  1. I updated my P3D to 4.5, to the latest revision. After I loaded the program, with no issues, I noticed that my wireless keyboard, or normal keyboard, seems to have changed its own keystrokes or lost a lot of its functionality altogether. Also the throttle settings from my FDS TQ, using FSUIPC5, that has calibrated OK, have a minimum idle setting of 52%, although the throttle is wanting, from the engine screen, to take it back to the normal idle. Whilst the program is running, if I go into windows, and look at any files, if you click on a file in a folder, it highlights everything above it, and will if you click on it, it opens or activate every file above the one you selected. When I come out of the program, the keyboard starts acting normally again. Everything worked well under P3Dv4.4. Only hardware changes are the upgrade of my graphics card to a Geoforce RTX 2070ti. I have uploaded the latest drivers for this. I've never had a problem like this before, and cant seem to see any other posts that reflect whats happening, so looking for some suggestions on where to go with this. Many thanks for all your help Don
  2. Good afternoon / evening folks, This morning I experienced something strange on my 747. First let me note that a few minutes prior to the incident I had run the Operations Center and updated the tool, and also the plane itself through said program. Both updates appeared as a prompt / alert on OC. Don't know if that could have caused an issue as I have never had this before. After updating, I was trying to run a very short flight (load the short stop panel state while parked at a gate, run a preflight, power the plane and perform a traffic pattern). However, after starting the engines as per checklists, they were completely unresponsive. I could see the white "dash" (?) (or I could call it the target thrust indicator?) on the EICAS engine N1 indicator move up and down and also the thrust levers did move physically, but thrust would remain at idle. Tried both with the hardware (Saitek Pro Flight Yoke + 1 Throttle Quadrant) and also with the keyboard (F2/F3) but no thrust change or spool up sound at all. Did I do something wrong or maybe did the update corrupt something? I have to admit though that I did not restart the simulator and try again because I was about to leave for work, will try once I get back home. I also tried searching on forums to avoid a double post but didn't find this same scenario, so even if it ends up being a silly mistake by myself or a possible bug, it could help anyone who might experience this in the future. Thanks in advance! Regards,
  3. Hi guys, I have recently bought a Satiek Pro Yoke System, with the Throttle Quadrant for use with my FSX setup. I downloaded a profile from Satiek's web site for FSX and was wondering if anyone has managed to reprogram the X & Y levers? The Z is fine for the throtle and reverse thrust, but the X & Y don't seem to do anything in FSX. I was wanting to program one (X) for elevator trim up and down and the other (Y) for rudder left and right. Has anyone done this or could anyone help me achieve this as I am quite confused about the profile editor from Satiek. Thanks in advance.
  4. Whilst I patiently wait for news on Honeycomb Aeronautical’s throttle quadrant I’m looking at alternatives and came across Throttletek. A fellow enthusiast pointed me to their Learjet unit which on closer inspection looks to be a viable alternative albeit at greater cost. http://throttletek.com/lear-45-g-throttle/ They produce units for several aircraft but I’m looking for a single solution for the (currently) three aircraft I fly. PC-12, Learjet 25 and Concorde. As this unit has only two throttles it should be possible to use FSUIPC to assign the two left engines to throttle 1 and the right pair to throttle 2. For the other aircraft each engine can be assigned a single axis. The website makes no mention of whether pots or Hall-effect sensors are used so I’m going to assume it’s pots as I’m sure they would mention hall-effect if they used them. I find it quite exasperating that this technology is not embraced by manufacturers when they know pots, whatever their quality, will eventually cause problems. Are Hall-effect sensors really that expensive or difficult to include in the design? 🙄 I’ve written to them asking a few questions so their answers will help. PC Pilot reviewed one of their units and gave it a “Classic” award, the highest available which suggests they’re good quality. But I don’t see them being discussed much here. If they’re heavy enough to sit on a desk and not move when used them they look a really good option. If you have one I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts and how you integrate it into your home system. Alternatively if you’re considering one feel free to chip in. 🙂
  5. Being a huge fan of everything I can I do in AAO, I have finally gotten my Honeycomb Bravo working much better with the Kodiak / Floatiak after the latest update from SWS version 1.3.5. The idea was to have Forward Thrust from the idle detent 0% to 100%, and BETA and REVERSE in the correct reverse direction 0% to -25%. Because there is no axis on the Bravo in reverse I had to simulate it with buttons as best I could. This is what I did: 1. Create Axis Assignment "THROTTLE1_SET" and assign to the first throttle axis on the Bravo. (You can use whatever axis you like but note the button numbers below will be different.) 2. In the RPN Script Editor, create a script (I called It) "THROTTLE1_BETA" with the contents: 14·(>K:THROTTLE1_DECR) This will move the lever into BETA range approx 11% of reverse thrust. (This is what the animation displays if you hover over it in the sim.) 3. In the RPN Script Editor, create another script (I called It) "THROTTLE1_REVERSE" with the contents: 32·(>K:THROTTLE1_DECR) This will move the lever into REVERSE range approx 25%. (Also what is displayed hovering over throttle in sim.) 4. Create Button Assignment THROTTLE1_BETA to the reverse detent on the Bravo. It should read as Button 23. 5. Create Button Assignment THROTTLE1_REVERSE to the Go Around Button on the Bravo. It should read as Button 28. The GA Button on the Kodiak does not appear to have assignment, so I used it. You can use whatever button you like. If it is or does get used later, I can still use this method just give it a long button press of say 1 second. That should do it, works perfect for me. The BETA is really handy in the Float Version of the Kodiak, not sure it would be good to use full reverse there. Both work well in the Kodiak wheeled version too. Hope someone finds this useful. -HardCat
  6. Hello simmers,I have a question about controlling the throttle in FSX. Thank you in advance.I own a hardware throttle (The one on Saitek Cybrog X). When disconnecting the autopilot during flight, the actual throttle position in FSX is different from my hardware throttle. As a result, there'll be a sudden thrust change during approach, when I have to disengage the A/T. Making maintain a stable approach speed very difficult.Another instance is when the A/T mode changes into ARM after pressing TO/GA (Wilco 737 Evolution), the thrust reduces to that indicated by my hardware throttle as the hardware throttle doesn't actually move with that one in VC during TO/GA process. This is a bit complicated. Thank you for reading.
  7. So last night I was mucking around with my P3Dv5 configuration, which included adding some new scenery, one of them a freeware Wichita airport package from the AVSIM library. Once I had everything happily set up via SimStarter, I fired up P3d, only to find that the throttle axis was playing up. I'd move the throttle lever on my CH Yoke full forward, and the throttle in the sim would go to full and then immediately spring back to idle. Spent about half an hour to no avail, so went to bed. This afternoon spent 3.5 hours doing nothing else but trying to get it working. I tried everything under the sun, including installing FSUIPC (full version) and trying to set up the throttle through that, of course turning off the controllers in P3D. The throttle worked fine within FSUIPC but didn't move at all in the sim. After still more research and mucking around I decided the next step, as per LM's debugging guide, was the nuclear option - delete all the generated files. And when I restarted P3D afterwards, and said no to every add-in load request, lo and behold the throttle worked normally and I had a nice little flight around Fort Randolph. Decided to have a look at Wichita and once again it all looked fine. Decided to try loading the Wichita freeware in sim and as soon as I did that... the throttle again kept springing back to idle and I nearly crashed the plane in the ensuing engine stoppage. Disabled said freeware and the throttle worked fine again! Can anyone tell me how on earth a basic scenery file can trash a control axis in the sim???
  8. Hi guys I'm looking to replace my Saitek throttle quadrant after getting frustrated about the spikes and the lack of feeling. I'm looking for a good set of throttles that are compatible with PMDG products. I've purchased Elite Throttle Quadrant but it is not compatible with your airplanes, and many other addons on FSX, they only work for default FSX and some payware.... So before making a purchase, on this opportunity I would like to ask you about my options. Which throttle do you have that works with PMDG (No Saitek, No CH and No Goflight)? I was thinking about PFC, do they are compatible? Do they have a true feeling?
  9. I've searched for an answer/suggestion around the forums without success and am hoping for help here. The general "forum" opinion is that in flight simulation, rotay wing modelling has always fallen far short of fixed wing. I fly a Cabri G2 in real life. I find the MP Design Studio version for P3D works very well indeed and compares to the real thing nicely, except for autorotations. We all know what they're about. The engine fails, lift can't counter gravity, nose drops, main rotor slows down when collective pitch is increased, etc. Real recovery needs quick pull-back on the cyclic followed by immediate full-down collective then careful main rotor RPM control with collective and a final flare to reduce the forward speed and collective up to slow verical speed to zero. This process can be started OK in the sim by pulling back on the cyclic and flooring the collective. But the engine has not failed, as it would have done in reality. So I would need to cut engine power completely to simulate the cause of an autorotation. How? And to reduce main rotor RPM during the rapid descent I would need to increase collective pitch, but if I did this with the engine still running and the governor engaged, I would get an increase in lift! So the autorotation process has failed in the sim. And so it goes on. The consencus amongst flight simmers is that sims don't model autorotation. I think that's true because the flight dynamics involved aren't what's needed in normal flying. I also think that there's scope for getting P3D and my Cabri G2 to behave as expected during an autorotation by changing settings that relate to governor, collective pitch, independent throttle control and possibly others. I've never believed in reinventing the wheel so at this stage I'm wondering if anyone out there has already studied this, especially with P3D and the Cabri G2. I'd be delighted with any ideas that can be offered. I intend to persuade my setup to produce realistic conditions that lead to autorotation and respond realistically to the right sequence of corrective actions. I'm sure I could do this much quicker with your help than on my own by trial and error. All the best, Brian
