  1. Hi, I got the beta version of the inibuilds a320 V2 but I noticed that when I want to pushback with gsx it just doesn't work. It keeps saying release parking brakes, but when I release them, nothing. Also the passengers don't show during boarding. Ps: I downloaded a gsx profile from flightsim.to but I don't know if this may be the cause
  2. I'm back with yet another long-winded post! As I couldn't find a thread discussing various aspects of operating the Fenix (and didn't feel like necroing an old thread), I decided to start a new one. I'd like to see a discussion among Fenix enthusiasts with advice, interesting tidbits, experience of handling the aircraft etc. Input from real world Airbus pilots will of course as always be a huge bonus, but there are also some very skilled and knowledgeable simmers out there! I'll start off with a rather lengthy description of my futile attempts at short field landings, based on excellent advice in the Fenix updated V2 thread. I'd suggest checking it out, as it contains great advice on e.g. how to successfully perform the fabled CATI autoland (hitherto considered impossible). Hopefully, reading about as well as seeing my many mistakes will get the discussion going! Goal: Taking the A320 safely down to the very short runway (970m) at ENSD Sandane. The RNP approach is fairly tricky, with a slope of 5.40° from 6000ft to threshold at 180ft. It also requires a very late turn towards the Rwy in order to not smash the aircraft into the nearby hills! The MDA by the way is 2020ft. Plan: no payload, ZFW 44T), 1000kg extra fuel, estimated LAW only 45T max manual braking max reverse thrust A/THR off Despite risking eternal humiliation here on Avsim, I've decided to share two videos documenting my attempts. At the very least it shows how NOT to do things. This could possibly be educational - and could perhaps create some interesting discussion. First attempt: TL;DR: Ended with a hazardous go-around. Feeling very clever, I had configured the weather with 15kts of headwind, just to make things a little easier for myself. However, on departure from ENAL Ålesund I was a bit baffled by the high pitched moaning and large waves topped with white foam, as can be seen in the screenshot below: On final approach it eventually dawned upon me that I might have configured the winds erroneously. In fact I had set winds according to the metric system instead of US... 15m/s = 29.2kts i.e. near gale force winds. Hence, as I switched over to the US system, the wind strength was instantly halved, something the aircraft didn't respond very well to with airspeed plummeting. At the very least I made the sensible decision to go TOGA thrust and a go-around. As the aircraft was just above ZFW and wanted to climb like a rocket, it was very tricky to manage pitch and flap retraction in order to avoid an overspeed situation. In clean configuration I vaguely recall vertical speed being in the magnitude of 7000fpm... I decided to restart from ENAL for a 2nd attempt. Luckily the air time is only 25mins with a cruise ALT of FL080 in order to clear the mountains. 2nd attempt: ...did not go too well! (biggest understatement of the year) So… what went wrong? Or perhaps we should ask what didn’t go wrong? forgot to reduce thrust levers from CLB detent before disengaging A/THR, resulting in the engines spooling up massively from idle came in way too high and fast (it IS a steep approach) forgot to arm spoilers (after extending them to manage speed) + didn't notice the ECAM warning didn't respond quick enough to rapidly reducing airspeed just before crossing the threshold didn't flare at all, resulting in touch down at nearly 900fpm! which inevitably lead to a gigantic bounce... and to add fuel to the fire, I went MAX REVERSE THRUST in the high bounce, in a desperate attempt to bring the bird down which resulted in a nose-down landing, sigh TL;DR: I completely failed to assess the situation properly - should obviously have done a go-around!! Even worse - I did all this after having watched a very decent instructional video which focuses on the landing flare - shared by @Claudius_ I highly recommend watching it. Come to think of it, it’s almost like I did my very best to do exactly the opposite of every advice given in that video… Now I´d better call maintenance to get someone to have a look at that landing gear. As I was running away from the aircraft I was sure I saw one of the nose wheels inside engine #1 (not sure where the other wheel went) as well as the nose of the aircraft resting on what was left of the nose gear. This was not all in vain though, as I learned some lessons as well as got some valuable practice handling the aircraft with A/THR off (which I've never done before). I found it much easier and intuitive than I originally thought, just like @Farlis mentioned. And - hand-flying the Fenix is a breeze, thanks to the fly-by-wire system. Just make a small input on the sidestick and leave it there. Fantastic! And SO much fun! Conclusion: I did in fact manage to "land" on my 2nd attempt - BUT in doing so I wrecked the nose gear AND had my ATPL-license suspended pending further assessments. 3rd and 4th attempts: 3rd attempt did not as planned either. The aircraft did not want to settle on the runway, and I decided (way too late!!) to do a go-around. How well that went can embarrassingly be seen in the video... 4th attempt: Having learned a bit from three failed attempts, I daresay that I managed to do a reasonably successful (and possibly safe) landing, with even some runway length to spare in front of me 😄 EDIT: It just occurred to me that it probably would have been smarter to turn off FDs when FINAL APP guidance was no longer available. Constructive criticism of my comments/ramblings as well as the videos is as always much appreciated. I've tried to analyse the mistakes I made, but I'm almost certain I did even more mistakes that I'm not aware of. And don't worry - I can handle criticism - most of the time 😉 Fun fact: when I'm not busy at the Executor, I spend most of my time 28nm southwest of ENSD 🙂 Fenix V2 handling impression: Despite (obviously!!) not being type rated on the A320, my impression is that the aircraft handled beautifully and predictably in all stages of flight despite my newbie mistakes and rough handling. During a holding pattern on the approach though, I had several AP disconnects. I’ll put this down to pilot error. As other people could very well be way above my skill level, I'd really like to hear what you think. Does the Fenix handle in a realistic way? What are some of the remaining issues at this stage? Oh, and btw is there a way to turn off the TAWS aural warnings? Not sure if it's wise to do so though. And before anyone points out that it's in the FCOM - I know (I'm only up to page 124 of 7560 though) 😉 In fact I'll be so kind to share it with you (courtesy of a helpful soul in another thread).
  3. So I just switched to beta version for sim update 15 this morning and the first time I loaded the sim a noticed that the reverse thrust didn't work on any plane. And also not showing in my game controller app. I calibrated my TCA quadrant several times(and reinstalled the drivers)and it eventually worked. But while it works fine with every aircraft, in the a320 V2 it just doesn't work. It calibrated the throttle in the EFB but the reverse just doesn't activate. Anyone facing the same problem or know a fix to this?
  4. Pilots, Block 2 aka B2 is out 1.5GB download through the Fenix dashboard (in my case as I uninstalled B1 before)
  5. Hi, now with sim update 14, anyone know when the inibuilds a320 Neo will come out?
  6. Hi, I recently found out that the FBW a320 has noswheel steering and so far it’s really good and helpful. Now that I started flying the fenix a320 more, I was wondering if it has nosewheel steering as well? And if it does, do I have to assign anything in the controls options?
  7. Hi, I recently flew the flybywire a320 and it was really good except for one thing. When I started my descend, I selected my desired altitude and started a managed mode descend. Usually other aircraft descended at about 1800-2300 feet per minute but this aircraft straight up started to go 4500-5000 ft per minute. Obviously I reach my altitude too early and I had to hold my flight level for a few minutes, before starting the descent again. I was wondering, am I doing anything wrong, is there any solution to this? ps: in the fenix a320 I did the same thing and it worked perfectly.
  8. Hi guys Im starting out builing my A320 home cockpit (first time ever home cockpit builder here). The cockpit is intended to be used in VR so I am leaving out all the screens and LED indicators. I also build only the captains side. The switches qnd knobs will be connected to Arduinos an then used via mobiflight in the Fenix A320 in MSFS. Now I am looking for a suitable used car seat with adjustable armrests and adjustable in height and position. The replica A320 seats are just too expensive for what I want. Do you have any tips for me, which car models I should look in to for this seat? What did you use in your cockpits? (I am from Europe, Switzerland so it helps if the car model is quite popular here :-) ) And are the armrests really that important as i imagine, especially on the side of the sidestick? Cheers Scheffchoch
  9. So I just finished making a Royal Air Philippines A320 livery for FSX, but there's one problem. While I'm done at almost everything, all I need to do is to paint the winglets in the wing texture. But the psd file has just 2 layers, the whole wing and the wireframe. You see, the details of the wings and the background of it supposed to be seperated, just like the master fuselage paint kit, but it isn't. Instead, the detail of the winglets and the background is just in a single layer. So I need anyone to find a A320 Paint Kit with the details of the winglets and the white paint in the winglets seperated. I'm sorry if my english and grammar is bad. Thanks!!
  10. All, This is probably a "me" problem rather than a "Fenix A320" problem. (I've had same issue with V1 and recent upgrade to V2). I run through the checklists, import flight plan from SimBrief, load aircraft via EFB, set performance as per EFB etc.. On take off, using TOGA, I am unable to keep the nose down despite full forward stick resulting in tailstrike and scenario closure. Initially, I thought it was because I was overloading the aircraft beyond MTOW but this is even happening on short flights. All controls are calibrate and working fine. Any clues what I doing wrong ? Cheers, R
  11. Hi, I have been using the Aerosoft a320 in FSX for a while, and I've recently got into X-Plane 11. Does anyone know of an airbus a320 add-on that is just as good, if not better than the aerosoft plane? Thanks, David PS- I've taken a look at the JARdesign a320, and it doesnt even look half as good as the aerosoft a320.
  12. Hi, I would like to assign the button TOGA, CLIMB and FLEX in my VRInsight MCP II when I move the throttle to TOGA or CLIMB or FLEX position for the FSLabs A320. Is that possible? My scenario: Prepar3d 3.4.22 FSLabs A320 VRInsight Combo MCP II Thanks a lot Kiko
  13. This is actually kind of funny. I have always flown Boeings (blame PMDG ), so it's a whole new world and a new fantastic point of view for me now... I'm still struggling with throttle detents and stuff like that, but I'm learning (and sending a lot of A320s for repairs in the meantime). So here's some screenshots of several flights I did in the last few days... and kudos for Flight Sim Labs -- it was worth the wait! Hope you like it. Thanks for viewing! PS: Yeah, don't mind the A/THR off in the first shot...
  14. Hello all, I haven't posted in a long time so please excuse me if my post is in the wrong area or rather lengthy. So lets get started! I have the Blackbox Airbus Prologue at the moment, but usually only fly the A320 model. For any other Blackbox A320 users out there, is there anyway to get the Airbus to descend at a faster speed, say, 300 KTS? I have talked to various Airbus pilots about the A320 aircraft in general (descent speeds, types of descents, and descent rates) and have learned a lot about the bus, and know that it can and usually will descend anywhere from 280 up to 300+ Knots depending on weather, weight, cost index, etc. The blackbox A320's MCDU however has a set managed descent speed of 250 Knots. You can change the cost index, which will affect the cruise and climb speeds, but the descent speed is always set to 250 for me  . Is there anyway to get the aircraft to descent faster? Sometimes I find myself preparing to fly a STAR with a constraint of 280 Knots, and the descent speed still set at 250. I have inputted selected mode speeds in the MCDU before descent of 280+ but it doesnt seem to change the T/D point, and still descends very poorly causing an early level off. Questions: -Can I get the A320 to descend at a faster speed and fly the vertical profile to meet all constraints? If so, how? Thanks for taking the time to read this! Blue skies & Tailwinds! :t4013: -Chris
  15. Just reading about the BBS A330, went to check, and surprise: The PSS A32x, B757 and B777 for FS9 are now at €9.99. And with the Euro going down... http://www.blackboxsimulation.com/index.php/products/fs-2004/ Enjoy!
  16. Hi everyone... EGPF Park Cockpit Takeoff Climb Nice wind... FL330 Metar Final Shadow Landing End. Thanks!
  17. Hey Guys, I love the Boeing aircrafts by pmdg and captain sim to some extend. I think its time to move to the airbus to learn the systems !!!! ( pun Intended ). my queries are: Should i buy the airbus x or wait for the airbus extended ? or wait for the FSlabs version ? I look for in depth system simulations, so which is more simulated ? aerosoft or FSlabs . I ask this because i plan to do a lot of failures and ab normal checklist which go with it. Is Fslabs planing to do all the airbus aircrafts because their website shows A3XX which generally means all the airbus. With the development time i see that will be another 5 yrs ... I love to see a good ATC as well. i went ahead and bought the ProATC, which to my surprise isn't a finished product. Don't get me wrong it does work well, but most of the time its just frustrating. I paid close to 70 $ for it, thats PMDG and FSLABS money category. Its got Navdata updates this month after close to 5 months of releasing it. I hope it improves a lot. but i am willing to jump ship to better ATC all round. too many crashes on this one, you do flight for 2 hrs and it crashes it ain't good. Basically is there any new ATC ? Please advise Avid Pilot Mathew
  18. So I borrowed a throttle and a Sidestick form someone and it worked all just fine except with the fenix a 320. in other planes the throttle moves correctly, but when I get in to the fenix, the throttle goes either TOGA either max reverse. I tried calibrating my controls but nothing works. Do you have any solutions?
  19. Hey guys, I am in the process of starting a flight simulation center in my country where everyone can come and experience the thrill of flying first hand in realistic cockpits at reasonable rates. As of now, my plans are to include one fixed base A320 full cockpit 1:1 scale simulator, two cessna/piper (gen. aviation) simulators and two full motion simulators for jet fighters. I am planning to start up in the next 3 months and right now I am in the process of trying to find a name for the center and stuck with almost no options.. just a couple which i really need to work on. Who would have thought naming a Flight sim centre would be such hard work... As such I am asking you guys to help me with this and help me in finding an awesome , cool name for my flight sim center.. Pitch in as many ideas and suggestions you have as it will help me in finding the perfect name for my project. Thanking you all in advance... Saifudeen Shamsudeen

  21. hello, ive been flying the aerosoft airbus for a while and the APU used to work but some reason now the APU gen % stays on 0% does anyone know why? http://prntscr.com/dxrxf9
  22. Hey guys, I have the Wilco Airbus Evo.1 Pack, and I try to do a repaint for our VA, but there is something really really wrong. I've downloaded the Paintkit directly from Wilco, and making the editing in Photshop CS6. To make sure here is the saving process: In PS Save as: BMP (24 bit), then I use DXTBmp to make it FS9y (saving Extended bitmap) So the problem is when I load the aircraft is FS this is how it looks: And all my graphics on the maximum. Also if I load the aircraft in FSrepaint it shows normally. Can anybody give me some clue whats wrong? Thanks so much
