  1. Greetings All,I've searched and not found a similar issue, if it has been brought up before - I apologize. I am attempting to fly the 737NGX via the VC through eyefinity with 3 monitors. FSX is configured with the proper resolution and the config file has the wideview set to TRUE. The problem is that it places me WAYYYY too close to the windscreen. Even if I zoom all the way out to .3, I still can't see anything inside except the glareshield. Then, as I move my point of view back, the seat gets in the way (and then the bulkhead). Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Anyone running eyefinity that can share their setup that i can emulate? The view is fine when runnning on one screen - and I know eyefinity is running properly as it works great with my iRacing. Running the pictures through a MSI R6950 card, by the way just in case that's relevent ;-) Thanks all for whatever wisdom you can share.
  2. A lot of people fly FS with 3 monitors. A common known issue with widescreen monitors are the side distortion effect on the left and right monitors. While searching the AVSIM forums, it appears that a solution to this problem is in development for Prepar3D called Prepp3D. I'm not sure how it works but I think it involves some work with shaders. I think the DX10 Fixer does something with shaders as well. However I was wondering if anyone know if a possible solution to this distortion problem can be implemented using the DX10 Fixer? I did find one video on YouTube of someone flying 3 widescreen monitors and he had no side distortion. The user in the video says that he only changes zoom to 1.00 to fix the problem, but as many of you already know, that does not completely remove the distortion effect. I have posted a link to the video below. If anyone knows how he was able to remove the side distortion in his video, a suggestion on this thread would be welcomed. 3. when flying my a320 on one screen i like to click on the glass cockpit display to enlarge so its a lot easier for me to see the speed and altitude. when i fly with 3 screens the glass cockpit display wont enlarge and pop out into a separate window for some reason. im sure its to do with the it not being able to handle the wide screen but is there any way you can edit that in a cfg or something to make it work. any solution?
  4. Hello, Hoping somebody can help before I lose the will to live. I have reciently got 3 Triple monitors for my flight sim experience. I am getting an Average of about 22fps. It gets high FPS everywhere else other than the VC. But none of it is constant. I have it set on Unlimited. I use Eyeinfinity of a Resolution of 5760x1200. My Specs will be below. I run orbx Global and Orbx England, and it looks terrible.. So does REX which is unlike before. I hope somebody can help as there is very little information about AMD around. Its what I have and what I was able to get hold off. The Specs are still pretty decent in my opinion. Just wish the game would react fps wise. Anyway thank you in advanced. Any more information needed don't hesitate to contact me. Intel i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30Ghz Windows 7 Ultimate, AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series, 3x Monitors Eyefinity at 5760x1200, Foxconn Rattler Motherboard and 8GB Ram/Memory. FSX CFG File: http://pastebin.com/inuV5FRQ Btw I have tried many tweaks now.
  5. Hello all, I recently purchased another monitor and a GTX680 to utilize a triple monitor Surround/Eyefinity setup. All was well, until I saw the rain. Wow! What an awful effect. And, furthermore, the rain graphic was not nearly filling the entire drawing surface at certain angles, especially in spot view. Basically, it looks like the rain effect is very simple. FSX simply draws a transparent cylinder that is always transformed to screen space. This cylinder is textured with a repeating series of small rain textures which are scaled lengthwise to the rain intensity as well as moved along the surface of the cylinder a bit each frame. FSX then rotates this cylinder based on various inputs, such as wind direction, aircraft velocity, and camera movement. All in all, the effect is pretty darn terrible, but given the limited number of inputs passed in to the shader, there's not a whole lot that can be done. However, I was able to fix a few problems. Firstly, the rain cylinder will no longer be cut off at extremely wide resolutions. The problem was that the cylinder was intersecting with the camera plane, and therefore clipped. I also incorporated the prior suggested fix for the opposite problem, which is when the cylinder intersects with the environment and gets clipped. The solution in the first case was to scale the rain cylinder 4x in the x and y directions, and in the latter case to disable z-buffer tests. I also took the liberty of decreasing the opacity of the rain a touch as well as making the streaks a little smaller. This reduces the "millions of fat laser beams" effect. At very wide exterior zooms this looks marginally worse than the original, and better in pretty much all other cases. I have attached the .fx file. Place it into your ShadersHLSL\misc\ folder in your FSX install. Be sure to make a backup of the original as well as delete the DX10 shader cache before running FSX. The shader cache can be found in your Windows user folder, under AppData (Application Data in XP), then local\Microsoft\FSX\. Just remove the Shaders10 folder and FSX will rebuild the shader cache. You can find the file here: http://www.sounduit.com/rain40.zip -Matt
  6. Hey everyone, I have got some exciting news to share, I am almost there with Set and Forget settings for my P3D - I am in my final stages of testing (hopefully a document should be posted on avsim - with tons of screenshots, and Prepar3D.config settings etc) – while avoiding major OOM CTDs when simming. There is no way I was able to achieve this fluid level of performance with FSX (especially with my i5-750 system). I tried every trick in the book for FSX, without buying new hardware, and minimizing my tweak time with P3D config. I wanted performance with triple screen. Once you sim in triple screen, you can’t go back to single screen. As for software, I do own fair amount flight sim products (see listing below), performance with Orbx Scenries was crucial for me. For these tweaks to work effectively there are few critical components required and that includes hardware and software. I am basing the components off of my hardware and making some assumptions along the way. Operating System - Windows 8 64 Bit (or Windows 7 64 Bit) Hardware - SSD Ram - 8GB+ DDR3 Flight Sim - Prepar3D 1.4 Addons - FSUIPC Registered (Solves Win 8's joystick problem) Video Card - Eyefinity Capable / I am sure this should apply to Nvidia Surround My Hardware Cpu - i5-750 (OC to 4.01 Ghz) Ram - 8GB+ Ram DDR-1866 (OC to 1910) SSD - 256 Sata III (6 G/bits) - I have a Sata 3 addon card for my intel 1156 motherboard Video - One XFX AMD 6970 Radeon 2GB Card (not overclocked). Joystick – Thrustmaster Hotas-X Monitors - 3x 1920x1200 Resolution Monitors My Software (all software is fully registered/freeware and currently installed, not running any trial or demos). OS - Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit FlightSim - Prepar3d 1.4 Only (Clean System, No FSX installed) FlightSim Utilities - FSUIPC, FSX to Prepar3d Migration Tool AI Traffic - My Traffic 5.4B P3D Weather Generation - OpusFSX for weather Textures - REX Essentials with Overdrive Upgrade Sceneries - FSDT KJFK, Orbx - PNW, KORS Airport, All Orbx Freeware, New Zealand North and South Island Aircrafts - Carenado HD Series (I bought so many during christmas sale), Aerosoft Airbus X, Quality Wings 146. Misc - FS Flying School Pro 2013 P3D, SimLauncher 8.4 During the Testing, I flew a Carenado King, and Quality Wings 146, with My Traffic 5.4B's AI traffic, Orbx Sceneries, OpusFSX for Live weather, Rex textures, few Firefox browser windows, and VLC in the background playing my music. I have road and water traffic disabled, have not tested them properly - I hardly notice that they are missing, but I will test it soon. Stay tuned and lets all keep this thread fun and entertaining (it will probably motivate me faster to get all my testing done, and post results). I will keep posting screenshots throughout the day/weekend My core audience is Eyefinity, and though some of the config’s should apply to all P3D users, and I am not promising anything, nor may you get the same level of performance. I just hope my testing/work helps you out to get more from your system. This should be fun and educational. Let’s hope for the best, and have a great “happy Easter” weekend. Here are some teaser triple screen shots (around 1MB - embedded links from my team site per forum's new policy) - Screen Shot Resolution 6080x1137 Teaser 1 Teaser 2
