Back in the summer of 2014 Ryan commented on the purchase of a new 780 GTX card and that he would post his findings on what was working. Would the PMDG Dev Team consider posting how they setup NI and DX10 Fixer when flying their fleet? Thanks, S. Robinson

I noticed some differences between the SimTweak FSX NI profile settings and those recommended by NickN in his FSX setup guide - scroll to section 2 (his guide is based on older Nvidia drivers, I am running v347.25). NI profile differences - SimTweak in blue, NickN in red: Antialiasing Antialiasing - Setting = 4x [4x MS] = 8xS [Combined: 1x2 SS + 4x MS] Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling = 4x SGSS = 2x SGSS / Off (NickN doesn't seem to be a fan of SGSS!) NVIDIA Predefined FXAA Usage = Disallowed = Allowed Filtering Texture filtering - Driver Controlled LOD Bias = Off = ? Texture filtering - LOD Bias = -1.5000 = 0.000 Texture filtering - Negative LOD Bias = Allow = Clamp Common Vertical Sync = Use the 3D application setting = 1/2 Refresh Rate Q1) I do not fully understand what all these graphics driver settings actually do! However I had always assumed that for FSX (and FS9) the recommended antialiasing setting would be either 8xS or 8xSQ and that negative LOD bias should always be set to clamp when using anisotropic filtering because the textures are already being sharpened? Q2) How was the value of LOD Bias [DX] = -1.5000 determined?

Hi all, I've followed the several instructions recommended on this forum to get nVidia Inspector to force AA in P3D v2.4. I followed the several methods/settings to the letter, but to no avail. P3D v2.4 on my machine that sports a modest GeForce 660ti, "refuses" to comply. Would anyone know if this might be an issue with this particular card (that would be odd, I suppose), or of a sure-fire way to get Inspector to work? I've tried, but was not overly impressed with the results, and would rather opt for 2xSGSS, if I can get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When does FSX action manual changes (i.e. in a text editor) to the FSX CFG file, and also Nvidia driver configuration changes via Nvidia Inspector? E.g. are CFG file changes loaded into FSX as soon the file is saved or do you have to restart the flight or even the whole sim to see the effect (and similarly with Nvidia Inspector)? I've always assumed that FSX loads the CFG file internally when you start the sim, and so any manual changes to the file take effect only after re-starting the sim when the file can be reloaded again. With Nvidia Inspector I'd assumed that changes to the driver configuration are executed when you click the "Apply changes" button on the profile page and hence on-the-fly in FSX. Also, is there a manual for Nvidia Inspector anywhere? I'm using v1.9.6.8. I'm currently tweeking my setup and wanted to be sure I'm not wasting my time with unnecessary restarts of the sim, or not seeing graphics changes because they needed a sim restart! Thanks in advance for your replies.

Nvidia inspector v1.9.6.9 is available and I was wondering if custom profiles can be corrupted if I use the upgrade button? It's not difficult to install v1.9.6.9 from scratch and customize the FSX profile again but I just wanted to know for future reference. Thanks in advance for your replies.

First off, I will start by saying that if you don not use a NVidia Graphics Card, this thread will have next to no use for you. For those with a NVidia Graphics card, you've probably heard of the following: NVidia Inspector. NVidia Inspector, in general terms, is a tool that allows you to change internal graphics card settings for any program. If you are aware that NVidia Inspector can be used to benefit FSX, then you will likely most benefit from this post. If you have a NVidia Inspector graphics card, but have no idea what NVidia Inspector is, then I suggest you download Inspector via the internet. *DO YOUR RESEARCH before using NVidia Inspector to "tweak" FSX. Once your ready, make sure your graphics driver is up to ate, then follow the instructions and pictures on the following thread: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now, for those with NVidia Inspector experience.... Does it work for you? After researching for a long time and constantly trying to figure out how to tweak FSX to the best ability, it was not long ago, after Word Not Allowed's Tweaking Guide, that I discovered that NVidia Inspector could be used to 'squeeze' out more FPS from MS FSX. Only, after a week of anticipation that all my FSX problems would be solved, I put the proper settings into Inspector, started up FSX.. and -- my FPS halved. I tried using less harsh settings (below 4xS) and there was no improvement. Why? I have no idea. So, now, I am asking of you to share you experiences with NVidia Inspector. Good or Bad? Please elaborate, and feel free to provide any advice ^_^. Thank you, and remember to post nicely with useful answers. Joe.
