  1. I have a question; how come when i start recording with fraps the frames drop significantly with 1920x1080x32? They also drop with 720 but not as much. The default resolution(i forgot what it was) has no frame drop with fraps. What is it about 720 and 1080 that make fraps want to eat fps? I also tried bandicam and same thing! can't put my finger around it and i searched for an answer and can't figure it out.
  2. Greetings all! I need your help in recommending what to upgrade to get FSX running smoothly with the NGX and upcoming 777. Currently with my setting nearly maxed I can get roughly 45-50 FPS with a default c172. As soon as I switch to the NGX it drops to a mere 12-14 FPS. Here are my specs: Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz EVGA X58 motherboard 6GB(3x2GB) RAM DDR3 Tripple channel at 2122.6 MHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 2GB So, I have a Newegg account and plenty of credit to spar with them. What needs to be upgraded in order for me to have a steady 25-30 FPS with the NGX? I run REX, TacPack and the Warthog GUI software in the background. Thank you all in advance. Best, Kurt Collins
  3. Hi, I changed my NVIDIA 780 ti for an 1080 ti this week and I dont have expected result I have around the same 25 fps and sometime my FSX crash with the message to ask to change my resolution and setup. I use the setting required by orbx for their sceneries :Here my FSX and addons : Level of detail radius :Large Global texture resolution: Max Mesh complexity 100 Mesh resolution 5m Scenery complexity Extremely Dense Autogen density Normal GA AI traffic 16-50% Road vehicle traffic 16% Simulator: FSX Service Pack 2, A lot of Orbx sceneries and more than 1000 addons, DX10Controller, AS16+ASA, EvenText, UT2m etc CPU: I7 4790K, GPU: NVIDIA 1080 ti, Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero, Thrusmaster Hotas X, AMD RAm : 2X8 2133 Im up to date with driver 382.05 I tried to overclock my card with EVGA Precision XOC 6.1 but not big change with FSX FPS Someone have an idea to config my card or conflict that I can have with my hardware? Thanks in advance for your help Pierre
  4. Hi, I'm just getting into making FSX videos, and I was wondering what the best recording program is (for playback from fsrecorder). I currently use MSI Afterburner, but I get my framerates easily slashed in half, or at the very least, dropped by 5-10 while recording. Since FSX doesn't use the GPU more than around 30%, I was wondering if there were any good (and free) recorders out there that can pretty much run on the GPU using CUDA. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I am not in a current position to upgrade to the new MSFS2020 platform, so I am working to enable my FSX sim to last a while longer. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Memory 4096 MB. Processor Intel 3.10GHz (4 CPUS)... and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. The video card needs to change, but I would like to install an updated replacement card that can operate within the computer's parameters. I use McAfee as my AntiVirus app. Any suggestions on a card based on personal experience will be sincerely appreciated.
  6. Greetings! I am building a new PC. I have been away from Flight Sim for 3-4 years (pre Steam and pre p3d). My new build will be for FSX Steam, but I also do Photoshop and Video editing. I anticipate using FSX Steam, PDG 737, Orbix, Rex, most all of the goodies. I am guessing my system will be overkill for Flight Sim, but would like confirmation of that. I will be overclocking the CPU. This is my third build of a system. As I only build system every 4 years or so, I am going high end. I respect the contributors on AvSim and hope for some feedback. Thanks guys! This is my current wish list: CPU: Intel i7-6700 MSI Graphics Card GTX 980 gaming 4g ASUS ROG Maximus VIII HERO Motherboard 2 - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5 inch SSD G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 SDRAM EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Watt G2 80+ Gold Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Mid Tower Case Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX CPU Cooler Windows 10 Home 64 bit system builder OEM Don Maxwell
  7. Hello. Not sure if this is the right area to post this. I just about have my new sim pit set up. Waiting on a new 27" monitor and have a used 24" monitor from the folks. My video card has two DVI connections. I just wanted to know, because I'm sure people have done this before, will it be possible to run a program like Plan-G on the smaller monitor and to run FSX on the larger monitor without running FSX in windowed mode? Is there anyway around this? Can I somehow tell Windows not to treat the other monitor like an extension of the desktop, but still get Plan-G to open on the smaller monitor or drag it there? I just really don't want the windowed outline that comes with windowed mode, it kills immersion. Maybe a silly question, but if I have to run it in windowed mode can I get rid of the outline somehow? I swear that I have seen someone run this setup online and not have the outline. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  8. Ok, my specs:CPU: AMD Athlon 220 x2 @ 2.8 GhzRAM: 4GB DDR3GPU: Nvidia GT430 1GB DDR3 Core clock-700MHz Shader clock-1400MHz Memory clock-600MHzAnyway, I run Flight on everything high, sharpness max, weather medium, texture high or medium depending on where I am. However, anytime I'm near medium or large amounts of trees or buildings, I get stuttering,"jerking" and lower FPS. How's everyone's performance on these settings on a non-gaming machine?
  9. Hello there, the last week upgrade my video card to a new geforce 1080 8gb and I'm trying to flight the 777 pmdg with the results shown in the photos (links), I want to fix it but I don't know what the issue is, I deleted the cfg file already and the fsx generated a new one and I reinstall the graphic card drives already. Thanks in advance for your help guys. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QBZUeRJZ9qXmAk5qYB7bvIlRT8R4Foo2/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UrdTtCe9G3I7_QG54r2YUfflqX4ny4Sg/view?usp=sharing Intel Core i7-6700k cpu@4.00 ghz memory ram 32 gb Nvidia geforce 1080 8gb Windows 10pro 64 bit Carlos E.
  10. This is a picture of my 4 month old EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked GPU. I have been very pleased with the performance of this card until... It quit working on Friday night. I had just departed from EGLL in a 738 NGX on a DOVER3 departure headed for EHAM when FSX locked up - I thought this was strange because this very rarely happens on my system. Once I was back onto my desktop Windows 7 displayed a message that read something like "The video drivers have crashed but have successfully recovered". Shortly after that message the display began to flash and become distorted until it went away all together. After manually rebooting I was able to use the display enough to see that the the GPU was no longer being recognized by any hardware monitor or Precision X - but the rest of my system checked ok. To isolate the GPU as the faulty component I removed it and installed a back up / tester GPU (Zotac Nvidia 8400 GS). The problem was resolved and the system back to normal operation. (besides not being able to fly with this underpowered GPU ) I contacted EVGA's customer support who immediately told me the GPU had failed. I then submitted a RMA, which was approved surprisingly quickly, and the GPU is now boxed and on its way to EVGA for warranty. My experience with EVGA's customer support has been nothing short of outstanding to this point. After doing some forum reading on EVGA's site I found this exact type of failure is becoming common with all EVGA versions of the GTX 660. Apparently this is a problem with early built model 660s (REV1.0), which is what mine is. I am not positive exactly what failed on the GPU or why but if you compare the EVGA 660 to other 660s like the Gigabyte or MSI you might find the answer. The cooling on the EVGA card is, well... embarrassing when compared to its counterpart's cooling. I have always been curious of my 660's operating temperature because it would run 65-75c while flying but I also read that was an ok temp for the GPU. Of course this is just my opinion but I would like to hear opinions and feedback from others. **I am posting this information only as a resource for current owners or anybody considering purchasing one of these GPUs.
  11. Hello All I've encountered an issue I've never seen before in FSX. I go to the menu bar, instruments dropdown and select an instrument, such as Reality XP, ASN weather gauge or an A2A mini control panel. The gauges appear. But when I click on the gauges to move them, the entire screen goes black for a few seconds and then comes back on, with no subsequent problems with the instruments. It doesn't happen with all instrument panels and sometimes does not occur at all. The sim runs fine, but it's very irritating to have blackouts with new instrument windows. I have W7 Ultimate and have inserted the .dll file to correct menu bar crashes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
