  1. Hello @ll, AAO version 2.01 has been released today. The „endless“ setting for MIDI encoders has been fixed. When it is activated, it will make the app repeat the command that has been assigned to a control when it is at the stops (rotary with stops or a slider). For example, when you adjust the AP altitude, you could use a slider. This will work normally in the range that it can travel, and at the stops it will just continue counting up/down until you move it the other way again SimConnect Errors will be caught in most cases now, reducing the probability of a hard crash The “Test” button on the script editor has been fixed This button will now also show the result of a script, so you can use it to query variable values from the sim etc. Global automated scripts have been fixed The “Read HVARs from sim” feature now finds all kinds of things from MSFS – for example undocumented K: - Events and A: Variables. Again several changes under the hood, like running heavy processing in even more separate threads and SimConnect clients It has been deployed on SimMarket already, and should be available shortly on JustFlight too. Best regards

  3. I just downloaded the latest update from Asobo, and want to put out a warning to everyone who hasn't done this yet: there may be a glitch that causes one of the packages to crash and restart it's download multiple times. I wasn't paying attention, and let the download - which was supposed to be 41 gB - proceed unattended while we were eating dinner. By the time I got back to my computer four hours later, the updater had consumed 650 gB, which is 1/2 of my monthly Comcast data cap! So my advice to everyone: NEVER leave MSFS unattended while it is downloading an update, and keep an eye on the process, to make sure you catch a glitch like this before it can consume a huge chunk of your data cap. There are some aircraft upgrades in this package. The Cessna 172 and the Cub Crafter now come with optional floats or skis. I played with C-172 float plane for a while and noticed a few things: 1. There are FINALLY (a full year after first release!) water effects for the sea planes. When you operate the C-172 on water, there is spray, and the floats leave a wake. But the effect doesn't look quite as nice as it did in FSX. The wake dissipates too quickly, and the "spray" doesn't look like it actually goes up into the air at all, which it should, at least 2 or 3 feet. 2. The behavior (flight model) of the C-172 doesn't feel quite right when it touches down or takes off on water. The drag coefficient of the floats may be too low - the plane takes off too easily from water, especially when loaded to maximum weight. And it will take off at max gross weight even with zero flaps, which shouldn't be possible in the real plane, I think. 3. It bounces when touching the water, as if the plane was landing on tundra tires on a hard surface. This seems completely unrealistic. When a floatplane or flying boat touches down on water, there is an immediate drag effect and adhesion between the water and the floats or hull that slows the plane rapidly. It certainly should not bounce back up. 4. The landing gear aren't animated - i.e., they don't extend/retract into and out of the floats when toggled with the "G" key. This is very disorienting when flying in External Camera or Showcase view modes, especially when making an approach to a water landing, and there are the gear hanging down. There is a voice prompt that tells you whether the gear are configured for water or runway landings, but if voice prompts are disabled, you won't hear them. This could all too easily lead to landing on a runway with the gear up [Crash!], if you were flying in external camera view, and saw the gear as "down". 5. This update adds a bunch of new features and modes that are probably meant for PlayStation users, but that interfere with Windows PC functionality. Most annoying is that these modes are the "default", and that you will suddenly find that you can't push buttons or turn knobs on the instrument panel with the mouse. To fix this, you have to go to Options > General Options > Accessibility, and change the Cockpit Interaction System to “Legacy”. It would have been nice if Asobo had included coding in this update that checks what kind of computer it is being installed on, and not set the defaults to PlayStation mode when the update is being installed on a Windows PC. This drove me nuts for a couple of hours before I finally found a posting on the official MSFS forum explaining how to fix this problem.

  9. Hi, I'm pleased to announce the official v2.2.6 release! Just go to 'Plugin | Reality XP GNS | GNS # | Check for updates...' List of changes (since v2.2.5): Changed AlwaysOn option to PowerSource. 2 Additional datarefs for the master device: DTK and XTK 2 New RealityXP.GNS.ini file settings Using xSquawkBox SDK to drive RX/TX flags (unsupported for now) Corrects bug when rebooting the device. Corrects bug with overridden DTK and BRG dataref values. Correct visual bug when rendering the gauge window with large w/h ratio. Additional notes (v2.2.6): The first time you run the new version, the 'AlwaysOn' option gets converted to the new 'PowerSource' option, which now offers: Always On, Avionics Bus and Battery Bus. The 2 new datarefs from the master device are (DTK and XTK respectively): RXP/radios/indicators/gps_course_degtm RXP/radios/indicators/gps_cross_track_nm The 2 new settings are 'locked' and 'LogTrainer' and are explained p14 of the User's Manual. The later is in case of 'trainer crashing' or similar issues. The former is for third party vendors needing to ensure some settings are not altered. The xSquawkBox integration for the RX and the TX flags is preliminary and not supported at this time. This means it has been untested and we expect your feedback to further improve this integration! The bugs were more less severe. The first one is a severe one and has been there for a long time unnoticed. It caused the device internals to update at 4hz after a reboot (power cycles off/on, changes in settings requiring a reboot etc...) instead of its nominal update rate. The second bug was a typical magvar error, the third one was solely graphical (wrong transformations when rotating the buttons). Download link for both e-commerce installers
  10. Hello @ll, Lorby Live Traffic has been updated to version 1.01 - It now includes a database with runways, generated from MakeRunways data. This will help the aircraft to find and actually land on the correct runway more reliably ("delete below..:" has to be set to 0). - The AI guidance model has been optimized to reduce the effect that AI are "catching up" to their real-world counterpart, and start hunting for the correct flight path. The update is available from the Lorby-SI website. Due to the size of the app, it had to be split into 4 packages to download - one for each simulator. Make sure that you download and install the correct version for your sim. Best regards

  16. As many know, Angle of Attack has been providing great training since the LevelD 767 and I have enjoyed and been greatly helped by their video programs like so many others. Now Angle of Attack is offering training by a real commercial pilot, for the recently released QualityWings 787 at a very good discount price. I know because I have all of their training programs and I believe this is the least that I have ever paid, even going as far back as the LevelD training program. Below, I would like to share the email that I received from Chris Palmer of Angle Of Attack Training: ------------------------------------------------- Angle Of Attack Training Sign Up for QualityWings 787 Training Sign Up for New Quality Wings 787 Training Fellow Aviators, As many of you know, a main part of our history here at Angle of Attack involves Flight Simulation Training. If you are a Flight Sim Enthusiast, this email is for you. It is our pleasure to announce training for the QualityWings 787. Jason Sokoloff of the AOA Team has put together this great training package to give all you 787 drivers training from the get-go. The 787 is a cutting edge piece of technology, and is much different than any other aircraft for which we've offered training in the past. For example, did you know that the 787 is a 'bleed-less' aircraft? That's right, no bleed air systems. Everything is electrical. That makes this aircraft, and this training, a unique look into the the future of commercial aviation. We've setup this training as a long, thorough, in-depth sequential flight, broken down into the phases of flight. This way you get information on how to operate the systems and fly the aircraft in each phase of flight. Here is the lesson breakdown: Lesson 1 -- 20:22 Lesson 2 -- 17:12 Lesson 3 -- 28:00 Lesson 4 -- 15:08 Lesson 5 -- 22:23 Lesson 6 -- 8:25 Lesson 7 -- 7:50 Lesson 8 -- 29:20 Lesson 9 -- 22:07 Introduction Cold & Dark Power-Up Preflight Part 1 Preflight Part 2 Pushback & Startup Takeoff Climb Descent Approach & Landing The introductory price is $18 USD. The cost will go up to $27 USDafter two weeks. All the material is instantly accessible through our online training website/portal. We wish you the best in your future flights in the QualityWings 787, and enjoy learning this aircraft through our training. Sincerely, The Angle of Attack Crew ------------------------------------------------------------------
  17. Hello @ll, after discovering the next violation of the XML spec by a well-known product, I have decided to add an XML sanitizer process to the P4AO. This process will take a look at all the XML files that are supposed to represent addons, and it will correct all XML tags that are not as required by the specification. This is done to the best of its abilities, and there are still options to screw an add-on.xml up. I can only urge everyone not to handle these files like simple textfiles, be it manually or programmatically. Use proper XML serializers, obey the encoding rules and make absolutely sure that your tag names are as they should be according to the P3D Learning Center. And take note of the W3C spec what an XML file actually is. The new P4AO / Addon Organizer version is available for donwload on the Lorby-SI website, section "DOWNLOADS". Important: I can only test this tool with the addons that I have. So be careful when using it, especially now with the "sanitizer". Best regards
