  1. Searching through old threads, it doesn't seem taxiing has been discussed much lately. Anyone have any new ideas on how best to do this in RadarContact. I'm new to the program. I see there is a program called fsx dbs airport gps. Does anyone like this program? It doesn't seem to be widely used at this time. What alternatives are there. Where do I turn FSX atc back on for progressive taxi? Any help is appreciated. Best, Matt
  2. Hey Gang I have been around and have flown the King Air Line, as a Line Captain for Charter Companies and for Private Companies. BE350 to the C, E, and B 90s and they are absolutely top of the line when it comes to corporate turbo props. So, in efforts to get re-acquainted with the layout, I thought I would grab a copy of Carenado's B200. At first, I had to say I was a little disapointed. It seemed there was quite a bit missing and such. However, I started to think.. Maybe it's the doof in the chair instead of the developers at Carenado. Hmm. Yep I proved myself right it was me. That said, getting the SP2 installed is a must. The out of the box copy really is filled with errors that they corrected. Reading another Real World pilot's post, someone commented that he should look what he paid for the FSX model and look at the price tag of the actual aircraft. I had to laugh at that. GREAT POINT. So. My findings are, once I got the aircraft tuned in to my less than professional setup, things started to come together. I happen to have a few tips that I will put up over on tips and tricks but thought I would put them here as well. First, if you are here, and you do NOT have a registered copy of FSUIPC... Well, uh... Wasting a lot of really missed opportunity to enjoy FSX in a very rich environment. Go grab it. What I noticed getting started was Carenado did such a great job it was really like saying hello to an old friend. I was amazed that almost every switch was modeled and works quite well so no need to cover that too much. I'd say it is really nice to see lights working, AutoFX test that works. Govenor Test that works etc Props and Governors The only critique I would give them is on their Propeller Governors. They seemed to have modeled some old 1960's era Bonanza or Piper something or another. King Air Governors simply do not "wobble" as they do in this model. SMOOTH is the order of the day. S m o o t h. King Air Governors do not go in and out and in and out of a particular pitch stop as they do in this model. If they did, it would be a major write up and I'd be bending a mechanics ear almost off to get it fixed. Their T210 does the same thing. They really need to fix that. Thottles. At first I was disappointed in the lack of responsiveness. THAT was me. Not Carenado. I finally got it about right via my X52 and FSUIPC. HERE are the numbers. Joy Assignment Throttle 1 Throttle 2 Send to FSUIPC Joy Calibration (Axis Calibration) (Page 3 of 11) Reverse: -14480 Idle: -10449 (in and out) Max: 11223 Slope: -8 Check the Filter Box I have found that this mix of numbers give me the most realistic responsive and travel distance I can get. This allows you to "reach reverse" (nicely) as well as having the power lever (throttle) hit the proper locations on the throttle quadrant. This particular range also gives a very nice taxi "creep" if you will. GIVEN, you have the ICE VANES deployed, AND you have the CONDITION LEVERS at HIGH IDLE. This test was done at Gross Weight too. So as you get lighter you will have to move more towards ground fine. The -8 Slope allows for a much faster spool up and spool down. When it comes to taxi of well ANY turboprop but especially the King Air 200, 300, or 350, you have to keep in mind that there is JET THRUST being generated. I will let you look that up if interested but it is substantial. You have to balance that with Torque and Prop RPM to get the thrust needed for a nice taxi. So patience is the order of the day. This is not a recip. Takes a little skill to taxi these. Without burning up the brakes that is. Well I hope this helps. I hope to find more as I keep flying this. If you are reading this trying to figure out whether to buy or not. I would give this one in particular a serious thought. The other King Air B200s out there are not really indicative of what is actually out there flying today.
  3. So I have noticed a little quirk with VoxATC that is a bit annoying. Sometimes it is spot on and sometimes it is so off the mark that it has almost killed my virtual plane. One thing it seems to get consistently wrong is the altimeter settings while on the ground. You tune into the ATIS and the green ticker starts scrolling across the top and the ticker will say Altimeter 30.08 but VoxATC will say "Altimeter 29.96" (or any number of numbers that don't match the ATIS green strip). If you have FSX ATC turned on and listen to their ATIS read back at the same time as VoxATC, FSX ALWAYS gets the Altimeter right on the strip but VoxATC is hit and miss. As the METAR data is all coming in from the exact same place, why does VoxATC have problems getting this right? VoxATC is also bad at wind directions. Twice now, while my Avilasoft EFB has said "Winds favor a 22" departure" and I create my flight plan to depart on Runway 22 (El Paso International in this example), I've pushed back from the gate and asked for taxi to the active and VoxATC is like, "Taxi to runway 4 via blahblahblah" I am like @_@ But.. but... ALL the airport traffic is taxing to runway 22... why do you want me to taxi to the exact opposite end of the runway you daffy *(%&@*%& controller!? Are you trying to kill me!? It has done this at several other airports. I file a flight plan with departures based on the wind direction being fed in by NOAA data and it gives me the wrong damn runway. Don't get me started on a STAR approach in which it wants to take me 50 miles out of the pattern to sequence me. The last several airport approaches I've had to disable VoxATC on the approach because the controller is giving me crazy instructions that I refuse to follow and the AI controller won't shutup. I love VoxATC but the wrong altimeter and wrong runways are annoying. Anyone found a work around this or know why it is doing this in the first place? I use FS Passengers X with all procedures turned on and this incorrect Altimeter settings cost me points on my final score 50% of the time.
  4. im having this issue when taxing, where a plane behind me will be stop by the ATC like 100 ft behind me. i just re-installed FSX and i dont know what is causing this.
  5. This likely my inexperience with this propjet and maybe propjets in general, but though I seem to do well enough in other areas of control, I am having difficulty in controlling spool up to achieve reasonable taxi speeds. I am using a CH yoke (with built in levers) and only with holding my breath each time can I move the throttle slightly enough to manage the spool up and hold in a good taxi range. I am moving the condition levers to low position. Any ideas on where to go to alleviate this challenge? Thanks BobD
  6. I am using a older joystick but everything works fine expect I cant turn when I taxi. I move joystick left and right and it just goes strait. Can someone please help me on this. Thanks
  7. Hi Everyone, First I do apologise if this has been discussed previously, but I cannot seem to find some direct answers regarding this beautiful aircraft. So please don't bash me! I fly the PMDG 737-800 NGX with FS2Crew sound on Vatsim. I have 3 questions: 1- When taxing from gate to runway or vice versa, I do have the charts, but it gets a bit unclear if you are on the default airport and at night, is there any add on that can help? Apart from buying airport add on, something that could say you enter the taxi ways and it kind of directs you like a GPS or something? What do you guys usually do, only printed charts? 2- Planning.. I have only been properly flying few routes, I tried Sim Routes but it doesn't have all the routes, Is there any tutorials I can find/buy to get more details about routes and waypoints? I like the tutorial 1 that came with PMDG, very clear, EGKK - EHAM. 3- This is pretty random, say you are at FL 230, could you get wind speed up to 98knots? Again I do apologise if the has been discussed before (which am sure it has).. I do appreciate any input. Khaled
  8. Hi all.In my NGX, I experience that I need to keep the thrust up at just benath 30% N1 in order to maintain taxi speed, even at calm winds and with a moderately loaded aircraft. I also find that there's a very slight margin between maintaining the speed, losing a lot of speed, and gaining way too much. This does not concur with my observations at the jump seat, as there's rarely need for anything but idle thrust once the aircraft is rolling. I also browsed through the FCTM and found this sentence under Chapter 2: "Idle thrust is adequate for taxiing under most conditions. A slightly higher thrust setting is required to begin taxiing.".So now I'm curious: Is this something that happens with everyone, is it a bug for a select few (or only me?), and in any case; are there any plans to improve/fix this? And just to make it clear that I'm not here to whine and nothing else, I want to salute the PMDG team for making such an extrordinary add-on, the issue mentioned above is one of the veeeery few things that I've found to be one or two percent off, and it's quite a minor thing as well. Cheers!
  9. Guys, After a complete new install of fsx and all addons (2 days later) I managed to do two flights. Bowermann to Reno and Reno to KLAS. I had real world weather with AS Evo. My issue is that both times after landing and taxiing to parking the taxiing of the plane becomes squirelly (sorry best word I can use to describe), it becomes almost impossible to taxi. I did an autoland and manual visual landing and both times this happens. Is this a known issue? I don't think I broke anything as Airhauler shows vs at touchdown at about -100. Cheers, Eddie

  12. Hi All, I wish you a Merry Christmas and safe flying I have recently encountered a strange issue on my P3Dv2 which I have been using for over 2 months - all runway and taxi lights have gone missing since a few days earlier. Airport lights are missing even on default sceneries. I haven't change settings of P3D and install/uninstall sceneries before the issue happens. I am wondering if anybody could advise on possible cause of this and if there's anything which I should try to fix this? You may download 2 screenshots which show the issue from the link below. http://imageshack.com/a/img673/1928/90LkJZ.png http://imageshack.com/a/img901/862/HWFTDt.png My PC specs: i7-4770K @ 4.3GHz DDR3 1600MHz 16GB (8+8) Gigabyte GTX770 2GB 240GB SSD for OS, P3Dv2 installed on another 240GB SSD, plus 1TB mechanical HDD for storage Corsair CX750M PSU Major addons installed: Orbx FTX Global Base Orbx FTX Global Vector REX4 Texture Direct Taxi2Gate VHHH FSDT LAX, KJFKv2, KORD UK2000 Heathrow Xtreme FlyTampa Boston ImagineSim WSSS Mega Airport Frankfurt AeroSim RJFF, RJBB Regards, Alan
  13. Hi all! this is my first post here I hope its in the right place. Got to thank the AMAZING flight simmer community for tons and tons of valuable info that has enhanced my FSX experience in the last couple weeks since I got my hands on the software. Found the following resource for configuring camera views and just had to create some 'approach/taxi' cam views that I felt was sorely missing. Not for the hardcore simmers preference of viewing the world from inside the confines of your virtual cockpit, but for training I wanted views that showed a rear camera/front facing/top down angle of the whole aircraft and the land below (the default tail view doesnt do that for me). http://www.fstipsand...sx-cameras.html I have apended 4 views to the cameras.cfg file (found in same FSX folder the fsx.cfg is located in), as well as enabling the hidden AI aircraft views and disabling 2 of the tower views I never used. Feel free to backup you cameras.cfg file and try my own file (right click cameras.cfg/left click copy/right click in directory/left click paste - then open cameras.cfg and delete all text replacing with the complete cfg version below), or just add the views onto the end of the file, making sure the cameradefinition.xx numbers are unique (by default they should be if you havent edited the file before). Here is the complete cfg file that I now use followed by just the additions I made for these extra views if you just want to add them. I put some time in making them all work with the default aircraft in FSX so I think you will find them very useful ********************************complete cameras.cfg file******************************************* [CameraDefinition.001] Title = Cockpit Guid = {B1386D92-4782-4682-A137-738E25D1BAB5} Description = This is the description of the cockpit view Origin = Cockpit ShowPanel = Yes SnapPbhAdjust = Ordinal SnapPbhReturn = True PanPbhAdjust = Ordinal PanPbhReturn = True Track = None ShowAxis = FrontOnly AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = 1.0 SmoothZoomTime = 2.0 ShowWeather = Yes XyzAdjust = TRUE ShowLensFlare=FALSE Category = Cockpit HotKeySelect=2 [CameraDefinition.002] Title = Virtual Cockpit Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078} Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view. 14. Hi guys, I'm new to this AVSIM community and I have a couple of questions. I love planes, however, I haven't been able to successfully fly one in a flight simulator. As a teenager, I want to be a pilot when I grow up, so this is important to me. I have a Mac with Windows 7 on Boot Camp, and I have Flightgear on my Mac partition and FSX Acceleration on my Windows partition. After I upgraded to 10.8 on my mac, FG stopped working, so I turned to FSX on Windows. I love it, and I really want to learn how to fly. I have been using the tutorials, but finding extremely hard to taxi and navigate in general with the keyboard. In fact, it is impossible for me. When landing, I can't even line up with the runway and when taxiing, I apply too much power and go in crazy circles. My parents have offered to buy me the Saitek X52 Flight System for Christmas, and from what I see it looks amazing. My questions are: 1. I'm a lefty, but I've never used a joystick before. I think using it in my right hand would be no problem, considering there's no feel I'm used to already. Will this be ok? 2. Will getting the X52 significantly help me learn how to fly? I heard that FSX is nearly impossible with a keyboard and a joystick makes all the difference. 3. Are there any other lessons than the base tutorials they offer for me to download that will help me understand planes better? I don't understand some basic functions, like how to start the engines and what the function of flaps are. Thank you everybody so much in advance! I hope to get help from the FSX geniuses themselves Thanks -RF
  15. Hi, I have run into a odd situation.CH Flightsim Yoke and CH Rudder Pedals (calibrated)FSX AccelerationNO FSUIPC installed:Aircraft 800WL @ MaxGWI have to give around 39% N1 to get the aircraft moving, and have to keep 35-36% N1 to hold taxi, anything less then she runs to a stop. FSUIPC Installed, ONLY Brakes calibrated with FSUIPC -7008 ; 8160Now I only need to add 25% N1 to start taxi and 23% N1 to hold taxi. What am I doing wrong with the NO FSUIPC installed problem, or does the plane need around 36 - 40% N1 to taxi at MaxGW? Thanks
  16. Hello all! I am trying to fly with the PMDG 737 and when i try to taxi to the runway it seems that it does half left or half right not complete even though my joystick is completley turned left or right. i have recalibrated and autorudder is enabled. It happens with all aircraft's such as PMDG, A2A and default. Am using P3D V4.2 Thanks!
  17. Does anyone have any suggestions how I could have the parking brakes "disconnected" from my normal toe brakes (I am using ch pro pedals) as they are pretty sensitive and make the parking brakes pop off all the time? Thats pretty annoying. Otherwise my brakes work ok, no problems with rto or autobrakes etc.. Kaj Ekström
  18. Hello, a little while ago i was able to taxi using the aircraft using nose wheel steering, but now, for some reason it doesnt work. I have nose wheel steering enabled, but the only thing that works in the aircraft on the ground are the rudders (which dont work well for taxi) and the elevators. P.S. I have Spoiler Axis selected in the controls panel which was suggested but MS. Thanks!
  19. Hi! There's a freeware Euro Atlantic 777 by POSKY and ricardo_tv I downloaded a while ago, and I noticed how amazing the landing lights/taxi lights are. I mean, they look like they belong on a payware aircraft! Is there someway I can use this lighting for other aircraft as well? The default ones on some planes look awful, and are a bit dark. If that's not possible, is there a way to brighten the default lights at least? Thanks ~topgearuk98
