Here is the situation.I have a decent computer with allot of relatively good equipment/ see my signature belowThe machine is O.C'd i7 965 3.2 @ 4,2 stableI have a video card with 3 gb memory 580gtx video card and a second older cardI start the sim fsx 1,2 Accel . I load up the pmdg 737 ngx ( which by the way is outstanding !)I sit at cyyz and do some flight planning, ( frame rates +/- 25 ). Im using the external limiter and ******* tweaks.Go Online with vatsim and prep for a filghtAs I plan my flight and after about 10 mins of connection to vatsim , I will go to about 4-5 fpsNot even flyable! So I tried this same scenario but at other airports and it is the same thing.I even tried disconnecting from the vatsim network and the frame rates did not come back. So I dont think it is in anyway the networkThe only think that worked was to change aircraft. ( i used a ms lear jet once frames dropped ) and the frames can right backI then changed back to the pmdg and the frame stayed high. Now I dont know this but somehow as the plane sits at an airport, something about the pmdg just bogs down the sim over time . All I can tell you is from this limited experimentation something is just not rightI have recently updated to the most recent sp. for pmdg ngx and I still have the same situationI know there will be someone here with some ideasI have to admit it is all gets a bit frustrating!Peterpkofman@rogers.com

Well, I thought I would try the 737 NGX, I was fully prepared for a big let down in the frame rate department, but glad to report between 22-36 in the vc on the ground and air, I cannot quite believe it!!! And that is with the sliders at a good level too. Thankyou PMDG for a superb plane. Intel 2 core duo 3.3, 6gb Ram 9800GT GPU and Asus PQ5L.

I know this question has probably been asked a million times now, but from past experience, what do you think it better? I currently own REX 2.0 (I'm getting Essentials tomorrow when I have the time) and I'm also thinking of buying ActiveSky 2012. The problem I find with REX is that it takes absolutely ages to install textures, and this really gets on my nerves. I've heard that AS' weather and clouds is better/more realistic but I've also heard that REX has better textures. So what do people do, use both? Any past experience, I really want to hear some!!

I am using PMDG 737 NGX and I am amazed at the high quality of the product. I have been having some issues with full flights and I am in the process of investigating performance limitations. All seems to be well with all flights until I get to the final stages. One flight completely locked up with 2 miles to go and a flight today landed but with just a few miles to go it got very jumpy and difficult to fly. I also have some challenges running the pmdg 737 ngx. I cant seem to make it work with the ngx as a default aircraft. I also cannot managed to save it with the screen configurations in place, so that when I reload these configurations, the screens have gone back to the default settins. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro, Intel Core i7 - 4770 cpu 3.4 ghz, 32gb ram and nvidia geforce 970 graphics card. I use P3D v4 and obviously pmdg 737 ngx. Can anyone suggest why I seem to have these issues? Regards Alan H

This is a forum of my findings with testing FSX and CrossfireX. My system: OS: Windows 7 x64 CPU: i7-980 3.33ghz Ram: 16 GB Sniper 1866 SSD: 250 GB Samsung 840, 2 X OCZ 60 GB HDD: 1 TB Hitachi, 1 Samsung HD105SI CD/DVD Drive: HP CDDVDW GPU: 2 X Radeon HD 7850 2GB OC'd to 1050, 1400 FSX with Crossfire with Bojote tweak tool: Settings: [Graphics] Fram Rate: Unlimited Resolution: 1920x1080 Anisotropic: On Anti-aliasing: Checked Global Texture: Very High Lens Flare: Check Advanced Animations: Check [Aircraft] Default View: 3-D virtual cockpit High Res: Check Aircraft Lights Illum Ground: Check [scenery] LOD: Large Mesh com: 75 Mesh res: 5m Texture res: 15cm Water effects: Low 2.x Scenery com: Extreme Autogen den: Dense Special effects: High [Weather] Cloud Draw: 60mi Cloud Detail: Detaild and maximum Downloads Winds Aloft: Check Rate of Change: Medium [Traffic] All 0 and Labels Off [sound] All 50 Results: Ultra Light and Friday Harbor (in air): 38-60 Ultra Light and Friday Harbor (on ground): 34-50 Ultra Light and KLAX (FsDreamteam {in air}): 30-40 Ultra Light and KLAX (FsDreamteam {on ground}): 25-45 NGX and KLAX (FsDreamteam {in air}): 14-18 NGX and KLAX (FsDreamteam {on ground}): 14-16 Now the major jumps in fps on some results is because I panned around the VC and those were the averages. FSX without CFX: Same Settings and CFG as before. Results: Ultra Light and Friday Harbor (in air): 40-50 Ultra Light and Friday Harbor (on ground): 40-80 Ultra Light and KLAX (in air): 34-54 Ultra Light and KLAX (on ground): 38-60 NGX and KLAX (in air): 20-30 NGX and KLAX (on ground): 25-40 I forgot to mention that I have ORBX, REX Essential, and ASE installed and running while doing these tests.

Whenever I first load a flight, I get solid frame rates (20+) and smooth panning of views. However, as time goes on, my frame rates steadily drop. What might be causing this? Thanks,boeing247

HI, I am sure there have been many people asking about the holy grail of frame rates, but i am a little stuck, even after looking all over the place for solutions. However, i also see people posting amazing frame rates with lesser systems than i am running. Just got a new system; Geforce GTX 780 3gb Ram 32GB 1866 Ram i7-3930k processor I do have some programs installed. Ultimate Terrain, Ground and Environment. Again though, i have seen people running this with great frame rates. I am currently achieving around 12-20fps from an external view of the plane and i can get to 30 if in standard cockpit or virtual cockpit (only if in it for a while though). I also have addon airport Scenery, that i appreciate can slow things. My current settings are quite high, but not maxed out, and even moving them down doesn't seem to do allot. I am running Directx9 mode as the directx10 has too many issues with addon scenery from what i have tried. I dont know if there is a solution to this, but any thoughts very welcomed.. thanks all.
