  1. Hello, I just upgraded from FSX to P3D v4.1 with a dual monitor setup. In FSX I use the second monitor for PFD or FMC by just dragging it to it. In P3D v4 I'm unable to do that. It looks like my 2nd monitor is not going into fullscreen so I can only drag panels to it by undocking them first, then drag that window to 2nd monitor and dock it again to loose window borders. Is this normal for P3D? Can't it use the 2nd monitor just like in FSX ? Thanks, BiTRiP
  2. Haven't seen a post on it so I thought I'd let you all know. http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/99196/en-us
  3. Hi guys, I recently tried to get my VRinsight equipment up and running again. Unfortunately the CDU II is not displaying (the screen) anything, not windows or FSX in the sim. The odd thing is, the VRsim program (that connects the hardware to the sim) shows the CDU II as a usable device and I tested the CDU II with the NGX and the buttons on the physical CDU hardware, interface fine and work with the FMC display in game, so I know that the keyboard/USB portion of the CDU II is still functioning. Whats left is the display is black, as in the monitor won't show any video. So I have tried a few things: I thought maybe the VGA cable was the issue, so I borrowed a friends VGA cable, no luck. I thought the graphics card was the issue, updated all the drivers, rolled back. no luck With my main monitor, I took out the DVI cable, and connected the main monitor (an HP) to my GPU with the same VGA cable. Monitor worked fine with the VGA cable, so the cable is good. Tried to connect the CDU VGA cable to the DVI input in my GPU (with the VGA-DVI converter) and no luck. The CDU's power cable: I have tested it with my VRinsight MCP, and the power cable provided power to the MCP panel. Power cable is fine. (the CDU and MCP cables have the same voltage) Also, the CDU II is recognized as an "analog" display. The computer recognizes the monitor, but for some reason no video shows on the physical CDU II screen. I had this working last year, and installed it the same way this time, and followed the VRinsight CDU II manual to the letter. No luck. I should add: This CDU worked 100% on my previous graphics card, my GTX 560, last year. I recently downgraded to a GT 730 (560 fried), so I am not sure how that would affect the video portion of it. Switched to windows 10 a few weeks ago. The CDU worked great on windows 7. Also not sure what affect that would have. All other PC hardware from last year to now = no change. My biggest fear is that the monitor/screen on the CDU II is somehow broken. Sorry for the long post, and thanks to anyone who can provide any input of some kind. I really do appreciate it. Kind Regards Chris Kennedy
  4. Hope someone can help me out. I'm running FSX with SP2 on a Windows 7 machine with five monitors configured as follows: GTX 660 graphics card monitor 1 dvi 1920x1080x32 monitor 2 dvi 1920x1080x32 monitor 3 vga/dvi 1920x1080x32 GT 520 graphics card monitor 4 vga 1024x768x32 monitor 5 hdmi 1920x1080x32 My problem is any time I undock a window and move it to monitor 4 FSX crashes to the desktop. I can move undocked windows to any of the other monitors just fine. I can also move an undocked window to monitor 4 in P3D and it works. In FSX if I try to go full screen with ALT-Enter I get a crash to desktop. Monitor 4 is set to 1024x768x32 in Windows resolution and in FSX settings. My fsx.cfg has the following entries for displays: [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 .0] Mode=1920x1080x32 TriLinear=1 [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 .1] Mode=1920x1080x32 TriLinear=1 [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 .2] Mode=1920x1080x32 TriLinear=1 [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 .3] Mode=1920x1080x32 [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 .4] Mode=1024x768x32 I've tried changing the fsx.cfg for the GT 520 to different settings with no luck. I also deleted the fsx.cfg and let a new one be created but it also crashes with the new fsx.cfg. I would sure appreciate any ideas and/or help on how to fix this. I want to use monitor 4 for my instrument gauges. Thanks in advance. Mike
  5. First, my system: i7 3770K @ 3.50Ghz (stock) 16GB RAM 256 SSD Corsair 1TB Seagate 7200 EVGA 670 FTW 2GB (All 4 monitors connected to it) Monitors: 3 x Acer G235H (23.5") 1 x Acer X162W (16") Equipment: Saitek Everything (Yoke, Pedals, TPM, Radios, Panel, Throttle, Switches, BIP) using SPAD Add-Ons: REX 4 Issue: I recently switched from FSX to P3D. So far I love it. Graphics are way better, better optimization of resources in new systems, my FPS don't drop from 30-35 and compared to FSX it shows how well optimized the game is in comparisson and I know they will introduce to even more optimizations (better SLI, Xfire, multi-cores, etc) Now, I've been struggling with my multi-monitor configuration. I used to run Surround for the three large screens (5760x1080) and then extend the little screen and FSX would allow me to create a new view and drag it to the small screen. In that way, I would use the three screens for scenery only and the little screen for instruments. It worked beautifully. Now with Prepa3d I can't get it to work that way. P3D won't let me drag a new window to the smaller screen in either full screen mode nor windowed. I tried with and without surround also. I'm building a Panel for a C172 and I really want to use my 4th 16" screen instead of the saitek gages or an iPad tablet to display gages as I already have the perfect small screen to be in the panel. Anyone knows what's the best way to do this 3 + 1 setup? I wouldn't mind buying a second 670 if I need to but I need/want to make this work. Right now all my screen are happily connected to my 670 and I have no problems running it that way. The card seems to support the monitors quite well The 670 runs pretty much flawlessly with P3D
  6. Who can help me out? I did use a lot of different tweaks (including Vsync) but still got these ugly lines when I'am using two monitors. System: i7 2700k Nvidea GTX760
  7. Hello avsim community! So my question is, can I connect my Lenovo Y500 (specs on profile) to 2/3 monitors. I put the slash because it depends on what I can do. If 3 monitors that's great, if not then 2 monitors. I mainly want it for 3 Monitor FSX flying. The thing is I only have an HDMI, VGA, and 2 3.0 USB ports. If possible, no more than $100. I know about triplehead2go but its pricey. If I could somehow work with out it GREAT if not, that's life and I will buy it (if it works). Thanks in advance and hope to hear some answers!
  8. Hi, quick question as i my self have no idea if this effects fsx in anyway but id like to know, does the size of your monitor make a diffrance ? how would they compare if someone was running a 32" and someone else a 37" this is a single screen set up at the min am looking for ways to get the best from fsx
  9. I didn't know this so just in case you didn't either.. If you like to run FSX in Full Screen, and use your 2nd monitor for other applications... Press the Windows key + p ... pick your monitor setup.. Start FSX Press the Windows key + p ... pick your dual monitor setup..
  10. Can the Insignia Infocast NS-DP3CH - Digital photo frame 3.5 in be used as a monitor for FSX? Thanx Guys =;)
  11. Hi all, I am a newbie to this site and need some advice re monitors for FSX. I have been using FSX for about 3 years on a single 17" Samsung. I use FSX primarily as a training aid (I hold a PPL) and the 17" monitor has sufficed for this purpose. I have recently upgraded my hardware and am trying to determine what to do about the monitor to improve the overall immersive experience. One option I am considering is moving to a single ultra wide monitor with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and resolution of 2560 x 1080. Can anyone comment on how the immersive experience might be on this configuration versus the more traditional 2/3 monitor setup? Any feedback greatly appreciated. By the way my current setup is as follows: Processor: I5-4670K Power Supply: 700 Watt Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-s2PV Ultra Durable CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Seidon 120V Liquid CPU Cooler RAM: 8GB Kingston C Drive: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB ATA FSX Drive: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB ATA Disk Drive 3: Western Digital 300GB ATA Drive Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Monitor: Samsung Software: Windows 8.1 64 bit (Only recently upgrade from Windows 7 64 bit). FSX Deluxe with ORBX Thanks.
  12. Hi, Im usingf the PMDG 777 with P3Dv4 on a Dual Monitor Setup (Second is for gauges) and i have a Problem with undocking the Panels. Whenever i undock a Panel to take it to my second Monitor, the Panel goes black in the VC. Ist like im litterally taking it out to bring it to the other Screen. I have never had this with any other aircraft. Is it Normal ? sorry for my bad english Greetings from switzerland Stephane
  13. I recently came into a small inheritance, which at my age I'm going to blow  and am looking for advice. I've scoured AVSIM and other on-line sites, but really can't find a definitive answer--if there actually is one--for one aspect of my new rig. I have three Phillips 43 inch native 4k monitors. One centered and the other two at about 30 degrees offset. The monitors stretch eight feet across and I sit about 3 feet from the screen, so my whole field of view is covered, as I don't like being confined to one screen. I always use Track IR at slow tracking speeds, and aren't ready yet for VR. I'm trying to drive all three monitors at 4k and am stuck at configuring the GPU's. I already have a water-cooled I-7 6700k at 4.8 ghz; a1250 watt power supply; an ASUS Maximus VIII Formula MB; 16 gb Trident RAM at 3400 hz; and a large case. I fly virtual cockpit exclusively, with no extra views. I had three EVGA 1070 FTW dt's with stock fan cooling in the first build. Each was plugged into one of the three monitors using display-port 1.1, which on these monitors gives you a 30hz refresh rate. I physically overlapped the screens' bezels and didn't use Nvidia Surround (because you can't in this setup). I used Rob's high end settings. The best I could do was to span all three at 2560 x 1440 full screen by stretching the windowed image across all three (at some point I'll use Fly-Elise or something else to remedy the distortion.) Usually got 30fps plus in ORBX scenery and A2A aircraft at that resolution. When I went to 4k it worked well on one screen, but stretching the view over two (or even one) more screen drove fps way down to single digits. When I shrank the view, the 1070's fps went way up. Enlarging the view sent fps way down, so I figured I was GPU limited, not CPU limited. My plan is to sell the three 1070's and get one or more Titan pascal's. My options as I see them are: one water-cooled Titan driving three screens; two water-cooled Titans in SLI; two water-cooled Titans not in SLI with one card driving two screens and the other a single screen; and three Titans each driving its own screen. I do not plan on overclocking the cards. I want 4k detail, if possible. I really don't want to get into another rig to use Wideview, and would welcome all advice. Thanks, Jay
  14. Merry Christmas Eve to all. I didn't think that this fit in the hardware section. I received my new 2560X1440 monitor today and hooked it up. I opened FSX and selected this resolution from the menu, 2560x1440x32, and noticed that I had two black sections on the left and right. I was under the impression that 1560x1440 was 16:9 aspect ratio, and I am fairly certain that the last monitor I was using was 16:9 aspect ratio which had no black sections on the side. When reading about FSX CFG I read that, I think its called wide screen, should be changed to true. I'm pretty sure I have not done this yet and will try it. I'm just confused that if they are the same aspect ration why is one showing black sections??? Also, when I change wide screen to true, is there a section of the CFG that I need to type in the new resolution, 2560x1440? I wouldn't think so since it already showed up in FSX Setting. By the way, I know a little about changing CFG and editing through Notepad, but am very much an amateur at this, so a child's explanation would be very helpful. Any advice is welcomed and have a merry Christmas everyone!
  15. Hello everyone, Unfortunately I am having an issue with P3D, my screen is a bit jittery. It's quite difficult to describe, but I see people panning and their textures are smooth, however when I pan my textures kind of... blur? It's almost a bit stuttery. I see some people with 30fps and it looks really smooth when panning, however mine isn't. I've tried locking my frames and monitor HZ in NVIDIA Inspector, but it hasn't seemed to work. Any ideas? (I have V Sync and triple buffering on) Thanks, Canine
  16. I'm looking for a new 1440p display for flightsim use - DCS2.5 and X-Plane11. Budget is up to £400, only considering 16:9 displays, assuming at this price range IPS are less suitable (???), and not convinced curved displays are worthwhile for 16:9. Here are some panels, all VA other than the 1st one... no manufacturer info on input lag: Acer EB321QUR 75Hz 1ms £250 Acer B326HUL 60Hz 5ms £315 AOC Q3277PQ 60Hz 4ms £200 AOC Q3279VWF 75Hz 5ms £385 BenQ EW3270ZL 60Hz 4ms £270 BenQ PD3200Q 60Hz 4ms £420 HP Omen 32" 75Hz 5ms £320 Have any suggestions of your own? Or can you convince me tom spend more for higher refresh rate? Most people I've asked have suggested that a lower refresh rate - 60Hz - is compensated by higher LOD in flightsims.
  17. Hello everyone, My birthday is coming up and I have been saving for a three monitor setup. I currently have on my rig, an Intel i7 4770K @ 4.1, Nvidia GTX 750, 8gb ram, 2tb hard drive 7200rpm. When I first built the rig, custom for fsx, I skimped out major on the gpu to save money, as fsx does not use much of it anyway. However, now I am going to try to use Nvidia Surround for a three monitor setup. What I want to know is, how will the system react to the new hardware? Will I see a major drop in FPS in fsx? WIll other parts of the system react negatively? Also, since I am new to the entire field of three monitor surround, I plan to get the following monitor http://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VA2037A-LED-20-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00AV4NXFY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1423955415&sr=8-4&keywords=monitor or http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C8T5KOW/ref=psdc_1292115011_t1_B00AV4NXFY A bit cheaper, (important as getting three means I save 30 bucks!) Which would you recommend? is the extra 30 worth it, or can I get the cheaper monitor for the same result? What I want to know is, is there anything wrong with the monitor, past problems, died quickly, uneven coloring, etc. Refresh rate and response time's effect specifically in FSX. Will the setup have problems like lagging, screen tearing (whatever that is), etc. Sorry if I am coming off as a noob, being my first experience with three displays and all. (I currently use two CRT monitors my school used 20 year ago!) Thanks in advance, 1251452
  18. I just recently purchased a GTX 770 which has 3 Samsung B2330 monitors connected to it. When I enable surround (with or with out bezel correction) I lose some real estate on screen 1. With 3 1920x1080 monitors I would have expected something close to 5760x1080, what I am getting is 5040x1050. Also when I exit surround mode, the resolution on monitor 1 comes back at 1680x1050. Any ideas on how to correct? Monitor 1 & 2 are DVI monitor 3 is HDMI. Thanks Kevin
  19. I have an ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q Gaming Monitor - 27" 2K WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS, overclockable 165Hz, G-SYNC™ . While everything works great and smooth from 48fps and over, any frame rate below 48 ( from 30-40fps especially) start to be not smooth with a short of micro-stuttering. I noticed that many users have locked their fps to 30 and have great smooth results which i never so far experienced that result. I have a true G-sync monitor with 1-144mhz Variable Refresh Rate Range, so i am still trying to understand where is the issue. thanks
  20. Available for sale in March - http://www.techspot.com/news/67674-dell-32-inch-ultrasharp-8k-monitor-incredible-but.html. Where's Mitch? Only $5K. Probably best to hold off for the 42 inch display. Exciting stuff!
  21. Hi i am thinking of buying the "Acer T231H Multi-touch 23" lcd Monitor" to use with windows 7 and FSX+PMDG. - Does anybody use this or similar monitor with FSX, etc, - How good will the cockpit controls be? - I want to be able to touch control the PMDG and FSX airplanes dials, etc. - Can i do all that plus more with a touch screen monitor. Any feedback would be great help and welcome. Thanks
  22. I have a "Desktop Aviator model 2450B" gps unit (with the vga screen) that I'm contemplating including in a new cockpit build. I haven't installed the unit before, and have a few questions, should anyone here be familiar with these units: (1) Sim compatibility: I understand they are compatible with FSX. I would like to know if they work with FSX Steam and/or Prepar3d? (2) Reliability: Before I make up a place for it in the cockpit, I'd like to know whether these units reliably install and operate? I ask because I see the manufacturer no longer offers these units. Any advice is appreciated, Many thanks, Brian Vancouver, BC
  23. I need some professional advice. I have a LG34UM67P UltraWide 34" monitor; windows 10x64 Creator, 970 Asus Strix, AMD Vishera (8 core) and 32gb Ram. I need someone to tell me the best settings inside p3dv4; Nvidia Control Panel (if needed) and Nvidia Inspector (if needed). The only thing I really run is GSX; UTLive; Chaseplane, FTX Global and PTA Assistant...preset 1.5 if that sounds right... Trying to get this sim to look good and get my framerates up. I may jump to a 1060 6gb in June if I can get a good deal. Also any setting I might need to change inside the monitor. any help greatly appreciated. I have As2016, ASCA, and Envetex and Proatc on a networked machine. Would be sincerely grateful, Thank you, Bob M.
  24. Hi Guys, I'm new to ChasePlane, just bought it and love it. I'm running P3Dv4.4 on Windows 10 and the latest version of ChasePlane. I have 3 scenery monitors and an instruments monitor below. Scenery is on view labeled "Onboard (ChasePlane) View 00", instruments monitor view is labeled "Onboard (ChasePlane) View 01". I'd I'd like to put my cockpit instruments onto my instruments monitor but I don't know how to make ChasePlane switch to my instruments monitor. Spent several days searching in this forum and in the ChasePlane users guide for an answer. I thought that ChasePlane would simply switch to the active window when I mouse click the instruments window (or select View 01 from P3D Views), and let me make camera adjustments in whichever window is active. What happens, instead of the active instruments window responding, the scenery monitor camera is responding. How can I tell ChasePlane which window I'm adjusting the camera in? Do I need to close the instrument monitor's view 01 and reopen it so ChasePlane can recognize it? Answer must be simple, I just never found it. Thanks in advance for any ideas or solution. Gary
  25. Hi. I have just acquired a second monitor and I am trying to get it set up as follows: On my primary monitor, I would like FSX running in full screen. On my secondary monitor, I want to run 3rd party programs like Active Sky, smart ACARS and also Google Chrome so that i can look at charts etc. Can anyone tell me if/how this is possible? Thanks. Callum.
