Dear forum members I have an odd problem in FSX and to a lesser extend in Prepar3d as well. This is the situation: In FSX an am in the default C172, engines on and all ready to go. Now the moment I engage the autopilot while still on the ground (odd I know), the trimwheel starts spinning in a runaway fashion either up or down with no stop. Mind you there is no target altitude set on the autopilot, neither an vertical speeds has been set. But is still keeps spinning. I do not use external hardware or run plugins or add-ons. I have this with pretty much every plane in the game and to a lesser extend also in Prepar3d. On other computers as well. Also I can not really find anything from other uses reporting this. So is this realistic? Does this also happen in real life? Thank! Nico

Hello guys, im a new member here and a new aviation enthusiast I am planning to start my PPL next year and in the meanwhile I decided to build a Cessna 172 simulator with my father in order to practice as much as I can. the purpose of this design is to be as much closer to reality but also be efficient in terms of space and everyday normal computer use here is the simulator and the build process: https://picasaweb.google.com/100283970678072201730/BuildingTheFlightSimulator?authuser=0&feat=directlink any suggestions for improvement are welcome

Hi, I am new to XPlane 10 but have the full package installed after having used the demo for a few weeks. When flying the 172 it does not seem to 'obey' the autopilot. I have it turned on and heading and altitude selected to be held but it ignores the heading bug and the flight levels I set and goes round in circles. I have come from FSX where the autopilot worked correctly and have set it using the same procedures. Is there something I should know, I have read the manual and think I am doing everything correctly but it still doesn't hold course or height properly. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Went sightseeing around Mount McKinley today. I know it's a gorgeous place in real life but I didn't expect it to look so nice in a simulator. That second pic really got me exited when I arrived there. Hope you like them too .

Hello simfriends I' decided to do 5 try-out today: a) Aerosoft La Palma scenery b) Canarian OrthoPhotoSceneries imported in p3d4 (found on rikooo site for free) c) New Carenado aircraft C172 d) Synthetic vision system e) first post with shots in avsim forum Take off plus a low pass on foged La Palma airport... After one slow climb without visibilities, flying only with the svs (without gps or else) except IFR on PFD... Discovering a nice landscape. And have a good look on canarian volcan of La Palma - - - Descend for security with a low VS to the ocean and landing back in GCLA after folowing the linecoast. Have a good travel mark

Hello All, I recently received my PPL back in Oct 2012. All of my training was in a C172N. Due to the high cost of flying the real aircraft I am looking to suplement my experience with flight sims. I have been experimenting with FSX the past few weeks but have not been impressed so far. I have the Saitek/Cessna yoke, pedals and TPM and know there is a lot that I need to do to improve on the out of the box FSX installation. I have been reading a lot on the forums about things like AccuFeel and also getting addons for weather and scenery and will be experimenting with those. Some of my problems may just be in how I have things setup. I am willing to due the research but would appreciate some guidance from the experts. My first quest is to get a C172 model that handles as close as possible to the C172N that I used during training. I read that there are several different ways to improve the C172 such as adding in portions of the "Real Air C172" into the default C172 and also waiting for the ASA or Real Air C172 models to be released. Is my goal feasible? If so, can someone recommend or point me to information to help my quest? Thanks..

Hello everyone, I posted a topic on mycockpit.org because I would like to build a C172 home cockpit based on FSX, and the A2A C-172. I am a teenager starting flying lessons soon and would like to practice at home. The simulator would be based on the C172 but not exact. I'm probably going to base it off of Saitek panels because I have a low budget. Here's the post on mycockpit : http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28342&p=151468 Help would be much appreciated, thank you to all!

Exploring Alaska in X-Plane. While individual trees don't look great the effect of having loads of them really gives the impression of a dense forest.

I'm getting a lot more serious about flight simulation lately, and since I've always been using vanilla FSX, I think I'd like an upgrade. The C172 is the main choice for me, but I know that most FSX's default aircraft aren't the best. Is the default C172 fine (especially in the flight dynamics), or would an add-on prove quite better?

... but it's not green at all. Should be called Iceland ... wait - that name is already taken ... never mind. It makes for a huuuge runway though . (X-Plane, default scenery)
