Hello Everyone, I need some help on choosing the best monitor in market for P3D V4. Between a 4k and an ultrawide (21:9) with 1440p resolution, which would bring the best immersion and performance? I´m thinking of buying a 34" display with a refresh rate greater than 100Hz and G-sync technology (I have a GTX 1070). Is there any other spec that I should include in my search? Perhaps response time? From my research I´ve learned that performance with a 4k resolution isn´t affected drastically since P3D´s engine is mostly CPU bound. Is this true? Will I see a lot of difference between 4k and 1440p? Does a 21:9 aspect ratio has big benefits over a 16:9 with regards to immersion? Please help... Release of UHD Mesh Scenery v4 for X-Plane 11 UHD Mesh Scenery v4 can be seen as a vastly improved version of the default scenery shipping with XP11. It is using/referencing the exact same set of artwork files (textures, object, autogens, forests) which ship with XP11, so you do not need other art assets to be installed while UHD Mesh Scenery v4 will also benefit from any artwork improvements (autogen, texture) coming with future XP11 versions. General Characteristics of UHD Mesh Scenery v4 are identical to those of HD Mesh Scenery v4 (you can read those on its own page). The advantages of UHD Mesh Scenery v4 are: Uses 30m DEM data (instead of 90m DEMs)! Landclass data for some areas (USA West, Europe Alps, Europe Pyrenees, Japan, New Zealand) was re-created with very high resolution (compared to the data used in HD Mesh Scenery v4) resulting in even better landclass representation. The triangle mesh resolution a lot higher than in HD Mesh Scenery v4: this give - obviously - even better representation of the 30m DEM data (slopes, mountains etc.) BUT this also vastly(!) improves the landclass data representation (which in X-Plane is very closely coupled with the triangle size in the mesh). This is most obvious with forest detail. OSM data is updated (its "date stamp" is 10th January 2018) . Which makes it newer than the data in UHD Mesh Scenery v4. Coverage New Zealand Japan Europe - Pyrenees Europe - Alps Europe - Scandinavia USA - West (3 files, 1/2/3) Canada - West (3 files, 1/2/3) Important Warnings! The scenery requires at least X-Plane 11.00 !!! IT WILL NOT WORK WITH X-Plane 10.xx! 32 GBytes of RAM are highly recommended (64 GBytes are optimal)! Some areas might work with 16 GBytes of RAM too, but there it is very likely you will quickly run into some OOM issues! Official Site All other (continuously updated) information, download links and important instructions can be found on the official UHD Mesh Scenery v4 Site: http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-11-uhd-mesh-scenery-v4/ Please read the instructions carefully, as not following them might result in a broken installation! Screenshots Here are the official screenshots accompanying the release of UHD Mesh Scenery v4. Just follow the links to my Google Photos albums: UHD Mesh Scenery v4 (for X-Plane 11) Have Fun!

Some of you might have already read about it here or there: UHD Mesh Scenery v4 Although this is NOT RELEASED yet, I thought it would be time to show you a bunch of - more or less - final screenshots of some of the finished regions: Alps / Pyrenees (Europe) Japan New Zealand USA West (everything west of 104°W!) As always, UHD Mesh will use high resolution elevation data (30m DEMs from various sources) and at least for the above mentioned regions also some specially tuned high resolution landclass data (compared to HD Mesh). The exact release date is still unknown, because I have still not finished - but at least planned - Canada West and Scandinavia (how, or how much they will be covered will have to be seen). But I aim for sometime spring 2018 (but again, no guarantees). Now, this way you can head over to the quite extensive (already 187 pics) album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/0SC8UmRvs0OkJcQX2 And here are a few appetizers:

As of today, the UHD Mesh Scenery v1 series has a new region: Japan The main differences (and improvements, compared to HD Mesh Scenery) are: High resolution DEM elevation data. Based on the AW3D (© JAXA) 30m data, and where AW3D has holes, filled up with SRTM 1sec (30m) data. Latest landclass data based on the "AVNIR-2 high-resolution land use land cover map 2016 February release (version 16.02)" (© JAXA) Massively increased mesh density ... by roughly factor 2.5 to 3! This is not only beneficiary to the better representation of the higher res DEM data, but also - once more - improves landclass and forest detail! Because of this, the "UHD Mesh Scenery v1" Scenery is very heavy on hardware resources and will only run smoothly on modern, higher end PCs. Its very important - before even considering a download - to have at least 16 GBytes of RAM and a modern / powerful GPU! Detailed infos and download links are here: http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-uhd-mesh-scenery-v1/ There is also a "release video" on youtube, to give you a impression about what to expect: If you are - only - looking for comparison screenshots, here are the official ones accompanying the release of UHD Mesh Scenery v1 - Japan. Just follow the link to my Google Photos album: UHD Mesh Scenery v1 - Japan (most screenshots in the first part of the album come in pairs - they are comparisons between UHD and HD quality! The first of each pair is HD, the second UHD - but there are also caption for each picture to make this clear)
