  1. Updated October 7, 2017 Updated Shared Cockpit Airliner List Below There are many terrific aircraft in flight sim, but as far as many experienced flight simmers are concerned the two best aircraft (fidelity, realism, performance) ever developed for desktop flight simulation are the Majestic Dash 8 Q400 Professional and the Leonardo Fly the Maddog MD-80 Professional. The guys at Leonardo did things with the MD-80 back with FS2004 that nobody else did until Majestic released the Dash 8, but even the Dash was developed under FSX (and then P3D) and Leonardo did these things under FS2004! Of course both these aircraft are Shared Cockpit capable! The Maddog was ported over to FSX, meaning that there was no way it could be ported again into P3DV1/2/3, and certainly not into P3DV4. I'd communicated with Davide (owner of Leonardo Software) several times over the years about updating the Maddog, and even tried to get other developers including Aerosoft interested in purchasing the rights or working with Leonardo to re-develope the Maddog for FSX and P3D, but nobody was interested. I then opened talks with Davide about purchasing the rights to the Maddog software, but that too didn't work out. This aircraft is so terrific that several friends and I have kept FSX installed for the sole purpose of flying her and one other aircraft (MD-11), but overall it seemed that the flight sim community would loose this amazing aircraft. UPDATE: Last week it was announced that Leonardo has already begin work on re-writing the Maddog software for P3DV4! I've spoken with Davide and my primary Shared Cockpit test partner (Grant) from the Dash 8 Q400 Professional project will be helping with the new Maddog. Regarding the Dash 8 Q400... if you're not aware, Majestic changed their mind about the development timeline for making the Dash 8 compatible with P3DV4, so we'll have this, the other of the two best aircraft ever developed for desktop flight sim, back in our hanger as well! For those who haven't experienced flying either of these two STELLAR aircraft - especially in Shared Cockpit, you'll be in for a MAGNIFICENT EXPERIENCE. With that, I'm EXCITED to update the Airliner Shared Cockpit list. It's going to be a GREAT 2017/2018 for shared cockpit flying!!! Best wishes to everyone.
  2. I am learning the Majestic Q400 and I really enjoy flying it on short hops as I do not enjoy extended flights that much. Got most of the issues sorted. There is one thing that I am wondering about. When engaging the AP the plane seems to be in a constant slip with a wing low. I noticed in the Sample flight that they mention that you can should use rudder trim to trim the aircraft in order to align the slip/skid indicator and trimming a few degrees right does bring the wings level as well. My question is, is this normal behavior for the Q400. I would have thought that the AP would automatically trim the aircraft correctly.
  3. Hi everyone,I would like to release a project of mine as payware (or shareware), but I'm wondering if it's legal. Here's what I have;1. The original bitmaps and gauges are by someone else.2. Contact with this person (Dmitry Stepin) has been unsuccessful. This is due to an inactive email address supplied in the readme.3. I don't know if Bombardier requires a license.4. The readme of the original freeware panel says the following: " This panel is released as freeware. Gauges or panel modifying and improving are welcomed. Redistrubution original or modified panel and gauges is allowed, but please give credit." Does this mean I can or can't release this as a payware package? 5. I've done major modifications for maximum realism, which will be verified by my friend, a Q400 pilot. 6. It would be released as a panel only, with a link to the freeware Dreamwings package. I would sell it for only about $5, maybe less. 7. Here is the original panel, as available from FlightSim.com; dash8q4.zip Thanks for any replies, as I'll be excited to get this up as my first payware package if it's legal. And, if it's successful, I'll be moving on to create a 717, something that's definitely missing from the FSX community. Another project would be the Q100/Q200/Q300 panel.
  4. I found this script on the Internet : https://forum.simflight.com/topic/76236-majestic-q400-v-speed-calculator-and-setter/ , but unfortunately the creator of this script is offline... the script is very good, but it has some flaws and it is very difficult to make changes to it without the knowledge of the scrip;( everything is good, you just need to add a correction in the wind, but the landing speed is Vref and Vapp, which is not entirely correct, correct Vref and VCLIMB(need for go-around). since there is already a Vref, you only need to change the Vapp to VCLIMB, work with data on VCLIMB should be minimal since values are very small and they are tied to rounded weight and flap position.
  5. Hello, I've had a look around for the answer and seem to get conflicting responses, how do I customize the FA announcements In the Dash 8? I've trimmed the relevant audio In Audicity, I found where the announcements are In the majestic folders; but I cant for the life of me get my custom audio to play In the Dash 8... Could somebody explain to me the process please?? Kind Regards Adam Chapman
  6. And in the news today, We are revealing a quick glimpse of what's been going on since our last announcement back in October, which was the release of the P3D v4.x version of the Q400. The Multi-Monitor Panel: While this may not be exhilarating news for most, the enthusiasts and cockpit builders should appreciate this new development which will enhance the upcoming TRAINING Edition of the Q400 - The Multi-Monitor Panel. These panels will allow users to control all knobs and switches via finger manipulation. Also, the glare-shield (not shown in the image, for the time being) will be split into several sections, along with other components of the flight deck, which too shall have finger control functionality. The stand-alone Captain and First Officer panels "will not" have finger control functionality. Many of you are reading expeditiously through the Q400 information with hopes that we would be adding an update on the long-awaited Q300 v2. Many have sent personal messages to us via Facebook and our Support asking daily "if the Q300 project has been postponed?" No, the Q300 project is very much still in work, but we have to put our focus more so now that before into the Q400 so that it can be released hopefully soon. We are approaching the final stages of development, and then begin the next round of beta testing. We will be sure to share updates as we see fit on the Q300, kindly be patient. As always, we thank you all for your continued support. The Majestic Software Team [Oleksiy, Simeon, Dimitri & Nikolai] -kroswynd
  7. I usually don't touch these sorts of planes... but this was on sale recently and it's one I've wanted for some time. You'll see some wrong indications on the instrumentation because I'm still a noob, but here's a flight from KMSP to KDLH, and I shot the RNAV Ry 27. Feel free to tell me what I'm doing wrong - and is there a way to set nose wheel steering to my pedals or ailerons? Using the mouse is annoying. And the blue lights -I see this on all my P3D stuff - anyone know why they are blue? 9. I just bought Q400 Inmersion package and although a new reactivation requested has been provided the Q400 Inmersion in not present in my purchased packages. I have activated the license number and adding the serial number states it is already activated but it is not listed in VFX Central package manager so it's not working. Any help? JM
  10. Hi All, Been a long while since I painted an aircraft but got the bug to paint up something for the Q400 and what started as "just 1" ended up with 10 paints. All the logos were converted to vector images in Illustrator and brought into Photoshop and the colors are the actual CMYK values found on many of the University's websites. A lot of information gathering went into this "little" project :-) Here's all the tails I painted up and 9 of official liveries have been packaged up and uploaded to Avsim with 1 being left out so fingers crossed, it should be in the library tomorrow-ish given it's a holiday. Enjoy! This one was a personal project and not included in the upload. If anyone is interested I'd be more than happy to share it!
  11. Hi guys, I just want to report that I cannot use chaseplane in the current experimental version (0.2.74) in the Majestic Dash 8 Q 400. Stadard and Airbus X seems to work fine though. Have a nice week.
