Not sure where this belongs, but both are under the P3D v4.5HF2 umbrella... I have been playing around with "turbulence" settings in Chase Plane and Active Sky. When I have AS turbulence set high the aircraft is a real vomit-comet - moving all over the place, left to right, up and down, and it matches what I have seen in "bad" weather scenarios in real life. However, it seems excessive during normal weather. Chase Plane, on the other hand, is much more "bump your butt up and down" type of turbulence, and from what I remember flying with my Dad in GA aircraft, a bit more realistic. However, I think we only went flying on nice days so this could be best case. What is the more realistic effect, in the opinion of people who fly real GA airplanes? AS or CP? If you have a chasing wind of 30 knots would you be in a vomit-comet or just bumping your butt? Side wind, yeah - going to be bumpy. Probably a blend of the two, no doubt... 🙂

1. Hello. Does anyone know if there are any good/compatible soundset addons for the pmdg 737? Allthough its a great addon and generally I think the sound enviroment is cool I would sometimes like to here some "shaking and squeething" sounds in the cocpit for example when penetrating rough turbulence? I think in real world turbulence causes that kind of sounds (at least in the passenger cabin:)). 2. Another question regardin flying through turbulence: What would be the correct procedure? If there is heavy turbulence and airspeed bounces, should I disconnect the autothrottle and maintain manually a little bit slower airspeed? How much slower? (I use AS2012 for weather) Thanks!

Is there some logic on the 737-800 ngx fail-operational land3 autoland that makes it disconnect if there is too much drift from the ils on the final or for example coming in too fast/slow due wind shear or in other cases making the approach unstable? I played around yesterday putting some heavy weather to my sim using Activesky 2012. I set up crosswin of 25-30kts, heavy windshear and turbulence just to see how the autoland handles it. Though a bumpy ride, the approach went pretty good but about 200ft agl there was heavy change in windspeed increasing my ias from desired 142 to 158, soon after the LAND3 mode disconnected and I ended up flying the plane manually.. Any explanation for this? I always thought that after LAND3 has engaged its (almost) impossible to get it disconnected the only method being pulling the A/P disconnect bar or pushing TO/GA switch.. Thanks!

Hello All Not sure if anyone of you have had the same issue as I have had. While I use AS2012 (an amazing weather programme) it does not give me the maps and data which an airline pilot would normally have access to. I have come across a website which looks to have a bucket load of information about weather, possible turbulence and it covers areas outside the USA. Most importantly the site overlays weather information over North Atlantic Tracks (updated daily as are the tracks). Here is the link http://www.turbulenceforecast.com/ Hope you find it as helpful as I have over the past few days with planning my flights and knowing when I am going to hit the bad stuff during one of those long haul flights. Kimberly Richmond-Jones Ps. I have no connection or affiliation to the above listed website.

Even if I usually appreciate Kyle's massages, in this case I tend partly to disagree ("no S-turns" is okay for me). Due to the fact that I bought the T7 I decided to upgrade my AS2012 to Active Sky NEXT in order to enjoy the weather radar function. However, since I'm using ASN I'm experiencing quite often landing situations with my PMDG 737NGX, neither me nor the autopilot are able to cope with. It's always the same: At short final just a second or two before the upcoming touch-down the aircraft rolls immediately clockwise in a quite unrealistic way. The necessary moment of inertia shouldn't allow such a move - else I never would fly again in reality. Even if I'm alerted there is in most cases no time or even the slightest chance to react (autolanding does show the same effects and the a/p is overstrained, too). I have no turbulence effects turned on in FSX, FSUIPC is set to smoothen turbulences, ASN has the same settings as I used in AS2012 (10% for max wind shear and wake turbulence strenght), and there are no aircraft that could cause wake effects in front of me and if so I would know how to deal with the flight path. Any advice or recommended settings that would allow effects reflecting a bit better the reality would be appreciated. BTW, as far as I understand some contributions in the AS forum, there are some other aircraft (e.g. the buses of Aerosoft) having problems as well, others are unaffected.

Trying to fly the 172 G1000 and the aircraft bobbles too much as if there is turbulence but there is not, so not sure what could be causing this.

Yesterday when I was landing the pmdg 737-800ngx using autoland the autopilot suddenly disconnected just after the flare and touchdown. I had everything set up correctly, land 3 annunciated, vref + 5 etc, I did not apply force to control columns either. It started the flare correctly at about 50ft, and just after touchdown the nose suddenly pitched up and made the aircraft bounce. It was like it would have toggled the go-around mode itself??The the A/P disconnection warning sounded. The A/P disconnection could have been because at the moment of the sudden pitch-up I reactively pushed forward on the stick to keep the aircraft on the runway. I believe there is a override function when you apply enough force on the columns? I was flying online using squawkbox. Ive had this problem once before, that was also when flying online.. Never when flying offline though.. Anyone else with this weird uncommanded G/A mode activation problem? (Btw I have the fail op seleceted in the pmdg CDU menu)

Hello. My problem is that I cannot experience overcast conditions at high altitudes. For example when cruising at 37000 feet I go to "set wx" menu and try adding cloud layers with high base eg. 39000 or 33000 feet oe whatever and setting big thickness value it doesnt create them. It is always the same. I can see the nightsky and stars clearly every time climbing pass around 14000-17000 feet. I know there are high altitude thunderstorms that cant be flown over in real life, why cant I simulate one in as2012? Everything works fine at low altitudes (below about 14000 feet). Am I doing something wrong with the settings? Using DWC, flying PMDG ngx. Anyone? Thanks! Kaj Ekström

I know in the past PMDG aircraft haven't exaclty played nice with turbulence in FSX (the "S" turn issue). I am wondering if this has been resolved for the T7 or is there a work around that I am not aware of to make it play nice?

Hello, I notice that when I use the tiller (assign separate from rudder in FSUIPC, with PMDG 737 and 777),the anticipation turbulence effect doesn't work, it only work if I use the rudder to turn the airplane on the ground. Is there a way to make the anticipation effect works with tiller only? Or will it be an option in the next update? Thank you. Hoang Le
