  1. I am buying a new graphics card. My current graphics card is an AMD RADEON HD 7520 which is decent but can't run more than 1 and a half hours on FSX. I am planning to buy a better GPU so when the PMDG 777-300 comes out I can FINALLY do long hauls. I want a graphics card that can last for more than 17 hours on ultra settings fsx but I dont want to spend to much on it. Will the GTX 660TI do the job or should I get a GTX 760? Still wondering... And what kind of GTX 660 or 760 should I get? TI? Superclocked? 2GB? Thanks, Andrej
  2. Hey everybody, I am ordering this computer tonight and I just wanted to know if it will run the PMDG Aircraft well (I am pretty sure it should and will). I am getting it from CyberPowerPC, total price 1501.00. Specs are below: Oh yeah, I currently own the following PMDG Products, and will buy the 777 when it is released (no pressure on that release Rob ) but I cannot use them because my laptop refuses to work with them and dies and crashes and does all sorts of bad stuff when I load them up. 737-600/700NGX 737-800/900NGX 747-400LCF 747-800X 747-400X J41 B1900D B1900C MD-11 Specs: *BASE_PRICE: [+1130] CAS: CFI Boreallight Full-Tower Gaming Case w/ 1x 140 & 2x 120mm Fans, Front USB 3.0, HDD Easy Swap Bays & Side-Panel Window (Black Color) CD: LG 12X Internal Blu-ray Drive & DVDRW, 3D Playback Combo Drive (BLACK COLOR) COOLANT: Standard Coolant CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K 3.50 GHz 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1150 (All Venom OC Certified) [+106] CS_FAN: Default case fans FAN: Corsair Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan [+16] (Dual Standard 120MM Fans (Push-Pull) [+9]) FREEBIE_CU1: FREE $50 VISA Gift Card with All Purchase [+0] FREEBIE_CU2: Intel GRID 2 Gaming Coupon [+0] FREEBIE_MB: 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo w/ Dual Antenna PCI-E Adapter [+0] FREEBIE_VC1: FREE $75 Value In-Game Hawken, Planetside 2 and World of Tanks w/ NVIDIA GTX 650 or above [+0] FREEBIE_VC2: None HDD: 2TB (2TBx1) SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Drive) HDD2: 500GB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD [+59] (Single Drive) HEADSET1: ZALMAN ZM-HPS200 GAMING HEADSET [+0] IUSB: Built-in USB 2.0 Ports KEYBOARD1: (Keyboard & Mouse Combo) Razer Cyclosa Gaming Keyboard & Abyssus Gaming Mouse [+0] MEMORY: 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (Corsair Vengeance [+0]) MOTHERBOARD: [CrossFireX/SLI] GIGABYTE Z87X-D3H Intel Z87 Chipset DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ Ultra Durable 5 Plus, On/Off Charge 2, 7.1 HD Audio, Intel GbLAN, 3x PCIe x16 (2 Gen3, 1 Gen2), 3 PCIe x1 & 1 PCI (Extreme OC Certified) [+40] NETWORK: Intel Pro Gigabit 10/100/1000 Network Card [+34] OS: None - FORMAT HARD DRIVE ONLY [-60] OVERCLOCK: Extreme OC (Extreme Overclock 20% or more) POWERSUPPLY: 600 Watts - Corsair CX600 600W 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply [+9] RUSH: NO; READY TO SHIP IN 5~10 BUSINESS DAYS SERVICE: STANDARD WARRANTY: 3-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY PLUS LIFE-TIME TECHNICAL SUPPORT SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 4GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card [+58] (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA) WNC: 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo w/ Dual Antenna PCI-E Adapter [+25] _PRICE: (+1426) I am getting an ASUS 27" Monitor, or a Samsung 27" Monitor, cant decide which, and Windows 7 Ultimate. 4. So after flying on FSX for the past few years, I've decided to update my tank of a laptop and invest in a new Desktop to run P3D. So far I've roughly built up these specs, trying to keep in mind that i don't want to spend to much and also get the best for the buck. Intel Core i7-4790K @4.0Ghz ASUS Z97-A EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 Corsair 750D Western Digital Blue 1 TB HDD Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 Mem. Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive Corsair H80i Hydro CPU cooler With these specs in mind I stumble to find a cheap Power supply that gives me at least 750W. I'd like to have everyone opinions on computer parts you recommend and what power supply would be best for me. Thanks you!
  5. Hi guys! I've bought and installed FSX in my computer in 2013 when my computer is still using Windows 8. Since then, the OS was upgraded to 8.1 and recently to Windows 10. However, FSX kept on crashing throughout these 2 years. Around 30 minutes after opening it, FSX suddenly does not respond and crashed. Below are my computer's specs: Computer Model: HP Pavilion 23 All-in-one PC Processor: Intel Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30 GHz Quad Core RAM: 8GB Graphics: NVIDEA GeForce 610 Disk Drive: Hitachi HDS721010CLA630 It's useless to buy a better processor because the processor in an all-in-one PC cannot be changed... Can I run FSX on my computer smoothly or shall I just by a better computer? Thank you for your generous help!
  6. Hi all, this is my first time posting, so sorry if I don't make everything super crystal clear. I just bought a custom gaming pc online for p3dv4.5. The specs are as followed CPU: Intel® Core™ Processor i7-9700KF 3.60GHZ 12MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1151 [w/o Integrated Graphic] (Coffee Lake) HDD: 1TB Intel® 660P SERIES PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD - Seq R/W: Up to 1800/1800 MB/s, Rnd R/W up to 150/220k (Single Drive) MEMORY: 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4/3000MHz Dual Channel Memory (ADATA XPG Z1) MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Prime Z390-P ATX w/ WiFi 802.11AC RGB, USB 3.1, 2 PCIe x16, 4 PCIe x1, 4 SATA3, 2 M.2 SATA/PCIe VIDEO: GeForce® RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 (Turing) [VR Ready] I've been a flight simmer for most of my life (since fsx days) but I've never had a chance to buy a good gaming pc. Im new to the whole High-end PC gaming components so im not sure what im doing haha. Im just worried that the specs I got won't be sufficiant to run everything I want ill have a 1080p monitor and all the add ons you could imagine. im hoping that I could run everything at high Do you guys think that these specs could handle p3dv4.5? If so what would my settings look like? Thanks, Sebastian
  7. Hello everyone, Currently I have an intel 4770K overclocked to 4.1 with a Nvidia GTX 750. When building this system, I was very concerned with budget, so I skimped on the GPU. I recently learned that this might cause a bottleneck in the system. My question is, how much better performance will I get with an upgraded gpu, and what is the most cost efficient price per performance gain card to get? (preferably another Nvidia card) Thanks in advance, 1251452
  8. Hi AVSIM members. Nu-be to this site. If posting in the wrong area please advise and I shall do my best to adjust. I have always wanted to build a flight simulator. Tried and failed. This will be my third attempt. Have all the parts required for a PC to run FSX, this will include a projection of the screen via a 5000 lumen unit onto a flexible curved screen. Have started the motion platform and have motors and control board ready to go 3 DOF motion. Anyway onto the problem I have, I dare say this topic has been discussed before so if anyone can suggest links then please do so. I Have two graphics cards ASUS NVidia GTX 790 linked via motherboard and connection link ribbon. NVidia drivers up to date and running NVidia inspector with a few tweaks. Card No1 in the PCI-E slot marked x16 on the MB as the main driver and the second card in the second PCI-E slot marked x2 on the MB as GPU support for the first card. Running NVidia inspector shows GPU card No1 at around 80% usage when flying over EGHH airport frame rate around 45-59 FPS. CPU is an intel I7 3.6 GHz overclocked to 3.9 GHz on air cooling at a temp of 94d. The second GPU card No2 via inspector shows it running at 0% usage. I know from reading forum posts that FSX runs better from faster CPUs and GPU not used so much. Question being am I using both graphics cards to display FSX in PhysX mode connected to a Matrox tripplehead2go via DVI cable to HDMI. or am I only running off one card. Also because one of the cards is in a PCIE slot marked x2 am I throttling card No1 to the lower slot speed. Even though the performance is good I wander if it could be improved. Thank you in advance IanMC
  9. This is a picture of my 4 month old EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked GPU. I have been very pleased with the performance of this card until... It quit working on Friday night. I had just departed from EGLL in a 738 NGX on a DOVER3 departure headed for EHAM when FSX locked up - I thought this was strange because this very rarely happens on my system. Once I was back onto my desktop Windows 7 displayed a message that read something like "The video drivers have crashed but have successfully recovered". Shortly after that message the display began to flash and become distorted until it went away all together. After manually rebooting I was able to use the display enough to see that the the GPU was no longer being recognized by any hardware monitor or Precision X - but the rest of my system checked ok. To isolate the GPU as the faulty component I removed it and installed a back up / tester GPU (Zotac Nvidia 8400 GS). The problem was resolved and the system back to normal operation. (besides not being able to fly with this underpowered GPU ) I contacted EVGA's customer support who immediately told me the GPU had failed. I then submitted a RMA, which was approved surprisingly quickly, and the GPU is now boxed and on its way to EVGA for warranty. My experience with EVGA's customer support has been nothing short of outstanding to this point. After doing some forum reading on EVGA's site I found this exact type of failure is becoming common with all EVGA versions of the GTX 660. Apparently this is a problem with early built model 660s (REV1.0), which is what mine is. I am not positive exactly what failed on the GPU or why but if you compare the EVGA 660 to other 660s like the Gigabyte or MSI you might find the answer. The cooling on the EVGA card is, well... embarrassing when compared to its counterpart's cooling. I have always been curious of my 660's operating temperature because it would run 65-75c while flying but I also read that was an ok temp for the GPU. Of course this is just my opinion but I would like to hear opinions and feedback from others. **I am posting this information only as a resource for current owners or anybody considering purchasing one of these GPUs.
  10. Hello all! I have for a long time been into flightsimming, but as I at the moment have a laptop, I can only fly default FSX with no addons :( So through the past year or so I have saved up for a upgrade and I finally have enough money  I was wondering if you could help me get the right parts? I already have put together a list of components, but I would very much like to hear your opinions  My budget is around 1600-1700 $ I plan on flying the FSL 320-X and the PMDG 777, maybe the NGX also, with a few addon airports, REX and no AI traffic. CPU = i5 3570K Cooler = Noctua NH-D14 Motherboard = ASRock Z77 Extreme3 GPU = MSI GeForce GTX 670 Power Edition OC - 2GB GDDR5 RAM = G.Skill 8GB DDR3 2133MHz (2x4)SNIPER CL9 Case = Corsair Carbide Series 500R PSU = Corsair TX 650W PSU OS = Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 HDD = Western Digital® Desktop Green 1TB I'm thinking of overclocking the CPU to about 4.5 GHz. Is that realistic? I also want to use the computer for other things than FSX, like Battlefield 3, Aerofly FS, F1 2012 but i believe that they will run nicely on a pc like this? And finally do X-Plane have different requirements than FSX? Thanks a lot in advance!
  11. Is there anyone else out there with a GTX 460? I've got the Zotac one running with 8gb ram and i5 2400. I get quite good performance (around 25 in dense areas). What sort of performance do you get? I'm upgrading to the i5 2500k soon and I'm getting a new graphics card (not sure which one yet) Is it even worth upgrading yet, or should I hold out a little longer? Thanks.
  12. Hello, I currently have an Asus CG5720 BP0003 running an amazing ( ) nVIDIA GeForce GT 220. Back when this was "newer" it was great! But with new addons(and seeing other videos being posted on youbtube) it is very outdated and in need of an upgrade. I was looking around and have my eyes set on a GeForce GTX 560 TI to replace my current 220. I have checked to make sure that it will work/fit into my current system, however I wanted to take a minute to see if anyone else had upgraded recently, and if so, to what? I am about a month away from buying one, so I would like to see what other people have, or if you have a 560ti, how do you like it? Thanks!
  13. Hello, I currently am running a A6-3670K APU with a Radeon 4850 HD GPU. I know that both of these components are outdated. I have many addons such as FTX Global, ASN, Aerosoft Airbus, PMDG 737, REX, and various airports. I am getting about 10 fps sitting on the ground at FSDreamTeam DFW. I am looking to upgrade my processor to an I5 and my GPU to a current card. What is the best value I5 that would run FSX smoothly? I don't need 80 fps, just trying to get it up to about 25-30. Thanks!
  14. Hi All! Happy New Year! Ok, Well my problem is that I am having extremely bad performance in FSX (For this Spec anyway!) My Computer ; i7 2600K @ 3.4GHz (Stock Speed) GTX 570 8GB RAM 1TB HDD Windows 7 64Bit So As you can see, My computer is pretty good and should be able to Run FSX with add-ons easily and I don't expect to install every add-on into FSX and for it to run smoothly, I just mean having good FPS (30+) with the PMDG 737NGX. Well, This is NOT the case. I have FSX installed, I installed the 737NGX And I get very poor FPS (20-25 MAX). This is only with the FSX settings On "High" Which Still, Shouldn't be a problem for an i7. So I thought, Ok, Well I can try some other things, So First off I tried bjotes FSX CFG tweak, A little bit better, Still not steady at 30 FPS. Then I tried an External FPS Limiter, Limited it to 30 FPS, And set FSX to Unlimited FPS, Again Better, Not steady at 30 FPS, Around the same 20-25 maximum. I also bought FSX Booster on my previous computer, So I thought I'd give that a go, But...Nope, Still unsatisfactory. Now In case you are wondering, This is NOT just with the PMDG 737NGX, This is with other add-on's too, PMDG MD11 Etc, Just not satisfying at all to be flying these aircraft at below 30 FPS with the settings on High on a computer that cost me 1k. Does anyone know what the problem is here? I have read about people getting great performance with FSX, i7 and a lower graphics card with the NGX, REX Installed etc. Help is Appreciated! Kriss
  15. I am looking to upgrade my computer more spending about $300 My current specs are: Dell Inspiron 620 Intel i5 at 3.2 GHZ 8 GB DDR3Ram 1TB HDD EVGA Nvidia GTX 750TI 2GB Should i consider looking at a new motherboard that can hold two graphics cards due to that i am looking at multi monitor setup, and what would be better nvidia surround, or would a triplehead2go still alow the use of the other ports on the graphics card, what would be worth upgrading? I have the following payware aircraft PMDG 737,777 Aerosoft Airbus X Extended And use the following weather addons REX4Texture Direct, and ASN I currently get 25-40 FPS
  16. I run FSX on my Win 7 x64 system which has an Intel I7-3770 (not OC) at 3.4 gh on an ASUS P8X77-V Deluxe MB. I have 8mb of system memory. My current video card is a GeForce GTX 560-Ti with 1 mb of graphics memory. Given the limitations of FSX would a GTX-770 or 780 with either 2mb or 4mb of memory improve my system with the heavy load of scenery like FTX and a/c like the PMDG-777? Would my VAS usage benefit from the new card? Thanks Dom
