  2. Name: LPMA CIRCLING VOR DME 05 - Madeira Category: FS Aircraft Date Added: 24 March 2016 - 10:30 PM Submitter: Alpha Floor Short Description: None Provided 2nd video of my "Interesting Approaches" series. Today we fly into rwy 05 of Maderia, also known as, the "Kai Tak" of Europe. A really tricky approach (particularly when there's a crosswind) and I won't pretend like I got it right the first time Chart bundle for LPMA: http://www.ukvirtual.co.uk/dl/charts/lpma.pdf Also check here: http://www.rocketroute.com/airports/europe-eu/portugal-pt/plates-madeira-lpma.html Have a look at View Video

  4. Name: The Maderia Approach with PMDG 737 NGX Category: FS Instructional Videos Date Added: 27 May 2014 - 03:11 PM Submitter: Martinair50 Short Description: Doing one of the most dangerous approaches in the world on FSX. One of the most dangerous approaches in the world. This is exactly how the Visual 5 VOR to LPMA procedure should be executed. Please watch in HD! The video starts off with me approaching the Missed Approach Point (MAPt), you can see this point on the navigation display as MA05. From this point on I should have the runway in sight and the VOR part of the approach pretty much ends and I am fully visual. At around 6 DME from FUN at around 900 feet I should switch off the autopilot and start my base turn towards the runway, to cross the waypoint GELO at 850 feet. From then on I follow the approach lightning that brings me right in front of runway 05 of Funchal Airport. Thank you for watching please, subscribe rate and comment! 5. Hello! I want to practice ILS approaches with the NGX (LANDINGS MAINLY) So can I have a download link to an FSX load game saved filed where im aligned with the runway ( You know, Disengage AP and all that I will have to do about 500ft before touchdown) but you know what I mean! Thanks! I think tutorial 2 already has the downloaded saves...but where do i place them??
  6. Real pilots usually disengage autopilot and autothrottle during final, touching down manually. A real authothrottle actually moves the thrustlevers so they are in the right position at that moment, and if the plane was on a stable descent in T/D configuration, it will gracefully continue the appoach until touchdown without much interaction except for the flare-out (crosswinds permitting :-)) But PC throttles are not moved by the ATS, and FSX does not read out whichever position the throttles have when the ATS is turned off. Hence the effective (internal) thrust setting is kind of arbitrary at that moment and usually does not correspond to the mechanical lever position even if you try to set it to the suspected "right" position before disengaging the ATS. Especially when the plane feels the throttle is set too low, all kings of envelope protection algorithms kick in, and you really lose control of the plane while it fights your attempts to settle it down anyway. Real flight manuals don't help here of course. How do you handle this? Other than not switching it off?
  7. Hello, Guys! Look in this picture given in URL: http://postimage.org/image/m8ow0n52f/ Please tell me What are OM and MM? Also by watching image, please tell me is it good approach in given picture? This looks me a very basic question but I request to the Masters to please don't mind it. Regards, AP
  8. Just a small video of my flight into Arlanda today. The cockpit video is live, while the external views are from fs recorder (replay). Unfortunately I couldnt remove the chocks on replay, so please pardon that. Enjoy :)
  9. Could somebody instruct me on how to fly this LDA approach? I've never done and LDA approach, and while I've read up on them, I'm still not totally sure how to go about it. This is the LDA into RWY 26L at PHNL. By the way, I've based it off of a real flight I found on FlightAware, and the waypoints SECIL and the following one, HEFTL (whose name is not shown in this graphic) appear to have been omitted. (Also, the altitude restriction for HEFTL is 1500').Thanks,boeing247
  10. I have 2 questions:1. After today hotfix, during ILS autoland i have on PDF "SINGLE CH" even after engage second AP. someone else with the same problem? Solutions? and most important:2. I have windows 7 64bit, 4GB memory. Do I have to do paging? I did this before, when I had windows XP(min an max value - 3072) and I wonder: to leave it, or not to leave it,question is now? NGX works fine for me most of time - 22-26FPS, if I move the mouse - 16-19FPS, It's ok for me. But FSX freezes sometimes just for a second - like a slideshow, and it can be very annoying, especially if this happens on take off and final. I don't know the reason - probably CPU overload, but i want to try everything until next year when I plan to buy new system.I have Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.53 MHz, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GTAny suggestions?
  11. Been simming for sometime but, I mainly stick to ILS landings and when I do visual approaches it's usually to airports I'm familiar will. I run into problems on visual approaches and landings at airports I'm less familiar with. Obviously, ATC will guide me to a certain flight level but once the approval is given for landing I'm on my own. Don't really have problems lining up with the runway but, I always have issues with altitude. Question; is there a standard way to use the A/P (VNAV) on visual approaches? Just to help with altitude? I know about the FPM calculations but is that what your guys/gals do? Or, do you really just fly it by hand? If so, do you practice approaches and landings at particular airports you plan to fly to? If you're truly able to "wing it" what helpful advice can you give? Is it just practice, practice and more practice? What works for you?
  12. I have been struggling to find information in the FCOM, FCTM and in the forums that fully address the capabilities and limitation of the RNAV approach functions in the 777. I have no problem flying CAT III ILS Autoland approaches but I want to know if the autpilot will also fly an RNAV GPS approach and to what minimums, is it possible to fly an Autoland RNAV apporach, is this even possible or make sense? Also I would like to make sure I understand the requirements, in terms of cockpit setup, to complete say an RNAV GPS apporach to LPV mins. For example the RNAV (GPS) Y RWY1C to LPV mins into KIAD. Thanks for any help or references.
  13. When I am reaching the top of descent point during crs altitude, I choose my approach for the destination. Then I click execute once I choose an approach, but the approach plan doesnt connect to the flight plan? It is just a blank space in between both plans. Wierd eh? Don't I need a transition point in between so it can all connect? When i go to the legs page, in between my normal flight plan and the approach plan, there is a line that says "flight plan discontinued". What do i type in so it can connect together? Can someone please explain this to me. Can someone tell me where I can find the ILS frequency's for runways I want to land? Is there a page on the internet or something? LASTLY, (sorry for so many questions), how do I know what my glideslope should be during descent? And lastly lastly, is there an ILS descent and approach checklist for this plan anywhere? Thank you guys so much:) Andrej
  14. Hi I was wondering if its possible to descend in holding pattern with radar contact. This would be useful in areas near heathrow when you want to make an approach. Heathrow in real world has four major holding points that allow aircrafts to descend make their final approach in more timely fashion. I as wondering if this can be mimicked in real world.
  15. Yesterday I was doing approaches and practicing go-around maneuvers at ESSA, I repeatedly set up my approach on rwy 01L and repeatedly (maybe 3 times) also re-entered the ILS approach on the CDU "app" page. Then the CDU gave a "program pin error" and I could no more enter any approaches on the fmc/cdu. The simulator did not crash and I landed normally but I could no longer enter any stars and approaches on the computer. If I tried it gave me a blank screen with only "FMC ACT" on it. Has this happened to you guys? I purchased my PMDG 737NGX in 2012 so I should have automatically all the updates sp:s etc? Thanks!
  16. Hi there, So I got a quick question regarding pro-atc. I got this approach for Moscow : http://imgur.com/a/PG8MO Is this normal? And it's not the first time I got a very bad appoach, also at Amsterdam(EHAM) I've got a impossible approuch with 180 turn. Can anybody help me with this issue?
  17. I've been using Microsoft Flight Simulator since 1984 when the Apple IIC version came out. After installing FSX a couple years ago I've been taking of and landing hundreds of time in my PMDG-747 with absolutely no problem. A couple weeks ago I installed the FSX-SE version and suddenly I'm missing all of my ILS approaches; each and every one is lining up the aircraft at the left of every airport in any condition of weather, it also show the route line in a slanted position in the navigation panel (it never align with the plane); even if I set wind manually to 0 knots and perfect conditions. I know exactly how to set up the waypoints and ILS approaches on the FMC, since I've been doing it for years. The problem seems to be the Steam Edition in which I don't know how to fix this issue. I'm considering to return to my out-of-the-box FSX Gold Edition; but the reason why I've installed the SE edition is because it fix some video graphic problems with FSX out-of-the-box on Windows 10 64 bits. Any help will be very well appreciated. David Quinn
  18. Hi. Just for (virtual) practice in Realair Duke. Scenery is the Aerosoft Demo for Catalina-Avalon Keep in mind, I'm not a real pilot. I hope you have fun. 720p available
  19. Afternoon everyone. I would like to ask the frequent flyers of the PMDG 777 a brief question about approach flap selection. Yesterday, I was just about to start my approach into Frankfurt. I selected flaps 20 in the FMS and verified the selection when I went through the landing checklist on final. However, just a few hundred feet above the ground, the GPWS began to shout at me, "Too low! Flaps!" Of course, this warning prevented the altitude callouts and my landing was quite rough. I've never had this issue when using flaps 25 or 30. Is this a bug or have I missed something?

  21. I apologize in advance if someone has posted this before (I thought I remember reading it a long while ago but searched and couldn't find it), but I am having the following issue... As I am approaching localizer capture, as soon as I press the APPR/LAND button on the MCP (I usually do this when the localizer beam is one dot or less off) the aircraft suddenly and over-dramatically banks towards the localizer beam (causing it to go past it) then back in the other direction before finally intercepting it (i.e., if the beam is slightly off to the left and I am turning right to intercept, as soon as I press APPR/LAND instead of continuing the right turn and intercepting the aircraft suddenly banks to the left "towards the beam," overshoots it, then banks dramatically back to the right.) I assume this is an issue and the real aircraft does not do this? I have never noticed this with any other addons, including other PDMG addons. Thanks Michael Demers

  23. Hi all, I am using the PMDG 737-800 together with FS2Crew. Whenever I am on final approach and try do disconnect the autopilot, my FO always re-engages it (he says "CMD A"). I was always doing a standard CAT I ILS approach, was stable and properly configured. Obviously I'd like to try some other types of approaches in the future, such as RNAV and Visual approaches, but am unsure if I'll be able to hand fly the aircraft with FS2Crew.. Otherwise it has been working flawlessly and I am really pleased with the addon. Does anyone know if this is just a bug or if it's a specific issue. I've read through the manual and not sure if I missed something. Anyways, I'd like to disengage the autopilot (especially during my approach/landing) as I please. Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions, G
