A lesson learned from a study level aircraft!

Hi All! Well - I've been lurking around here for an awful long time! Far longer than the 'joined date' over to the left suggests. Lets just say I've got happy memories of the Rambow/Chaffin/Visser R4D and still pine for the wonderful Falcon 50 CAEA by Yannick Lavigne, Fred Banting and Rob Young... (nostalgic yet?) Anyway, times move on and I've enjoyed all sorts of wonderful add-ons: most memorably FSD's old Commander 115, the ground-breaking RealAir SF-260 and more recently, the fantastic Majestic Software Q400. Most of these, I probably wouldn't have come across without the help of Avsim, so I figured it's about time I said a (very, very) belated 'thanks' to Tom and everyone else at Avsim for this great site. Perhaps the greatest bit of freeware there is! However, it's the wonderful Piper Cherokee by A2A Simulations which finally inspired me to crawl out from under my rock! I've truly connected with this little aircraft. I'm not sure whether it's because the product is so immersive or if it's due to the characteristics of the real 1960s PA-28 the add-on is based upon. Either way, it feels like my proper little aeroplane! :smile: I reckon the Cherokee really just looks the part too. I guess this says an awful lot for the genius of Karl Bergey, Fred Weick and John Thorp who designed the original PA-28 (though the modellers at A2A have done a wonderful job as well!) In fact, I was so taken with its looks that I decided to try my hand at some repainting following the example of talented individuals here like Ron Attwood and Tim Scharnhop. I've tried my hand at repainting a few other liveries for the Cherokee too. Hi all - After lurking on these forums for longer than I'm prepared to admit, :wink: I finally got round to making my first post (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/450133-my-love-affair-with-a-cherokee/) in which I nattered on nostalgically for a bit and declared my love for the A2A Cherokee. Though I'd follow up with some screenshots of repaints for my baby which I'm gradually uploading to the Avsim library (though they've been on A2A's forums for a bit)... G-AVSE, the first repaint I attempted and based on a real UK-based PA28-180C N5809W - the real example is very smart and registered in California. This one's cheating a bit, as it's based on a 235B model based in Oz. A bit more cheating going on here, as this Austrian repaint is based on an Archer II. N38GH is a proper real-world PA28-180C however, based in Florida. G-AVSF, another real world 1960s Cherokee with a paint job which reminds me of the splendid 'raspberry ripple' livery worn by the RAF's RAE/ETPS. Another one in striking colours - from Pennsylvania this time. G-SIXT, a rather interesting commemorative paint scheme found on a real-world Warrior II. It's painted in the colours of BOAC on one side... ...And BEA on the other! Somewhat retro colours on this one too. And finally, G-AVOZ, quite a grown-up looking real-world PA28-180C, also based in the UK. I've been experimenting a little bit with panel repaints too, but this shade of brown won't be to everyone's taste I'm sure! Should all make it to the Avsim library eventually... All the best!
