I've been painting the iFly 737 Max for P3d for a bit...here are some random pics of them as they were being painted.... I've enjoyed painting her....If only the environment was better in P3D....I'd fly her as much as I do MSFS planes. Hopefully we'll get a MAX for MSFS in 2023. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all.

Hey Guys, I've been out of the loop for a while with Covid, very gradually getting better but its effects have hung on for a long time that's kept me out of the paint booth as well. I did manage to paint a few 600s and 700s before I got sick, and they are already available at the Flight1 Library here. There are also some 900s and freighters done by Ric (very good painter as well!) All the info about the expansion is here at their forum: http://ifly.flight1.net/forums/advanced-series-737ng-expansion-pack-released_topic20319&FID=13&PR=3.html As I slowly get better, I'm getting back in the paint booth for short stints (before I get fatigued). I've managed to get this 900ER almost done....and will upload her as soon as she's finished. (One of the beta testers is a pilot for Ukraine International, I pray he'll be okay through this current crisis) Its my plan to get better and gradually start painting this excellent aircraft again, providing a variety of paints for all the models now available. I just wish I could recruit more painters. 😞 Let me know if you guys decide to grab the expansion, and post some pics of flights you do with the many variants...I personally love the little 600, Taken SAS on a few short EU flights and Westjet from Ontario to Calgary....if ever a plane was considered "cute"...I'd nominate the 600 for that honor, LoL. FYI....I do plan on giving you guys a "JANET" so you can do those classified flights from KLAS to Groom Lake. 🙂

Next in my series of "How cool is PBR?" 😁, here you see another PBR metallic effect, this time on Virgin Australia's text. These are 3 shots in the same position, but 3 different times of day. Look how the appearance of the text changes (and the lady in the front) as the sun changes position. Looks so cool in the sim. While this livery is relatively "easy", with anything metal on the plane, you're painting on 1 albedo (normal) texture map, and a metallic map's 3 of 4 channels. One thing you learn (unless you like duplicating work a lot), is to have the base texture to its final version before working on the PBR effects, or you're doing the work on 4 different places every time, LoL. The finished effect is very cool though, and well worth the effort IMO.

Check the Flight1 Facebook page or their website for the official announcement. In the mean time, Steve has been painting a few in his "spare time" LoL. Disclaimer: All screens are pics of the Beta version, some items depicted may change before release (standard disclaimer 😉 ) I won't be able to devote as much time on this release as the base 800/900, but I'll paint what I can with the time I have...I have a LOT of paint projects all in progress right now. (I am not an official F1/iFly representative/employee, I was just engaged to provide some paints for the project) She is spectacular guys...and the 700 is my favorite of the bunch to fly. I have no info on a release date or other stuff...I just paint. 🙂 Look for official info at their website or Facebook page (or if they reply here)

P3dV4 Freight hauling in the Queen, iFly style
Steve Dra posted a topic in The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
I only painted a few iFly passenger 747s (most of which @P_7878 showcased in previous posts...thank you!) However... sadly, iFly's marketing methodology leaves many simmers on previous platforms oblivious to all the great planes they have for FSX and even FS2004!!! I'd love to paint for all platforms, but just painting for one is hard enough....LoL. I moved to P3D long ago...and have really painted exclusively in that sim ever since. Not even sure how many even know that iFly came out with a 747BCF model for P3d a while back and asked me to help paint a "few" liveries....hehe.....well...."few" is a relative term as you know...and when the smoke cleared...here are the "few" freighters I painted for their excellent model: When discussing how many default paints to include with the package, iFly mentioned that 3-4 should be enough and the painting community would pick up more after release. Between Brian Thibodeaux, Maxime Konareff and William Musculus, we managed to paint 20 of them before the beta team was finished testing and the final version was ready for release. 🙂 I hope one day everyone can make the hop to P3d (or maybe you're all waiting for FS2020....). either way...you have a lot of Freighters at your disposal if that ever happens. 😉 -
OK.. This is the weirdest thing. I was just looking through captured replays (with the freeware module fsrecorder) and I accidently chose the wrong type for the recorded flight (I had iFly B737-700 instead of -800) and I got an FS9 error message, which stated something about "aircraft initialization failure".. After this, NO iFly 737-800 are to be found in the aircraft list. They are all still there, in the FS9 Aircraft folder, and they are there if I try to edit liveries through the manager... What on earth has happened? And does anyone have a clue what to do? This morning I had a nice flight with a -800 and after this incident, *POFF* gone! (I should also say that I did fiddle around with the spoiler-spoileron ratio in the 800s .cfg, but I reloaded the sim several times during this and the 800s were there all the time. They disappeared after the fsrecorder event.) I have posted this at iFly forum, but I might aswell do it here aswell, as this seems to be non-aircraft related... Any help appreciated! EDIT: I´ve tried to rebuild FS9.cfg but no luck there either. The 800s are GONE. /Johan SOLVED I re-opened the affected aircraft´s .cfg... I had ACCIDENTLY typed an "s" in the very first line.. thus making it not show up.. Now I´ll go into a corner and spank myself. Bye. J

Rare for me as I hardly fly these days with all the paint projects recently.🤔 Anyway....most of my flying is paint inspection flights where I take my latest paint on a short hop and along the way, pan around her to check for issues. Since these flights are done almost exclusively in the day, a night flight is a welcomed treat (thank goodness we don't have to paint night textures anymore). When the flight ended (at an airport that should be easy to guess after the last 2 shots), I was panning around the plane and struck with how great night textures look compared to the "old days" 🤣 Love the reflections on the fuse, you see I have the wheel well light, the cockpit overhead, the cabin, and wing inspection lights all on (and the logo light of course). And look at the reflection of the gate lights on the tip of the nose! So adds to the immersion. 🙂 The beautiful moon glow reflection on the fuse by the L1 door and on the blue edge of the engine, and the hint of the wing inspection light on the very polished engine leading edge. 🙂 The logo light looks great (maybe a bit bright, but nice)...the astute will probably know the airport by this pic. Any doubt where my flight ended after viewing the shot below? Hehe

Just leased a 747-8 for my AH2 fleet, so it has a temporary Atlantic Bridge livery at the moment whilst I fly it around a bit and check it out on various routes to see if it works for my airline in terms of suitability, if it does, it'll get a more permanent paint job:

Just 2 pics I added enhanced skies to (with photoshop), to make the sky look nice. 🙂 I'm finished with this paint (I think)....hope the plane is released soon (I don't have a release date, and couldn't say if I did) 😉

Does anyone know where to find more iFly 747-8 liveries? I have found a very limited supply... Thanks!
