  1. A little something I've picked up today that could be added at the top of the display elements for the Cessna 152: The gauges will react like in-game and shut down if the battery is OFF, if the COM or ADF volume is OFF, or Transponder mode is OFF. ADF: <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:ADF VOLUME:1, percent over 100) 0 > and</Visible> COM1/NAV1: <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:COM VOLUME:1, percent) 0 > and</Visible> COM2/NAV2: <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:COM VOLUME:2, percent) 0 > and</Visible> DME: (added to top Element) <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 ==</Visible> (substituted on next 3 Elements) <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:Selected DME, number) 1 == and (A:NAV1 DME, nmiles) 0.1 > and</Visible> <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:Selected DME, number) 2 == and (A:NAV2 DME, nmiles) 0.1 > and</Visible> <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:Selected DME, number) 1 == and (A:NAV1 DME, nmiles) 0.1 < and (A:Selected DME, number) 2 == (A:NAV2 DME, nmiles) 0.1 < and or</Visible> (untested with actual DME operating) Transponder: <Visible>(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, Bool) 1 == (A:TRANSPONDER STATE:1, Number) 0 > and</Visible> I know the transponder display does not shut down in-game, but it should (unless the numbers are inscribed on a rotating circular plate - but I don't see any motion in the animation - and I've never touched a real transponder in a Cessna 152) I'd share mine, but I've gutted out all the buttons, switches, potentiometers and encoders since I'm using external hardware. Even if you don't update the Lorby gauges, and G.W. doesn't see this thread, at least it'll be there for the next guy. Robert
  2. Hi, As far as I know the Bonanza A36 from Carenado don't have a RMI - Route Magnetic Indicator in the cockpit... and many times when I am departing from an Airport, I need to tackle a VOR/DME arc. Many of the tutorials I find to proceed with a VOR/DME arc, requiere a RMI instrument, and I think I don't have any inside the Bonanza A36, so I am wondering if do we have any videotutorial or tutorial available showing me how to follow a VOR/DME arc without RMI? Cheers I don't see any RMI ?
  3. Hello! Just one question. Does NGX support automatic radio tuning. Because many airlines have that option. I can't find a button for enabling it from my CDU. Thanks!
  4. hey there my fellow simmers!! i love the CarenadoSkywagon, just i don't love that it doesn't have DME. So i came with a workaround with the default Bendix King Radio Stack gauge (2D). This is an alternative to bliksimpie's DME and ADF combined gauge. Just came with this crazy idea and made it happen. Check this example below: To simulate old-school bush flying, i removed the GPS and instead put this DME gauge as panel N°2. *****BACKUP THE PANEL.CFG FIRST! just in case you don't like/goes wrong Replace the [Window01] section of your panel.cfg with this one. This will replace the GPS with the DME. if you want to replace another gauge, just copy it to another section (for example: replace [window08] and/or whatever; got it?) if you want you can change the window's name, at the beggining of the panel.cfg it says [window Titles], change the corresponding window number with a new name (DME or whatever) So okay! here goes my contribution to the "Cause"! and as usual... Cheers and happy flying! [Window01] //don't copy this line if you want to replace another gauge Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=234,61 ///312,82!! window_size_ratio=1.000 position=4 visible=0 ident=DME zorder=0 gauge00=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio DME, 0,0,234,61
  5. Hello Avsimmers! I apologise if this is the wrong place, but I wanted to post this where I knew there was knowledge. Lately I have been flying the BEAUTIFUL FSLabs a320 around Europe, however into airport with long runways on 20 mile finals.... which can get boring. So I found some great freeware airports, (Paphos, Zakynthos and Kefallonia) but they all have VOR/DME LOC/DME and RNAV approaches. I watched a Blackbox711 video on these, yet this was very confusing for me as I didn't fully understand all the terminology he was using (e.g. Radial, Outbound Course, Inbound Course) I was wondering whether someone could explain (very basically) the difference between these and the meaning of relevant info e.g. Course, Radial, etc. Also, if you could explain how some A320 functions are used in these situations that would be helpful. Thanks! Canine
  6. Hi everybody, Recently I bought a Carenado CT210M for X-Plane 11. During an investigation of problems I encountered with the BENDIX/KING HOL Display readouts, I discovered the following: When I clicked the "DME" button on the audio selection panel, I heard in morse code the ID "AFI". At that time I was doing a test flight in Belgium, near the city of Liège (EBLG). I started Navigraph Charts Desktop app and searched for the ID "AFI". The Navrigraph app told me that this ID belongs to a VOR-DME station at the city of "Affligem", Belgium, some 60 nm north of the city of Liège (if I remember well the direction). The frequency of this VOR-DME being: 114.9 MHz. Because I was not too far away from that station I decided to fly to it. I was asking myself: how come I hear this VOR-DME station while I had the X-Plane 530 (NAV1 / VLOC1) tuned to MAS VOR (106.8 MHz) and the X-Plane 430 (NAV2/VLOC2) tuned to LGE VOR (115.45 MHz) ? Next I turned on the X-Plane 11 Data Output for DME. I saw that the last column of this Data Output, with the caption "DME-3" was constantly giving the value "114.90" which is the frequency of the Affligem VOR-DME (in this region where I was flying the CT210M X11). There is/was no way to control the obviously fixed tuning to 114.9 MHz of the DME, of which the audio (morse code) could be heard via the DME button on the audio panel. Anyone that has more knowledge about this ? I would appreciate your reaction. Paulsk
  7. Hi, Carenado has obviously forgotten to equip his 690 with a NAV1/NAV2 swap switch to select the DME source. Is there a way to link the DME to NAV2, instead of NAV1? Thank you.
  8. Hi there, When flying with the PMDG 737 800, I can't get any vor dme approaches, to airports that I know have them. I am using the latest navigraph airac. I have included a picture to show the issue. At LPMA, I should have a option to fly a vor dme approach, and none of the approaches match up with the approach plate. How do I get a vor dme approach? Regards DcoltGaming
  9. Hello there my fellow aviators. I think that FSX navaids have too much range, according to what I've read in wikipedia... it states that the range is limited to the horizon but also gives some ranges passing 100nm as well... dont understand. I also now about skywave propagation of NDBs, so I'm not SO noob :D Here are the FSX values (used ADEx to check,, from varius airports around the world): DME High Altitude: 195.05NM DME low altitude: 60.02NM VOR/DME Low Altitude: 60.02NM VOR/DME High Altitude:195.05NM VOR High Altitude: 195.05 NM VOR Low Altitude: 60.02NM NDB HH: 112.53NM and one managed to throw 75.02NM NDB H: 75.05NM NDB MH: 37.51NM NDB Compass Locator: 22.51NM I mostly fly GA aviation in alaska and below 7500ft (Unpressurized aircrafts btw). I simulate air taxi and bush flying, my goal is to make it as realistic as possible, I don't even use GPS! (yes, I'm a vintage virtual flyer :D:D:D) Any imput from a Real world Pilot is appreciated, as i'm just a virtual one. Cheers and Happy Flying!! ltnicolas (Nicolas)
  10. What are the reasons one would want to do this (see topic)? I question this only because sometimes when I load a saved game the INS is all goofed out. Waypoints seem loaded but the plane does not at all go to the proper point. I'm guessing that my plane position while in flight is not seen properly by the INS and I somehow have to retell ( aka as Alignment?) the INS where the plane's exact current location is. This sound right? I'm trying to learn all this btw. Thanks for any help.
