  1. Hello, not sure this is the right place, and also if posted again. If so, im sorry. Topic is the newly (yesterday) released P3d v4 airport addon from TropicalSim, TAPA, buyable from SimMarket. The installer, this time not from simMarket themself, can destroy your scenery.cfg. Its the old known problem of changing the encoding of the file, resulting in the centent of it beeing chinese gibberish. Wich really shouldnt happen anymore by now... but thats not the point. The installer gives you the option to add the scenery to the library manually and this is what you SHOULD choose in this case. Then you simply can add it by hand through p3d. If you already did the auto-add, then you can do the following From TropicalSim support: "Go to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 and rename the backup file the installer makes before editing "Scenery_Before_VC Bird TAPA P3Dv4.CFG" to "scenery.cfg". Now just open P3Dv4 and manually insert the scenery entry." Hope it helps... PS: the airport itself is awesome...good quality, with working dyn-lights etc. Alex W.
  2. Hey, Even though I am using P3D, but I am posting here b/c of FSX/P3D both have the Scenery.cfg order, and I am so confused on how this file works. I also have the SceneryConfigtool 1.1. My question - I have a clean install with FS Global Mesh Added. Shouldn't this mesh be the first scenery all the way at the bottom? by default it places somewhere in the middle. I am planning to install some Orbx Sceneries after the mesh. Here is my Scenery.cfg - and can I remove sceneries (uncheck in SceneryConfigTool) which I am not using? And Shouldn't the FS Global Mesh (In Blue Bold) be the Very first entry as it is mesh - instead it comes after Base Sceneries. I have googled / and searched avsim forums on this. I am officially confused about this file Thanks skywolf [General] Title=FS9 World Scenery Description=FS9 Scenery Data Clean_on_Exit=TRUE [Area.001] Title=Default Terrain Texture_ID=1 3. Hi everyone, while browsing around the posts here, I noticed how some people were discussing what happens when there is a LOT of addon scenery installed. My question isn't so much about what the maximum number of layers is with FS still working properly -- (that would still be an interesting aspect though, so feel free to answer and let's find out who has the most sceneries installed ). Personally, I'll probably never get anywhere close to 1000.Rather, it's about how they are actually represented in the scenery.cfg. The background is that I'm the author of autower, and autower reads the scenery.cfg. Because of the format of the section names (e.g. "Area.001") until now I was convinced that the maximum area number is 999 (and my program behaves accordingly). However, if more than 999 layers are supported (and installed), the consequence is that the program will simply be ignoring some layers -- which would be a bug.So, for those of you who have more than 999 layers installed -- could you please let me know how areas "beyond" 999 are named in the scenery.cfg? Is it as simple as "Area.1000", "Area.1001", etc.? Or is it encoded in some different manner? Maybe it's easiest if you can just post a corresponding snippet of the configuration file...Thanks for your help & cheers!Chris
  4. Hello, I just installed ORBX FTX Global in P3D v4. FTX Central is working fine but FTX Configurator (including OLC and Lights) are not working. If i try to open one those three i get a message saying: ''Unable to locate the scenery.cfg file: Unable to locate the scenery.cfg file'' Link to the message Is this a known problem and does anyone know how to fix this?
  5. Hello, When I turn off one of the Areas in scenery.cfg by just editing Active=FALSE line does FSX still read bgls in that area/location at loading? How is it different from completely removing [Area*] from scenery.cfg? And while at it: what is Required=FALSE/TRUE line for? Thanks, Dirk.
  6. It seems to only happen after I install FTX Global. When I startup FSX, it presents the FSX splash screen but these errors with the scenery.cfg files (Areas 118, 119,120, etc) missing. I'm not sure how to remedy this. I found the file which contains those references but unsure how to resolve this. There are no other addons. Just FSX with SDK, SP 1 & 2.
  7. Hello, My orbx scenery was mixing up with my vanialla p3d scenery so i checked scenery.cfg and it looks like im missing a area. How would i go about fixing this?I have tried using the sync simulator option is orbx central. Thank you.
  8. Hi, I have been trying to clear up some space on my c drive and low and behold I copied the contents of the documents folder to my desktop and moved the original documents folder to my d drive to make some space. I went to move it back later in the evening and realised the default c/users/documents/ folder was deleted. I stioll have the contents of the folder including the p3d Add ons folder, but my p3dv4.5 is now giving a scenery config error on startup for the few sceneries that were installed using the add ons document folder method. I wonder could someone help about what I should do? Its a couple of UK2000 sceneries that are in the scenery config messsages, I have deleted them from the scenery library and was going to reinstall them, but what if there is no default p3d add ons folder in c/user/documents/ for when the installer wants to put them there? Please help, I fear I've messed something up bad. P3d still starts fine otherwise and other sceneries like flytampa EKCH and LGKR work well. Thank you.
  9. Hi, sorry, this question may have been discussed already, but as far as I found under a different understanding. Particularly our mate martinlest2 has posted back in 2008, but somehow the original text seems to have been disappeared and generally these old threads are hard to read due to strange formatting. http://forums1.avsim.net/topic/235923-dealing-with-out-of-memory-errors/?hl=martinlest2 So this is my Problem. I have read many times that the Scenery.cfg has a limitation of thousand (=999) entries. Recently I had OOMs in my sim at a flight Tbilisi-Dubai without finding a cause, I only assumed that AI traffic could have been the culprit. It was the first time I had OOMs, though I never applied the 3GByte patch as I have never had had OOMs before. I had particularly done this flight already in spring without any problems. I then found a test scenario (placing my a/c at OMDB (FlyTampa), changing to EDDF (Aerosoft), changing back to OMDB) which caused this OOM very reliably. When I disabled my heavy AI traffic, OOM didn't occur so I still believed it was a AI traffic problem. With AI traffic active again, I then deinstalled some sceneries which had no geographical relation to the OOM-plagued sceneries. These which I removed were mostly older sceneries which I either never visited or which weren't up to todays standard anymore. The important thing is, my sim worked proper for years with these sceneries. I "merged" other sceneries into one scenery area; I did so especially with meshes. So I brought my Scenery.cfg from 713 down to 684 entries. Guess what happened: Now the OOM was gone even with full traffic at least with my test scenario; I repeated the test several times always having no OOM (a dedicated long haul test flight will follow). So my question is if there are experiences with too many entries in Scenery.cfg causing FS2004 to behave heavy and causing OOMs. Is there a certain limit below the known limitation of 999 entries, depending on PC specs and OS? Any thoughts were helpful. Perhaps martinlest2 can step in and recapitulate his thoughts or add new experiences. Note: I wrote some words about this problem in my recent thread "OOM and CTD at Dubai" but it seems this question should be asked in a dedicated thread because the other thread concentrates on fault finding regarding to AI traffic or a particular scenery. Thanks in advance and best regards Harald
  10. There's new version of the Scenery Config Editor. It's now at version 1.1.2 and released on 30 Sep. Might fix some of the problems with setting up groups of scenery to load for a flight. Best regards, Jim
  11. On FSX Startup and on saving Scenery Library settings, I get an error message saying "SCENERY.CFG file error. Invalid remote scenery path in scenery area 130." However, when I check my scenery.cfg file, it stops at Area.120. I do have more than 120 items in my scenery library, though, and the 130th is Base 206, but I got the same message when before I added a bunch of scenery, so #130 was something else before, and I still got the error message. Any ideas? Thanks, boeing247 (by the way, I think this was caused by installing some ORBX freeware that includes YCEM Clearwater)

Hi,Since I have installed FlightSimulator on C:FSX (which is an SSD) but the programdata folder is on D: (which is an HDD) everytime I want to install scenery it will try to locate the scenery.cfg on my C: drive instead of my D: drive. Now I always have to manually add the scenery in FSX itself. Does anyone know how to solve this? It's getting very annoying!!Kind regards,DanielEdit: I have Windows 7 home 64bit
  13. Hello everyone, my ftx central v3 is always messing up the order of my scenery entries in the scenery.cfg file. now i'd like to know in which order the orbx/ftx products need to placed in order for them to work properly. My order that i have is: FTXAA_ORBXLIBS FTX_AA_GLOBAL_AIRPORTS FTX_AA_LSGK ORBX!OPENLC_SAMERICA1 ORBX!OPENLC_EUROPE1 ORBX!OPENLC_NAMERICA1 ... ... ORBX!VECTOR_OBJ ORBX!VECTOR_APT ORBX!VECTOR_CVX ORBX!VECTOR_EXX (1107 Base) ... (0000 Base) ORBX!VECTOR_AEC Default Scenery im actually quite sure that this order isnt correct because if i disbale for example ORBX!OPENLC_SAMERICA1 in my scener editor in p3d i don't see any changes in the scenery or texture or mesh or whatever in south america. thanks for any help
