  1. I have a different problem to the server down issue. When I try and start ActiveSky I get message "Existing Session: There is already an existing session. Do you want to disconnect the other device?". Before doing anything I check Task Manager via Ctl-Alt-Del, and under 'Processes -> APPS I can see <ActiveSky P3D (3)> displayed. I then click on the 'EXisting Session' message above on <YES> to disconnect. This closes the ActiveSky <Start> message and also the entry in <Task Manager> If I now try and restart ActveSky I get the same "Existing Session" message all over again. I am just going round in circles. I have tried re-installing ActiveSky and ActiveSky Connector several times, but with no success. Any help much appreciated.
  2. I’m posting this as a temporary solution to the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error in P3D v5. I have had no repetition of this error since adding the following entries to the Registry. I’m grateful to @srcookefor his help with this. It should be stated this was done with 471.96 drivers. I have stayed with these despite later ones becoming available. Before making any changes to your Registry make a backup. There is plenty of guidance on the web how to do it. As with all these things you do this at your own risk. Start RegEdit. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers Right-click right pane and choose New.. DWORD (32-bit) Value Name it TdrDelay. Double-click it and enter a value of 60 decimal Right-click right pane and choose New.. DWORD (32-bit) Value Name it TdrDdiDelay. Double-click it and enter a value of 60 decimal Exit RegEdit and reboot. I would describe these settings as the best workaround until such time as Nvidia / Microsoft / LM issue updates for DirectX.
  3. I've been painting the iFly 737 Max for P3d for a bit...here are some random pics of them as they were being painted.... I've enjoyed painting her....If only the environment was better in P3D....I'd fly her as much as I do MSFS planes. Hopefully we'll get a MAX for MSFS in 2023. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all.
  4. I have finally decided to try v5.3 since my somewhat better hand-me-down pc is running v4.5 + numerous addons so well. I did this previously on my old pc with v3 + v4. Problem is, I can't recall if there are any special procedures to take when installing FSUIPC6 in v5.3 since it is already installed in v4.5. I googled and searched the fsuipc forum but didn't get any hits. I believe it should be ok, there again memory seems clouded, and it should be a straight install without issues. I'll wait a few minutes to see if there are any replies before proceeding. Kindest regards & Happy holidays!
  5. Hello to all, We are a very small team that may be swimming against the current, but some of us think that Prepar3d still has things to share...! SwissMilSim is about to release the Venom DH-112 for P3Dv4 and P3Dv5. And I just wanted to show you a video of this nice little Swiss Army fighter that was in service between 1946 and 1990... Even if everybody lives only for MSFS..., this model has been very well done, and we hope it will get the support it deserves. Good video to all!
  6. https://fselite.net/content/rdpresets-announces-rdshade-for-p3d/ See by yourself....just a heads-up. Could be really nice. Regards Marcus
  7. Hey Guys, I've been out of the loop for a while with Covid, very gradually getting better but its effects have hung on for a long time that's kept me out of the paint booth as well. I did manage to paint a few 600s and 700s before I got sick, and they are already available at the Flight1 Library here. There are also some 900s and freighters done by Ric (very good painter as well!) All the info about the expansion is here at their forum: http://ifly.flight1.net/forums/advanced-series-737ng-expansion-pack-released_topic20319&FID=13&PR=3.html As I slowly get better, I'm getting back in the paint booth for short stints (before I get fatigued). I've managed to get this 900ER almost done....and will upload her as soon as she's finished. (One of the beta testers is a pilot for Ukraine International, I pray he'll be okay through this current crisis) Its my plan to get better and gradually start painting this excellent aircraft again, providing a variety of paints for all the models now available. I just wish I could recruit more painters. 😞 Let me know if you guys decide to grab the expansion, and post some pics of flights you do with the many variants...I personally love the little 600, Taken SAS on a few short EU flights and Westjet from Ontario to Calgary....if ever a plane was considered "cute"...I'd nominate the 600 for that honor, LoL. FYI....I do plan on giving you guys a "JANET" so you can do those classified flights from KLAS to Groom Lake. 🙂
  8. I'm thinking there is one more thing I have to do to finish this Norwegian livery....but the excessive virtual paint fumes are making it hard to focus....can anyone help a slightly high intoxicated painter figure it out? 🥴
  9. Next in my series of "How cool is PBR?" 😁, here you see another PBR metallic effect, this time on Virgin Australia's text. These are 3 shots in the same position, but 3 different times of day. Look how the appearance of the text changes (and the lady in the front) as the sun changes position. Looks so cool in the sim. While this livery is relatively "easy", with anything metal on the plane, you're painting on 1 albedo (normal) texture map, and a metallic map's 3 of 4 channels. One thing you learn (unless you like duplicating work a lot), is to have the base texture to its final version before working on the PBR effects, or you're doing the work on 4 different places every time, LoL. The finished effect is very cool though, and well worth the effort IMO.
  10. LINDA 3.3.5 provides compatibility with the new Prepar3D v5 (P3Dv5) 64-bit flight simulator and FSUIPC6 6.1.7 or later. It can also be used with Prepar3D v4.x using FSUIPC6. This update contains ONE fix that not all users will need. See note below. This release requires a registered version FSUIPC6 6.1.7 or later to work. It is no longer compatible with FSUIPC5 or FSUIPC4 and all existing 32-bit flight simulators (FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv3.4) - use LINDA 3.1.1 instead Changes This release maintains internal changes to support development and distribution. This version provides compatibility with the VRInsight CDU2 and CDU3 panels. Special thanks go to Nicolas Hutter for his inspiration and invaluable contribution for this new CDU development. Otherwise, this version the same functionally as LINDA 3.2.6. The following key changes have been made to the LINDA GUI and core functionality: Fixed issue with configuration file load errors with unexpected symbol (3.3.5). See note below. Fixed issue with Multi Panel Glideslope mode (3.3.4). Fixed issue with Multi Panel Height units in GUI (3.3.4). Fixed FSUIPC version number displayed (3.3.4). Added Extras for creating special aircraft module builds (Developer only) (3.3.4). Added additional error trapping (3.3.4). Added extra error trapping (3.3.3). Added check for Registered copy of FSUIPC (3.3.2). Fixed LINDA sounds (3.3.2). Fixed error loading MCP2 configuration (3.3.1). Added VRInsight CDU2 and CDU3 functionality including presets for most popular Airbus and Boeing aircraft (3.3.0). Added Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and TCA joysticks (3.3.0). ****************************************************************** IMPORTANT NOTICE This release addresses an issue some users have experienced with an error caused by an unexpected symbol found when loading certain configuration file (config-sys.lua and config-hid.lua). The previous fix referred to Language Support and UTF-8. The release may cause some initial errors when LINDA is loaded. Users should check the fsuipc6.log (in LINDA Console) for errors like: [E] ** LUA Error: error loading module 'linda-cfg/system/config-sys' from file ... unexpected symbol near 'i' In such cases should force a save of config-sys.lua by clicking twice on SYNC TO SIM and of config-hid.lua by selecting Joystick page and assigning Do nothing to one empty button and clicking save. This may need to be done for each aircraft used. After these actions users should not experience any further issues. ****************************************************************** Installation The installation differs from previous LINDA versions and care should be used to achieve the correct installation. First install P3Dv5 to a directory of your choice before installing the latest version of FSUIPC6 (version 6.x or later). It is strongly recommended that FSUIPC6 is installed in a root directory, eg: F:/FSUIPC6 You can tick both P3Dv5 and P3Dv4 boxes during the FSUIPC6 installation. There should also be a folder /FSUIPC6 in the Prepar3d v5 add-ons/ folder containing a single add-ons.xml file directed at the installed folder. Un-zip the folder and copy all files and folders into the above folder created above. Answer Yes to all overwrite requests and tick the apply to all boxes. The correct installation should look like: /FSUIPC6 /linda /linda-cfg FSUIPC6.dll FSUIPC6.ini FSUIPC6.key ipcReady.lua linda.exe linda.lua You can copy your existing fsuipc5.ini and rename it fsuipc6.ini. You can also copy your old /linda/aircrafts and /linda-cfg/aircrafts folders with all LINDA settings to the FSUIPC6 folder created above. Similarily, any .MCRO files should be copied into the same FSUIPC6 folder. Limitations This release to provide improved compatibility with FSUIPC6 and P3Dv5. A number of limitations and issues still exist and the cause(s) is being investigated: Some Access Violation error message may be reported if the installation location and files are incorrect. Report the LINDA version and build number (on About page eg. 3.2.1.942) and the error address (eg. 007F7123). Please read the enclosed release notes for all details for correct installation and on new features. All issues and problems should be reported on the LINDA Support sub-forum. 11. How important is this setting in v5? I was used to have it at "ultra" but now with v5 I also tried "high" and did not see any difference on terrain. What settings do you use and what's the impact on VRAM?
  12. Climbing out of TJSJ on a short hop to TNCM. Thanks for looking. Dave
  13. Please be kind, I’m not a good screenshot taker, but I’m amazed by the smoothness on my system, never has any sim looked so good on any of my PC’s 👍 Apparently I underestimated departure weather conditions 🤯 And LOWI is still gorgeous! Cheers, Pete
  14. I wanna wrap myself in these clouds when I go to bed tonight. trueSKY clouds are nothing short of amazing and it's what I've been waiting for to come to any of our sims for a long time. I can only emphasize how much of an understatement the initial trailer of the sim was. I was disappointed back then but playing with the new atmospherics myself is dropping mouth-watering results. Can't wait to see what Active Sky will be able to do with trueSKY. This is vanilla P3D v5. Sliders all the way to the right with a few exceptions for shadow settings. VRAM was rather stable at 4.1 to 4.3 GB, no matter how many clouds. FPS stayed around 80 for the most part with slight outliers up and down of around 10. I varied the amount of clouds layers and at some point piled 6 layers on top of one another, so I don't know where the rumor came from that trueSKY restricts the number of clouds layers to 2.
  15. Hi guys, don't throw with stones...I know that the scenery is not yet compatible with v5 but did any of you guys manage to get it "work" with v5? PS: I will go for anew PC build next month and therefore not afraid braking the sim 🤪
  16. Subsequent to the issues reported after last week's release, we're pleased to announce the availability of a HF1 patch! HF1 of the B314 addresses the following: Fixed: - comm radios tuning from mouse correctly - fuel transfer working correctly when driven from the handpump - all fuel transfer and handpump action ceases if the sim is paused - wrong normal map showing under the Passenger signal switches (FO's kneepad) - VC gyropilot heading tooltip - fuel pressure drops to 6psi at idle (950 - 1000 rpm) and goes to 7psi when the engines are throttled up Added: - mooring buoy behaviour changed so that aircraft no longer drifts when moored - if the mooring buoys are drawn in, any open doors are closed - weather station check for thunderstorms. If a storm is detected, the RDF needles will behave erratically
  17. Just released this paint for our Aussie friends for the iFly 737 for P3D v5.....Sorry for neglecting this region thus far 'Mates....will endeavor to keep pushing out paints to cover the global simming community. 🙂 Notice the flag.....still trying to find out the history of this version of the flag as it appears on the aircraft vs the current Australian flag...hoping someone can give me the history....I couldn't find it while researching this paint.
  18. Hi all, I’m sort of a set-it-and-forget-it type, and honestly I’ve never really done anything with nVidia Control Panel (NCP for short) and v4.5, nor in v5 now. I was checking some monitor settings and saw the controls in the NCP for P3D. I’d honestly forgotten it was even there. I always do all my graphics settings in the game. I noticed that for a lot of the settings in NCP, you don’t have an option for using the game setting. It’s either on or off. So is NCP controlling some of my P3D graphics settings without me realizing it? In other words, do I need to make sure that the setting on the NCP is allowing me to change the setting in the game, or am I thinking too much? Or perhaps it’s that if there isn’t an option to use the in-game setting, P3D doesn’t have a setting for that? It’s sort of confusing why there is “Use in-game setting” for some things and not for others And which is better - should I be changing the setting in-game, or doing it through NCP? Thanks!
  19. I took the recently released Xtreme Prototypes Learjet 25 v3.0 on a 1200 nm flight from Tivat Airport in Montenegro to Ambrolauri Airport in Georgia. My route: I've always wanted to visit Georgia, the very picturesque setting of the many towns and villages between the mountains is particularly appealing, as is the food I've heard so much about. On the descent after having passed waypoint TAGAR. The peaks of Alaniya National Park in the background. Ambrolauri Airport (UGAM) in sight, tucked away in a valley right next to the Rioni River. Great weather for a visual approach to RWY 29, the final descent could be tricky though due to the surrounding terrain. The unmistakable shape of the stunning Learjet 25D. The approach into Ambrolauri Airport is going to be pure eye candy. Turning to the north to head into the valley. The terrain feature of the GTN 750 is definitely helpful here. Turning back to the west now to head down the valley on final approach. The airport is now at my 1 o'clock just beyond the ridge ahead. Runway in sight, final landing checks complete. Cleared to land, what a great approach to fly! Almost lined up now, speed checked. The Rioni River borders the eastern edge of the airport. Moments from touchdown now, there is a very slight crosswind. And touchdown, welcome to Ambrolauri Airport! The airport terminal with its unique and unmistakable design. PBR splendor! Thank you David Hilker, you have created a real gem with this unique airport! I can highly recommend this stunning freeware airport that is now available for P3Dv5!
  20. Feeling a bit nostalgic today as Delta flew their final MD-88 flight IAD-ATL. Of course I recreated the flight and took just a few shots: At the gate, IAD Love those reverser buckets! Mission accomplished at the gate, ATL. I've always had a fascination with the Douglas/McDonnell Douglas T-tails that started with my love of Air Canada DC-9-32's as a kid...to the point that I'm probably going to end up paying to have the Leonardo Maddog painted in the 1980's Air Canada DC-9 scheme. Sad to see these aircraft heading off to pasture but they've had a great career, and time marches on. Thanks for having a look. Dave
  21. I am currently using P3Dv4.5 HF2 and planning to begin a gradual migration to v5 as developers release compatible versions. I went to P3D to get away from OOM's. In the past, if I have tweaked its been to get image quality and smoothness and not fps. I haven't bought V5 yet. In following the posts about v5, I am seeing references to having to adjust P3D settings to manage Graphics card RAM to avoid, "out of" conditions, Windows 10 2004 graphics card RAM management changes, Nvidia drivers optimized for DX12, etc. Even without intentionally overclocking my CPU and GPU, there are issues about with/without Hyperthreading, using available CPU turbo mode, Core affinity assignments, etc. and what they do sim performance like smoothness as well as to CPU and GPU temperatures. My recently acquired system has decent cooling but I don't want to inadvertently toast anything. The monitoring I have seen is the fps display in P3D and Task Manager related CPU and VPU monitoring. In my experience (which admittedly is limited) every change to Task Manager settings pauses P3D and it doesn't monitor temperatures. I would like to have something I can park on my second monitor that will watch all of the key FS-related system performance metrics in P3Dv5 with minimal setting changes. I don't know what P3Dv5 already provides. I am willing to use a reasonably priced payware solution. Your experience and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Stephen Bickford
  22. Don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but about an hour into a flight, my RC SimConnect widow will begin to flicker. Eventually, on a longer flight, it will disappear altogether. This has happened in both PMDG and Aerosoft aircraft, so they are not the culprit. Any ideas? Thanks..
  23. Hi everyone, one thing I've noticed is that my ground textures are very blurry. This isn't the usual textures not loading due to high speed flying (I don't think), it seems to happen all the time even with the aircraft stationary. This happens both at ORBX fields, regions, and outside regions (I do use ORBX Global textures). I didn't have this issue in v4. I tried to take a screenshot of my settings but it didn't seem to work. However I have high resolution ground textures enabled, and am running at 4096x4096 texture resolution. I don't want to paste my entire Prepar3d.cfg here and take up a bunch of space, but here are a few of the sections that I assume are most relevant. 24. I bought this airport last year and have generally been very pleased with it. The only problem I'm having is the number of AIG Ai arriving and having to go-around because the arrivals are so tightly packed at peak times. 1200:1400 local is one. The number of go-arounds is excessive. To alleviate this I have closed 12L / 30R for landings. The airport layout is the problem with no exits around the middle of the runway. I've changed the AFCAD to departures only for that runway. 12R / 30L is now landings only as there are lots of exits along the runway. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so this solution may help especially if you have lots of AIG Ai.
  25. I’ve found a few default airports in P3D v5.x don’t appear until the Scenery Complexity is set to Very Dense. This was not a problem in v4 where they did. There are probably loads. Whether it’s a bug or policy who knows. One example is MUHA. Can you try it and report back either here or on my P3D post at LM. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6314&p=243903#p243903
