I've had fsx with SP1 SP2 and acceleration running on my HP Envy with windows 8 fine for the past few months. There was some crashing at the start but it stopped after I did the UIAutomationcore.dll fix. Since then it was all fine, but then 2 days ago my PC did an annoying automatic update for windows 8. When i tried starting fsx, the start screen came up for about 3 mins then a fatal error message appeared. I've tried over and over again to fix it. I uninstalled addons i added right before this, updated my drivers, repaired acceleration, changed the folder permissions, and repeated the UIAutomationcore.dll fix in case it reset. NONE OF THEM WORKED. Many forums recommended a complete reinstall, but i have a huge amount of addons that i do not feel like reinstalling, too (plus many of them are hard to find again). On top of that, some people said reinstalling doesnt work, so i dont want to spend all that time just to find out fsx still crashes. I REPEAT: A REINSTALL IS THE LAST RESORT. To find out what was causing it i ran it with appcrashview, but i cant make sense of it (im not familiar with programming). Out of the blue, FS9 refuses to start. The splash screen flashes a fraction of a second, then FS9 closes. There is no BSOD, no error message, no event in the Windows event log. It seems to just exit cleanly. The task mgr shows FS running for a couple of seconds. I have made no (known) changes to my FS since my last flight. What I have tried: - restore Windows to a point prior to my last good flight - disabled all non-stock sceneries (although it does not get as far as renewing the scenery index) - deleted FS9.cfg. A new one is indeed generated but with 0 bytes. - removed SweetFX - run another FS9.exe that I had backed up when installing the 4GB patch - malware scans My next step is to try in Safe Mode... if I am ever able to access Safe Mode in W7! So, I'm new to the PMDG 737 and have been trying to follow the manual but have already hit a snag. In the manual to go from cold and dark it says to use the FMC and load the cold and dark state. I do so, and get the green initialization bar at the top of the screen, but the FMC doesn't come back. It stays blank and I can't use it afterwards. What could be wrong here? Thanks -- Alexander

Hi! I am having problems starting the Nemeth Designs/MilViz Ch-47 Chinook . I have read through the manual to find out how to start this bird but it never seems to happen :( . The engines *DO* start-up but there is no rotation from the blades what-so-ever (Even with the ECL in GND Mode). Could someone please explain to me how to start-up this helicopter or any kind of tutorial would be appreciated! Kriss :t4012:

Whenever I start the engines on the PMDG 777, both engines start normaly. But when i try to advance the throttle setting, only one engine produces the selected amount of power. The physical throttles both appear to be moving. Would appreciate help! ^_^

I am trying to challenge myself in this... I've already watched a few videos on doing this, but, when on the overhead panel, trying to turn on ground power, the button is just blank with no sign on it... Just plain blank... Here's the steps... I turned on battery, then, put standby pwr to auto... And then turned on all of the bus ties and the gen cont... I then tried to turn the knob under the sign saying sys fault to aux, but the sign didn't go away... I ignored it, but then, I eventually figured out I had to turn on ground power... There is no white mark appearing on the switch... It's totally unavailable... I do have parking brakes on, but found it not helpful... Please help... Anybody!!! Thanks

I'm mainly runnig FSX and using Nvidia Inspector v1.9.6.8. Can I disable the Nvidia Display Driver Service to free up some resources? It's default setting is "automatic" in windows services. If so should I disable it from msconfig or services.msc?

Hi, Hopefully this hasn't been asked but maybe it has. Is there any way to remove the "New Activities" stuff each time I launch MSFS? We only need to know this is "new" once and for someone like me who never does landing challenges or bush flights or all that stuff, it's not important. Happy to see what's new once only, and then just load up the sim quickly for me. One the plus side I'm glad to see now each time you touch your community folder you don't have to rebuild a scenery.cfg file...

Hey guys! I just bought the 747-400X Queen of the Skies expansion pack for FSX and till now I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I start my flights at gate with the jets off and I do a startup but I have no idea what exactly I need to do! After takeoff, I can't switch on the autopilot! Can you please help me figure out what exactly I need to do when starting up the aircraft and what I need to do so that my autopilot works? Thanks a lot! Thenewpilot

I have some issues with the normal procedures document in the C90 GTX and the lack of documentation makes me uncertain if it is just not modelled or if I am doing something wrong. * When I check the voltages at the overhead after battery start it is always the same (just below 20 volts) which is not enough according to the normal procedures. * Also when I then close the gen bus I still don't get any volts from the generator circuit as the manual says that I would. * There is also no lights for [Gen Tie Man Close] or otherwise in startup where there is supposed to be. Is this just not modelled or am I doing something wrong?

Just want to check in and see if anyone else has reported the same condition since installing SP1 for the 777-200LR. Each time I initially load the 777-200LR at any airport (default of 3rd party), my frames and smoothness suffer for a period of around 2-3 minutes. After that period of time elapses, everything goes back to normal in terms of frames and smoothness and no stuttering. This has only happened since installing SP1. This is a dedicated FSX machine, and I have not installed any other software or made any changes to FSX or the PC prior to, or since installing SP1. It seems to me that there is a process or series of processes occurring in FSX's background that are causing this drop and lack of smoothness during the initial 2-3 minute startup at the gate. I have been using the default PMDG startup -> ie: engines ON at the gate. PS: It's not a huge deal breaker, as I have adapted to the situation by just waiting out the 2-3 minutes until everything settles back (ie sit at gate) into normal again. SP1 otherwise has been absolutely phenomenal......utterly pleased with it.

hi to everybody!i'm new of this forum.i have this problem with 737-800WL NGX :when i go to start engine 2 first (as from procedure)the percentage of N2 remains to 18.1% instead of reaching 25% to make the engine start.i also get a LOW OIL PRESSURE on the EFIS panel...is it normal or this signal exstinguishes after the engine starts??i follow 100% checklist procedures.may you help me please??? sorry if i made mistakes with english but isn't my languagethanks in advance guys, regards!!!!!

Could someone tell me how to load the 737 NGX in cold and dark? I made a save of it in this state and made it default but the "initialising" green bar thing starts up the plane anyway. I found out that you can load the plane through the "addons" tab however I have never had this tab and cannot seem to make it appear. Any help much apprieciated!!!

Hello! This is my first post on the avsim forums and unfortunately it has to be a CTD! I have been using FSX for over a year now with very few problems, I have various addons such as Airbus X, Several Aerosoft and flyTampa sceneries and quite a few freeware sceneries. I also have the saitek throttle quadrant and Logitech extreme 3D Joystick, so as you can see I have invested quite a lot of money into flightsim. So, the problem first started about a week ago when I flew from Gatwick to Frankfurt and back in the Airbus X, when I was back at Gatwick I set up for another flight up to Edinburgh and took off. After about 10 minutes I got a fatal error message and fsx crashed. I was dissapointed, I had thought that my fatal errors had been fixed but evidently not. I restarted and FSX loaded the `Free flight menu' and fatal errored again, it now does this every time I start it. I have no idea what the problem is, let alone how to fix it! So I have scoured the internet and tried the following: .-Running the repair option on disk 1. -Deleting the FSX.CFG. -Deleting the Logbook.bin. -Renaming addon scenery. -Removing addon aircraft. -Defragmenting I have also ran appcrashview and the exeption code provided was 0x0000005 which I am lead to believe is something to do with memory? I am really, really, really hoping to avoid a reinstall here. I would be so grateful to anybody that can offer any help or advise regarding this, Thanks!
