  1. Microsoft has released the Cub Crafters' Carbon Cub. Microsoft has this to say about the Cub; "The Cub Crafters’ Carbon Cub is a thoroughly modern, high performance aircraft that has taken the fundamentally superior designs of classic bush planes and re-invented it using 21st century materials such as carbon fiber and computer aided design technology. This model, with full virtual cockpit and a lightweight 180 horsepower engine, provides an immersive experience for spectacular short takeoffs and landings". It has been released via the Marketplace, accessible via in-game download.
  2. Hi Folks Anyone still interested in flying Cargo Jobs ? If so you might like to have a play with...... 'Cargo Series' - Career-progression based 'Jobs', enabling the use of larger aircraft and payloads, in Flight. 'Cargo Series' jobs are based on MGS Flight's default 'Light Cargo' job, (as-released). All modifications and additional code being restricted to the limitations/capabilities of MGS Flight's mission engine/framework, and their existing, as-released, dialog's content. ______________________________________________________________________________________ What this public beta contains - A career-progression of aircraft-category weight-size jobs, (4 off). The next beta will include additional variants of each aircraft-category job. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Why - MGS Flight's default missions & jobs - - Mainly use statically scripted code, (see example below). - Are coded specifically for limited aircraft types. - Are suitable only for limited aircraft weight-sizes, (Very-Light). - Cargoes are limited to 453 kg, (1,000 lbs). - Don't discourage inappropriate behaviours. - Have no career progression, (as released). Example - The majority of scripts only test against static values. e.g. Destination runway is short, (tests against 609m). Takes no account of aircraft-type, payload, weather, etc. MGS Flight's default 'Light Cargo' job - Is actually only suitable for 'Very-Light' category sized aircraft. 'Cargo Series' jobs - - Mainly use dynamically scripted code, (data from aircraft type being flown). - Are suitable for all available aircraft types, (extensible). - Are suitable for any aircraft weight-size, (subject to MTOW). - Cargo weights are appropriate to aircraft weight-size. - Discourage inappropriate behaviours, (penalties). - Offer a career progression. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Credits - - Microsoft Game Studios - For FLIGHT. - Steve Heijster, (StoneLance) - For his 'Flight Tool Kit', unflagging enthusiasm, and diligence. Much appreciated. Many thanks to Steve, without whose tools and assistance this would not have been possible. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Download - From FS-Shipyards.com - MS FLIGHT - ADDON - ACTIVITIES - JOBS - Cargo Series Have Fun ! 9. It took me years to accept/understand why a Prop Aircaft, single or multi (provided not counter-rotating), should start banking/yawing to the right (on a clockwise rotating prop as seen from the cockpit) when the throttle was retarded/idled... I could understand the Torque, P-factor, Slipstream and even Gyroscopic effect contributing to a left bank/left yaw when power is applied , i.e.: during climb/go around, etc... (something we have debated here several times regarding FLIGHT), but I just couldn't understand why there should be a bank to the right when the throttle was retarded, say, during descent. The only exception, of course, is when the aircraft are built with canted engines, or different incidences in the wings, or incidence in the vertical stabilizer to account for cruise compensation, but what if the aircraft has none of these compensations built in? What if the trims are set to their neutral position and controls centered? Why? MSFS previous versions (including the best add-ons) never modeled this, and I, not being a prop aircraft pilot, could only try to observe and/or ask my fellow engine-rated pilots, who looked at me as ... well as you sometimes think of me here at the forum :-) Well, guess what?, ELITE models this effect, X-Plane 9 and now 10 models it too, and I have argued with Austin about it, but, BUT!!!! MS FLIGHT in it's NEW/redesigned flight dynamics model, also models this effect. Pick the Maule, clear skies for zero winds / turbulence, go up to say, 6000', then stabilize the aicraft, full prop RPM, and retard the throttle... Observe the AH and the magnetic compass or HSI and see it starting to bank and yaw right.... Well, of course there is a mathematical/mechanical justification for this to happen, but I will leave it for another thread :-)

  13. I opted to buy the xbox to play Tiger Woods PGA Golf 12 on it for two reasons, the online game that EA had was in a fast decline, the online arena is slow to develop, they finally now got smart and put the Tiger Woods PGA 13 on the Xbox also with Kinect Engine.I also have the highly sucessful Forza 4 Racing games which was developed by Turn 10 Studios along with Microsoft Studios, looks like they should learn from how well this game is going. As a note Forza 4 has a much more releastic DLC model than MS Flight will have. For instance Forza 4 offered a Season pass where we got 10 new cars per month for 6 months for 29.99, about 5.00 per DLC that is about .50 cents per car. Now Ms Flight wants $20.00 for the rest of Hawaii, $15.00 for the Maule Orion and $8.00 for the P-51. Now that is $43.00 and we have not left Hawaii. Of course that will work if all we want to do is play all over Hawaii. My guess is that it will not work. Suppose I want to fly over Florida, another $29.99?I believe that MS missed a good bet by not porting FSX over to the Xbox, imagine how much better that would be. You could easily have sold it for $100.00 and gotten new xbox buyers, and new xbox live gold members. Of course I am not a CEO or marketing genius. I just use what is in small supply now, it is called "common sense". I want to add that MS Kinect is tailor made for KINECT.Just my Thoughts, Don't flame me, but please comment.Dan

  23. Maybe some are using Flight out there and want to complete their collection. At least when opening the Steam Store here in Germany all MS Flight stuff has 40% off until the 23rd of July here. http://store.steampo...icrosoft flight Edit: Oh my bad! I did not realize that the "MS Fly" post below was meant for MS Flight! Can a Mod just delete this Post maybe? Sorry for the inconvenience!
  24. I've got a two screen set up on my nVidia GeForce GTS450 card - an LCD monitor connected by HDMI (Monitor 1) and a 3D-capable projector connected by DVI (Monitor 2).When I start MS Flight it keeps starting in Anaglyph 3D mode (red/blue) with a prompt (presumably from the nVidia drivers) that no compatible profile could be found, and to press Ctrl-Alt-Insert to disable this message.I have the 3D disabled in nVidia control panel (ie. taken the tick out of "Enable Stereoscopic 3D"), as it doesn't work on the LCD anyway (I only turn it on when I watch films on the Projector), but I can't find any way to turn off this anaglyph mode in MS Flight options, means I can't play it at all.Any ideas?
  25. MS FLIGHT - CORE - UI - Upgrade - MissionLoadScene - Tips When you load flights, missions, jobs, etc. are you bored with reading the same tips ? This addon package contains - - 112 new additional tips, quotes, & factoids for the 'scenery-loading' screen. - Plus 88 of FLIGHT's original 98. I've removed FLIGHT's website, survey, and GFWL related tips. The tips, quotes, & factoids, alternate between originals and new. All formatted for improved readability, (within 5 row limitation). When installed, and once in-game, tips will continue loading from whichever one you'd seen previously. i.e. They won't restart from tip zero. Please note - Currently this package will work on any FLIGHT language installation, however, the tips will be displayed in ENGLISH only. A future multi-language upgrade may become available if persons are willing to assist with translations. I'll supply the nescessary files, or raw text. Author - Microsoft - Tweaked and supplemented by Paul Donnelly, (BASys). Download from FS-Shipyards.com - MS FLIGHT - CORE - UI - Upgrade - MissionLoadScene - Tips Have fun ATB Paul Donnelly (BASys)
