    Lockheed Releases Video of Prepar3D

Lockheed Martin today sent us some news regarding Prepar3d and a video they just released. Here is what they had to say about the video; "Prepar3D® simulation software presents a virtual world that spans from the ocean depths to suborbital space. See how Prepar3D can be used for immersive, experiential learning in this trailer. Since launching the software in 2010 as an evolution of Microsoft ESP technology for professional training and academic learning, Lockheed Martin has expanded ground and maritime settings, added camera sensors and enhanced its multi-player capability for distributed training exercises. Details about Prepar3D are at www.prepar3d.com." .

    Lockheed P3D and EULA's for Add-On's

With the continuing advancement of P3D by Lockheed Martin, more flight simulation enthusiasts are experimenting with, if not adopting entirely, this flight simulator. However, there is considerable confusion over which third party products currently available can be used, without violating your EULA or other restrictions, within P3D. Questions such as: Does my existing End User License Agreement (EULA) allow me to use my add-on in P3D? If not, do I need to purchase another license to install it in P3D? Assuming my EULA allows me to, will my current product work in P3D? And there are many more. We recently have had some incidents within the forums that arose from lack of knowledge concerning products, EULA's and use within the P3D simulator. As a result, we have undertaken a survey of commercial providers about their EULA's and products for P3D. You can find the beginnnings of this here: http://forum.avsim.n...Pages/p3d_.html

UPDATE: John Nicol to Depart Lockheed

EDIT: I have edited this to reflect a more balanced look at John's departure and the role of the larger Prepar3D team after a discussion this morning with another member from the Prepare3D team. TA John Nicol, the very public face behind Lockheed's Prepar3D flight simulator, is leaving Lockheed effective tomorrow. John informed us today that his two year contract with Lockheed concludes tomorrow and that he is off to take a short break before moving on to other projects, including his participation in the MAKERPLANE organization. John tells us that Martile Allen will be taking over his responsibilities. For those that do not know, John was part of a larger team getting Prepar3D from a Lockheed internal product, available to large scale defense customers, to that of a more "commercial" offering. By "commercial" we mean academics, flight schools, etc. We do NOT mean off-the-shelf products found in Best Buy and similar. John was also a participant in altering the pricing strategy leading to that "commercial" product. Questions will natually arise as to the future of Prepar3D within the flight simulation community. Does the loss of the evangelism and support for a more commercial product that John brought to the project mean a different Lockheed approach? Is there patience in the upper management of Lockheed to continue with a mainstream product? We'll be looking into those questions and more. AVSIM will be providing an interview with Lockheed Prepar3D team management in the coming week or two, addressing the questions we have regarding the future of the product and their outlook for it's success.
  4. Hi all, I've just downloaded the FS KBT L-188 Electra for FSX because I want to try out a few old props/turbo-props, and I have to say, despite the panel being a bit dated/an acquired taste, it isn't bad, and considering there are no payware L-188 offerings I'm aware of, it's probably the best too. ^_^ I like to do a bit of tweaking every time I get a new plane to the hangar, and since I am now a bit more of a serious simmer, like to have check-lists too. I've had a hunt for some check-lists and surprisingly found nothing, apart from this: http://buffaloairway...raft-Checklists , which is, of course, a dead link! -_- Additionally, although as of yet I haven't had the chance to test it properly, I notice there is no beacon light on it. Is this accurate? Off the top of my head there is a panel switch for the beacon... correct me if I'm wrong. But if I am is that accurate? I know not many people seem to have the Electra - seems to have suffered the same fate as in real life  but it'd be great to get any kind of feed back on this. If you haven't at least tried it, and like turbo's of that era (of which there aren't many), then do! Many thanks in advance.
