  1. Anyone had any success with adding the GTN750/650 stack to the 3D panel on the XP12 default Laminar C172? I know the text I added to the .acf file in XP11 does not work the same. Any tips or software suggestions that could help me integrate it myself? Plane maker for the 3d panel does not look friendly. It's just weird seeing a 530/430 stack on the panel and toggling 750 / 650 windows . Thanks. Torg
  2. Hello and thank you for your effort. I have just bought the GTN 650 and installed it in XPL 10. I installed the 2.4.0.0 version from the official RXP store, not the release candidate from this forum. During installation I got the trainer install error, but I continued the installation. After finishing the RXP installation I manually unzipped and installed the trainer which the installed downloaded. I did not change any paths, and this is the only Garmin trainer installed. In ProgramData/Reality XP I see foru .dll and one .rxp file. My rxpGTN.xpl.log contains only 17/04/15 18:52:38.748 08836 - ] # win.xpl version 2.4.0.0 My rxpGtnSim.dll.log contains only 17/04/15 18:52:43.370 08836 - ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.4.0.0 Windows 7, latest X Plane 10 version here. After loading my Carenado C172 in the X-Plane at LOWI, I was able to show both of the GTN units. They powered up. I see the home page, and buttons Traffix, Default NAV, Flight Plan, PROC and Nearest were tested and work (subsequent menus appear, I was able to start a simple LOWI DCT LKPR flightplan and even Review it in the Flight Plan menu. The problem is that when I click either Map or Terrain, the unit freezes. No chance to use anything else than until Xplane restart. The Map button remains blue after clicking it, the Terrain button not. Tested twice with XPL restart, both units same behavior. Any ideas? If you need any testing or debugging, let me know. Pavel

  5. Here is a trip to Phoenix from my home airport in my little CJ... When I'm in the CJ I usually have to wait at the end of the line for takeoff...that 737 got a ATC hold so I got to jump ahead of him! Liftoff from 17R...the AA farm in the background. Nice shot of downtown Dallas (One of those buildings is one I work at) In fact, why don't I just show you a shot from my window at work? (one of the dozens of SWA's that buzz by my window everyday into KDAL) That is the "building with a hole in it" right next to ours.) She is a good looking bird! Another glam shot, hehe. I turned the RXP GTN's screen to all black by turning off the Topo option (2 taps on the screen) as it really helps to simplify the view....no need for terrain awareness at 40,000 feet! Beautiful mountains below a lovely plane. You can't deny Carenado puts stunning detail in their models. Easing down into the pattern, the GTN set on Chart view...sometimes I like it better with its North-Up orientation vs the map on the ND with it rotating as you turn. Easy to see here that I'm just south of the localizer, going to capture in about 10 seconds. On the GTN I can also easily see in this view that my radio is tuned to the correct localizer freq. When you first go to this screen you'll notice your view of the map is limited because the relevant info for this chart is on the left in its own window. Simply touch the Split button and the map goes full screen. You're able to zoom in and out, pan all around the map with hand gestures common to any tablet user (or if you have it on your monitor, common mouse clicks and moves) Perfectly lined up now, gear coming down. Looking at the CJ2's instrumentation (cross-checking), you can see the APPR mode is engaged and I am in fact lined up right on the dots on the PFD. GTN mode on Safe Taxi® mode to get to our parking (well you just have to zoom in to a certain level to see the taxiways. The level of zoom it appears at is configurable in the menu...but for those who may not see the taxiways..beware that you can't have your declutter level set to its max...it declutters the taxiways too, hehe. Its just a few clicks to fix it). Ahhh....my little CJ gets to spend the night in the house tonight! All tucked in, beautiful sunset in the background (with a palm tree!) I wish Carenado put an option on the popup menu to remove the pilots from view (esp when it's parked) I have a few more flights lined up with some new birds, I'll keep showing you more features I use (and discover) with the RXP GTN as I progress in my GA career!
  6. Continuing my journey in the PNW region, I'm having a blast flying between the clouds near Orcas Island, and then finally landing at KORS. Most of the work is between 10k and 16,500 ft. I've got dual Reality-XP GTN 750's in this bird! 8. This is a realistic flight from Skagit KBVS to Redding KRDD in the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 SE v3.0. I'm still using P3D v4.5 so unfortunately I wasn't able to check it out in v5 with the nicer skies /atmosphere. If you don't like reading lots of words, my recommendation is to buy the plane right away haha....it hand flies beautifully and accepts the Flight1 or Reality XP GTN units in a few different configurations. It's also very powerful and cruises at a respectable .82 mach (MMO). I found no real issues with performance either. Moving on to the mini review.... This is version 3 of the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25... I've owned all of them, and the changes in this warrant the price for the upgrade - especially the dense manual and the numerous liveries. I can understand though, why some users think it's a little high. I'm currently quite active in P3D and XP11 (and the other thing hah!) Sometimes actively using both sims, with payware addons, makes you appreciate the wonderful options we do have. This Lear is one of them. Anyway, I hopped into the Lear 25 sitting on the ramp in Skagit WA (Orbx), and I had to review the manual for startup. I was spoiled with the simplicity of the small GA props I've been using lately. The lear is a pilot's plane - there are many switches to flip just to get her in the air. Routing was KBVS SEA J65 LMT KRDD at FL410. The lear can go higher but I picked a typical business jet altitude. FL450 is the service ceiling but the absolute is FL510! You'd have to be very light with just the right conditions and step climb for that to happen. Once started, I program the GTN's - just love entering waypoints in those units....so simple - if you don't have the RXP GTN, I highly recommend it! Then I taxi out to runway 4. With covid, air traffic is quite diminished, so ATC initially gives me a climb to FL230. I hand fly the entire climb (albeit with FD enabled) - 250kias under 10k is just an insane climb rate - I really have to push forward and trim heavily. I breathe a little sigh of relief passing 10k, where I nose over slightly gain airspeed to 280 kias for the rest of the climb (I used mach .70 up to FL410). There are no autothrottles on the Lear. A note about the SPD-P climb mode on the autopilot. What I initially thought was this mode was similar to FLC in modern aircraft. Apparently this is not so, and verified by the actual Lear pilot who tested with XP. The SPD-P mode was very unreliable and so unfortunately in this older aircraft, VS is the preferred mode of pitch change. I had some issues using it in P3D as well, and opted for VS mode in climb and descent. I've never flown a Lear (but have a small amount of turbine time) - the aircraft feels great with my controls, heavy but stable, yet controls are responsive. Hand flying is a real pleasure. I did engage autopilot for duration of cruise (I'm pretty lazy ha - but the idea of me holding the yoke for that long sounds terrible). Aside from the mode above, it's a pretty typical autopilot, it's got your lateral NAV/HDG/LOC/APR modes and the VS pitch mode, along with ATT which just holds pitch when pressed. You can change pitch in this mode with the command wheel on the lower center pedestal. You'll see a SPD and MACH button as well - these aren't true to the aircraft but user requested speed hold modes. Pressurization is simple to operate as well - nothing real different from other jets/king airs. Happily at FL410, I'm doing about mach .81 - .82 - and nearly 500 knots over the ground. In a little bizjet that's pretty fast! I can think of maybe one or two other bizjets that would go faster for this size. The Falcon 20 with a MMO of .86 and I think the original Lear 23 did about the same. Up here I'm thinking about the ATIS at RDD, and I'd like to shoot the RNAV (GPS) Rwy 16 via WARSU for practice. The Reality XP GTN 750 easily handles this - I Direct To WARSU after passing LMT, and ATC gives me a "PD" pilot's discretion descent to FL170. I use VSR (vertical speed required) on the GTN to see how to efficiently descend into KRDD on the approach. I'm setting pressurization for field elevation, and for descent, having to definitely pull back the power levers! I get approach clearance from ATC. Passing WARSU, the IF, I'm getting vertical navigation from the WAAS receiver on my GPS, this RNAV 16 approach has LPV minimums, so the glide slope balls appear on my HSI, and I just follow it down like an ILS. Speed-wise, after WARSU I'm still doing 250 kias but starting to slow to 200, for flaps 20 and gear, near the final approach fix I slow further and put gear down and flaps 40. I'm not certain what touchdown speed is but I held 150 kias till short final, then bled off speed for about 135 kias touchdown. Much past that and she drops like a brick. What else can I blab about? Modelling is exquisite in this bird - the instruments and textures, the exterior and cabin look great. The panel lighting is impressive, with a few different flood types, map light and gauge backlighting. It does use dynamic lights and they look superb from the exterior. There was one thing I was a little bummed about - no PBR textures on the exterior. I can understand how creating them could be time consuming - I've done a few repaints in the past and it took forever lol. Still though I just love the extra touch of realism external PBR brings to these old birds! The sounds are amazing as well (I almost forgot to mention them). From the clicks, to engine spool up, to cruise and touchdown. Overall the addon is impressive! I'm a bizjet lover and a GA lover - so this is a no-brainer! Hopefully this helps some of you on the fence and here's a few shots from the flight. Additional products used on this flight: Reality XP GTN 750, Orbx BVS and RDD (and the regions), Active Sky, ENVTEX//SHADE. 9. I've owned the Flysimware Learjet 35A for quite some time. Recently the aircraft received an extensive texture/sound/PBR and overall upgrade. If you don't like reading reviews but you enjoy quality addons, I'd go to the Flysimware store and purchase this right away! It supports a myriad of addon avionics units (I'm running dual Reality XP GTN 750's). Other options are both Flight1 and RXP GNS430/530 units along with F1 GTN as well. There is also a standard "default" GNS from Flysimware. I've read there is a "Pro" version of the Lear coming later with FMS and perhaps a EHSI/PFD. If I'm not mistaken the FMS will have VNAV. I believe it's based around the Universal FMS 3000. Another huge improvement over the old version is the switch sounds, engine sounds, startup/shutdown and many other smaller sounds. I used headphones for my short flight and it sounded great! Perhaps the largest upgrade is the new incredible textures done by @Wickedbacon92. PBR has been added to the Lear's exterior and the interior is vastly improved, especially when viewed from the cabin. There are some cosmetic changes that the astute pilots will notice such as window shape and engine/fuel tank angles and sizes. Finally the flight modelling as been tuned and feels lovely while hand flying! There may some minor items remaining but response from the developer has always been positive. I would expect any outstanding issues to be addressed with a small service pack. This is a quick flight from my old place of work to my current location. Routing is KDLH AGUDE AGUDE5 KFCM. As I approach the Minneapolis area, the M98 tracon will vector aircraft directly over the MSP airport then descend them towards FCM. There is a very narrow "corridor" for this operation and they do a great job in real life! Enjoy! 10. Flying from PAJN to PAKT....ran (or flew more appropriately) into this waypoint that inspired the title of this post. 🙂 Love flying the TBM in Alaska!
  11. Included with the aircraft is already a configuration file for the GTN 750. I'm trying to add down instead of the regular 530 panel from X-plane, the panel from RXP GNS530. But nothing happens. tried to use the config laid out here. But it doesn't change anything either. Can anyone help?

  13. Here is a series from my latest flight using the ever-useful RXP GTN. For reference (I mentioned in my last post but not everyone views every post, hehe), The GTN usually sits on my lap on a tablet, I drag the screen onto the main view for the screenshots to reference how I'm using it for navigation). Here is the tail end of my KJFK to KDFW flight. I did it to see if I could fly out of the storm on the East Coast that has so many flight cancelled...Did not get screens of the departure ( but it was a blast...an "arctic" blast. hehe) Lined up on final 35 Center. Here I displayed the chart for the ILS, you can see the chart view as well as the map view show the aircraft's position, very handy. :) Almost there....crabbing into the crosswind....For those who know the area...that is 183 I'm just about to pass over. Totally unrealistic as it's not crammed with bumper to bumper traffic! Short final now...an AA 737 in new colors taking 35L for departure...with a classic AA 737 holding. Over the numbers...feeling for the runway. With 13,401 feet to work with, you can afford to float a little, hehe. that AA turned out to be an Airbus! I know in real life (at this moment) 35C is closed for maintenance, but I like this runway, and its flightsim. Notice how the GTN is all ready to guide me thru a missed approach with a click of a button, so nice! Clear of 35C and holding to cross 35L...that Classic AA 737 just rotating in front of me. Ground called and said "Citation 5811, cross 35L, right on Lima, left on Yankee, taxi to the Corp Aviation ramp. So I popped over to the Safe Taxi® screen to monitor my position...invaluable tool on a huge mass of concrete like KDFW and a dizzying array of taxiways. As I was taxiing I had a little time to kill....so I popped into the Fuel Planing page to see how my fuel burn was. Turning on to Yankee....almost there.... Nobody puts Baby in the corner! Oh wait...I guess the rampers at DFW do, LOL. The GTN even shows you in blue text boxes what the buildings are...in this case the DFW Corporate Aviation center. Sorry for the heavy jpg compression and bad rez on the screenshots....with a 55" monitor at 4K...full screens with no compression would be megabytes huge...I try to keep my screens under 250k. Will post my KTEX>KJAC trip shortly.
  14. It's a great day to fly - I'm off for a short hop over the Tetons to Driggs, Idaho. Scenery featured is GPB500's KJAC (payware part of a large package of excellent airports). Sadly I don't have HD Mesh v4 installed for this region. (So it would look even better if you did - freeware) Aerobask's Viper Jet with my modded GNS530W v2 from Reality XP. 18. Hi all, I am aware about the lack of the cross-fill feature on the GTN650/750, as well as of the option of using a previously stored FPLAN (.gfp), created with some external software, to get the same flight plan on a dual set-up. My question is about flight plans created directly from one the two GTN650s, running (for example) in my wonderful A2A A35 (FSX): where are they stored (on the local drive)? And in which format? Details: I create a new route in the master unit, and from this moment on this new route shows up in the master unit catalog... but not in the other one! I searched for recently saved/updated files on my drive, but didn't find anything... the intention was obviously to copy/paste the file in some appropriate folder Any hints? Can this be a way to exchange routes between the two units without making use of any external software? This is not laziness... 😉 in real life, I program the GTNs directly during the engine warm-up Thanks - and sorry if the answer is already lying somewhere in this forum (I did spend quite a lot of time searching, but couldn't find anything concerning this question specifically) Blue skies! Andrea
  19. An online flight with PilotEdge.net (best service around!) in the A2A Comanche KAVX-KSAN. Addons used (a lot these days lol) Active Sky, ASCA, Envtex/shade, Orbx Socal + KAVX, Latin VFR KSAN. Also navigating with the always incredible Reality XP GNS530W! Routing is another real world TEC route displayed below. 20. Hi there! In real life, I fly IFR on two different models of the SOCATA TB20: - One is a GT, equipped with an Aspen EFD100 + Dual GTN650 - The second one has a standard Bendix King ADI+HSI + Dual GNS430 Forced on ground by Covid-19 😓, I have no other solutions but using FSX to maintain IFR skills alive. But I am struggling to find the right aircraft + gauges mix in order to replicate at least one of the two sets above, in a virtual cockpit (I do not like 2D gauges) I have tried for now: - JustFlight TB20, Carenado A36, A2A A35 - RXP GNS430W, RXP GTN650, Flight1 Aspen 1000 Great stuff, indeed... but unfortunately, there is no way to get what I am looking for from these add-ons. It's even quite funny, because I only can get mixed results (i.e. EFD1000 + GNS430, or Bendix + GTN650) Does any of you fellow simmers have any idea on how to sort it out? Which add-on(s)? The aircraft itself is not the most important part - it can be a TB20 or any SE or ME with equivalent performances. And I am not afraid to do some coding (panel.cfg, xml...), if needed. PS on the Bendix TB20 there's a nice ADF mounted on an RMI - the ideal aircraft would have something similar; all the single piston IFR aircraft that I have seen so far (by Carenado, A2A, JustFlight...) show a basic ADF not combined with a slaved gyro compass... Thanks, and blue (real and virtual) skies! Andrea

  23. I wasn't going to post anything as this was an online flight on Pilot Edge. But once the sun started dropping I was taken back to my real world flying. The sunset looked real, the atmosphere, felt real. So I snapped away. Hope you guys enjoy! Aerobask Eclipse 550 with RXP GTN 750, Ortho ZL16, KMYF to F70 French Valley airport by GPB500.
