  1. Regrettably I’m ceasing use of MSI Afterburner and RTSS. Whilst RTSS caused a DXGI crash in P3Dv5.1 when switching vehicles with the display showing I could work around that when required. But with v5.2HF1 it causes P3D to crash with any access to the menu. I can’t live with that I’m afraid. I’m now using Resource Monitor customised for my needs. It doesn’t include any GPU info sadly. Is this my best alternative or do others exist which don’t cause issues with P3D?
  2. I’ve found a few default airports in P3D v5.x don’t appear until the Scenery Complexity is set to Very Dense. This was not a problem in v4 where they did. There are probably loads. Whether it’s a bug or policy who knows. One example is MUHA. Can you try it and report back either here or on my P3D post at LM. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6314&p=243903#p243903
  3. I know that P3Dv5 isn't very popular now due MSFS (however for me MSFS is boring, good for screenshots and that's all for now 😉 ... maybe in the future, well see) but if you like military planes and period of Vietnam War, and you meet the minimum requirements (important!) you can join to closed beta team of new version of Vienam War Project' 2021 (addon will be for free). Beta started in Memorial Day 30/05. More infos is on SOH Forum, on this post: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/123429-Vietnam-War-Project-2021-(preview)?p=1262244&viewfull=1#post1262244 I need few more people for tests (there are people who are on Avism and on SOH at the same time here, PM on SOH if you want to join). More info You can find in User's manual: http://yoyosims.pl/vietnam-war-project-2021 . Some screenshots: Note: When P3Dv5 version will be finished, P3Dv4.5 is planned too, but so far no date when.
  4. Yesterday I decided to fly out from a default airport in P3Dv5 instead of only using my payware ones. I started at a small military field in southern France LFTH for a short flight to Nice. The default taxiways were obscured by grass so after much investigation I discovered the UTX layer Europe Airports was responsible for this problem. Deactivate it and all taxiways return. But that layer includes many AFCAD files for airports that include additional parking positions so it's useful. I posted my findings over on the Flight 1 UTX support forum and I'm still awaiting a reply. The same problem exists at LIMJ - Genoa and you can see in my post the problem doesn't occur in P3Dv4. So something is different in v5 and I suspect it's altitudes of many airports is different. LATER: The problem also exists in v4 and even in P3Dv3. I even went as far as deactivating all 3rd party scenery and add-ons leaving UTX Europe as the only extra scenery. Still the problem exists. Could those of you with UTX Europe place your aircraft at LIMJ and switch to an overhead map view please. Can you see the taxiways? If you can't I'd appreciate you posting on my topic to reinforce my belief there are problems with this addon in v5. https://www.simforums.com/forums/topic64378_post412200.html#412200
  5. Subsequent to the issues reported after last week's release, we're pleased to announce the availability of a HF1 patch! HF1 of the B314 addresses the following: Fixed: - comm radios tuning from mouse correctly - fuel transfer working correctly when driven from the handpump - all fuel transfer and handpump action ceases if the sim is paused - wrong normal map showing under the Passenger signal switches (FO's kneepad) - VC gyropilot heading tooltip - fuel pressure drops to 6psi at idle (950 - 1000 rpm) and goes to 7psi when the engines are throttled up Added: - mooring buoy behaviour changed so that aircraft no longer drifts when moored - if the mooring buoys are drawn in, any open doors are closed - weather station check for thunderstorms. If a storm is detected, the RDF needles will behave erratically
  6. Hi, When operating ActiveSky in Manual mode, if I set anything other than "Unlimited" in <Visibility> I get a very hazy, limited visibility. For example, if I set 50 miles the actual visibility rendered is a very hazy +/- 10 miles. I wouldlike the usual control over visibility to be restored. I am using P3Dv5.1.
  7. I'm not sure if anyone is encountering a similar issue with any other addons, but for me, my copy of WSSS by Imaginesim takes way too long to load into. On a fresh install of P3Dv5, with no other addons installed and on default settings, loading up at the airport takes up to 10 minutes with the loading bar frozen at 5-6%. After the sim loads up, I don't encounter any other issue, and everything works fine while running at 50-110fps. Flying into WSSS is also a headache. Everything works completely fine until I start to approach the airport and there are 2 things that could happen: 1) At around 40nm away, when the scenery starts to get loaded into the sim, the sim would freeze for 5-10 minutes. After which, everything works fine with no other performance issues. 2) There would not be any sim freeze, but only the airport terminal models are loaded in, without either ground or model textures loaded. Runways and taxiways are not visible. On the Imaginesim operations center, I've tried unchecking all optional extras, while setting both the texture quality and parking density to the lowest settings. There is no difference made to the loading times. I've also tried installing and loading into other high detail addon airports. While the loading times are slower compared to a default airport, it is only around a minute long compared to the 5-10 I encounter at WSSS. I'm at my wits end. Contacting Imaginesim support did not help much, they suggested that it might be due to high file fragmentation, and I should try reinstalling the scenery. I have reinstalled the scenery multiple times to no avail. My peers who own the scenery are reporting load times of under a minute, so I believe it's something to do with either my hardware or some other obscure software issue. My hardware specs are as follows: CPU: Intel Core i7 9700k turboed to 4.5-4.9GHz Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus XI hero GPU: ASUS ROG RTX2070Super 8GB RAM: 2x GSkill TridentZ 16GB 3200MHz SSD: WD Black SN750 1TB NVMe OS: Windows 10 Pro Version 1909 Thank you in advance! Darren

  9. I leave you to interpret whether that refers to the 747 or P3D 😉 Early morning departure out of SFO for MEM.
  10. Enjoying the latest ASP3D release! Not sure why people dislike these clouds, I love them. Climbing above the OVC layer on departure from AMS Arrival into VLC. Note: I changed the MCP to Collins midflight 😄 Thanks for viewing!
  11. Hi guys, don't throw with stones...I know that the scenery is not yet compatible with v5 but did any of you guys manage to get it "work" with v5? PS: I will go for anew PC build next month and therefore not afraid braking the sim 🤪
  12. Climbing out of TJSJ on a short hop to TNCM. Thanks for looking. Dave
  13. Please be kind, I’m not a good screenshot taker, but I’m amazed by the smoothness on my system, never has any sim looked so good on any of my PC’s 👍 Apparently I underestimated departure weather conditions 🤯 And LOWI is still gorgeous! Cheers, Pete
  14. How important is this setting in v5? I was used to have it at "ultra" but now with v5 I also tried "high" and did not see any difference on terrain. What settings do you use and what's the impact on VRAM?
  15. I wanna wrap myself in these clouds when I go to bed tonight. trueSKY clouds are nothing short of amazing and it's what I've been waiting for to come to any of our sims for a long time. I can only emphasize how much of an understatement the initial trailer of the sim was. I was disappointed back then but playing with the new atmospherics myself is dropping mouth-watering results. Can't wait to see what Active Sky will be able to do with trueSKY. This is vanilla P3D v5. Sliders all the way to the right with a few exceptions for shadow settings. VRAM was rather stable at 4.1 to 4.3 GB, no matter how many clouds. FPS stayed around 80 for the most part with slight outliers up and down of around 10. I varied the amount of clouds layers and at some point piled 6 layers on top of one another, so I don't know where the rumor came from that trueSKY restricts the number of clouds layers to 2.
  16. LINDA 3.2.6 provides compatibility with the new Prepar3D v5 (P3Dv5) 64-bit flight simulator and FSUIPC6 6.0.10. It can also be used with Prepar3D v4.x using FSUIPC6. This release requires a registered version FSUIPC6 6.0.10 or later to work. It is no longer compatible with FSUIPC5 or FSUIPC4 and all existing 32-bit flight simulators (FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv3.4) - use LINDA 3.1.1 instead Changes This release maintains internal changes to support development and distribution. It also contains more comprehensive logging to aid fault diagnosis. It is functionally the same as LINDA 3.2.5. The following key changes have been made to the LINDA GUI and core functionality: Added compatibility for Provisional F-35A USB Cards (3.2.6). Improved logging and error trapping (3.2.6). Installation The installation differs from previous LINDA versions and care should be used to achieve the correct installation. First install P3Dv5 to a directory of your choice before installing the latest version of FSUIPC6 (version 6.0.10 or later). It is strongly recommended that FSUIPC6 may be installed in: c:/users/{yourname}/documents/prepar3d v5 add-ons/FSUIPC6 (new install location) You can tick both P3Dv5 and P3Dv4 boxes during the FSUIPC6 installation. Un-zip the folder and copy all files and folders into the above folder created above. Answer Yes to all overwrite requests and tick the apply to all boxes. The correct installation should look like: /FSUIPC6 /linda /linda-cfg FSUIPC6.dll FSUIPC6.ini FSUIPC6.key ipcReady.lua linda.exe linda.lua You can copy your existing fsuipc5.ini and rename it fsuipc6.ini. You can also copy your old /linda/aircrafts and /linda-cfg/aircrafts folders with all LINDA settings to the FSUIPC6 folder created above. Similarily, any .MCRO files should be copied into the same FSUIPC6 folder. Limitations This release to provide improved compatibility with FSUIPC6 and P3Dv5. A number of limitations and issues still exist and the cause(s) is being investigated: Some Access Violation error message may be reported if the installation location and files are incorrect. Report the LINDA version and build number (on About page eg. 3.2.1.942) and the error address (eg. 007F7123). Please read the enclosed release notes for all details for correct installation and on new features. All issues and problems should be reported on the LINDA Support sub-forum. 17. Don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but about an hour into a flight, my RC SimConnect widow will begin to flicker. Eventually, on a longer flight, it will disappear altogether. This has happened in both PMDG and Aerosoft aircraft, so they are not the culprit. Any ideas? Thanks..
  18. I took the recently released Xtreme Prototypes Learjet 25 v3.0 on a 1200 nm flight from Tivat Airport in Montenegro to Ambrolauri Airport in Georgia. My route: I've always wanted to visit Georgia, the very picturesque setting of the many towns and villages between the mountains is particularly appealing, as is the food I've heard so much about. On the descent after having passed waypoint TAGAR. The peaks of Alaniya National Park in the background. Ambrolauri Airport (UGAM) in sight, tucked away in a valley right next to the Rioni River. Great weather for a visual approach to RWY 29, the final descent could be tricky though due to the surrounding terrain. The unmistakable shape of the stunning Learjet 25D. The approach into Ambrolauri Airport is going to be pure eye candy. Turning to the north to head into the valley. The terrain feature of the GTN 750 is definitely helpful here. Turning back to the west now to head down the valley on final approach. The airport is now at my 1 o'clock just beyond the ridge ahead. Runway in sight, final landing checks complete. Cleared to land, what a great approach to fly! Almost lined up now, speed checked. The Rioni River borders the eastern edge of the airport. Moments from touchdown now, there is a very slight crosswind. And touchdown, welcome to Ambrolauri Airport! The airport terminal with its unique and unmistakable design. PBR splendor! Thank you David Hilker, you have created a real gem with this unique airport! I can highly recommend this stunning freeware airport that is now available for P3Dv5!
  19. Feeling a bit nostalgic today as Delta flew their final MD-88 flight IAD-ATL. Of course I recreated the flight and took just a few shots: At the gate, IAD Love those reverser buckets! Mission accomplished at the gate, ATL. I've always had a fascination with the Douglas/McDonnell Douglas T-tails that started with my love of Air Canada DC-9-32's as a kid...to the point that I'm probably going to end up paying to have the Leonardo Maddog painted in the 1980's Air Canada DC-9 scheme. Sad to see these aircraft heading off to pasture but they've had a great career, and time marches on. Thanks for having a look. Dave
  20. I am currently using P3Dv4.5 HF2 and planning to begin a gradual migration to v5 as developers release compatible versions. I went to P3D to get away from OOM's. In the past, if I have tweaked its been to get image quality and smoothness and not fps. I haven't bought V5 yet. In following the posts about v5, I am seeing references to having to adjust P3D settings to manage Graphics card RAM to avoid, "out of" conditions, Windows 10 2004 graphics card RAM management changes, Nvidia drivers optimized for DX12, etc. Even without intentionally overclocking my CPU and GPU, there are issues about with/without Hyperthreading, using available CPU turbo mode, Core affinity assignments, etc. and what they do sim performance like smoothness as well as to CPU and GPU temperatures. My recently acquired system has decent cooling but I don't want to inadvertently toast anything. The monitoring I have seen is the fps display in P3D and Task Manager related CPU and VPU monitoring. In my experience (which admittedly is limited) every change to Task Manager settings pauses P3D and it doesn't monitor temperatures. I would like to have something I can park on my second monitor that will watch all of the key FS-related system performance metrics in P3Dv5 with minimal setting changes. I don't know what P3Dv5 already provides. I am willing to use a reasonably priced payware solution. Your experience and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Stephen Bickford
  21. Hi everyone, one thing I've noticed is that my ground textures are very blurry. This isn't the usual textures not loading due to high speed flying (I don't think), it seems to happen all the time even with the aircraft stationary. This happens both at ORBX fields, regions, and outside regions (I do use ORBX Global textures). I didn't have this issue in v4. I tried to take a screenshot of my settings but it didn't seem to work. However I have high resolution ground textures enabled, and am running at 4096x4096 texture resolution. I don't want to paste my entire Prepar3d.cfg here and take up a bunch of space, but here are a few of the sections that I assume are most relevant. 22. Hi all, I’m sort of a set-it-and-forget-it type, and honestly I’ve never really done anything with nVidia Control Panel (NCP for short) and v4.5, nor in v5 now. I was checking some monitor settings and saw the controls in the NCP for P3D. I’d honestly forgotten it was even there. I always do all my graphics settings in the game. I noticed that for a lot of the settings in NCP, you don’t have an option for using the game setting. It’s either on or off. So is NCP controlling some of my P3D graphics settings without me realizing it? In other words, do I need to make sure that the setting on the NCP is allowing me to change the setting in the game, or am I thinking too much? Or perhaps it’s that if there isn’t an option to use the in-game setting, P3D doesn’t have a setting for that? It’s sort of confusing why there is “Use in-game setting” for some things and not for others And which is better - should I be changing the setting in-game, or doing it through NCP? Thanks!
  23. Hi all, I'm a RW IFR pilot, who tried v5 when it first came out, got a refund after seeing a lot of issues, but just repurchased it. I just did a flight in the Commander and it's obviously monumentally improved with HF1. But about the clouds: The look of them from a distance, to me anyway, is sort of cheesy. I really prefer what I'm used to seeing with the REX products in v4.5. However, how the clouds functinon as you fly through them is just night and day in v4.5 vs. v5. The 2D clouds never really bothered me in 4.5 and I could never figure out what everyone got so worked up over. But v5 is just amazing - true immersion in the clouds. There's no transition from outside a cloud to inside it to outside again. You actually fly into it and out of it. It functions like a real cloud. Just amazing. I think base v5 is a great starting point and the developers will come up with some neat stuff. But the clouds are great, a real improvement.
  24. Hi, everybody! Today I went on a longhaul flight with the AS A330 and wrote a tripreport about it. DLH 594 EDDF/FRA (Frankfurt am Main/Germany) -> DNAA/ABV (Abuja/Nigeria) Airbus Industrie A330-300 D-AIKO, MSN 989 While we are just getting to our aircraft, the handler is already loading the food for the almost 6 hours flight into the Airbus. While the IRS is alligning, we can take a look at the OFP. Here is a short overview for the air traffic controllers: We take off on Frankfurts Runway 25C, then turn south to follow the ANEKI departure. From there, we actually just continue south, across the Black Forest, the Swiss and Italian Alps, Genoa, then across the Mediterranean Sea, passing Corsica and Sardinia towards Algeria. There we pass the Atlas Mountains, the cities of Constantine and El Oued, between Tamanrasset and Djanet further towards Niger. There we continue via Agadez and the former capital Zinder to Nigeria, where we fly over the city of Kano in the north. Then we start the approach to the 22 of Abuja. We'll take 40 tons of fuel with us. That is already well calculated, only about 31.5 tons are needed for the flight itself. But you never know how the thunderstorms will be over Nigeria, so an additional reserve will not hurt. Time to have a look around the plane. But all good, there is even time for a small photo: As we are unfortunately still in the middle of the Corona crisis, we don't have many passengers with us, only 153, but we can take a bit more freight with us, 23.7 tons. This brings us to ZFW of 162 t, which is quite a lot for the A330. In the meantime the boarding is almost finished and we are picking up our IFR clearance. A little bit surprising we get the RWY 18, and not the 25C. But good, it is quickly changed. After the boarding is completed, we also get the Pushback Clearance and are (almost) on time. From stand A50 we are allowed to push a pretty good bit up to N7: Meanwhile we start the engines, so that we can taxi to runway 18 without delay after pushback. We haven't even been to the holding point yet, they told us: "Lufthansa 594, wind 160 at 6, Runway 18, clear for takeoff!" And of course you don't have to be told twice, let's go! At a Vr of 165 kts we take off, Positive Climb, Gear Up! The climbout from Frankfurt was a bit boring because of clouds. Over Switzerland, however, the clouds have cleared up and a great alpine panorama was to be seen: But also some minutes later, over Italy, everything was full of clouds again. After not even 2 hours in the flight we reached the African mainland, here a picture over Algeria, shortly after we flew over the third largest city of Algeria - namely Constantine: ... After that, nothing comes except of sand for the time being: The Sahara. After some time clouds come up again, the ground becomes a bit greener and looks more inhabited again. A good time to enter our approach to the MCDU. As planned it will be the RWY 22 in Abuja, will be a really nice and comfortable approach. The outside temperature is 32°C, so it will be really pleasant... Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, has 2.7 million inhabitants and is located northwest of the airport. The airport... Wait, we just started our descent. The airport has 2 terminals and handles about 2 million passengers per year - it is the second largest airport in Nigeria after Lagos. It has a runway which is 3600 meters long, more than enough for our A330: And as we sink through the clouds, the landscape becomes greener and greener: And then we are already on the ILS, which leads us to runway 22: Flaps one - flaps two - gear down! Approx. 2000 ft AGL we come out of the clouds and the airport is already in sight in the distance! Well, and with soft -103 fpm we bring our A330 also on the ground! Unfortunately there are still no really good airports for Accra, Lagos, Abjua, & co, so unfortunately only the default P3D and GSX flair... Yeah, that's it from my side again! I hope you enjoyed the flight again! Many greetings Matthias
