  1. Hi all, I've recently started flying the J41 again and did the tutorial flight to get back into things which went smoothly. I have made my own flows based on the tutorial but after I have started the engines and turned the avionics switches back on, the FMC remains off. When I turn it on, the route I have entered AND the cruise altitude figure entered on the VNAV Data page have disappeared. I can't work out what i'm doing wrong to cause this to happen? I am loading the tutorial saved flight and then re positioning the aircraft so that it is in a cold and dark state - is that something to do with it maybe? Thanks
  2. Hello! I'd like to report a problem that I've had when trying to activate the J41 on FSX-se on the past week and a possible solution that, although obvious once you start investigating, may not be so plain simple for everybody. Also, this is a suggestion of a topic to be added to PMDG Knowledge Base on the Support Portal, since this may be a recurrent problem. - Problem: I'm running a FSX-SE only install and was unable to activate the J41 because of a missing SimConnect version. I formatted my PC recently and this time I only installed FSX-SE on it. I had no problems so far using any of my addons, including most PMDG planes that I own, with exception of the J41. The activation screen simply didn't show up when initializing the aircraft. I tried selecting the aircraft from the FREE FLIGHT screen and after starting a default flight (which is unchanged from factory default), but none worked. In an initial investigation of the problem, I opened Windows Event Log. There were 17 repeated error events; Up to 5 logs had been generated per second. Basically, they contained a message saying that Windows failed to generate activation context for the PMDG_BAe_JS4100.dll and saying that SimConnect version 10.0.61242.0 could not be found. Indeed I did not have this version of SC installed for some reason. I searched the internet for the installer, downloaded (from a safe provider, of course) and installed the software, proceeding to activate the J41. And it finally worked. I thought it would be useful to report this, since other people may be having or may eventually have a similar problem.
  3. Hi all, Can someone give me an example of how you do VOR navigation on the J41? Typical example: I'm outbound on a VOR1 on a radial and I need to monitor VOR2 for crossing another radial and then turn to follow that radial. I'm interested in how you use the EHSI, EFIS Display Controller and/or the RMI. (In fact, the RMI is a complete mystery to me at this point.) I can see that the left and right dials on the EFIS Display Controller 'turn on' the circle and the diamond but I have no idea what it means. I can also see that I can flip back and forth between NAV1 and NAV2 display using V/L. But I have yet to figure out how it all interacts with the autopilot. The AOM is very thin on this. Any help is, as always, much appreciated. Gregg
  4. Hi all, Does anyone have some good (typical regional operations) for the J41 in Orbx regions PNW, NRM and PFJ? Also, I'm going to pick up CRM before the sale ends so any ideas in that region would be good too. Good ideas appreciated! Thanks, Glenn

I think this was my favorite flight in FSX ever. It was a low and fast ferry flight i did using FS Passengers from JAC to COD through the Washakie Wilderness area. I only used a sectional and my eyeballs to navigate and stayed as fast and as low as I could.
  7. Is there an engine ice command for the J41? I tried using the standard Anti-ice and Carb-Heat commands but 1) they behave differently (seem backwards too...dropping EGT when they're on,..raising it when they're off) and 2) they don't move the Elev/Engine icing switch.
  8. Just wondering if there was a patch for a J41 overspeed clacker. I've been caught by overspeed a few times...haven't heard any sound. It's in the AOM and with all the other warning sounds and voices, it seems like an important noise. I'm still pretty new to the J41, love flying it and I'll get better at watching it but it would be nice to know that a warning has my back.
  9. Hello everyone!!!! i recently bought the j41..After installation and use When i start a flight one error..((Error loadin GPS_ENGINE)) and i fell in the middle nowhere!!! somebody should see this error before to day??? am sorry for my english am french
  10. I am wondering, when is the JS41 coming out for fsx steam edition? The reason i ask is because on PMDG's website it says in february, was that february 2015/2016, or is it february 2017? I have been waiting so long for JS41 steam edition, i am literally everyday searching for "JS41 steam edition" in hope of finding a new status update on that plane. Yes i know that converting the 777 took more time than expected, and then the development on 747v2 got in the way, same with DC-6, but you've actually been saying in an update back in early 2015 that it just awaits testing, and then you've said this in march 2015: "Pending Updates for the J41: Beta testing the J41 has taken a back seat to the changes we needed to make to the NGX and 777, but will resume shortly. Unlike the NGX and 777, the J41 isn't getting a significant code update, so it is a much simpler test process for us- as it primarily is just an installation validation process. We hope to have that released to you soon as well!" [sOURCE] PMDG i know that "resume shortly" possibly means 2 years to your ears, and that you dont like giving a release date for anything, that's not what i am asking, isn't it possible for you soon to give us a status update on, maybe how the 2 year beta testing is going?? You know what i mean... I am tired of hightech 737 planes and triple-7s (not that i dont like them, they are absolutely great, i am just kinda missing something else to fly at the moment). Plus i read the 400 pages FCOM that you guys made (absolutely awesome FCOM btw.) just to find out that i couldn't play it on fsx steam edition xD. I hope you guys hear what i am saying, i simply want a status update, not a realease date, and i wouldn't care less if you say the same as you said in the other updates . However "primarily just an installation validation process" honestly doesn't sound like a whole lot of work (but what do i know ) Best regards: Tor Jakobsen

  14. SO today on IVAO i flew a nice route from EDDL to EDDM, THEN! At EDDM the weather turned out to be sh*t, and it started to rain, then this happened: https://gyazo.com/0f5045ac994a43f83071ae1be849d22d (dont asked why i parked the plane at the cargo area...) I had no idea that JS41 had windshield raindrop effects, and even it doesn't look very realistic, then its still better than nothing, and this plane just went far up my list of favorit planes .
  15. So I was up, goofing around on the J41, setting buttons and all, just generally trying to stay away from mountains while I tuned settings. Well, at some point, I decided it was time to head home. I was at 4500 and I tuned a VOR near the airport but, alas, I'm too low to pick up a decent signal and there's low mountains near it so, what to do... So, I clicked on the FMC. It told me I was at some bogus airport, probably nearby, but who cares...I click ENTER three times and then select D-> and that takes me to a Direct screen with a blank field. I select it by clicking the nearby button and get the ****. I type my airport ID and press ENTER twice. Poof...It points the way. I click LNAV and Full Map on the EHSI controller and then click Nav and the autopilot is taking me home. Truthfully, it seems a little flaky. Sometimes you have to try a couple of times to get it to take an entry. Also, found out that if you click and hold down the ON button it shuts the FMC off. This stuff may be in the AOM but I haven't gotten that far yet :). Just thought some folks might find it useful and, if you can help iron out the precise set of buttons to click that would be great. Any other cool tricks you know?
  16. Hi all, I've been trying to figure out how to program a button for the Go Around button. Can't seem to figure it out. Anybody have a successful way of doing that using FSUIPC? Thanks, Gregg
  17. Hello, Whilst getting re-acquainted with the J41 I've been going through the cockpit along with the Introduction manual, learning a few little tricks and lesser-known or lesser-used features along the way. I must have read it all once before but I've slept a few times since then. Anyway, with the Davtron Chronometer (page 24 of the intro manual), I seem to have found a bug when setting the ET count-down timer. Steps to reproduce: Click SEL until in the ET count-up mode. Right-click the CTL button to switch to programming the count-down mode. Enter the desired time using the SEL button to step through the digits and CTL button to increment each digit. Finish setting the count-down time using SEL after the last digit. Observe how the digits are swapped for the selected number of seconds. As an example, if you set a countdown of 1 second (00:01) it will switch to 00:10 (10 seconds) after you finish the entry. If you set it to countdown from 12:34, it will swap to 12:43. Possibly an already-known bug, but I didn't find it with a search of this forum. Small one to fix for whenever the J41 gets some love for FSX:SE & P3D. That's not a hint! Or it might be  (I'm still on FSX until I next reinstall Windows 10, so I'm OK for the time-being.) Many thanks, Martyn
  18. Sometimes when I load the J41 I can only move one throttle at a time. If I push the left handle forward (either with the mouse or with my yoke then the right won't go forward. If I push the right handle forward, the left won't go forward. FSUIPC says all is well. None of my other aircraft are having any problem. Anybody else have this problem and find a solution? Thanks.
  19. I've been fighting with crashes at the new KMEM if someone could roll there PMDG J4100 from there and let me know what happens. I had a g2d.dll and PMDG_BAe_JS4100.dll log file, I preplaced the g2d.dll with a backup and reloaded the gauge file with no luck ... Thanks..
