  1. Hi Guys! I have longed for an authentic trip around the world in a flight simulator for a very long time. With the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, this dream has come true. And since the VR update, the level of realism has become very high and I often can't stop being amazed. Thanks to Microsoft and Asobo Studio. That's why I decided last year to start such a world tour. The tour will go across all continents and I will head for as many interesting landscapes and sights as possible on the way. I'm flying with a CubCrafters Xcub with 215 hp and an additional tank. Fortunately, I've also found someone who has been doing the tour with me in a Cirrus SR22 so far. We plan about 3-6 months for the entire tour and record all stages in the form of flight plans, reports and photos. For this reason I have created a website that should serve all interested parties to follow our flight around the world. I would be happy to inspire many other people for my project and to let them participate. Have a look at www.fs-worldtour.com and visit my Discord if you feel like it. https://discord.com/invite/FBzpyzd To a better year 2021 and stay healthy! ---Übersetzung in Deutsch/Translation to german--- Hallo Leute!

  4. Hellos, Anyone interested in testing my little project? I started making scenery for Macedonia few days ago, using OSM data. I still have lots of work to do, so if anyone is interested in testing it, and reporting back, i would be grateful. 5. Bonjour, I looking for an addon or scenery (FSX) which most reliable for VFR flying in Québec (Canada). In the other words I need an addon or scenery which is most relative for VFR navigation chart. It means that FSX should include at least all objects according VFR charts. Recently I tested Flight1 - Ultimate Terrain X: Canada (Scene) in general it is OK, according lakes, rivers it great. But surprisely, for example, during flight I didn't find wind farm fields according my waypoints. Also in comparing with Google earth the Ultimate Terrain X somethimes includes an small villages, objects (homes, buildings). In some cases the Ultimate Terrain has not big objects like bid schools with several baseball, soccer, football fields. May be I need to add something to Ultimate Terrain? Any suggestions are wellcome!
  6. Hello everyone, I am trying to "simulate" air taxi service between tropical islands. This is short and great way to flight However, i would like to make a proper and well-planned flight, since i am going to do it online on IVAO. My preferred A/C is DHC-6 Twin Otter. My departure is FSIA Mahe Island and arrival is FSPP Praslin. Well dep/arr is vicinity of Seychelles. There are many islands with small airports and airfields. My questions are below (i know there are too many!) 1- Should i go for IFR or VFR? Weather is almost always clear, wind is calm and visibility is good near Seychelles. How to decide? 2- How to select a cruising altitude for VFR? I read AIP/AIS of Seychelles, seems like its provide all information needed. Is that right way to start planning? 3- Is that possible to use ILS approach on VFR flight plan? Is this a VFR -> IFR or VFR -> VFR flight? 4- I am going to do same flight with Cessna 172. It does have all necessary equipment for IFR as far i know, so i can go for IFR, right? 5- I am little bit confused about terms IFR, VFR and Visual. Does Visual approach changes flightplan to VFR? As far i know, Visual Approach is a part of IFR. So flightplan should be stay same, right? Why and when Visual Approach needed? Is this possible to do Visual Approach on ILS runway? (Ignoring ILS and doing whole thing visually) So is this possible to do Visual Approach in VFR flight? What's the equivalent of Visual Approach in VFR? Or am i getting this completely wrong? As i understand, Viisual Approach is the VFR's itself. Because whole thing visual. So how about opposite scenerio? Can i use ILS approach on VFR? And does it changes flightplan to VFR->IFR? Any help and idea would be great. Thank you all.
  7. Been simming for sometime but, I mainly stick to ILS landings and when I do visual approaches it's usually to airports I'm familiar will. I run into problems on visual approaches and landings at airports I'm less familiar with. Obviously, ATC will guide me to a certain flight level but once the approval is given for landing I'm on my own. Don't really have problems lining up with the runway but, I always have issues with altitude. Question; is there a standard way to use the A/P (VNAV) on visual approaches? Just to help with altitude? I know about the FPM calculations but is that what your guys/gals do? Or, do you really just fly it by hand? If so, do you practice approaches and landings at particular airports you plan to fly to? If you're truly able to "wing it" what helpful advice can you give? Is it just practice, practice and more practice? What works for you?
  8. Hi people! I recently made a flight in Alaska Anchorage (AK24 to PAZK). I followed ANC (Anchorage) VOR/DME to get the location of PAZK. Is this IFR? Is this VFR? I (think I ) know what are both, and their differences, but this just seemed to be a hybrid of them both (does it exists?) Weather was 20NM visibility, few clouds at, say, 5000ft. strong crosswinds (~20nm)... so no visibility or icing problems. Any input from a RW pilot or somebody knowledgeable is appreciated. Cheers and happy flying! Nicolás
  9. To stay, at least, virtually current I benefit from IVAO ATC at Nantes tower and Nantes Approach. Objective: make a short VFR hops between Nantes (LFRS) and La Baule (LFRE)* I took the WB-Sim C172 and enjoy the real weather and time, here in France. *Free scenery : https://flightsim.to/file/960/lfre-la-baule-escoublac Skydemon (iPad) + or - planned route and GPS track: Leaving Nantes LFRS, Loire river on my right: There's a slight rain in front of us. Easy to get thru and my plan B is to avoid by the south or north. Two option worked: Light effects are still unbelievable in MSFS: Passing the bridge of St-Nazaire: And finally getting thru the light rain; Nantes Approach/SIV gave me wind and runway "in use", then I joined the left downwind for runway 11, doing my best to avoid villages (pic from iPad Skydemon): La Baule Bay and the swamp of Guérande on my upper right: As expected, south crosswind on runway 11: ... confirmed by the windsock once runway vaccated: Parked ready to refuel and find a place for the night: Awesome free scenery:https://flightsim.to/file/960/lfre-la-baule-escoublac
  10. Announcing FS Map Tool, a new mobile map utility for MS FS2020 which has just been released on the Apple App Store and will be available soon on Google Play, too. It's a simple yet effective external map utility that shows your current plane location on an interactive map, alongside other parameters such as speed, altitude and heading. Head over to www.fsmaptool.com for more info. I've made this in my spare time as a fun side project. Let me know if you have any issues or suggestions and ideas on how to improve the app. I'm open for feedback and happy to include new features wherever possible. Happy flying!
  11. Hello. I'm looking for a combined ATC and Traffic program for FSX. I fly mostly general aviation aircraft, vfr at the moment; but want something that can grow as my skills and hangar grow. I am looking for non-voice controlled ATC that is semi realistic and traffic that enters and follows patterns. I always fly out of KLND, a small town airport, and with FSX traffic all the way up I think I remember seeing one plane come in and land. I cannot seem to find a direction I want to pursue through my own research and would appreciate any input. Thank you.
  12. I trying to add custom waypoint to FSX/P3D database so we can use in the default GPS and also been able to create a flight plan with them. I have to use the vor because in Italy the vfr point name are much more longer then 5 character and I still have the problem with the ident in 5 character. I am wondering, if it is possible to create custom waypoint with other method but been able to create flightplan. Is it possible to change color of the vor icon or other navaid in the night version as the blu is not so clear on the map. Is the map inside of the gps a bitmap in the gauges or is coming from the 3d mesh of fsx? Thank' s for any input <Vor dme="TRUE" dmeOnly="TRUE" lat="45.7200001180172" lon="7.27000012993813" alt="1.0M" type="HIGH" frequency="108.000" range="12345.0M" magvar="0" region="LI" ident="MWW1" name="AOSTA WEST"> <!-- VFR reporting point --> <Dme lat="0" lon="0" alt="0.0M" range="12345.0M"/> </Vor>
  13. Greetings, This is not meant to be instructive, by any measure. Instead, I hope to convey some of the ... ahem... pleasure I encountered from a guy that normally flies GA VFR attempting to fly GA IFR. A succinct summary would be: Please expedite your climb.. Please expedite your descent... Hand off to Norcal/Oakland/Auckland/Tralfamador Hand off to Tralfamador/Auckland/Oakland/Norcal Please expedite... And my favorite, after I ignored a go-around (I was tired), "Did you hear my last transmission..." I could have sworn the guy got testy with me... What a nag!!! This is all with the bog-standard ATC in P3Dv3. I may have made an unfortunate choice in aircraft/scenario, in that My first attempt was from Christchurch to Auckland in a Phenom 300. I thought the AI traffic program (free from Orbx) would add to the immersion - it added, alright, but may have been too much of a good thing. I was listening to ATC talk with other aircraft, but I was 14 minutes out at FL310 and nobody was telling me to descend. Is this normal? I manually descended by asking for lower flight levels, and actually successfully landed in Auckland without killing anybody despite a 3,000 fpm descent. Whew! My second attempt was with the Flysimware Lear 35 (a great fun airplane, by the way - a total hot-rod) from San Jose to Portland. Jeezus. I was conservative, I was cautious, but still failed. After the fourth hand-off and climb instruction (is this normal?) I pulled the chute somewhere over the Bay. Maybe I should have tried IFR with the Turbine Duke or a slower aircraft? Certainly, the Learjet can get away from you quickly, and the added AI traffic from the Orbx OZ package can complicate things. The T-Duke is slower, but still can ... expedite ... climbs and descents. IFR flying feels like somebody is beating me with a ball peen hammer compared to VFR. The enjoyment of a leisurely turn to starboard at 1,500 fpm is gone. Instead, I have a Task Master who wants me to expedite. I do love the lady's voices, though. Is this normal?

  15. Hi all I'm wondering if I am missing here. If I tune nav 1 to (I have checked 10) random airports in the uk for example eggd, Bristol 110.15 I get the morse code and the CDI moves correctly however when turning the OBS to centre the CDI, it won't centre I can move OBS 360degrees and the CDI remains as it were. If I visually fly to the approach eventually the CDI will centre correctly on its own and glide me down perfectly. If I fly anywhere in the USA all is perfect I can move the OBS to centre the CDI no problems. As I have said am I missing something? Is there a bug in fs9 Any help/pointers would be much appreciated Cheers Stuart
  16. Dear guys and girls,I have a issue with FSX that for the life of me, I cannot find any replication online via google. My problem is pretty simple, I installed Ultimate Terrain X Europe and Ground Environment X Europe together, I then decided to install the first volume of the Horizon Simulation (VFR GenX). My scenery library has the VFR GenX at the top and beneath it is UTX. When I fly around in my VFR photo area, the textures for UTX display all around me, but just underneath me the textures load from the VFR GenX package.. I have looked in my scenery.cfg file to see if there is any problems with the ordering of areas, VFR GenX is right at the bottom and above it is the UTX textures. I used a utility built for FS2002/2004 for re ordering and fixing scenery entry problems (FSTscenery from Avsim). I hope the attached pictures says a thousands words as I may have not explained it very well. In a nutshell, how do I stop UTX's textures loading on top of VFR GenX's? Any help would be very much appreciated!! Thanks in advance//

  18. Hi, didn't find a hint here or elsewhere: as these sites state Thinkaviation.net , AOPA , swiss government one should close its VFR flight plan shortly before or immediately after landing, on my VFR travel yesterday's evening, I searched for the opportunity to do this. But - maybe I'm a blind dumbass - I didn't find any "close flightplan" or "cancel flightplan" request, neither while connected to center nor to ATC, also I couldn't find such a request in any other "Request" menu. The only request was to cancel flight following, then ATC told me to cancel flight following, radar advisory a.s.o. Could someone shed some light on this topic ? Is cancelling flight following or radar advisories the same as close a flight plan ?
  19. Thanks to Tonywob, VFR flying in the UK has had a huge boost in immersion through a download which shows every building in its right place. Mesh from AlpilotX, weather from the new NOAA plugin, and plane by Vflyte.
  20. I did not know what the italians did to their landscape. Honestly never been there, never looked at it. So when I wanted to go from Lake Garda to Venice I had to cross this region. I fly using landmarks only and Alt+Tab to Bing Maps in browser, no compass, no GPS. Works really well in 99% of the world, not in this mosaic of a landscape. Mental note: never go there in real life. https://imgur.com/2xNOO8o https://imgur.com/5IYSrUs
