  1. My first attempt at a blog. I had much to talk about so the video runs in two parts at a total time of about 2 hours. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB4J9s0z_lU My second flight blog talking about the joys of MegaSceneryEarth and a rant about the cursor bug. Run-time about 60 minutes. Of note in these videos is that there are no tricks or gimmicks used to trick the viewer into believing frame rates are something other than what they really are. This was filmed exclusively with FRAPS running and nothing else. There is no video time compression tricks and on FS Recorder post render video. This is raw live FSX at it's best. Enjoy!
  2. I have seen a few threads on a few other boards about Ultimate Terrain X and MegaSceneryEarth working together. Does anyone have any example photos of what this looks like? The general response is that yes, you can use both at the same time, but you have to order them right and you will lose a lot of features of UTX but get the night lighting system of UTX. Is that the extent of the compatibility? Maybe PC Avivator can shed some final light on this. I really want to be able to enhance night flying with MSE products since they have very limited night light texture support. Anyone have some screen caps to show off these two products working in tandum?
  3. I finally purchased the State of Texas (yes, the whole package) from MegaSceneryEarth and got it downloaded yesterday. I hemmed and hawed for a long time but decided it was time to get it. This has got to be the largest download and installation of an FSX product ever! There are 103 files for the complete package consisting of 106GB's and it took me about 4 hours to download all of them. Then I had to extract the setup program from each file (that took about another 2 hours) and run each setup program.... 103 times! Yet, I'm extremely happy with the product and it may be one of the best ones produced so far. I flew a couple of flights today from Houston IAH to Oklahoma City's Will Rogers International Airport (yes I own MSE Oklahoma too) and the realism was unbelievable. Flying near Oklahoma City I could see the red rusty dirt prevalent in the area. I just cannot see ever flying over FSX default scenery ever again. I was just wondering if anyone else has bought the whole package and if they encountered any installation issues. So far I see no anomalies in the photoscenery but the State is big so may never see any. I also got Iowa and hoping to see my birth state, Kansas soon before the FanCon. Best regards, Jim
  4. I found several anomalies centered around the Potomac River glide path to RW 01 at KDCA and want to make sure some other scenery or an installation problem didn't cause these issues. First of all, I have default scenery showing through at the Maryland side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (see photo) I have two Woodrow Wilson bridges. The new one on the right and the fsx default on the left. If this is what everyone else has who owns Maryland/Virginia MSE V2, then is there a way to eliminate the default bridge? Here's a view of the scenery on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson bridge. Appears to be duplicate scenery superimposed over each other and slightly askew. Here's an actual aircraft coming in for a landing that was taken when the MSE photo was made. Is this really in the MSE Virginia/Maryland scenery? Lastly, I was able to land on the Potomac River. Is this what everyone else is seeing? I thought major water bodies were water-masked so you could land just like in the default. I also have TropicalSim's KDCAX installed. However, I have disabled this scenery and the problems still exist. I disabled MSE Virginia and the problems on the Maryland side still exist. I disabled Maryland and the problems on the Virginia side still exist. I changed layering in the Scenery Library by placing Maryland on top of Virginia and vice-versa with no success in fixing these anomalies. If they are actual anomalies, I hope MegaSceneryEarth will issue a fix sometime in the near future. I can't believe no one else has seen and reported these issues. It is clearly possible my installations of Maryland and Virginia went awry and I missed a setup and I'm hoping this is the case. Since it takes a long time to reinstall these sceneries, I thought I would ask here first. Thanks for any assistance. Best regards, Jim
  5. I am a little confused about something. I own 80% of the states and I picked up DFW Ultra Res since that is my home town but I noticed on PC Aviator in the information sections that both products are sampled from 50CM resolution. So if the state is 50CM and the Ultra Res is 50CM why would I get the city products if I already own the state? Is it a different kind of 50cm? Don't get me wrong, I am impressed with the DFW city. I believe it is sharper at lower altitudes than the NE Texas State scenery I just want some clarification before I drop a bunch more money on more Ultra Res city products. Can someone from PC Aviator or MSE chime in on what advantages the 50cm Ultra Res cities have over the 50cm state products? Thanks! Keep up the great work!

  7. Hello everyone, As this is my first post on Avsim, please let me introduce myself. My name is Charlie and I’m located in Denver, CO. I’ve been a simmer since MSFS 5.1 (circa 1995 – Avsim was called “Avsim Magazine” at the time). While focused on MSFS versions, I’ve flown just about every flight simulation program over the years (e.g., Flight Unlimited, ProPilot, Fly!, and X-Plane). Until recently, I’d settled on P3D. Following the Avsim review of AeroFly FS 2, I decided to buy it and haven’t been disappointed. But I digress… AeroFly is my first experience with photo-real scenery. I was so impressed that I thought it might be worthwhile to give it a shot in P3D with my home state of Colorado from MSE. Most of the areas I’ve flown, VFR around the Denver metro area and a bit of cross-country – KAPA to KASE, all suffer from the display of a mix of MSE and default textures. In many cases, I see the MSE textures displayed and then suddenly “replaced” by the default textures. I went as far as reinstalling P3D from scratch followed by installing MSE to no avail. (And yes, MSE is the highest priority in the scenery library.) After two emails to support@megasceneryearth.com, they finally replied stating they believed FreeMeshX was the problem. (I had included a screenshot of my scenery library and scenery settings along with shots demonstrating the problem.) Although skeptical as FreeMeshX doesn’t cover the continental US and not sure how underlying mesh could affect texture priority, I disabled FreeMeshX and, as I expected, it had no effect. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a solution? Thanks very much, -Charlie
  8. I just purchased Ultra-Res Cities MegaSceneryEarth New York City and the Northeast bundle. In general this scenery is OK for Photoreal but that's all I'll give it... it's just OK. I was very disappointed to with Ultra-Res Cities MegaSceneryEarth New York City. This scenery is very, very, very OUT OF DATE! A few examples... it's 2016 and Shea Stadium has been gone for SEVEN YEARS! Where is Citi Field??? As for Manhattan, it has NOTHING TO DO with TODAY's (2016) reality. I think MegaSceneryEarth.Com should be up front as to what year the images used to create the scenery is from. I'm upset with the above but I want to give credit where credit is deserved... Although the Northeast Scenery bundle has very inconsistent colors from state to state the mountains of northern New Hampshire are very realistic. What do you think?
  9. Hello, I am a pilot student flying out of Van Nuys (KVNY) and Camrillo (KCMA). I bought this software for FSX thinking it would be a good tool to practice since I was thinking by flying VFR, it is important to recognize highways etc... But I am very disappointed. My PC is recent i7 with 16Gb of RAM. Two EGVA GTX 670. Three monitors 1920x1080. SSD with plenty of space available. I usually fly from 1000 to 3000 ft. No matter what setup I did, the scenery is flat and boring and pretty ugly. And also the Hollywood sign is missing! And the Griffith Observatory is sooooooooooooooo flat that it looks like a pancake after a sumo sat on it LOL. Anyway tonight I just purchased Aerosoft US Cities X: Los Angeles and wow. Although it is not totally accurate but at least major highways are shown - compared to MSE 2.0 highways are so flat that I can't recognize them. And the Hollywood sign is THERE!!!!!!! I am waiting for their ultra cities: Los Angeles. And this will be my last purchase from this company if the latest software is a flop. Anyone has better chance than me using MSE 2.0 California - low altitude?
  10. Texas, my home state, out near El Paso using MegaSceneryEarth v2.0 West Texas add-on and FS Global Ultimate North American terrain mesh. Mesh and Texture detail set to max in FSX. Spiced up with Shade and SweetFX 1.5 with custom INI, spread across a triple monitor setup @ 5760 x 1080, 30 FPS locked, no stutters.
  11. I have been consistently receiving CTD (fsx.exe APPCRASH) when running MegasceneryEarth 2.0 over the states of CO, UT, NE. I have not had issues previously with MI, FL, NY. For example: I am able to load up and take off from Denver without issue. But as soon as I pass west of Denver, then CTD. It will also CTD when I try to load a flight @ Aspen (KASE). For Utah, as soon as I approach Bryce Canyon, then CTD. In all cases, if I disable the scenery area from the library, all is fine. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am also running UTX USA and FS Global Ultimate - The Americas. PC Specs Windows 7 64-bit CPU= Intel Core i7-3770k RAM = 8GB GPU = GeForce GTX 660 Below is the AppCrash Data. I did notice the module was different each time it crashed. 12. I'm getting oil storage tanks overlapping with water towers in P3Dv5.3: https://mega.nz/file/FdpXxQSB#tJ9g8zvPEcYdrduuzenrQ71mY3klnARImD-tNEGhhpc My guess is that either P3D or Orbx doesn't know the difference between a storage tank and a water tower and uses the same 3D object for both, while Nuvecta does know where the water towers should go and draws them in the same location. Is there a way to tell P3D to not use or associate storage tanks with water tower locations, remove the file(s), etc -- in other words, remove them so the Nuvecta proper water towers can be drawn instead?
  13. Airports have been photo aligned for Texas, Florida, Hawaii and Louisiana and posted in the Avsim library. If you are a photo real user and have installed these airports, please report any issues or missed airports to the email address in the readme file. Designers, please note the simplicity of the concept and help with other areas. A sample of these aligned airports are posted on Youtube at ( ). Thanks for your interest and feedback.
  14. Hello guys, I bought MegaSceneryEarth Memphis. I want to install it with the manager but I can't because it doesn't detects any simulator... How can I solve it? Thanks! Loïc

  17. Wanted to share some more MegaSceneryEarth shots this time from Ohio....I hope to show the good and the not so good in all my screenshots I love the MSE series but it does come with its annoyances, at least for me...Then again even GTX and UTX has things that annoy me as well...Its not the fault of PC Aviator by no means...Anyway lets see some cool screenshots. This one is over Youngstown looking north...to the right you can see Pennsylvania MSE 2.0... color differences are obvious but I kind of like that I can distinguish between the state borders so its not a big deal... Here is Toledo heading east with the default Michigan to the North and lake Eire off in the distant...not a bad shot here. Toledo is one of the better areas in MSE Ohio. Flying west in north east Ohio you can see the Perry Nuclear Power Plant which feeds North East Ohio and Cleveland... A shot from central Ohio showing that the colors don't always mesh well...many reasons for this can be attributed to the time of day the photo was taken to different time of the year, different cameras etc... Flying east over home town of Ashtabula.... Pennsylvania is in the distance... Flying over Cincinnati and the Ohio river.... Hopkins International Airport in Cleveland.... Flying over Burke Lake Airport in Cleveland... Over Columbus with downtown in the upper left. Last one here flying across the Ohio river from Parkersburg WV into Marietta and I77....
