  1. We have reached a point where we need to ask one simple question; what is your sim of choice? When you want to go virtually flying, which of the available sims do you jump into and fire up? The last poll we did on this was included in the demographic for 2012, but that was posted a while ago, and a lot has happened. So, today, which flight simulator is your go to product? You can take the poll here.
  2. Hi all - I'm already aware that people have had issues with FPS drop when the mouse is on screen, but my issue is in reverse  As soon as the mouse auto-hides itself, my FPS drops to around 10-12. I wiggle the mouse and it pops back up to 28-32. It didn't always used to do it, it just started doing it one day. Drives me nuts! If anyone can help or offer a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks FSX on a standard HP Pavilion laptop, Triple-core AMD Processor with integrated graphics, 3GB Ram - Runs like a dream
  3. VAC - Virtual Air Canada releases V4 website. Visit us at www.vacanada.org [Montreal, Canada] On Friday July 6, 2012, VAC - Virtual Air Canada had the pleasure of releasing the latest version 4 of its brand new website. With new technology implemented, our pilots experience the most realistic operations to date. Our core philosophy is realism and professionalism. Members have access to a highly automated, accurate and easy to use flight planning/bidding system, VACARS tracking program and many more. VAC is also the first virtual airline in Canada in fulfilling our commitment to languages by offering a bilingual website (official languages of Canada in English/French) to our members language of choice. Established in 1998, Virtual Air Canada is a worldwide virtual airline community of real world pilots, flight simulator pilots and aviation enthusiasts who want more realism added to their flights by utilizing Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004 and Flight Simulator X. The virtual airline mirrors its daily operations on real world schedules, routes and flights. Comprised of volunteer staff who operate and manage the not-for-profit organization, VAC is Canada's largest operating and leading virtual airline, and awarded the Top10 virtual airline in the world. Through our partnership with VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network) and VATCAN (Virtual Air Traffic Canada), VAC members can experience a more advanced level environment of online flying with other virtual pilots around the world where real world procedures apply. Online flying is encouraged for our pilots as a majority of flights are flown connected to the VATSIM network. VAC is Canada's national virtual airline carrier since April 1998. VAC provides virtual scheduled services to more then 21 Canadian, 30 American, 54 in Asia, the Middle East, Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico and South American cities. VAC operates more than 1300 virtual flights per day around the globe. Expansion in Canadian and foreign destinations are anticipated to add more selection and flexibility for our virtual pilots. VAC is headquartered in Montreal with primary operations out of Toronto, Canada. Virtual pilots are based in one of four bases - Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver. With over 2000 active virtual pilots around the world, VAC is a fully automated virtual airline. We are proud of our programs and services offered to our member pilots. They range from our very convenient and easy access programs, to a variety of automated services as well as our fine selection of high quality fleet models and liveries. Our performance standards of our members are high but our virtual pilots can count on superior member services from our staff during their virtual career with us. A unique program developed at VAC is known as the Pilot Mentor Program. The mentors are a select few of highly qualified and verified members who hold a valid pilot's license, from private pilots to commercial pilots. These members have volunteered their mentoring services in our pilot forums by providing assistance and guidance to member questions. However they do not provide live instructional training on flights. Visit us today at www.vacanada.org
  4. Being a hardcore Flight Sim Gamer from early on with Microsoft I have waited eagerly for MS Flight. I must say it is time to relegate what we called flight simming to the past. I downloaded and tried MS Flight and to be fair it is a decent Video Game but it is no longer even close to a Flight Sim in my opinion. So I uninstalled it. My next prediction is that in two shakes of a Stearman's Tail it will be on XBOX live, that is where it belongs. In the meantime I found http://www.ge flightsimulator.com, check it out fly anywhere you want with realtime scenery, in planes, with sound, use the joystick, takeoff and land. Oh, did I mention it is FREE, not a small piece free but all of Google Earth.Fly High, Fly Free,Dan
  5. Welcome to the AeroFly flight simulator forum. AeroFly is best known for their radio control flight trainers. They are now selling a full blown simulator and we are pleased to open a forum for U.S. and international users to frequent. Check the sim out at http://www.aeroflyfs.com/index.php/en/

  7. What are the differences between Desk Pilot Free and Professional? Is it mostly graphical interfaces or does it impact the ability to read control inputs on the aircraft, etc.? Also, a friend and I used Desk Pilot with P3D and it worked pretty smoothly.
  8. A couple of weeks ago, when we attempted to upgrade the underlying system software to its latest revision, we discovered that the 43 tables associated with the LINKS system were corrupted. This was one of the major reasons that the upgrade failed. We have since replaced the links system, but were unable to recover the data that had been stored in the database. We apologize to everyone who helped populate the LINKS system; there was a tremendous amount of information stored there. Please visit the new LINK system and resubmit your site, your favorite sites, and other information as you can. 11. So, I had x plane 11 on my laptop: CPU: 1.8 GHz RAM: 8gb 750gb HDD And I just switched it over to my desktop: CPU: 3.8 GHz RAM: 8gb 1tb HDD, newly formatted and a brand new install of windows 10 * My desktop does not have an upgraded graphics card nor does my laptop * All settings are on minimum I have not run any tests on my desktop yet to see the usage of the cpu and other items. I dont believe my cpu is overheating because everything else runs perfect. This just doesnt make sense to me. I can actually fly a plane on my laptop with a slower processor, but not on my desktop with the same RAM and nearly twice the processing power. Any ides are welcome. Id rather not shell out extra cash for a graphics card, but I might be willing to purchase more RAM.
  12. Hi all! I recently ordered too many of FSX Steam edition software packages to sell on my website. I usually sell them at the normal retail price of $22.50 but since I have WAY too many, I figured I'd discount them like crazy and see how many I can clear out of inventory in a week. Anyway, I just have 7 left in stock and I don't get another shipment for awhile now. If ya'll want to grab one, for yourself or a friend, they're $9.99 each. First come, first serve. :) Here's the link to the product page: http://www.pilotresourcesandmore.com/store/p36/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_X%3A_Steam_Edition_(Boxed_Steam_Code).html"]http://www.pilotresourcesandmore.com/store/p36/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_X%3A_Steam_Edition_(Boxed_Steam_Code).html[/URL]

  15. Hi everyone,As we all know, the new and very sexy ASE2012 is out, and if it's not a hot-topic now, it probably will be.I'd like to start up an open discussion to find out how and what is the best way to configure ASE2012 over a network? The ASE2012 document / guide i feel is ambiguous - and doesnt clearly highlight what and where we need to do, or what todo step by step... eg, install SP1a and SP2 for SDK..etc...which im reading this can cause CTD's later on in flight? Also, the simconnect.xml can be located, but the simconnect.ini cant be located, so wondering does this come from SDK installs or from FSUIPC?When installing ASE2012, how do we get this to interract with the PC with FSX on it? EG: How do we find the domain IP so we can write this in to the simconnect. xml if im right?More questions around process and what the steps are to getting ASE to talk to FSX...so far, my attempts are not showing anything other than FSX: Disconnected....etc...Any help would be greatfully appreciated.Darryl
  16. In late 1987, I was in a retail store in MA. and a new department with computer software was setup. Always in search for the ultimate game, a title caught my eye. It was Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer. The PC upgrades immediately started. The CGA card went out for a VGA card (1 1/2 weeks of salary). Memory upgrade from 512k to 640k. Math-co processor, then a 286 PC, then a 386pc. In 1989 - FS3 went on my computer and I never looked back. More hardware upgrades came to run it smoothly. The 486 PC (2 months salary) came. Then FS4 came out - and add-ons really started coming. I started a BBS to distribute download files (32 Bit Bus BBS) It grew to 6 PC's and 6 telephone lines. FS5, FS95, FS98, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004, FS9, FSX Fly!, ATP, and a few other programs along with all the combat sims starting with subLogic Jet, F-19, all the Jane's titles, Microprose titles, EA, etc. etc. I think of all the scenery I bought - starting with Scenery Disk #12. All the aircraft, weather programs, flight planners, tweakers, gauges, checklists. All the hardware. Processors, cases, motherboards, graphics cards, yokes, peddals, joysticks, button tablets, gaming keyboards. Now I think back over the last 25 years - since I was 20 years old - how many evenings and weekends I lost. I have spent 3 hours on Saturday mornings just planning for a flight. How many blue screens, and resets, and hours upon hours of frustrating tweaking and setups and hardware issues. I think about my kids growing up watching their dad glued to a computer. How many times I was late for events because I just had to get the aircraft up to cruising altitude and engage the autopilot. All the sunshinning days I was locked in my home office completely involved in a hobby - that gave very little back. All the horrible thoughts I had - wishing my family would go out for a few hours so I could have uninterrupted time in a dark office simulating an airline flight. 10 years ago, the secret joy I had when the family went out of town for a week and I was alone doing all the long uninterrupted flights I never had time for. How I had a hard time watching movies with my wife because I was wishing I had these 2 hours to make a flight. The 3 times a day - every day - I checked all the websites to see if any new add-ons were being introduced. I was obsessed with pinball and video games in the arcade when I was a kid, and Flight Simulator as an adult. The hobby has stressed me personally and financially because I couldn't do it in moderation. So before I get much older and realize my entire life passed me by, I decided to clean everything off my hard drive and dump the yoke, pedals and joysticks in the trash. The computer goes on e-bay and I will buy a tablet for browsing and e-mail which is the only other thing I do with a computer. God bless you to those who can do this hobby in moderation. If my story sounds familiar, maybe we should start a support group for those trying to get off the hobby. I will say though, the community for FS is world-class. The simmers, the freeware and commercial developers, and community forum operators are the most helpful and mature group of folks I've encountered in the cyber world. Thanks to everyone I've interacted with over the years. Time to get outside. Bob Bernstein bb1134@yahoo.com~
  17. Hi everyone, I have some questions around SDK and ASE2012.1) To install ActiveSKY2012 and have this running over a network, the documentation is saying to install FSX Deluxe with SDK. After installing SDK, do i need next to bring FSX up to date to the correct version number>?EG: SP1A and thats it? SP1A and normal SP2 for FSX, or perhaps, SDK SP2 ...etc...not sure what one I need, after installing SDK SP2, it deletes certain GMAX files from SP1A...and i have read on forums some people are using SP1A and then normal FSX SP2 which could cause issues, when crashing to desktop (CTD) ... whats with the SDK SP2...is this really required?2) Does anyone know how to install and run ASE2012 on a networked connection? When reading the document, I have no idea what the simconnect.xml files should be reading, by way of IP coz I dont even know how to find my IP for my pc? I am running FSX google earth track, where it's set up over IPv4 and my PC name is in the address or host name field and using port 9017, which seems to be working ok, and then i read that ASE2012 needs to use port 500, but in the simconnect doc.xml it only has one entry for the 9017 port, so where do i put the other entry?3) I have found the simconnect.xml but i cant find the simconnect.ini file, and where it should be, it's not, so any ideas guys? Any help would be hugely appreciated....coz right now, im confused.comCheers,Darryl
