  1. Hi all! I plan to fly shared cockpit (majestic dash 8) with a friend of mine and for this prupose I want to setup a profile for the Captain´s seat and one for the First officer´s seat. Is it possible to setup different profiles on one airplane in chaseplane? (You can toggle between profiles of differetent aircrafts in the preset section) So I want to have my Dash 8 and I want to have two profiles (Captain and FO) that I can apply by toggling profiles in the profile-bar of Chaseplane! Thanks in advance and happy easter!
  2. Would it be possible for one of you super talented painters out there to do a repaint of the Majestic Q400 in UW's Husky Purple and Gold? There's been one made already for the Cougars (grrr), Vandals, and University of Montana (I think), and this is the one I want the most! Pictures (Hopefully not copyrighted!): http://www.flickr.com/photos/52810288@N05/5605144428/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/djlpbb40/4261636192/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/clemensv/7078223435/ If you're feeling inspired and want to do the Ducks (http://www.flickr.com/photos/52810288@N05/8461013600/) as well, I won't complain at all... Thank you very much.
  3. Hi All , I was wondering if anyone knows of a possible (successful) merge of the Dreamwings Dash 8 Q200 with the PSS Dash 8 Panel. The default FDE of the Q200 has some flaws (over-sensitive pitch trim etc.) and I wonder if anyone has any fixes. Help Is appreciated! Kriss
  4. As of about 15 minutes ago, the Majestic web site and forum are still off line. So, we have opened an unofficial support forum for their new Dash 8 customers to use in the meantime. We will be moving all existing Dash 8 messages from the various forums to this forum. You can access the forum here; http://forum.avsim.net/forum/603-unofficial-majestic-software-support-forum/
  5. For those who are eagerly awaiting this as much as I am... Just a quick repost of last week's post over at the Majestic Software forums. Plenty of sexy preview videos in all phases of flight. 6. Hi All, Let me start by saying how much I love the Majestic Dash 8. The combination of fidelity, performance and the challenging short-haul sectors flown by the real thing makes it the best airliner sim for FSX in my book. My thanks go to all those involved in its development. There's one area of the flight dynamics which does trouble me though, as I posted in the thread: 'Help with Q400'. However, I think this subject is a bit off-topic for that thread, hence the new one. I've now had the opportunity to do some more testing: this time with a fully-loaded Q400. I've posted a series of screenshots below showing what I experienced. I'd like to emphasize now that I'm in no way a real-world pilot (let alone a Q400 driver) so I'd appreciate the input of other Q400 users on this issue. Here's the weight and balance sheet for the test flight. Close to max take-off mass with a 29000kg aircraft (including 4000kg of fuel). Here's confirmation of the aircraft weight and fuel quantity in the sim prior to engine start. Following take-off from EGTE I set the condition levers to 900rpm (MCL) and climbed at 200 kts using the IAS AFCS mode. Needless-to-say vertical speed and deck angles were pretty extreme during the first part of the climb. Lucky this was a test flight! Here we are just over 15 mins after take-off passing FL250. By this point V/S has decayed to +600fpm so you could be forgiven for thinking she hasn't got much climb left in her. However, after this shot was taken, I reduced the commanded IAS to 180kts which allowed the rate of climb to increase to +800fpm. 12 minutes later we're climbing through FL300: still at 180kts and +800fpm. A further 10 minutes into the flight sees us still climbing at +800fpm at 180kts: now we're passing through FL460! However, a few minutes later V/S does start to drop rather suddenly. An hour into the flight, we're passing through FL522, and V/S has dropped to 'only' +300fpm but we're still climbing steadily. I've also reduced the IAS to 158kts (Vclmb for out T/O weight) where it'll stay for the rest of the climb. You may notice the engine rpm starting to creep away from the FADEC commanded setting of 900rpm at this point. After another hour in the air*, we've finally reached what seem to be the absolute ceiling for the aircraft at this weight: FL636! (We've also burned about half of the fuel on board by now.) I could have traded a bit of airspeed for more altitude as I did in the previous test when I flew right up to stick-shaker activation. RPM is clearly over-speeding at this point. Wonder what would happen in the forthcoming pro version which I think has failures? (*I'll own up to using time compression for this bit, although I hadn't previously in the flight.) Here's the final portion of the flight see through the FSX 'flight analysis tool'. In posting this, I just wanted to provoke a bit of discussion about what's causing this odd ability to reach excessive altitudes in a flight model which otherwise seems so accurate. Any input from the developers would be very welcome, although I realise the Majestic forum is probably the best place to get this... (I know - I should register there!) All the best, Nick
  7. Shared Cockpit Community Update (FSX/P3D) When FSX (ESP) was created, Microsoft added some "Shared Cockpit" features for default or default compatible gauges, some switch positions and engine/flight controls. This type of shared cockpit is very limited. I generally refer to this as Microsoft Shared Cockpit. Third party Shared Cockpit does not use the Shared Cockpit programming in FSX/P3D, but rather uses a standard network interface implemented by the aircraft developer and which will allow for all aircraft functions (including the FMS) to be shared between two computers. This is the type of Shared Cockpit most people use for Third Party Airliners today. As an introduction, and the qualify what I'm about to say, let me say that I was a senior Beta Tester and the chief Shared Cockpit tester for the Majestic Dash 8 Q400. I'm also a Beta Tester and Advisor for Aerosoft, and I work with many of the leading developers in flight simulation. I've been in the flight sim community for over 30 years, and I have most every high end payware airliner for FSX/P3D, and I have roughly 8000 hours flying Shared Cockpit. I am the founder of the Online Virtual Pilots Association, a private group devoted to realism, high levels of immersion, and Shared Cockpit using CRM. Presently, there are only three airliners with a Virtual Cockpit which are fully Shared Cockpit capable. They are: Leonardo MD-80 Maddog. This is 1 of 2 of the best, most accurate and most realistic aircraft ever developed for Desktop Flight Simulation and is still at the front part of the pack. Not only is it Shared Cockpit capable, about 95%+ of anything you find in the real world FCOM (Operational Manual) will work correctly in this aircraft. Presently it is only FSX compatible. This aircraft is so incredible that I recently reinstalled FSX:SE to fly her - usually in Shared Cockpit. Also includes a weather radar, ground radar and ground map, and has the most complex/accurate GPWS of any FSX/P3D aircraft. It is also the only FSX/P3D aircraft that has a working predictive wind shear and audible wind shear alerts. Recently someone created a Virtual Cockpit Texture update for this aircraft which was terrific! Majestic Dash 8 Professional. This is the other 1 of 2 of the best aircraft ever developed for Desktop Flight Simulation, and is Shared Cockpit capable. Like the Maddog, 95% of what works in the real world FCOM will work in this aircraft, and it is the only FSX/P3D aircraft ever developed which in my opinion handles like a real aircraft due being the only aircraft using an external flight model (developed by NASA), thus is has more flight control variables which allow it to act/react as a real aircraft does. Aerosoft Airbus A318/A319/A320/A321 Series. An impressive, cost affordable model of the Airbus. Aerosoft calls Shared Cockpit "Connected Flight Deck", and it works EXTREMELY WELL! One is able to perform 90%+ of all operational procedures a real world flight crew would perform on the flight deck, and it's become a favorite of mine to fly (along with the Maddog and Dash 8). In the coming months we will see at least 3 more Shared Cockpit aircraft. Aerosoft A318 Experimental. This aicraft is a test bed for the Aerosoft A330, and will be free to everyone who owns either the Aerosoft A318/A319 or A320/A321 package. It looks as if it will be more deeply modeled than the present A318/A319/A320/A321 series, though Aerosoft plans to back fit the A318/A319/A320/A321 series with programming from the A318 Experimental and A330. Aerosoft A330. This will provide us with a wide body, long range aircraft that is Shared Cockpit capable, and I have a procedure which allows for a relief crew to take over on a long haul flight. TFDi Design B717. The Boeing 717 is actually the last of the MD-80 line. The Boeing designation came about as McDonald Douglass was purchased by Boeing during either the late design or early manufacture process of the B717. Replacing other digital gauges and DDIs are 6 large DDI (displays). Aerosoft has expressed interest in making their upcoming CRJ-700/900 Shared Cockpit capable at some point after initial release. This is not a promise, but Aerosoft has committed to the Shared Cockpit genre and I personally believe we will see this. There are other developers, including Quality Wings, who have approached me regarding Shared Cockpit, and I'm confident that we will see the list of Shared Cockpit aircraft grow considerably in the next few years.

  11. Guys, I've been a Boeing guy until somewhat recently, and one of the features I find most helpful in planning and monitoring my descents is the Banana (descent Arc). I'm learning the AXE Airbus A320/321 and the Majestic Dash 8, and I've noticed they both seem to lack the Banana. Does anyone know if the real world aircraft have the descent arc for the Navigation display? Thanks in advance. Dave
  12. is it just me or is the dash 8 q400 actually increasing frame rates in fsx! with this aircraft i get better frame rates than even when using the default trike. scenery used - orbx khqm. new tech rules!

  16. Gentlemen, I was wondering if the talented repaint maters might consider a US Coast Guard Dash 8 Q400 Livery. I understand there is at least one such aircraft in service. Also from what I understand, the US Department of Homeland Security and US Customs are operating at least one such aircraft a piece (no markings other than the reg number - unknown). I'd love to have a plain jane livery for such flights. What spurs my request is that this has proved to be an excellent VFR aircraft to check out the terrific AI Shipping freeware that was recently released. Below is a link to two large ships intercepting one another off of Miami (I supposed they technically collided) but it's really interesting to see and the ship models are EXCELLENT. I should also like to point out that different ships, on different courses show up at different times as I've made several short hops from Tampa to Miami and each time I see completely different ships on different headings. Really nice stuff! Can't wait for the US East Coast version (author working on it). HERE'S THE LINK TO THE SHORT VIDEO: http://www.twitch.tv/ovpa/c/2270833 Thanks.
  17. Friends, We (Majestic Beta Team members) recently tested an update to bring the Dash 8 up to P3D V3.3.5 compatibility, and the update has been released. You'll find the 1.018d patch in the Majestic User Area. There will also be a small update coming out for FSX users, though I believe the FSX Update mainly affects Shared Cockpit connections. The update was tested in Shared Cockpit in three different scenarios, one pilot, Shared Cockpit with Two Pilots, and Shared Cockpit with Two Pilots and an Observer. The update was also testing in in Shared Cockpit mode with two pilots running different versions of P3D Example 1: Pilot with P3DV3.35, Copilot with P3DV3.2 Example 2: Pilot with P3DV3.35, Copilot with P3DV3.3 Example 3: Pilot with P3DV3.35, Copilot with P3DV3.3, Observer with P3DV3.3 Our thanks to Andreas Stangenes for giving us a hand with testing the Shared Cockpit with Observer mode. Best wishes.
