  1. I'm definitely in the minority where quality exterior models are equally as important to me as interior and systems, and PMDG has done a phenomenal job on all. Finally purchased this beauty yesterday- John Tavendale's paints take things one additional step further.
  2. Can anyone tell me if LatinVFR KSNA and KSAN are compatible with P3Dv3? It only says v2 on their site. Thanks
  3. Hello everybody, yesterday evening I joined the club and got myself ChasePlane. So far I have to say: Good job, gentleman. In terms of program design and available functions it is simply outstanding. Nevertheless, I have a small problem with TrackIR which I will try to describe in the following: I am running P3Dv3 and since FSX I have been using EZDok 1 and EZDok 2 together with TrackIR which worked flawlessly. You can move your head in every direction and the virtual head follows the movements of the real world counterpart without a problem. But with ChasePlane, I encountered an issue: First, here is a Picasso-like drawing of the "problem": https://abload.de/img/trackir_chaseplaneb4jwp.jpg On the left you see my head movement, on the right the "translation" by Chase Plane in the sim. When I turn my head to a new direction (2), the virtual head (2) turns as well to the translated direction. But when I lean forward (3) afterwards, chase plane moves the view point (3) forward from the original viewpoint/direction (1), and not the from new viewpoint/direction (2) so to speak. Does someone have the same prob? Is there a solution? The problem wouldn't bother me too much, but EZdok was able to handle this viewpoint movement. One could look to the left and right and "lean" out so to speak. Of course, Chase Plane is still beta, but I thought I'd ask. Thank you Captains! Kind Regards, Julius
  4. Today I use the PMDG push back facility for the first time, and I am seeing strange behavior, a bug of some kind. I was wondering whether anyone else is also seeing this or it's a known problem. I was at the EGLL (UK2000) and set my push back distance to 88 Ft, upon selecting turn nose left from the default right at 50 degree, the push back distance changed to 206 FT and I can no longer change it. Once I start the push back, sometime the plane would move forward rather than backward and I had to apply brakes. One other time the push back keep going way past the selected distance and I cannot do anything to stop it. Has anyone else seen this? I am using the 777 in P3D v3.4. Thanks in advance.
  5. Since Prepar3D v3 add-ons should be made to install outside of the P3D folder structure, preferably in the folder of choice of the user. An xml file in the My Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder is all that P3D need to make it work in the simulator. Now, for some reason, some developers continue to make life miserable for the user by ignoring good practice by making a mess of the main P3D folders with completely unnecessary negative side effects. Many developers have been graciously awarding us with P3Dv3 and v4 upgrades, only to stumble on the finish line by providing us with poor install routines. So what can be gained by following the prefered method of install add-ons outside of the main P3D folders? Here are some of the benefits: In theory you can uninstall and delete the P3D folders without deleting the add-ons, hence making a clean reinstall simple and easy. When a new install of P3D is in place it will look up all the addons in the My Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder and you’re back up and running WITH NO NEED TO REINSTALL THE ADD-ONS ALSO! Of course there are some exceptions to the rule, but stuff like aircraft, AI traffic, avatars etc. will have zero issues with this method. You can delete an addon by simply deleting the folder where YOU chose to install it and the folder containing the xml file in the My Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder. No need to track down files scattered all over the place… As most of us have experience, even those add-ons containing uninstallers can mess up or miss files that should have been deleted. You can spread your add-ons over as many drives as you like with zero fuzz. We all know that with a lot of scenery the hard drive containing P3D fills up fast – even worse if you have a few more sims installed as well. It is a nice to have add-ons that are compatible with more than one version of the sim gathered in one place. You have too many aircraft or AI aircraft installed? Just move the folders from the My Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder into a temporary folder. When you need them again, it's a simple drag and drop, no need to go through tedious install processes again, find those passwords and go through online license checks. Last, but not least – It lets the user have full control over where files are stored on their own computer. I’ve been slowly adapting to P3Dv4 since my P3Dv3 runs great with everything installed and tuned to perfection. However, I can’t escape the VAS issue, so over the last few weeks I’ve slowly started to install P3Dv4 add-ons side by side. ORBX is in place, and sadly they don’t use the external approach. However I know scenery is a bit more complicated to install, so I will leave them out of the rant for now. The first aircraft I bought for P3Dv4 was the A2A T-6 Texan Accusim. It did just as it was supposed to do and put all the files in the add-on folder, although I wish I could have selected another external folder for everything but the xml file entry. I was also eager to try out the new Ultimate Traffic offering, UT Live. Flight1 has obvisouly both gotten the memo and read it. UT Live installed right where I wanted it to! HiFiSim’s Active Sky 2016 and REX Soft Clouds play nice too. Sadly JustFlight and Carenado were big disappointments. My JustFlight Chipmunks and Carenado C208B Grand Caravan used the old “FSX-method” and messed up my nice and tidy P3Dv4 folders…
  6. I've had the 32-bit Concorde for FSX and later P3D v3 on various computers for over 10 years. In all that time it has given me immense satisfaction - more than any other aircraft I have owned. But after years of development the 64-bit version is now very close. The last announcement from FSL suggested a Q1 2023 release. That leaves just over a month before I might be installing. I have to say "might" since we still have no confirmation of a release date. So I continue to fly the 32-bit version with all its drawbacks. But it's such a great flight model and a true reference aircraft I still gain a huge amount of pleasure flying it. Today's flight is Lisbon, Portugal to Grantley Adams, Barbados. I departed at 12:24Z and will be arriving around 15:40Z. 3,111 nm in under 4 hours. Here's a couple of screenshots. First is the FE panel showing the state as tanks 9 and 10 are empty and I'm about to pump from the two wing tip tanks into 5 and 7. All the switches work and I'm handling it manually. A Virtual FE option is available which I used for several years. The second shot from outside shows the ramps lowered to reduce the speed of air entering the engines. Computer controlled and without them supersonic flight would have been impossible. Resolution is not optimum as I have to run at 1920*1080 on a 4K monitor. The days of doing that are hopefully numbered. Thanks for over 10 years of great service.
  7. Many years ago worked on Manfred's C-47 for a wip rivet test. It was an honor to be on his crew!
  8. Afterglow. All textures of the sky are copyrighted and are freely available. Have a nice evening!
  9. Hello, is there in the sim a limit to depict clouds in greater distance? i have set minimum and maximum in AS16 to maximum, also visibility upper and lower to maximum, but i get always a hard cloud limit, that every can see in high altitude flight. in the old FSX and FS9 it was possible to set the max cloud range in the cfg. but in P3Dv3 such entry not exist?
  10. After seeing MSFS, I've renewed my interest in bring this bird out of the hangar!
  11. Good afternoon all, My removal and reinstall of the 747 went flawlessly yesterday however my repaints did not carry thought. I was not sure if this was expected behavior or not. All of the liveries for v3 persisted but none carried though for v4. So my question is - do we have to reinstall liveries for v4?
  12. Hi Folks! Hope you all had a great Christmas! A few months back I purchased a GTX1070 to replace by old GTX960 2GB MSI model. My Overall performance was decreased slightly (and unexpectedly) and stutters become very evident. For Christmas I also got new Ram. 16GB of 2400mhz and installed it into my computer. This went well and I reinstalled windows and P3D to find about a 40% reduction in performance in almost all situations. For example before my new RAM I roughly got 45-50fps at UK2000 EGAA (In the AS A320) which isn't all that FPS Intensive and stutter inducing. Now I'm struggling to scrape 30fps and it's a really stuttery 30fps. I'm just wondering is there anything that could potentially help my new installation of my OS and P3D too boost the Sim up to what it was atleast. I'm looking for a smooth sim but for me I find that easier to achieve with 35+fps in situations like this. My System is: i7 4790k @4.5GHz Palit Dual GTX1070 16gb of Corsair Vengence @2400mhz My GPU usage is only maxing at 40% so this could be the issue I feel.
  13. Hello, after I installed the 777, I started it up and loaded the Cold & Dark state. Then all displays went dark and stayed dark even after ext power / APU was present. I then exited the Sim and I got the first message that P3D stopped working. The problem spread to all other a/c, default and payware (AS320, QOTSII). Everytime I start a scenario, when reaching 100% on the loading screen P3D crashes, first the .NET Runtime Frameworks, the P3D itself. I run Windows 10 and have P3D on a seperate SSD and installed the 777 as admin. I tried reinstalling the 777 and also the P3D client, but nothing changed.See below the error from the event viewer: Steffen Schaumann
  14. Here are six recent shots in P3D v3.4.18400 (18 something - no hotfixes). The sky and clouds are my own. The weather is OPUS. The scenery is Orbx and the plane is the Alabeo C182 Cutlass RG II. (I think its a 182 )
  15. LINDA 3.1.1 provides compatibility with the new Prepar3D v4 (P3Dv4) 64-bit flight simulator and all existing 32-bit flight simulators (FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv3.4). It should installed into the Flt Sim's module folder. Each adult Sim requires its own installation. This version adds the new GSX Library for working with the FSDT GSX2 add-on (lib-GSX.lua v1.3). This release requires a registered version FSUIPC5 5.153 or later to work with P3Dv4. FSUIPC4 4.974 or later is required for other 32-bit Flt Sims (FSX, FSX-SE or P3Dv3.4). LINDA WILL NOT FUNCTION WITH OLDER VERSIONS OF FSUIPC. IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH P3Dv5 OR FSUIPC6. This release provides full support for all existing features including VRi Combo MCP panel operation. Please read the enclosed release notes for all details on new features. Most of the changes are under the bonnet (US hood) based on user feedback: v3.1.1 Fixes to Fault Diagnosis Mode (on Maintenance page). Fixes Splash Screen closure error. Fixes to Edit Aircraft Module. v3.1.0 Internal GUI changes. Added Fault Diagnosis Mode. Improved Module Selection. NOTE - This version allows the old PMDG 737NGX and new PMDG 737NGXu to coexist. Even if you don't own the PMDG 737NGXu, you will need to download the latest version of the old PMDG 737NGX module v4.15 to allow both aircraft to operate correctly. All issues and problems should be reported on the LINDA Support sub-forum. Download: LINDA 3.1.1 Download Release Notes
  16. Hi all, I'm having an issue with ChasePlane since 2 or 3 days : The software starts normally, connect to P3D when this one is starting, but as soon as the flight is launched, CP crash immediatly... I've tried versions 0.2.50, 0.2.108 and today 0.2.118. The only difference is with v0.2.50, CP doesn't crash and close, but the connect symbol (top left corner of the window) blink between red and green rapidly. I haven't change anything between before and after the crash appears, except installation of Heron's Nest 2 scenery from iBlueYonder, that is uninstalled now. Also when I click on "Regenerate Airport Data", CP says "scenery.cfg not found". The scenery.cfg file is present in ProgramData\Lockeed Martin\Prepar3D v3. If it can help, the event logger of windows has 3 entries : Application : ChasePlane_Bridge.exe Version du Framework : v4.0.30319 Description : le processus a été arrêté en raison d'une exception non gérée.
