  1. Hi all, Another noob trying to build an fsx computer... New to posting in avsim forums and computer building, but a long time user of fsx. Looking for advice on a build as i'm new to computer building and just want to make sure everything makes sense and I'm not doing anything stupid. The computer will be specific for fsx, using rex, gex, utx, pmdg ngx, on vatsim and three monitors. All on Win 7. The plan is to overclock it as much as possible. Here are the components I've chosen so far... I need to know how these will stack up with fsx, if i'm going overboard on anything, or there are any compatibility issues i should be aware of. Corsair Vengeance Series C70 GIGABYTE GV-N660OC-2GD GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD CORSAIR Hydro Series H110 Water Cooler 2 x SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Hi all! I have obv. some BUGS with the Corasair FG-1D from the MS MARKTEPLACE (Steam-Version). I would be happy for suggestions. I do like this bird, it is no cheap addon - therefore I am rather not willing to accept obvious flaws. So - whats the case: - bought it over the marketplace an therefore there is no quick way to give feedback to Milviz there (unclear how to get quick access to the Corsair forum) - everything is up to date (today 10 jan 2022) with my system and FS2020 and the Corsair Problems: In my opinion there is a bug with the aileron trim system. Per default, +6° right wing down is settled when you start the plane. +6° (right wing down) should be perfect for start. This is suggested in the manual and on the trimwheel inside the cockpit. Thats not the case. In my case 6° left (-6° on the wheel) ist perfekt (starting, normal flight). So, when i fly the plane, I have to turn the aileron trimwheel far to the left from +6° right to -6° left (left wing down). If I do so, the animation for the trim levers obv. are going into the wrong direction. Turning the trim wheel to the left (left wing down) - the trim levers on the left wing should go up, but they are going down. In my opinion this is the whrong direction. Trim flap up --> wing should go down. Trim flap down --> wing should go upward. As is the case with the bigger normal flaps. So there is something very odd... I have to trim into the wrong direction AND the animations are reverted. Not good. Any suggestion how to fix it? Maybe there is to be changed a plus into a minus in one of the files... maybe. Next bug is kown - flaps-animations: Sitting in the cockpit - flaps retracting. Looking out to the wings, everything is ok. Flaps going up. Now, if I switch to the outside camera, this very animation is displayed a second time. Flaps allready retracted are retracting once more. Additionally there is a slight flaw in the 3D-model in the inside oft the cockpit. Foot-pedals, when pressed, are going right through a metal part (some kind of hydraulic cylinder left and right of the peddals). No big deal. But in my opinion these bugs should not exist in such a rather high priced addon. For me this is slightly breakting the immersion. I like this plane and I really want to fix at least number one of the problem - the aileron trim.
  3. Hello! To begin with, ChasePlane is a great product. It's what I always wanted for FSX back in the day, now P3D, and I cant think of simming without it now. The fact it's still in alpha and can only get better/more stable with time is great. Good job, it can only get better :) Of course this is still in alpha so it´s not unusual to find things that don´t work well, or don´t seem to work well anyway. One problem I have right now and would like to point out. I just bought the Corsair Scimitar mouse especially to use with P3D in conjunction with ChasePlane to easily control and change views with all those sweet side buttons on the mouse. To make things work I assign key binding/key combo (making 100% sure it does not conflict with another binding in P3D, as in the key or key combination is absolutely not in use) to a certain view and register it with the "Presets" in the ChasePlane software. Then I make sure it works on the keyboard itself. Then I record that key/key combination macro to one of the buttons on the Scimitar mouse. Problem is it takes repeatedly pushing on the buttons for the views to kick in, it hardly works. I have tried many key combinations and made absolutely 100% sure that there are no conflicts, as in previous assignments in P3D have been deleted. Also, when I use the keyboard itself the views work perfectly and smoothly so the key assignment works but the executed macro on the mouse does not, or hardly. You can press the key maybe 3-10 times and then it kicks in. I know you guys are in alpha but just wanted to add a little to the conversation here on the forums. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong or if it´s something else. Kind regards Jon Sigard
  4. So, the only component left on my computer that can be upgraded is my PSU, which is a Dynex brand rated at 520W. What I run under this PSU is in my signature. I have heard feedback from the community that Dynex is not something I should be using, so I am thinking of replacing my current PSU with maybe a CX750 or a TX650 from Corsair. Which would be better, and what performance gain/stability would be brought with a brand-name PSU with increased wattage? Also, I have heard of a phenomenon called coil whine which happens on either the PSU or GPU. Would this upgrade cause my GPU to produce coil whine? Thanks in advance.
  5. I have a Corsair H100i as my water cooler on my 3930k and it works great.. but for one thing. I have to wait about 8 minutes after boot up for the pump RPM to hit 2200RPM. It sits at 500RPM while I wait. And with this aggressive overclock, I can't do anything at all until the fan kicks on. I have done searches on Corsair's forums but can't seem to find this exact problem. Everyone is complaining about the Corsair LINK software not letting them control the fan speed but I dont need fan crontrol. I need fan to spin fast right off the bat. This fan speed loss happens while sitting in the BIOS menu as well. After about 8 minutes though the cooler makes a sound like it's spinning down but the RPM goes up. While it's 500 rpm it's noisy as all hell but when it goes to 2200RPM it's quite??? Does that make any sense? It's kind of annoying having to wait 8 minutes before I can do anything on my PC. Any thoughts?
  6. I'm looking to upgrade my current 6 year old PC to one that can run fsx at a reasonable level without breaking the bank. I'm hoping to run fsx with a few addons such as pmdg 737 and REX, however as I have never built a PC with fsx in mind before I was hoping for some guidance/advice. The specification I'm planning is listed below: CPU: Intel i5-3570k Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V Memory: 8GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 1600MHz Graphics Card: 2GB GTX 650 Ti PSU: Corsair 650W I was hoping to overclock the CPU, (not to huge clock speeds just a boost) to get the most out of it for the price and was wondering whether investing in water cooling such as the H60 or H100 from Corsair is worth it as I am working towards the top of my budget already. So in essence two questions: What sort of performance could I expect out of this system for fsx with the addons listed? Is it worth purchasing water cooling systems, either single fan such as H60 or dual fan H100? Lastly if anybody has any suggestions on how to save some money on this system without hurting the performance of fsx too badly they would be much appreciated as I am fairly new to building computers for fsx Thank you very very much in advance. :help:
  7. Good-day to all, I apologize for not being more active here. Maybe that will have to change soon! Am bringing good tidings though! **With generous, and kind permission from A2A Simulations** I announce the release of this free expansion pack, for the excellent payware Aircraft Factory F4U-1 Corsair for FSX. THIS IS NOT A STAND-ALONE RELEASE! The original payware product from Aircraft Factory/A2A Simulations is required. This free expansion will not function without the prior purchase and installation of the original add-on. This is not an upgrade/update, nor is it a release affiliated with Aircraft Factory, or A2A Simulations. It is, however, made possible by their support, and permission. This expansion includes; New model materials New historic racer liveries New Flight Dynamics Model New systems modelling If you have not as to date purchased the original AF Corsair, there is no better time than now! Find it in the A2A store. This expansion contains over 1GB of material. The compressed auto-installer is 147mb. It is, for the time being, being offered exclusively at FASA. For details on this expansion, and the download link, click HERE We recommend you read the handbook supplied with this expansion pack, prior to attempting to fly the aircraft!
