D compared to FSX? I used to have the DC-6 on FSX, and my frames would just tank to 5 or less fps, while with the other PMDG products it stayed at 20 to 30 fps. So before I sink in $70 for the P3D version, does anyone have any pressing issues with the DC-6 that would be a deal-breaker? My specs: Intel i7800, GTX 1070, 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 2666MHz, P3D v4.2.
  19. I was flying out of EGLL today (22 March), and saw fireworks as I'm climbing out of 09L. What special day was today? No idea what building though... https://imgur.com/a/SL9KS
  20. I've only recently bought P3D v4 and along with it PMDG's 747, and I've been having a blast except for one problem; I've noticed that the lighting in my VC is vastly inferior to what I can see in YouTube videos or screenshots (this is most noticeable in the light just above the PFD). I've done everything within my power to solve this, from playing around with the in game settings and then the NVidia control panel and inspector but to no avail. Any help or even an explanation would be greatly appreciated (I have not yet attached any images as I am yet to figure out how to inset images taken on my computer, but I do have them available, so any help in uploading them would also be appreciated; unless you wish for me to directly send them to you)

    Live ATC Chatter

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that a new version of Live ATC Chatter is coming soon. If you like to listen to ATC Chatter via the browser, this utility allows you to create a few streams and use the radio to access the streams while in flight by typing the chosen frequency. You can certainly do this with your browser, but this method saves time and is more efficient.

  24. This is a flight I did in the superb recently released freeware U206G (it's a 206 with a turboprop - find it at SoH or just google it). It's got dual GTN setup (and I've got RXP in mine). It should have been a simple VFR flight. But I saw a cold front approaching during the briefing and decided to go anyway. I decided to climb above the weather but that turned out to be a bad decision because I became stuck on top of solid overcast as I approached F62. I did something I rarely do in the sim, I did the 180 course reversal back to some sucker holes. Then I dropped in and used the GTN to find a path between the terrain and clouds to the airport. Rain also started up after I got underneath adding to the fun. Thankfully with this aircraft I have the power to get out of a bad situation hehe. I did try to maintain VFR and all USA regulations during this flight (think I was able to) Anyway if you like GA this is an excellent choice - there's amphib, skydive, and tundra and regular options!
