If you are a past advertiser, please sign up today (its free and you do not need to create an ad to be an account owner). We are pleased to announce that the new AVSIM Advertising Center is now Online and fully functional. There are some significant differences and features for advertisers and those that would like to advertise their sites, products, services or other offerings to the AVSIM global community. The new system allows you to create your own ads, banners, and select their placement on AVSIM. Here is a short list of features now offered by AVSIM for our advertisers and those that would like to advertise: IMAGE BASED ADS: Conventional image advertising continues with the addition of FLASH and HTML advertisement. As always, AVSIM offers placement in nearly every location on the web site, now including the library! Take advantage of one of the most powerful advertising systems in our hobby today, and get your product in front of hundreds of thousands of readers every day. AD FORMATS THAT ARE COMING: We will shortly be introducing full page advertising with that is controlled by the advertiser. We are also looking at bringing video advertising Online as well. More features and formats for advertisers will be announced in the near future. GOOGLE LIKE TEXT ADS: For pennies a click through, you can set up and run your own text ad campaign. Buy a $10.00 package and place your text ad in prominent locations on the AVSIM site, including the File Library. You control how many clicks you will allow, and you control how much money you spend. Unlike Goggle however, you are not bidding for placement. Your text ad is in equal rotation with everyone else's' text ad. We are going to be adding many more text ad locations throughout AVSIM, so if text advertising is attractive to you, get in on the ground floor today. Text ads bring you the additional feature of targeted advertising. That is, you can pick countries where users are located and only show your ad to those members. That way, you target specific audiences and do not waste valuable click through. You can also control the times at which these ads appear. Join the center today, post a text ad, and start using the power of AVSIM Advertising! You can create your FREE account at the Advertising Center here.
  2. Platinum Airways announces that it is adding online flying to its offering. The very virtual Open Skies airline will seek affiliation with VATSIM as soon as its online membership meets the online flying platform’s requirements. In its three years of existence, Platinum Airways has established itself as a high content and low barrier virtual airline that focuses on its pilots and not on replicating a real-world airline. As the pioneer of Open Skies in the world of virtual airlines, Platinum Airways allows its pilots to fly the mission of their choice with the aircraft of their choice at the time of their choice. By default, Platinum Airways has always been an offline VA, as it trusted its pilots to file correct PIREPs. As several aspiring members indicated over the past months that they prefer an online experience, Platinum Airways management has decided to add online to its offering. Platinum Airways’ default policy remains that it is an offline airline. However, in order to provide corporate support to pilots who have or would like to join an online network, Platinum Airways will seek VA affiliation with VATSIM once it meets the online flying platform’s membership requirements for virtual airlines. Existing and aspiring members are invited to state whether they should be considered offline or online pilots. In support, Platinum Airways will appoint an online manager and will enable the online membership to communicate special events and other activities via the Platinum Airways website. Platinum Airways hopes that by removing this potential barrier, it will be in a position to attract a pilots segment that it was unable to service until now. About Platinum Airways: Keen to deliver on its mission to keep the fun in the hobby, Platinum Airways is probably the only virtual airline to combine an Open Skies policy, allowing its pilots to fly any mission of their choice with the aircraft of their choice at the time of their choice, with a strategic hub network. The carefully selected hubs, Newark (KEWR), Dallas-Fort Worth (KDFW), Vancouver (CYVR), Perth (YPPH) and Brussels (EBBR), should be attractive to a global membership. In addition, Platinum Airways offers its pilots an often cheeky Destination of the Week, Relief, Military and Cargo missions and a Flight Dispatch division. Sticking to the KISS principle (Keep It Straight and Simple), Platinum Airways hosts an active forum and a screenshot of the week competition, with the winner providing the main picture on its home page for the next week. For more information, please visit www.platinumairways.org or mail info [at] platinumairways.org.
  3. Hello, I use active skies 2012 and I can only currently have the weather updating every 5 mins is there a way to make it more frequent like every 1 min or maybe 30 seconds? Thanks
  4. Good morning, As I'm sure most of you are aware of my recent addition to FS. I have been working on a new site and Teamspeak server for pilots to interact online with each other while flying there NGX & using there FS2crew addons. The website address is below and is now LIVE! ! http://www.ngx-live.co.uk --- It is free to register.. The way it works is as follows: Gamespy and/or external services are not needed as you're not required to join an online session. This reduces the amount of problems experienced when flying online and enables the pilot to fly without any issues, which uses all addons to their full potential. ** BUT I NEED TO MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR, THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL FS2CREW PRODUCT IT WILL BE MANAGED BY MYSELF ONLY ** Track each other on the FS2CREW ONLINE TRACKER Chatting to your friends while cruising at high altitudes Sharing flight plans * Routes... Making new friends Plus lots more, all I will ask is that everyone respects each other, it is just for fun remember that... !!!! I know there are alot of people I chat to on the Avsim forum that would be great to chat to online. Regards Steve . . .
  5. Hey guys! Well.... i've just about had it with MFSX . When I built a new computer mostly for FSX I installed windows 8 on it (I know.... bad move), and sure enough i was getting all kinds of joystick problems, so yes i tried FSUIPC registered, disabling this and that blah blah blah.. And recently i took part in the cross the pond westbound just yesterday, and right when i got my oceanic clearence... BAM! Fatal error! So i was sick of it and uninstalled windows 8 and installed windows 7. I just got FSX up and running, Installed FSUIPC, REX and applied all the tweaks, and now when i try to run.... "Flight simulator was unable to load some program files and will now exit. Pleae reinstall FS....". That was the final strike. I checked for fixes and there are none and even if there are i dont really want to go back to it, i want to try something new. So prepar3d, which has support, developers, communities ect. However I have some questions about it before i buy. Most addon software now give the option for prepar3d which is great, however do PMDG aaircraft work fine? I know you can make them work but is it a hassle? I really enjoy playing on VATSIM so i was wondering if squawkbox works fine. Also, do you get random errors in game like in FSX? Are there a bunch of tweaks to add to the config file? Do you recomend i make the change? If you want my specs just for info there on my profile, and a list of addons i use(ed) in FSX: (in case you want to tell me something on compatibility). PMDG aircraft, looking to get the 777 Catpain sim 777 aerosoft airports and scenery REX ( I know they have prepar3d support) FSUIPC(Not sure if you use it in P3D?) SweetFX P.S. Did any of you use the "FSX to prepar3d migration tool" on the simmarket? Thanks a lot and hope to hear back from you soon!
  6. With our recent system upgrades and fine tuning of our back end systems, we have made the decision to bring back our Online Chat System. The Chat system allows you to "chat" with your fellow AVSIM Community members in real time. This is a text based system and is not a "voice over IP" system such as TeamSpeak. Never the less, it gives you instant access to your fellow members at anytime of day or night, 24 / 7. You can access the Chat system by clicking on the COMMUNITY tab or by clicking here.
  7. We have upgraded Tapatalk to its latest revision again, and it is now back online. If you are using Tapatalk, please report any issues here.
  8. Hi guys, First of all: Thank you PMDG for your outstanding products. I wonder if it would be possible to have a sound option for online (VATSIM etc) flying. Now it's very hard to understand the controller since the cockpit noice is so present. In real life a headphone would keep that noice away and only transmit ATC, in FSX all sounds come through my headset. If only we could have an (let's call it) "multiplayer sound" option that would reduce all other noise (engines, environment etc) and focus on ATC.... I hope we can!

  10. If you go to the bottom of the forum main page, you will see a list of folks that are on the forums or have been during the preceding 15 minutes. It is not the easiest way to tell if your friends are online. Though we have had this feature online for a while, not much mention of it has been made. Today we added a bit of an additional capability and thought we would give it a bit of exposure. You can quickly now determine if your friends (and staff) are online. A single click on the two heads image will bring up this display. Enjoy!

We will publish the results provided up to to the FANCON on Saturday, May 4th. The survey will run through December and we will provide updates or snapshots from time to time. Please take the survey today and help us explore your community.

  13. Hey guys,I have been flying online for a few years now and have never seen contrails behind any of the other pilots aircraft. Its something I feel would add a lot of realism to the online experience. Here is my question, I have found two products for contrails. One is Contrails Pro by FlightSim Tools and the other is a recent release called 3D contrails by Supression Flight. Does anyone here use either of those? I am curios as to whether the 3D contrails by Supression flight works with online flight. I know the Contrails Pro do but have also read of frame rate hits and not realistic looking contrails. I hope someone here has used one or the other and could help out on a potential purchase! :)Thanks!

  15. I've been having trouble recently with the 737 and 777 when attempting to play online. Both aircraft load up and run perfectly fine in free flight but when I load up the aircraft and attempt to fly online my displays stay black and nothing is clickable, let alone functional. I am running the aircraft on the Steam Edition of FSX. As I recall they had worked fine at one point but for whatever reason, when I attempted to fly the last few days the aircraft do not properly load in multiplayer. It looks like it tries to initialize upon starting up but nothing happens. Is it just me that has a case of misfortune or am I missing something? I have done a reinstall of the 737 but that did not fix anything, and I have all the SDK's installed so I ruled that out as well.
  16. Hi I would like to encourage people to test the pre-Beta (= Alpha^^) multiplayer system of http://fscloud.net - This will help the developers there! The FSCloud client is a simple to install and run "out of the box" multiplayer. Just start FSX in single player at some gate and then open up the FSCloud client. Please note that the system is in an early development still. It has already got fun parts (e.g. installable apps) and it is running stable for many users. It is primarily designed for prop and jet flights, not for formation flying or stunt flying. You help the team by reporting bugs to the forums on their homepage. The chat overlay: The main screen: The live map on the webpage: Additional functionality (like groupflights or flying jobs in a schedule) is realized with Apps: Greetings
