Hello captains, I just did something wrong uninstalling the Ultimate Realism Pack/ReShade combo, and messed up my backup files in the simulator's folder. (You know, sometimes it happens) And I would like to know if any kind soul would upload this entire folder for me and anyone in need, due to the simulator NOT starting and showing this exact error: Thank you a lot in advance! (My P3D version is 3.4)

Just wondering, since I've lost 2 hard drives over the last several years and have had to reload all my FS stuff and it taking 2-3 months to do so - Does anyone use Carbonite or another on line backup program? how does it work for you - is it a simple reload back onto a new HD? I have all my FS stuff on a separate drive, but there are still plenty of things that end up on my main drive. so even when just the main drive went down, I still had to reload everything. Any ideas? Thanks much and happy Easter!!

Hey, guys, Hope you can provide me some assistance. Recently, my desktop computer (the one on which I play Flight Simulator X) malfunctioned, and I just got a new computer yesterday. Although I had backed up all my flight simulator addons in advance, using this payware program called Edimensional FSX Backup, I am unable to get the "Restore" feature of my FSX Backup tool to work properly with reinstalling my addons. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I would like to know if my flight simulator should be installed on my computer for this to work. The other thing that I may be thinking is that maybe the computer doesn't recognize the registry entries from my old device, and if that's the case, maybe I will just have to copy everything manually and redo my backup later. If you guys have any suggestions or helpful advice, let me know. Evan

I'm planning to update my Win 7 to Win 10. A little worried since this computer runs FSX very well, but it seems wise, maybe, to update before Microsoft cuts off the free update. I believe they'll support Win 10 after they cease support for Win 7. My question is what should I backup before updating? I have FSX + Acceleration and only a few additional aircraft and scenery add-ons. Any advice is appreciated.

Dear AVSIM Community I'm working currently with Prepar3D V. 2.5 and the PMDG Boeing 737-800NGX Add On. The goal is, to reproduce a quite original Boeing 737-800 Cockpit while most of the buttons and switches are real and some are displayed on a Screen in the Cockpit. Since not all of the gauges are movable to a second screen, I did my own XML Gauges which can be displayed on the Cockpit Screen. But here's the problem. While working on the Backup Harddrive, which is an Image of the original HDD, I experienced a problem with the activation of Prepar3D. One day when I turned the Computer on, the activation screen came up. I had this problem before, so i made a backup of all the relevant files and cloned the original image of the Prepar3D Installation on the Harddisk. This worked the first time quite well but now it looks like it was never activated. Do you know this problem? What would you suggest? Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it. Best regards Pascal

Hello All, I am about to wipe my PC and start again from fresh, spring cleaning if you like (just a little late). I have backed everything up but I wanted to double check, which PMDG file holds the key assingments and short cuts? and where can I find this file/s? I hope that by backing up this file (that stores the key assignments and short cuts) I won't have to spend hours re assigning everything once I have reinstalled both FSX and PMDG's B777. Many Thanks Kimberly Richmond-Jones

Hi guys, I have an idea on how to backup the game via this method described in here BUT I have no idea will it work as I have game pass sub. https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/backup-restore-windows-10-apps There is 100gb worth of data. Apparently steam users download the preload app something then you load that it up - then it downloads the data. The data goes to the windows app default location. So for steam your backup will be the download app which downloads the game lol. I know there are ways to move that location but restore after windows 10 reinstall. I hate to sit through 100gb download again. I let the computer do it's thing when I got to sleep so the download is done. Thoughts suggestions. Maybe some active beta testers can provide feedback (you know who you are on these forums and love reading my posts). Thanks

xp 10.25 backup before beta testing
divermar posted a topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Hi, I would like to test the beta release and have read several posts that say I should backup my existing 10.25 install. My question is it simply just copying the entire directory "X-Pane" to a different location and then install the beta? What is the best method to back up the current install prior to testing the beta? Thanks in advance- 2 replies
