  2. As we all know, London is a performance intensive location in FSX, even with a high-end system. I'm wondering if anyone with a high-end system has managed to run it smoothly and stable at max settings with addons and AI. I'm running a i7-4770K @ 4.5GHz, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 780 FSX is in DX10 preview mode with Steve's DX10 fix, Max display settings @ 1920x1200, (except: water settings set to Low 2.x, Ground Scenery shadows off), HIGHMEMFIX=1 tweak applied ORBX FTX England UK2000 Heathrow Xtreme set to High detail VFR London Scenery (No photoscenery, just buildings) <this doesn't eat up that many frames, my system handles it well Ultimate Traffic 2 set to 70% I mostly fly the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended A320 I get 20-50 frames without running UT2 AI traffic and it goes down to 8-25 frames with AI traffic in the region. Without getting too obsessed with the frame counter, FSX runs smoothly (15-30 frames) whilst descending into London, passing over the suburbs and into the city, but on final approach, it would drop to 8-15 frames. Whilst I'm okay with landing at 10 frames in this FSX setup, I was wondering if I could get more out of my system. Okay, I can reduce the level of AI which would certainly improve performance, but I'm not that keen on making Heathrow look empty.

  4. Hi fellow simmers  I am new to forums so don't really know if i am posting this in the correct place or not so please let me know. I'm wondering if any of you can help me in finding out what kind of graphics card/hardware i need in order to achieve a really good realistic flight simulator... I've been looking online recently and have seen that people have got extremely good graphics even when at mega airports I struggle at the moment to get good FPS when at LHR (EGLL) even when my setting are extremely low. I have updated my PC over the past couple of years but it still isn't great, what do you guys think i should look at purchasing next? My current specs are: Ram: 4.00GB AMD FX -4100 Quad Core Processor 3.60GHz 64 Bit Operating System NVIDIA GeForce GT640 Any ideas on what i can change so that i can get ultra realism? p.s im kinda looking for this kind of level: thanks for the help in advance !!
  5. Hey guys Another flight this weekend. This time, I took the Captain Sim 767 for a 3-hour flight between EGLL and LEMD. Hope you like them! Everything set for pushback And backwards we go Taxi to Runway 27L Allá vamos, Madrid! Climbing to FL360 TRAFFIC ALERT! 6. My first attempt to fly from EGLC to LOWI yesterday was unfortunately cut shot on final approach by a bug with the MSFS Pause Button aka Game Freeze function, as I pressed that the aircraft literally fell out of the sky, just spiraled to the ground. I've always had an affinity towards the larger business jets, so I decided to give that route another try today with the Cessna Citation Longitude. The aircraft is far from hardcore, some would argue it isn't even up to the very basic "Carenado" standards, yet it is certainly stunning visually both externally and in the VC, plus it is actually quite functional and easy to get "flight ready" from cold & dark. Cold & dark at EGLC, the weather was certainly much better yesterday here in London! Unfortunately again no push-back service, I hope this bug gets fixed. There was really absolutely not enough space to turn, I decided my best option was to use reverse thrust to exit the parking position. As they say in German, Not macht erfinderisch! Imagine someone had shown you this image 30 years ago, when the first flight simulators were available, and told you that sometime in the future we will be able to enjoy such imagery on a PC! A RWY 09 departure today, straight out east over the Thames! The clouds certainly look interesting, the lighting is very impressive. Climbing out towards the UK coast, the flight plan has the route set for FL 410. The weather over the Channel was pretty murky, there was nothing eventful enroute, just a permanent cloud cover below most of the time. Arriving over the Alps, the weather seemed a lot better than yesterday. Heading towards the RTT VOR at FL 130. The very buggy ATC kept asking me to descend to 9500 ft, that would have been guaranteed CFIT. Very close to Innsbruck now, the weather again being grey and murky in patches. There is a lot of room to improve the overall mesh, nevertheless the Alps are certainly stunning! Close to the RTT VOR turning point now. Turning south and then west to intercept the Innsbruck localizer. This is going to be a visual approach, autopilot off, flaps and gear down. The hand flown approach was much smoother than I expected, the aircraft handled very well and was not too twitchy. The wind kept pushing me to the left, trying to correct and stay on the glideslope. Welcome to Innsbruck, touchdown right on the centre line, the reverse thrusters doing their job to slow the Cessna down. The sloped runway is subtle and so much more realistic than the standard fully level runways we've had for so many years in FSX and P3D. Quite mind-blowing that the grass in a flight simulator can look that good!
  7. Hi Guys, hope one of you can help me out with this. I'm looking at getting the FTX England, but I want to know if the London Heliport is included in the package? Can anyone confirm or deny this and post some screenshots? It's EGLW. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  8. Welcome! This thread will be used to post rolling updates from the organisers of Connexion 2017, the global convention of VATSIM taking place in late July in London, UK. If you have a question please start a thread in this forum and one of the organisers will get back to you ASAP. Alternatively there is a VATSIM thread being used for discussion here also. 9. Has anyone here been able to keep a consistent 60+FPS while flying over London with maxed out settings? I've noticed that Flight School still uses CPU Core #1 to render buildings and traffic, so I don't think this would be possible unless you have a ridiculous clock speed. I only get around 30FPS with my i5-3570K 4.5GHz.
  10. I decided to take take the Citation Longitude on my first flight on a route from EGLC to LOWI. The overall weather in London was calm and sunny this morning, with a few scattered clouds about. With the wind coming from the west, take-off was going to be from RWY 27 towards Tower Bridge. Getting ready for departure, for some reason there was no pushback available through the ATC menu, though clearly the pushback service was lurking about. Climbing towards FL 410 with London and the Thames river in the background. Crossing the channel towards France. The reflective detail on the water looks superb and quite realistic. The UK mainland in the far distance now. Interesting how the clouds along the flight path were changing enroute, little did I know what was going to be lying ahead cloud-wise. Starting the descent with the Alps now in the far distance in front, the weather ahead has certainly taken a turn for the worse! Heading towards the RTT VOR the Cessna was skimming in and out of the clouds. T Turning south at the RTT VOR, the clouds all around are just amazing! Turning west and getting ready to line up with the approach path into LOWI.

  12. The following are shots from my FSX setup. Resolution has been lost somewhat sadly in the sceenshots... I am an internal member and beta tester at AIG (Alpha India Group) and FAIB (A32X Series, 737 Series, 747 in development). What you see here is a professional carefully built AI setup with material from AIG and its associated painters work. I use ORBX FTX England, Simwings Heathrow 2014 Xtended (ADE tweaked to my liking), REX Direct and ORBX BOB. This entire AI setup is self built with the latest flightplans and liveries. I do not use any AI programs like WOAI or Ultimate Traffic. I do not endorse Ice Traffic.

  14. Hi, A few from the field from at Myrtle Avenue on Saturday afternoon, weather was decent for the most part but the sun did a disappearing act on a couple of annoying occasions! 15. I'm ready to buy some new scenery for the London area, including the city itself as well as the major regional airports. Which scenery add-ons, as single products or in combination, would you recommend for best visual detail? Between performance and visuals, I would rather sacrifice performance for better views. That the objects appear to be 3-dimensional is also important, as I want to be impressed by the views while flying at low altitudes, not just flying by high above all the interesting sights. Some of the choices I've been considering are Orbx England EU, Aerosoft VFR London X and City Airport, Aerosoft Mega Airport London-Heathrow X, UK2000 Heathrow Extreme and London City Extreme. (If this question has been recently discussed elsewhere, please point me to the appropriate thread(s).)

  17. Powering out on a dawn departure. Gotta love those reheats in this light! Thundering off 27L on a chilly morning. Passing the moon on our way to Mach 2. Accelerating through Mach 1.4 here and climbing fast. Almost at the Mach 1.7 cutoff. Getting darker since we're heading westbound and traveling faster than the earth rotates. Concorde makes the sun go down again, so these passengers will get two sunrises in one day. Pretty awesome, really. It'll be pitch black when we land in Barbados, arriving earlier than when we left London.
  18. Hey guys The next destination on this trip around the world (hopefully) will take us from Faroe Islands' to London City airport. I took the liberty to try out the Flight 1 Cessna Citation Mustang. Lovely plane this! So, off we go. Waiting for the last VIPs Taxi to Runway 31. 19. Looking at the weather report last night, I read that there was rather stormy weather forecast for part of the UK, and so I thought, why not take a quick hop from Leeds to London in the morning. And so here we are with the sleek looking TBM 930 parked at the Leeds Airport Multiflight hangar, the weather is much better than I expected! Winds are from the east, holding short of the active runway to taxi out for a RWY 14 departure. What's particularly interesting here is the very noticeable slope of the runway, this really adds so much to the overall look and feel of being immersed in a true to life environment. The slope from the perspective of RWY 32 with the TBM 930 right at the end, ready for takeoff. And we're off, climbing out towards FL 210 for this short hop to EGLC. The city of Bradford below, the large white structure above the wing on the port side is a Marks & Spencer distribution centre. The 50 knot headwind is almost directly on the nose of the aircraft. If you were stuck back in the luggage compartment, this would be the view towards the cockpit. 😉 High above East Midlands Airport (EGNX). Always good to have company, even on a short flight like this. Sywell Aerodrome visible just in front of the starboard wing. Cruising at FL 210 and passing Bedford Aerodrome now. The city of Bedford with Bedford Aerodrome in the distance. Never thought I would see so many recognizable sights, the circular area is the Milbrook Vehicle Proving Ground. Flying east of Luton Airport, the weather still seems very good! That is Welwyn Garden City with the Panshanger Golf Complex almost directly below us now. The London skyline is now clearly visible, we are flying right above Banbury Reservoir, with Lockwood Reservoir, Low Maynard Reservoir, High Maynard Reservoir, Walthamstow Reservoirs and a bunch of other reservoirs visible off the nose. Crossing over London City Airport now with the famous Thames Barrier very well depicted, a landmark that can't be missed! ATC cleared me for a RWY 27 visual approach, just before a bad weather front arrived. As I turned off the engine at the GA parking the sky became all dark and gloomy with rain starting. I hope you enjoyed this short pictorial of my flight this morning in the lovely TBM 930 from Leeds to London! Cheers, Jerome
