  1. We have introduced a new feature today that allows you to embed Google Docs (Doc, Spread Sheets, Presentations) into your AVSIM forum postings. Here is an example using the AVSIM Terms of Service. See below for more detail on how to use this feature. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qk5SbmiSOVAsGjDlP3z8OxSZxnBa4SvFHh6tBmGS28A/pub To accomplish, publish your document so that it is public and then copy and paste the URL to that document, spreadsheet or presentation here. The URL used for the above TOS example looks like this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qk5SbmiSOVAsGjDlP3z8OxSZxnBa4SvFHh6tBmGS28A/pub That's all there is to it! Enjoy!
  2. Hello To Any Early Pilots ------- After reading the product page on the Carenado site, a bunch of questions pop out but can probably only be answered by actual owner/pilots. Here are a few that have my interest and that of others I am sure. Not in any particular order. 1. G1000 features. Which operating features have been modeled and which ones have not? 2. G1000 data base? FSX? Navigraph? Both? (etc). 3. G1000 FLC and FADEC functions. Does they work correctly? 4. G1000 Weather Radar. Is it a "dumb" radar or does it utilize actual weather to develop plausible display patterns? (Like the RXP Radar). 5. G1000 Flight Planning. Does it work beyond simple plan input? For example, can you edit flight plans at any time? User defined waypoints -- can you specify and store? 6. Clickable panels? What works and does not work? Just a few questions here to get started. Comparing strongly to both the F1 Mustang and Feelthere Phenom 100. Info on product page is pretty thin. Any comments and info much appreciated. Thanks !!!!
  3. We occasionally like to take the pulse of our members and gauge what's important to you and what's not. We have put together a simple 9 question survey regarding some of our major features that we would like you to rate. The concept is simple; rate a feature using a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being "MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU". An entry of 1 will indicate that the feature being reviewed is not important to you at all. You can participate in the survey here and we would appreciate you taking the short two minutes or less to fill it out.
  4. Hello folks, this was going into the 747v3 beta announcement thread at first, but then I decided it would be better as a separate topic, as it became a rather lengthy piece. It's specifically aimed at Kyle and other PMDGers, but feel free to chip in. Sometimes I wonder, how much more of an improvement we can expect in terms of fidelity and memory usage on the FSX platform, especially regarding future products. The 32bit limit is not going away, unless you change to X-Plane or P3D (the latter being cost-prohibitive for modest earners like myself - and according to PMDG forum staff - not even legally sound). It has been said that the memory footprint of this product (747v3) has been improved over the T7, yet will we have do deal with the same limitations to avoid OOM-armageddon (switching off scenery, dial down textures, etc.)? It sometimes dims my enthusiasm to content with the ancient FSX architecture for the sake of cost savings and legal concerns. The old problem of wanting the newest, most flashy features without investing a fortune. Of course PMDG will not disclose their long-term production schedule here, but how much more can we hope to gain from FSX and PMDG going forward. Seeing the increasing duration of development cycles and how our favorite sim company cranks the dials to 11 every time. How much longer until FSX will be abandoned for the sake of technological progress? I am not a student pilot, not a flight instructor, just a random guy in his thirties who lives the dream of flying an airliner from the front of the tube - being as close to real procedures as possible. I fly only for recreational purposes, so according to LockMart (and PMDG), should not use P3D. Yet it seems to be the most modern, feature-rich and compatible platform out there. I drool over those screenshots in the new 747 thread, fully aware that it will never look like that in my FSX. It feels like standing in front of a Tesla store and dreaming of a Model X in the garage. Yes, many simmers do not care about the legal side of things (hell, not even some of the developers do), they fork out lots of cash to get their fix (then there is the underground pirate community). But I am starting to feel a bit lost in all of this. What does the developer community expect us to do? Flight simming was always an expensive hobby. But the top end of the market moves ever further out of reach for the average simmer. Switching over from FS9 to FSX was alright, but the price point of everything P3D is obviously aimed at the business world. No way am I paying the price of a dishwasher or gaming console on every upgrade cycle. Even if I had the means, it would be irrational. If this trend continues, I would rather earn a PPL and fly for real. I am worried about the future of my sim hobby. Please, try to approximate your vision regarding FSX. Disregarding eye-candy, will major advancements be omitted on the legacy platform in future releases? What upgrade path would you recommend for the private consumer? TL;DR Some poor guy is worried about the lifespan left in FSX and is uncertain on how to proceed. Please advice.
  5. Is there a flying manual available anywhere for the new infinite flight app? I'm very interested In using it to its full ability including using the FPL & WPT features, but I am not having much success. Thanks!!!!
  6. -Little Diomede not modeled, low res textures -Savoonga not modeled, low res textures -Stutters in some areas e.g. McGrath Landing Challenge To be continued... PS: Overall Alaska is great! And i would love the Carbon Cub if it had a cockit, without i just slightly like it.
  7. How important are some of the many AVSIM Features to you? Please participate and let us know.
  8. We have brought two new features online tonight (neither of which effect system performance for those that worry about that kind of stuff)... FRIENDS ONLINE: If you have friends online, you will now see an icon and the number of friends at the top right corner of the display. You can click on it and send messages to your friends listed there. You can also control whether this displays at all by going to your UCP and changing the settings for Friend Online. TROLL / SPAM REPORTING: if you look at the bottom of posts now, where the reply and other functions are located, you will see a new function labeled TROLL / SPAM. If you have been with the AVSIM forums long enough and have 150 posts to your credit, you can use this function to report Trolls and Spammers. Unlike the normal REPORT function, this one has some special features that we won't post; suffice to say that TROLLS will get a lot of attention when you use this.
  9. As we near the release of the PMDG 777X base pack I thought it would be useful to create a single forum topic where all the 777 features and info (such as EFB, taxi camera, ECL) that have been debated (and resolved by the development team) are put together to form a more or less concrete picture/idea of what we are going to get upon release. This should also help newcomers find out what to expect and prevent creating topics on subjects that have been discussed months ago. I'll start with what I know: *777-200LR basepack *ECL included *EFB will be added as a service pack later on *Full VC cockpit and modelling and other PMDG features *Accurate sound simulated *Full simulation of 777 performance and *All boeing options will be modelled (like the NGX) *Options accessilbe through the FMC (like the NGX) *Real-time refuelling availble like the MD11 (please correct if wrong) *777-300ER willl be the first addon *The next addon will the 200ER/F *Then we will have the 200/300 models (depending on market interest) If a topic like mine already exists, please delete
  10. I wish/hope there is some way MS Flight users can submit feature requests and bugs directly to the Microsoft Flight development team.Yes, there is an email address, but there seems to be no public forum or knowledge base for features and fixes, so we could see what's being considered or not. After my limited experience as a beta user (where we had a direct feedback database) and now with the initial release, I can say the top two missing features on my wish list are:1) Force feedback for my Microsoft Sidewinder FF2 joystick - surely the code already existsts add this missing bit of realism to Flight?2) Flight planning - another simple bit of code with a big payoff in added realism. It will be essential for flying around Alaska!Do some of you knowledgeable Forum members know if Microsoft has or will have a mechanism for gathering and displaying such feature requests?
