  1. I have recently converted to P3D V2.4 in a big way - the installation corrupted by P3D V1.4 - and I am committed moving forward. 'Tis the future, after all! I am trying to tune this beastie, and have followed Rob A's threads and others with interest, but wanted to post something I have observed that perhaps others with greater insight/knowledge/understanding can decipher. First, my rig: 3770K @ 4.2 Ghz, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance, EVGA GTX 780 AC (factory overclock), P3D installed on an SSD. I am typically "immune" to stutters and the occasional screen tear, but blurries drive me nuts. In trying to find a happy medium, however, I have found that: 1 - When the scenery gets blurry and I hit PAUSE, it catches up. Sometimes it take a couple of seconds, sometime it takes 10. Whatever the reason, something is still running and playing catch-up, but it does catch up and the scenery becomes crisp. 2 - When everything is sharp as a tack and I un-pause, I get stutters, continuously, until the blurries again appear. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!!! I know there are dependencies/trade-offs, but I cannot seem to figure out what they are! I have tried and tweaked the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT and FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION mods, have adjusted my sliders back to "truly average", all to no avail. I know that somewhere in there is a happy middle ground! I had P3D V1.4 pretty well sorted out, but do believe I (and for that matter, all of us) need to move forward to P3D V2 and beyond. So, I am committed. Perhaps to an asylum, but committed! Thanks for the help!
  2. Bummer <_< I really don't know if I should buy the CS777 for P3Dv2 or keep waiting for this new agreement between the two parties to be in effect. What are you going to do or how much longer will you wait it out?
  3. I start P3d v2 in an unusual way. First click on the desktop icon. This leads you to an F22 Raptor on the runway at Langley AFB, at Full throttle and rolling down the runway. Quickly slam on the brakes and go full throttle to idle throttle at the same time. This is normal. Go into your setup scenario and select an aircraft and an airport, then click OK. This will lead you to a totally black screen. This means we forgot to delete the .cfg files before we started!!. If at this point you can get the ALT/Enter function to work great!, If not.. Oops... the next step is to Shut Off the computer. The computer has completely locked up and we need to power it down and restart. Once that is done, its only about 5- 6 minutes, you are good to start over. This time, before hitting the desktop icon, we will go into C:/ Programs/ Prepar3dV2 ...and find the .cfg file. Delete that. It is much easier then continually going into the cfg file and changing HDR= 1 to 0. Subsequent start ups will revert back to 1 anyway. Also, to save yourself time have a direct link icon on the desktop to the .cfg file!! Now, start over, and hit the desktop icon and once again you should be in an F22 at Full throttle, Once again, slam the brakes and throttle to gain control. This is normally how we start aircraft. Now select the setup scenario and the aircraft etc....This 'should' put you in the aircraft, on the runway you chose, with engines running at full throttle and ready to go. If you like to do startup procedures, check lists and taxi to runways etc.. that's not good here. Saving a flight and scenario will totally mess with the simulation and it is not recommended.. Last step, go into the Options BEFORE taking off. This is important. Do not under any circumstances, during flight, select any Map mode, or Options modes. This is because when returning to the flight, you will be at full throttle and possibly inverted, usually pointed 90 degrees down. This over stresses the airplane. On the runway, make any last minute preparations in Options. Especially to resetting all of your controls and joystick inputs to where they were. Also, if you do not like the Red Messages, click on the link to your .cfg file and change those back to False once again. You are good to go!!! From hitting the icon to flying time is about 20 - 25 minutes depending on your threshold of pain and your ability to control anger. Simple.. I love P3D!!!
  4. Obviously Windows 10 is still under development, but does anybody know if LM development plans include Windows 10? They skipped 8 and 8.1 not surprising IMO, but 10 does look promising. Thanks!
  5. Borrowing from Rob Ainscough's web page banner, I installed my Christmas gift to myself and went head first down the P3D V2 rabbit hole. Also did a complete face plant when I hit bottom, since the installation was corrupted (still not sure why) and it destroyed my scenery libraries in P3D V1.4!!! So, I am fully committed to moving forward and have spent the last two days working on perfecting the box-stock simulation using the Mooney Acclaim (I fly pretty much all GA). Using Rob's suggestions (I have an almost high-end system, 4770K @ 4.2 GHz, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, EVGA GTX 780 AC, ASUS 2560x1440 HDMI display, Samsung Extreme Pro 480 SSD) , and the recent FIBER and TEXTURE mods, I have everything working pretty well. Smooth, locked at 30 fps, no jaggies, and no shimmering. I find the "windowed" mode to be a real benefit, as I can seamlessly switch back and forth between P3D and Chrome to compare settings, and I am impressed with the light CPU loads (so far!). The single exception are shadows - they are horrible, and look like 8-bit renderings. Cockpit shadows have constant shimmering even when sitting on the tarmac, and terrain shadows twitch and quiver as well. Seeing the crisp lines in Rob's screenshots it is clear that something is amiss, but since I matched the P3D (dialing some back just a notch in some cases) and Inspector settings, I don't see where I went wrong! If I can get this shadow problem figured out, and can incrementally start building my world. Until then, though, I will be just chasing my tail. Any suggestions for fixing shadows?
  6. Couple questions before purchasing. I currently have a 3930k OC@ 4.4Ghz I just had the luck to be able to get my hands on a motherboard from work for a great, great price and I couldn't resist. Its just that my 3930k does not fit the socket of this board (ASUS P8Z77-ws). My Problem: The board I currently own is from a stock Alienware rig I picked up a couple years back and I haven't changed it since my purchase. My current board only has one slot for 1 GPU and I'm looking to pick up a 2nd GTX 780 for when P3D v2.x eventually gets SLI support. So what I need help with is, should I put in this ASUS board I got from work and buy a 4770k or keep my existing 3930k and buy a board that has SLI support for my second GFX card that I am eventually getting. Which proc is better OC'd and which is better for simming? What would you do? I am leaving the office in a few hours and I know I will be picking something up lol
  7. I want to buy a new pc that can run the pmdg 777 on addon scenery like UK2000 and the rest of must have addons (REX, FTX Global,...) and get above 25 fps in the cockpit. Is this possible with these specs ? I5-4690k overclocked up to 4.6 ghz MSI Z97 GTX 960 2gb 8gb ram I know tweaks must be applied
  8. Hi I was flighing with CS 727-100 yesterday. I installed it by Copy&Paste. Everything was fine. Today when I started P3D V2 (also I have installed FTX Global, FSUIPC, OPUS FSX, GSX - all those 3rd party were working).. I got a first message : "Prepar3D cannot find the aircraft for the requested flight. The default flight willtry load. after my Ok "Prepar3D cannot find the aircraft files. Please reinstall Prepar3D" Well I would like to know What´s going on to avoid in the future when I will have more installed acft and softwares and config done installed needs to reinstall P3DV2. Also I need to know If this is a new bug since that I couldn´t find any through Google . I already desinstall FSUIPC, GSX, I made a new standard .CFG, restored the system, repaired using Prepar3D application.. nothing !!! I am disapointed.. So at this point I can delete and resintall...Ok.. but Who can assure that this error will not happen again If we don't know the route cause ? Can you help me ? Thx

  10. Greetings, I am going to perform my first ever update, moving from Prepar3D V2.4 to V2.5, and wanted to know if there are some "best practices" for loading scenery files (and other tricks), thinking forward to V2.6. I never had to update FSX (no path possible) nor P3D V1.4 (also no path possible). However, I find myself with a lightly corrupted version of 2.4 and thought I would just with a fresh new build of 2.5. But, I am really looking upstream to the eventual 2.6 upgrade, and was wondering if there was a way to decouple the Orbx/Earth Simulations files from the main sim directory. That way, at least to my thinking, if I have to do another install I can just point the updated sim to the Orbx and Earth Simulations directory. Is there a way to decouple the Orbx and Earth Simulations directories from the main directory so that an update to V2.6 does not necessitate reloading scenery? I looked in the AVSIM guide but did not find anything about manipulating scenery files. Thanks for the guidance!
  11. Not a 100% sure about this so here goes, rumors are that v3 of P3D will be out soon and did not want to buy it until I was sure it would work in v3 also. Thanks for any information on this.
  12. Hello all! I just saw the news on Avsim that P3D v2 will be out THIS MONTH! () With DX11 engine in place what are we looking at for compatibility of major addons? Im talking about the PMDGs, Flytampas, Aerosofts (scenery and airbus x), GEX's, REX's, ORBX etc.... Will we be seeing updates and patches or should we see backwards compatibility with P3D v2? Also I like flying with FSinn online and I was also wondering about that. Im excited for this! will buy right away!
